-- Powerful Chute Boxe striker Cristiane "Cybrog" Santos tells Tatame.com that she'll likely face undefeated Muay Thai star Gina Carano in February 2009 since both fighters recently won their respective bouts at Elite XC: "Heat." It's perhaps the most highly anticipated match in the history of female mixed martial arts. As also stated by "Cyborg" both girls like to stand and trade, which looks to be a highlight reel waiting to happen for one of them. Let's hope she's right and the match gets confirmed soon by the promotion.

While I’d pick Cyborg to win as well, I think Gina will give a far better showing than most think. She does tend to be judged, loved and hated by her looks, but she is one tough fighter.

cyborg is tough as it gets for a woman, but Gina is not OverHYPED. She is without a doubt one of the top 3 womaN IN THE WORLD. Cyborg didnt really DESTROY her last opponent, like Gina’s fight it went to a decision. Because the rounds are only 3 minutes long, I give Gina a good chance of pulling an upset, she is a WINNER so I wont be surprised if she finds a way to win. Like my boy, THE VIOLENT-ONE said, we may be fortunate enough to get Cyborg as an underdog, in that case I will bet on Cyborg for sure.
regardless of the outcome it should make for a CLASSIC match up!~

It’ll take place at 145 for sure. For once gina will fight someone without a significant disadvantage in strenght. We’ll also see how she responds to pressure. Anyone have the video of Gina’s muay thai bout where she loses?

This fight would be amazing, I hope it goes down. I have to say Gina Carano is my fave female fighter bar none. Cris has what it takes to rock her either way though I am pulling for Carano but this fight is going to rock.

That fight was so exciting!!!!! I think Gina is a average fighter but gets lotsa press because of her looks. All hype. Ppl around her probably hyped her up so much that she belived it. She actually thought she had a chance. I saw previos fights w/cyborg and knew she would beat her down. She’s ruthless!

Magazine layouts like maxim, American gladiator .. If she was a full time fighter she probably would have had a chance. That was the first real fight she had in her strike force career

And when this fight does happen, you can kiss EliteXC good bye! They have/had two marketable stars, Kimbo Slice and Gina Carano. Last event, Kimbo was proved to be a farce. Now they are feeding thier last marketable star, Gina Carono, to the wolves by matching her up with Cyborg. Its a fight that has to happen, but unfortunately, I see Gina getting man handled and beaten to a bloody pulp.
The only good thing about Cyborg destroying Carano other than watching an exciting fight will be winning money on Cyborg. I truely think that Carano will still be the betting favorite online. Cyborg at +150 or so. WOW. That would be great.

But I am talking about stars that are marketable to the masses – the casual MMA fans. To them, Kimbo and Gina are the biggest stars. I had people coming up to me at work saying how they saw Kimbo lose and beliveing the announcers that it was the biggest upset in MMA history. EliteXC beating the UFC to network TV REALLY skewed the opinions of MMA to the casual fans…
