UFC Quick Quote: Dan Hardy looks to finish Akihiro Gono in round two

"I anticipate playing a little cat-and-mouse chase for a little while. Brawling is not my style, so I’ll look to chip away at him and slow him down gradually. I’m not looking for a KO right away. It would be ignorant of me to think that I can just go out and knock him out straight away, but by around the midway point of the second round, I’ll have him at a point where I’ll be looking to finish him."

-- Team Rough House fighter Dan Hardy talks to Sherdog.com about his journey to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and what he expects when he makes his debut against Akihiro Gono at UFC 89: "Bisping vs. Leben" at The National Indoor Arena (NIA) in Birmingham, England, on October 18. The welterweight bout will headline the untelevised portion of the preliminary card; however, if it does finish fast the viewers at home will hopefully be treated to one of the better fights on the card.

Im taking Hardy. He’s going to send Gono packing, gay entrances and all.

Mex, u betta stop hating on my boy. I like Hardy a lot as a fighter but NO way he beats my boy Gono, and theres really no chance of me finishing. Bet Gono BIG!!!!!!!!

Found out today that Gono has only lost 3 times in the past 7 years and they were to Hendo, Shogun and Kang at higher weight classes. I’ve always liked him/his fight style but he just flew under the radar. He’ll take a slick sub.

is this guy related to ed hardy?

by adam on Oct 13, 2008 1:29 PM EDT reply actions

I’m just sad that this won’t be on the main card and I won’t get to see his entrance. Usually the prelims you buy on UFC.com don’t show the fighter entrance. I’ll be rooting for Gono!

no shit Chris this is such bullcrap Lytle-Taylor and Davis-Kelly made the main card but not 2 top 25 ww’s. Gono and Hardy

by matt on Oct 13, 2008 3:20 PM EDT reply actions

i like gono in this fight as well, but hardy is definetly a live underdog. should be a great fight. if gono wins i would love to see the fitch/gono fight that got cancelled.

Man this should be on the main card…

Rooting for DJ Gozma even though I like Dan a lot…
