Shooto at Kitazawa Town Hall recap and quick results

Shooto at Kitazawa Town Hall took place earlier today in Setagaya, Tokyo, Japan.

In the main event, Junji Ikoma came out on top to close the show in the last bout of the evening. He finished Yusei Shimokawa just two minutes into round one with a triangle choke.

Another early stoppage came courtesy of Shin Kashiwa when he overwhelmed Tajirio Iseki with some vicious punches to get a TKO victory in round one.

Ken Numajiri made his MMA debut a successful one when he dominated Masumi Tozawa in all three rounds to score the unanimous decision. Tozawa may have to go back to drawing board after going winless in four attempts.

The Shooto lightweight & welterweight semifinals also took place with some impressive performances from the young stars.

In the lightweight tournament, Issei Tamura looked sharp in his unanimous decision win over Takumi Ota. Tamura is now 2-0 and on his way to the tournament finals.

Ikuo Usuda stole the show when he finished Kazuya Satomoto via brutal TKO just sixty seconds into the very first round. He certainly has a lot of potential and now has the chance to impress fans further when he fights in the upcoming finals.

I have never heard of a single person on this card. The records do not look all impressive either.

Sound like names that you’d see on the credits of an old Godzilla movie.

Numajiri and Usuda are national level wrestlers out of Kiguchi’s gym, and the pros who have worked out with them say they’re already as good as seasoned professionals.
