Show of class, more like show of an ass…clown that is.

by Ro-J on Oct 5, 2008 10:05 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I like that “show of class,” I agree, but what was he gonaa do? this isn’t some fat bouncer or pizza delivery guy in the back yard of your pimps house, seth would beat kimbo 9out of 10 times. By the way guys, it wasn’t a jab, it was a cross, and it connected solid!!

Is it me or does MANIA have a bit of a man crush on Kimbo?

by MoonUK on Oct 5, 2008 12:25 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

No, its the other way around. Kimbo continues to be a class act win or lose and you guys hate on him because he hasnt fought the best…well no s*it! Hes just trying to get started as a fighter. Its not like every up and coming fighter in MMA initially goes in and fights the best like you want kimbo to do, RIGHT? You didnt see nate diaz get thrown in there w a BJ penn or michael bisping get thrown in with a chuck lidell in their 1st fights?? Just let the guy try and become an MMA guy, and if he fails like many many other have, well then there you have it.
You keep bringing up BS stuff like he doesnt deserve headline status…well i dont think thats his decision to make is it? Its his persona that gave him that. As a fighter would you do otherwise? i think not. All im saying is that i dont know where you guys get off hating him just because he was a youtube sensation. yes, we get it…hes not an MMA specialist yet, but isnt that a given and thats what hes trying to accomplish. But my conclusion to the hate from dana and all others is that JEALOUSY is the most basic human way of reacting to something you wish you had, even in denial.

by blah. anything can/and will happen in MMA on Oct 5, 2008 2:32 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I agree totally!!!!! all the hating is just bandwagon stuff, if he wins the title eventually all of the haters will be lovers which is sad. He has always been respectful of the other fighters and never talks trash about anyone. Like thew guy that introduced him after the fight said “show me a champion that has not lost a fight”, he loses and it gives all the haters ammo to be stupid and thats it. He is a tough guy plain and simple, there are a lot of real ass clowns out there that are worse than him lets see TITO (beeatch that refuses to fight anyone he knows he cant beat big pussy)

The difference is Diaz and Bisping arent put in the main event against cans!!!

with seth back peddeling and only having one foot on the ground, makes kimbo chin even more exposed.

First shot was on the chin. He was hit under the eye on one of the follow up finishing shots.

Then he went for a double leg, on the ref, but it was stuffed.

Just because he has an orthodox stance, and its his right hand being thrown, doesnt mean it was a cross.

He was sort of in a neutral striking position, with both feet squared up; (one foot being in the air, by the way). One could say it was a jab, it wasn’t like he turned his shoulders into it like a normal cross

by Brandon on Oct 5, 2008 1:32 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

you dont turn your shoulders you rotate your hip slightly your shoulders turn with your hip

Kimbo has a weak chin. he should stick to stealing credit card numbers and uttering bad checks…which is what every scumbag “monday” from the “skreets” does. I paid $75 bucks to see him lose and boy every penny was worth it. now the mma world can finally see that once he fights anyone worth their shit, he simply cannot hang! well he did for 14 seconds!!! LMAO!!! punk ass ghetto fuck…go burglarize some cars in your section 8 housing parking lot bitch! LMAO!!!

it’s not a homo show third eye.. who the f cares about touching gloves! they’re not in kindergarden..

by RoB on Oct 5, 2008 11:26 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

No your right they’re there to fight, BUT if you raise your glove before the bell to indicate that your going to touch gloves, then touch gloves. Don’t try no cheap (Manny type) shots.

by MoonUK on Oct 5, 2008 12:23 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

yes, but Kimbo just didn’t want to touch gloves and there’s no deal about not wanting to touch gloves, if he would have tried to do a “Manny” which he didn’t it would have been something to discuss about.. they’re there to entertain and make money not to show class like everybody’s talking about!

why is there and article about a fighter showing class after a fight? 99% of all the fighters show respect…oh wait its kimbo more attention needs to be drawn to him for no reason

by sac165 on Oct 5, 2008 5:05 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I just wonder how long it will take Dana White to send Seth a fruit basket to say thanks for doing what we were all waiting for. I’m a fight fan, and Kimbo is several levels below the top fighters. Seth is a decent fighter, but not close to good enough to fight among the best, which was shown after 2 losses in the UFC, and a sub par showing on TUF.

