UFC Quick Quote: An older, wiser Rampage ready for rematch with Silva

"I think this fight will be different because I think I’m more mature now. I’m a lot older, got a lot more experience. I fought Wanderlei both times when I was a kid, I feel like I was a kid in this sport. I got a little bit better skills now. I won’t have to fight Chuck Liddell first, and this time there won’t be so much pressure. We’re not fighting for any championship, we’re just going out there and fighting for money. I’ve got the best people around me. I’m a child of God. Ain’t nothing distracting me, homie. Trust me."

-Former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson (28-7) speaks to MMAWeekly about his upcoming match against former PRIDE middleweight champion Wanderlei Silva (32-8-1) scheduled for UFC 92 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Will "Rampage" be able to avenge his losses? Or will "The Axe-Murderer" make it three in a row? We'll find out on December 27.

it would take a lifetime for rampage to become as wise as a 15 years old kid..
he always talks about the pressure, he has got to be very scared everytime he enters the cage.

I pick Rampage to get the ‘W’ he’s got a somethings going against him, but I think he’s going to be the better fighter that night.

by THORAZINE on Oct 12, 2008 4:36 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Everyone thinks since Chuck beat Wandy in his first fight back in the UFC in forever Rampage get’s an automatic W. Did everyone forget how nervous Rampage was against Marvin Eastman? Rampage should have just walked right through Eastman but It’s called the octagon jitters. Yeah he did get the win but not like everyone thought he would get it. I say Wandy would win a second fight with Chuck and he will win the third fight with Rampage. Wandy is in his head by now and the pressure is on Rampage even more so then it is on Wanderlei. Wandy wins a second round stoppage.

that night hurt.

but i dont recall losing[on mma] since then.

i did just lose 2k on an nba pre game. but not mma.

i actully made myself 92k profit off affliction banned.

i am a pro gambler.

so yeah i will bet alot. and i dont always win.

but all my mma bets this year have profited me cash

except rampage-forrest ufc whatever it was?

so i have no clue what ur talking about.

seriously man who gives shit about how much your betting. I could care less if its 100 or 100,000.

by LOKIE on Oct 12, 2008 8:59 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

thats what im saying.

who gives a shit?

i was not even talking about how much i bet and then my

fans like mexi~brenda~shmo and others always chat it up

even when i am not talking about it.

the only time i ever post how much cash i bet is on

results or betting threads.

i could post that the sky is blue and peeps will reply

with something about my fake bets?

really who cares how much it is?

not everyone here works at burger king.

my fans just cant get enough of me. its pathetic.

if ur going to make fun of my bets? do it in the threads

that i post them in.

all i did was make a comment like anyone else would.

there was no price tag on it.

I hear ya stinky. I lost 500k on a fight once but I was like “no biggie, because I won 10 times that on an earlier fight and I got like 2 dozen blow jobs right after for free because the hotties thought I was so dope.”

everytime i think of this fight i change my mind on who will win so today i think wandy by armbar

by ukmma on Oct 12, 2008 4:45 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Hey me too. Mostly I think that Page has gotten so much better since then. Wandy doesn’t seem to me like the same fighter. Plus they don’t stand you up in the UFC like they did in Pride which Wand definitely benefited from in their previous fight. But Wandy is my favorite fighter by far (well, top three for sure) and so I really want him to win even though it seems like Page is a different fighter.

u sound foolish~

His next court appearance is in November, and things will definitely get more ugly from there. I dunno, I think his legal battles might be enough to detract him from fully concentrating on preparing for this fight. I’m picking Silva.

by popeye on Oct 12, 2008 5:27 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Hoping for a Rampage win probably midway through the 3rd round (wandy’s conditioning didn’t look good against chuck but maybe he’s revamped his training- i did see him training with that mask on to restrict the amount of oxygen he’s getting…)

I’m curious how being in a new training camp is going to effect Rampage. Isnt he training in england now with bisbing’s camp?? Its hard to pick a winner bc both are such great fighters, fight of the year written all over it.

by bobby o'shea on Oct 12, 2008 5:53 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

fight of the year? you really think so? i think the first few minutes of rounds 1 and 2 will be action packed, with both guys swinging away, but after that Page will be able to control wandy but not finish him. just half-guard lnp, and alot of clinching against the fence for about 3 minutes of every round. rampage by decision

by sinister on Oct 12, 2008 6:38 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

That’s a good point, clinching up against the cage is going to be a huge benefit to Page compared to Pride where you can bounce off the ropes easier.

by dave on Oct 14, 2008 2:31 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Rampage is great… but I can’t see him winning this… I know both fights so far were a while back in Pride (One after he’d already fought Chuck) but Wandi won in devasating fashion! That’s gotta get into your head!

by DanP on Oct 12, 2008 6:14 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Gotta go with wand here he looked impressive at 84.

by markg on Oct 12, 2008 6:24 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Im going with wand, but it wouldnt surprise me if jackson tagged him and ko’d him. Either way this fight is going to be awesome, and end in a ko for sure:D

by Jared on Oct 12, 2008 6:54 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I agree totally, fight of the year, although couture vs lesnar is runner up..

