Howcome for UFC 90 there’s been no mention of Sherk Vs. Griffin? Despite what some of you may think of them they are both pretty wel known and I can’t understand why UFC hasn’t put them in any of the promos even for like a few seconds. Is a main event of Silva vs. Cote enough to appeal to casual fans? Thailes Leites vs. Goran Rejic has the potential to be a good fight. The UFC should of put more emphasis on the all of the card as there’s some good fights not just the main/co main event.

by Macho Bullshit on Oct 12, 2008 10:48 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

There is no hype because Sherk is a 2/3 time steroids loser and you cannot promote proven cheaters, that said he came back from his last STEROID suspension and got beaten like he stole something. He is not a main event anymore and in my eyes never really was. I also dont know how many casual fans out there even know who Tyson Griffin is, I know he has is a great fighter who has fought alot and won but he does not stick out like a sore thumb I question his popularity within the casual fan base. That s aid I love Griifin and hope he punches a hole through Sherks head (in a nice way)!!!!!

i dont think sherk was on roids… he had the exact same physique for the Penn fight and he was drug tested i believe like 6 weeks out

by brendan on Oct 12, 2008 6:02 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

He did not have the same physique in the Penn fight and certainly did not have the same strength.

by chuckjbt on Oct 12, 2008 6:33 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

brenda~

yeah he had the same physique and

he should have had the same level/12 of nan in his body

cause he claimed that must be his level all the time.

but this time he didnt test positive at level/12 like
last time.

this time he tested at like level/3……

right? he never took roids~ lmao!

btw~ everyone has nan in their body.

max level/6

and steroid sherk checked in at level/12 for his franca fight.

explain that?

I agree, but I wouldnt put griffin down, he might not be the most popular guy out there and I think he has a good career ahead, but I’m not sure I would peg him a gold contender.

by Ro-j on Oct 12, 2008 10:08 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Sherk vs Griffin = Sherk vs poor man’s Sherk. Griffin is all hype who did nothing but steal decisions from Guida and Tavares. But i’ll admit that he has awesome scrambles.

by brendan on Oct 12, 2008 5:58 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Dirty Sanchez get’s under my skin. His ego about himself as a person, not just as a fighter needs a serious check. I think his next opponent will hand deliver that reality check via an overnight express beat down.

by mike on Oct 12, 2008 11:11 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Alves is going to find out very quickly that he does not have a significant strength advantage over Diego, and he certainly does not have better technical skills than Diego. He will get frustrated and gas out by the end of the first round, then Diego will pound on him until it gets stopped by TKO in the third.

by PW on Oct 12, 2008 2:46 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Nightmare by submission in the 2nd.

by Blurntox on Oct 12, 2008 7:14 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Koscheks ego is sooo much bigger than Diego’s. I have read and seen plenty of Diego interviews and I have not seen or heard any of the arrogance or cockiness that a lot people say he has. I think Diego is definately one of the most exciting fighters to watch in that division, he will fight anyone that is put in front of him, and has fought some of the tougher opponets in that division. I cannot wait for him to do damage on Alves, and eventually give Koscheck the beatdown he truly desereves.

There is no hype because Sherk is a 2/3 time steroid loser and you cannot promote fighters that are proven cheaters, not to mentoin that he came back from his last STEROID suspension and got beaten like he stole something. He is not a main event anymore and as far as I am concerned never was……..JUICE MONKEY NOT SKILLED MMA FIGHTER. I also dont believe that many casual fans know who Tyson is, I know he has fought alot and won but he does not stick out like a sore thumb and would question his popularity, I like him and hope he puts a fist right through Sherks head.

Diego is a wiener.

by Adam on Oct 12, 2008 12:35 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

“You still wouldn’t say that to his face.” That’s straight elementry school… LOL.

Diego is a weiner with a bad hair cut, but he is GOOD and always brings it (except for the half dead Koscheck fight). Either way this is the real main event of the night.

I don’t know about you guys, but you gotta love Diego. This guy is consistently getting better, and I think we’re about to witness the best Diego Sanchez we’ve ever seen. Get ready, because this is going to be fight of the night.

True that!

by BNF on Oct 12, 2008 2:16 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Diego’s gonna take this one for sure. Let’s see if Alves makes weight.

by RiverHorror on Oct 12, 2008 2:36 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I agree about alves and weight. I think Diego has all the tools he needs to win this, but that being said he is annoying. If he was have as good as his ego suggest he could take out Fedor. The guy can fight but it doesnt change the fact he is a prick. I liked the previouse comment " you wouldnt say that to his face" why because he is a cage fighter? I would bust a beer bottle on that bitches head if I had to. There are rules in the cage, not in the street.

by LOKIE on Oct 12, 2008 3:41 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Cage fighters are dangerous street fighters too. LOL

by The Negation on Oct 12, 2008 5:50 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah but we aint got no rules on the streets lol. I’m sure a gun will make up for no mma skills.

Diego is a wild man! the future champ maybe.. he’s gonna take this fight for sure!

Sanchez brings nothing to this fight. He’ll experience his first TKO loss.

by NameNotRequired on Oct 12, 2008 6:59 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

or not.. just look at this fight with an open mind, and your answer will be that Diego Sanchez is gonna be the winner!

by RoB on Oct 12, 2008 10:09 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Diego is a beast. And to everyone saying that Sherk is getting no promo because he was on roids, that’s ridiculous because Alves is gettin all this hype and anyone who knows anything about fitness knows he didn’t get that way by drinking protein shakes and eating chunky soup.

Sanchez is gonna prove what a real mixed martial artist is in this figt.

by Jimmy on Oct 12, 2008 3:42 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Alves was on roids during the DeSouza fight at UFC 66

by sinister on Oct 12, 2008 5:21 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

right on man creatine and protein shakes dont make ya that big overnight. hes juicing no question i seem to remember koscheck and leben saying the same thing in the car

Roids? really? U guys are obviously clueless.

by NameNotRequired on Oct 12, 2008 7:01 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Nah bro. I’m not clueless at all. I’ve been weightlifting naturally for 7 years now and I have been training MMA for 2 years now. I have seen COUNTLESS juicers in my time and believe me, Alves HAS juiced before. I’m not gonna say he is still on it, but make no mistake about it that he has.

Agreed…

You gotta be kidding, Alves is gonna smash a mudhole into Diegos Arse & believe me he is well known after kneeing Matt Hughes into virtual retirement

by TuBBz on Oct 12, 2008 3:49 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

he is a douche, but he does bring a good fight

by Egads on Oct 12, 2008 4:03 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Thiago Alves is a monster at 170. I was there when he fought Matt Hughes and hes one of the biggest 170 pound fighters out. Can’t see Diego making it out the second round in this fight. Thiago is the better fighter on the feet, as great pin point punches, thunderous leg kicks and his knees aren’t bad either. Matt Hughes couldn’t take thiago down, so can’t see Diego putting Thiago on his back.

by HALE UK on Oct 12, 2008 4:10 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

he should be tested for steroids every month.. cause he’s definitely one of the in not the biggest roider in the UFC

by RoB on Oct 12, 2008 7:03 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

that because he missed weight on top of being a big 17o

by LOKIE on Oct 12, 2008 8:53 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Missed weight badly against Hughes, got busted for a diuretic trying to make weight once before, barely made weight in a few other fights. UFC should be testing his blood and hair for roids, not just his pee.

by PW on Oct 13, 2008 11:55 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

God this is such a good fight of actual contendars. It’s nice to see a fight between two people that are really fighting based on how close there rankings are. Did they say if the winner gets a title shot next?

by The Anomaly on Oct 12, 2008 4:12 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

in so many words yes. it’s pretty much a given.

by Macho Bullshit on Oct 12, 2008 4:18 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I assumed, but untill they spell it out and its official, ya never know, ya know?

by The Anomaly on Oct 12, 2008 4:53 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

kinda like what they said to AA before the Werdum fight.

if they put on a good fight or a decisive finish, then i can see the next guy getting a shot. if its a crappy fight with a controversial stoppage, i can see them making the winner fight either kos, fitch, or maybe even swick for a number one contender spot. i know kos and swick have fights coming up, so it might not be them.

either fighter rematching fitch could be good, since alves is all “im a different fighter now” and the diego fight was pretty close.

and like i said, you cant forget about swick in there. he did beat marcus davis, and even though davis was barely at the top 10, that still counts for something. look for swick to beat goulet, then get a match against a top contender (like maybe karo?) and look for him to be in title contention midway thru next year.

I hope Thiago puts him to sleep.

God damn I hope sanchez beat’s the living shit out of alves. Why is it alves always looks like he has a mouthful of water when he gives that stupid look?

Bring it home sanchez.

by spawn on Oct 12, 2008 4:26 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

sanchez’s agression may be the difference in this fight. i wouldn’t be superised if the fight is stopped really early. sanchez has a spiritual intelligence that i never used to understand. his mind is tuned for fighting and nothing else. i don’t think alves trains half as hard or can match the intensity and focus of sanchez. i used to hate him but i’ve come to respect him as a fighter.

by jonsey on Oct 12, 2008 5:39 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

His voice is so annoying, and he’s so full of himself.. You won’t need your conditioning when you got PitBull punching your face in Diego “The Faggot” Sanchez

If he does, Alves could be in big trouble. For all his nonsense talk, you can’t fault Diego on his conditioning and pace.

This fight is going to be good.