Let’s face it, like it or not, the UFC has the best fighters and the best fights. We may not all agree with the way they do business, or who Dana conducts himself, but this just goes to prove they are so far beyond any other fight promotion in the world (MMA or Boxing).

It was good to see Kimbo be humble, even though his street education came through, and didn’t really do anything to help Elite XC.

by sawyer on Oct 5, 2008 11:41 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Take some public speaking classes if you are going to be the “main event” and a “superstar” and “legendary.”

You aren’t in the ghetto anymore, you have money, use it to better yourself.

It is as bad as an NHL hockey interview where they say “um.. yeah we played a good game ummm great team ummm had a tough time in the first ummmmm then we ummm we pulled through in the ummmm second period and fought ummm them ummm off umm in the third ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm”

I guess the definition of class here would be elementary english.

Like other MMA fans have said, I don’t have a problem with Kimbo at all. He’s said many tmes there are holes in his game that need improving, he’s respectful and has potential.

But I am THRILLED that EliteXC has to eat their balls for promoting him as a main eventer At This Point In His Career. His previous career is a discredit to the industry so many would like to see legitimzied. He’s been spoonfed bums to knockout dramtically. EliteXC has been just one step away from scripting his fights WWE style, until now.

Shamrock v Kimbo is an obvious fight especially now that they’re both damaed goods, but where does Kimbo go from there?

by Kmac on Oct 5, 2008 12:27 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Well said.

by Ro-J on Oct 5, 2008 12:31 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

The Shamrock/Kimbo fight is still marketable.

I think they go there.

by ShaiZ on Oct 5, 2008 3:02 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think it’s funny when certain guys get credit for being half decent. So what does that tell you a about the rest of the time? It says that it’s not expected because he’s just a talentless street thug. And by the way? How ridiculous was it when they said “The most incredible victory in the history of mixed martial arts”! ?? Elite XC? GO AWAY!!!

by Dan on Oct 5, 2008 12:41 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

MMAmania heart Kimbo.

by Flyingknees on Oct 5, 2008 1:06 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Let the guy be who he is people. So he doesn’t speak with the propriety that many of you think he should speak with doesn’t mean that it wasn’t class. Plus the guy was swept to national television without any gradual ascension, so obviously he’s going to speak the way he was raised. Geez there are a lot of belligerent people here.

by dave on Oct 5, 2008 1:29 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Amen to that.

A funny thing that I have noticed on this blog (as well as other MMA blogs) is that most of the grammar used by people on here is quite atrocious and thus makes me wonder what point people try to make by typing negative comments about someone who they believe to be a ghetto thug that needs to attend “public speaking classes.” While he, Kimbo, may not know what a comma splice is, as it appears that DirtyML doesn’t as well, I don’t see how brerrating a fighter to learn the basic knowledge of the English language helps solidify anyone’s point if they themselves don’t have a higher understanding of it as well.

by Anon on Oct 5, 2008 2:31 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

hahahahaha . . . . did I spell that right?

by The Anomaly on Oct 7, 2008 2:26 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think it’s hilarious that Kimbo doesn’t really cooperate with the interviewers. Walking away before they’ve finished their questions etc. That’s what you get when you promote a street fighter to the top overnight.

by dave on Oct 5, 2008 1:30 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Beginning of Kimbo’s career the guy said…Kimbo is 34, same age as has-been Tito. He’ll never amount to much of a fighter at his age.

by Djrmma on Oct 5, 2008 1:34 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

so why aren’t u mentioning has-been Chuck Liddell too.. Tito would still beat alot of fighters and he’s getting his back fixed now, so chill..

Tito’s been getting his back fixed for the better part of three years. Apparently taking guys down and laying on top of them for 5 rounds takes its toll.

And Chuck would still school him…again.

by Muscle Dolphin on Oct 5, 2008 2:09 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

i saw a short doc on him on showtime and he was a promising high school linebacker. he says Hurricane Andrew took a pretty big toll on him and his family so he had to drop out to work. i would give him a mulligan on that one.

by b.w. on Oct 5, 2008 5:01 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I’m pretty sure academics had nothing to do with that scholarship offer to The U. The football players did not have to meet the same exacting standards as the student body at large in the late 80s/early 90s.