by Sir_alan on Oct 12, 2008 8:23 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

a couple of people have said fight of the year, and maybe it will be. I see someone sleeping at then of this one, and I see it coming early. I know Chuck and Wandy tagged eachother alot and both have great power, but I dont see this one playing out like that. Im going with Rampage I think a new camp will make him a little fresher, and happier training. ( him and bisping are boys) That being said, Rampage better leave his demons at home, ( the legal problems/getting KO’d twice by wandy) or he will get KTFO

by LOKIE on Oct 12, 2008 12:51 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

“I’m a child of God.” Yeah sure Quinton. Whatever you say. Tell that to the people who’s cars you hit and ran off the road. I’ll be so glad when Wandy gives this guy a beating.

by the_mexicutioner on Oct 12, 2008 2:22 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Its obvious to me Rampage is going to get another beating. Anybody who thinks otherwise is blind. Would Tito or Babalu beat Chuck in a 3rd fight??? No. Its called being OWNED! Face it, Wandi is going to give Rampage the beating he deserves.

by BNF on Oct 12, 2008 12:15 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I agree… you cant just say you are a child of God, you have to live it… Go Wanderlei!!!!!

You still dragging that around? Let it go man. A dude’s aloud to be imperfect and make mistakes.

by dave on Oct 14, 2008 2:33 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Wandy all the way, his new training and old ways combined will cause Rampage trouble, Rampage nows this, thats why he was trying to get Silva old coach from Chute Box. Wandy by TKO in the third round.

by bigbluballa3 on Oct 12, 2008 8:56 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I love the “Rampster!” But, I truly believe the “Axe Man” is gonna use his knees to take turn the (Ram)“Page” again! Nobody will be in their seat during this one! I can’t wait!!!

With all due respect, chill out with this child of god. God has other more important things to worry about than watching MMA these days. You’re in there alone pal…it’s just you and Wanderlei.

“God has other more important things to worry about than watching MMA these days.”

That’s pretty funny

by RiverHorror on Oct 12, 2008 2:34 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I have it on good word that God actually loves MMA. You know, eye for and eye and so on. Alhough he is probably more nuetral than the average EliteXC exec.
Seriously though, I’m thinking ramapge is still not all there. I don’t have a favorite in this one, but give the edge to Vandy.

by Jrandolph on Oct 12, 2008 6:00 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think wand is going to push the pace and get him.

Quinton is gonna murder Wandy this time around

by knee to the nads on Oct 12, 2008 11:35 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

This fight could go either way so easy. I won’t be surprised if either guy wins. There are so many new factors this time around: cage, UFC rules instead of Pride, Page is better now, Wand my not be as good. This could be fight of the year and it needs to be on the NYE card because Griffin v. Evans will be boring.

by natedogg77 on Oct 12, 2008 11:43 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Elbows will be the deciding factor in this fight, Wandy is not used to being hit with them, Rampage can utilize his wrestling against Wand.

I highly doubt Rampage is going for the fences in this fight.

by DirtyML on Oct 12, 2008 12:31 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Agreed. I dont think Page will try to come in looking to swing for the fences, but after Wanderlei pisses him off he will. One thing is for sure….I know no other fighter who actually loves to fight as much as Wanderlei, and he HATES Rampage and vice versa…this will be a beatdown one way or the other. Since History usually repeats itself (i.e. Chuck vs Tito, Rampage vs. Chuck, Chuck vs Babalu, Ken vs Tito) I have to go with Wanderlei on this one for obvious reasons.

Does anyone know the stats on someone winning after losing 2 straight fights to the same guy? I know people have lost the first fight and come back to win the next 2 (Randy vs Chuck), but I dont think I know of a single time in MMA someone has lost the first 2 and come back to win the 3rd….

by Chadx23 on Oct 13, 2008 10:15 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah but Wandy is good on the ground and is well rounded in Bjj.

Page is going to be raped/

by Rp on Oct 12, 2008 12:38 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

we have seen in time and time again though, good wreslting combined with good submission defense can give a great BJJ fighter problems. I know Wandy has good BJJ, but its not his strong suit

by LOKIE on Oct 12, 2008 12:55 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

If Page actually gets raped it would be really awkward to call on television. I don’t even think that Rogan would be able to colour commentate that move.

by dave on Oct 14, 2008 2:37 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

if wandy can get the clinch on rampage this fight is over but if quintin can stay on the out side he can definitly win.

by Colin D on Oct 12, 2008 2:56 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

yees.. and if he takes him down he can definetely win aswell! I hope they’re going to stand up and that Rampage will nail him with a uppercut and pound him into death..

by RoB on Oct 12, 2008 5:00 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I disagree that this is a formality and that wandi will take this one simply because he has won twice before.
Its an intruiging fight, and to be honest I havent a clue who to pick, obviously wandi has to be the fav but its gony be a great fight!! I just love the ufc when they get these big fights happening, its soooo exciting!!

Also chuck was interviewed in hawaii the other week and is talking about a fight either feb/mar time, any ideas who this could be against? Im currently reading chucks book, its really good, never realised just how well rounded the guy is, and after reading that I just know he is still a dangerous guy in this dicision and could take anyone out, even now!!! Come on the ICEMAN!!!!!!

by mo on Oct 12, 2008 5:13 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Rampage is the top fighter in the LHW division. he’s faster and hits harder than wandy as long as he stays away from the knees in the clinch he’s got this one. for the record i still think he got robbed, and beat forest griffen.

by swizz on Oct 12, 2008 5:15 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs
