Goran Reljic injured and unable to fight Thales Leites at UFC 90

Goran Reljic sustained a back injury while training for his upcoming 185-pound fight against Thales Leites (14-1) at UFC 90: "Silva vs. Cote" at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill., on October 25, and has been forced out of the bout, according to MMAFighting.com.
The match up was between two up-and-coming talents to determine who would rise to the top faster within the middleweight division. No replacement has been named at this time and because the pay-per-view (PPV) event is less than two weeks away it's possible that one may not be plugged in.
However, the report indicates that the hunt for a fill-in is already underway.
If Leites is scratched as a result of the Reljic injury then look for another bout previously on the untelevised portion of the card such as Gray Maynard vs. Rich Clementi or Spencer Fisher vs. Shannon Gugerty to be promoted to the PPV telecast.
Reljic is a 23-year-old undefeated Croatian fighter who stopped Wilson Gouveia via technical knockout in his debut performance for the promotion at UFC 84: "Ill Will" back in May. He trains with the Roger Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy in London, England, where he is a purple belt.
In addition, he is the protege of former UFC heavyweight fighter, Mirko Cro Cop.

I wonder how Almeida is recovering from his injury. Does anyone have any more details as to what happened to him?
by J on Oct 12, 2008 9:15 PM EDT reply actions
I meant his career you jackass. It died awhile back. haha
by bringbackGuillard on Oct 12, 2008 11:07 PM EDT up reply actions
Actually I think Almeida is a force to be reckoned with. He is going to do some serious damage in the middleweight division.

Wow, I would LOVE to see Jason MacDonald step up and take this one against Leites.
If I remember correctly, he fought at UFC 88 and didn’t sustain any injuries. I think Jason would destroy Thales.
by J on Oct 12, 2008 11:21 PM EDT up reply actions
yeah this sucks. I hope he gets healed up quick.
by Nate Dogg77 on Oct 12, 2008 10:33 PM EDT reply actions
Let Marquardt come in and destroy him like he did last time, only this time he’ll get the win in his record aswell.
by Third Eye on Oct 13, 2008 8:05 AM EDT reply actions
id like to see macdonald vs leites. that would be a pretty good scrap.
by allamerican on Oct 13, 2008 8:24 AM EDT reply actions