I wouldnt say Kimbo showed any real respect before the fight afterwards of course he did. Hes a seems like a cool guy he got caught it happens, next fight should be soon and another loss =Career over a win maybe get a rematch or someshit. Unfortunate news for True MMA fans…
Mr. Slice’s 15 minutes ended last night. It only took 14 seconds and one short jab to stagger the seemingly unstoppable Slice. It’s a shame to see Slice lose, with all of his class. Slice is a classy loser. Slice has so much class in his beard. Slice’s gold dentistry is also extremely classy, in that subtle ghetto way. To say Slice is not a man of class is like saying birds don’t fly south for the winter, ya know what im sayin’? In fact, The word “Slice” means “class” in 6 languages.
So if he ain’t classy, ain’t nobody gots no class.
To reiterate, if I may, my main points:
1. Slice has class.
2. Slice’s beard has class.
3. Slice’s defeat was one of the biggest upsets
of a classy man in mma history
4. I would like a slice of pizza.

I like Kimbo and I was sorry to see him lose because he’s always been a class act.

However both Jeremy Lappen & Jared Shaw are douchebags who will be out of business sooner rather than later. Jared’s a total douche because of his cageside antics. I honestly loved watching him bitch at the ref that Kimbo was struck on the back of the head.

Jeremy Lappen is a douche because of his post fight presser comments. He says “All of the best have lost” and “If you show me a world champion in MMA who hasn’t lost, I haven’t seen it.” Both of these comments show that Lappen was trying to save face for his poster boy but they weren’t well thought out at all.

There are plenty of great fighters in the big leagues (not Elite XC) that are undefeated and they’ve fought more than 4 professional fights. I’m referring to guys like Rashad Evans, Lyoto Machida, Paulo Filho, & Shane Carwin.

And how about the greatest fighter of all time Fedor Emelianenko? Other than the bullshit illegal elbow that was used to cut him back in 2000, the guy hasn’t lost. It should’ve been ruled a no contest.

by Jake on Oct 5, 2008 7:04 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Kimbo would probably make a good boxer his style seems
more geared toward the sport. MMA requires u to do alot
more than brawl as he looks really weak with his grapple.

This was just hilarious. It’s great to see someone like Kimbo get his world destroyed so quickly and efficiently. Thank you Seth. The only thing more entertaining then watching the fight replay and Kimbo’s grade school post fight interview is reading all the 12 year old’s comments telling everyone to leave Kimbo alone. Cry about it……
Look, he decided to be put in this spotlight and whenever that happens then there’s a greater chance for your laughably bad skills to be exposed. Kimbo has been training for months now with very good fighters and coaches. Yet he still ran in with his hands down in the first 5 seconds, what does that tell you? He’s a joke, he hasn’t improved and he’ll never be a real MMA fighter.
Plus it must anger other fighters that have devoted their lives to this, to see someone like Kimbo, who can’t complete an interview, or speak several sentences in row, get all this money and exposure. Lets hope it all ends here….

by Dman087953 on Oct 5, 2008 8:27 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Guess the guy is too important to hang around and answer questions at the conference after he got KTFO in 14 seconds. Someone like Chuck Liddell has stayed at his press conferences after getting KO’ed. So did GSP after the 1st Serra fight, and Pulver after Lauzon KO’ed him.

But Kimbo the Bad @ss to too cool for that. Bullshít!

The more Kimbo shows himself, the more evident it is that he won’t be a champ and doesn’t deserve to be a champ anywhere.

by Fred on Oct 5, 2008 9:11 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

head of operations dude is addressing the press like he was kimbos manager. and it almost sounded like it was from a kimbo vs the world standpoint.

though i understand that eliteXC as a brand is using kimbo to build up their promotion (and rightfully so, the guy is a draw – skill or not), but i feel that executives shouldn’t sound as biased as he did. and also, jared shaw openly showing disapproval of kimbo getting KTFO in front row seats is just disgusting.

there were some great fights on the card, but overall the show itself left somewhat of a bad taste in my mouth. the minute i heard ken shamrock pulling out 24 hours before the fight, i knew something stupid was going to happen. not that seth doesn’t deserve the win, but i was kinda lookin forward to how the all the trash-talking hype turned out between kimbo and shamrock.

in conclusion, seems like eliteXC is unorganized, “openly” biased, and most importantly not worth watching anymore.
