UFC 93? I still dont think I even looked at the UFC 90 promo’s yet! I dont want to get as ahead of myself as most of you seem to be. I am trying to enjoy and concentrate on 1 event at a time

by john on Oct 2, 2008 11:21 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

LOL i like how john take a fighters approach of “one fight at time” to his events…John what do you think of the certain matchups that will determine the next few contederships and champions? do you think you will be mor involve with UFC 92 than UFC 90? (johns response) Well i think they will all be great cards that im sure to be keeping an eye on all of them but right now i have my eyes set on UFC 89. im going to focus all my knowledge and abilities to make sure i absorb the results and ripple effects those bouts will have."

by santiago69us on Oct 2, 2008 11:32 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

yeah man! Damn right! When I think of an EVENT, I start thinking of what match ups to bet on so TIME to FOCUS on 89!

by john on Oct 2, 2008 2:48 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

actually, now that I think about it. I love knowing what fights are going to happen in advance and I even enjoy talking about those fights, its the marketing of events that I like to see 1 at a time. UFC’s marketing like the commercials and the countdown shows get me all hyped up, that I like to enjoy them at the appropriate time. Like right now, I start to get hype over UFC 89, after thats over, I still have to see the Cote/Silva stuff (even though commercials for that event already air on TV).

by john on Oct 2, 2008 3:22 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

yeah dana white and joe rogan along with that crazy symphony orchestra that works partime with deathlok for the events theme music lol they get me really amped for a fight all the time.

Man, they actually managed to get less excited with this promo. They usually do such an awesome job with these previews. Oh Well, it’s still can be a sick card.

Why is coleman still alive? I thought roids can kill you?

by rp on Oct 2, 2008 2:09 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

cool promo. got rich and shogun here. hopefully the winner of hendo/franklin will fight shogun. that’d be good. unless they drop back down to 185. then they can have soko go at it against rua

Is this one meant to go against the Affliction: Day of Reckoning card or is that one still unconfirmed. If so Dana and co are really trying their best to piss on Affliction’s fire!

As always I’ll watch both though.

What is the UFC going to do when Coleman pulls out of this fight?

by john on Oct 2, 2008 11:23 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i hope they already have a back up in waiting so he will be in shape and ready to go.

by roy on Oct 2, 2008 11:40 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I just watched the Shogun/Coleman fight, if you want to call it that. for a second time. Coleman is a tool. After the fight he jumped up on the ropes and started flexings his muscles and shit acting like he knocked Shogun out or something. Then you see that other tool Baroni come back him up when the two camps get in that scrap. Judging by Baroni’s record, he’s probably not the best guy you want to have back you up in a fight against othet MMA fighters. Im not really looking forward to this one sided fight, but I will be looking forward to the beating that Coleman deserves and will get.

did you see after the fight when coleman tries to say i’m sorry and w silva wanted to fight coleman, baroni and rampage in the locker rooms.

by mikeybear on Oct 2, 2008 11:09 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I saw that! I think Wandy was saying something like “its war” and “with me next” And when Rampage shows up Wandy says “you too” They should have thrown down right there.

by JV on Oct 2, 2008 11:21 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

jv: why would they fight for free?

by john on Oct 2, 2008 11:24 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Right! But the way Wandy was worked up, it suprised me he didnt just rush them?

by JV on Oct 2, 2008 11:30 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

actually rampage was just taking the piss the way he always does he was having a bit of a laugh! wanderlei was saying “its war” are rampage was saying “who? me?” and wandy was saying “no him” its was really funny

by the heat on Oct 2, 2008 12:51 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

It was hilarious. Wanderlei to Baroni and Coleman was like “You kick my head in ground. I want you next. It’s war.” Quinton just pops up and goes “Who? Me?…Me?…Nah.”

by RobH86 on Oct 2, 2008 3:13 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Basically, Baroni and Coleman were begging chute box for forgiveness and Wanderlei was bitching everyone out but Rampage, who he wasn’t even talking to anyway!

by john on Oct 2, 2008 3:23 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

wanderlei destroyed rampage twice and i have no doubt that hed murder coleman and baroni

by brendan on Oct 2, 2008 7:31 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

No I didn’t see that part. It wasn’t on the video I watched. But still, my point is they guy acted like he knocked himout or beat him down or something. Not really the case. If anything Coleman got lucky and avoided a beating.

by the_mexicutioner on Oct 2, 2008 11:33 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think I’m after commenting around 4 or 5 times that I can’t wait for thius card since I’m defo going to it
All I’m thinking about is seeing this live while I’m in college

Shogun will tear Coleman apart, wouldn’t be surprised if he does pull out. I agree with John on that one

The Rich/Hendo fight looks real good. I’d say Hendo via decision
Can’t wait to se what else gets added to the card

DAN HENDERSON VS RICH FRANKLIN!!!!!!!!!

It is about time!!!!!!!!

I have gotten promoted at work and REALLY haven’t had time at all to come visit Mania and contribute. I’m lucky if I have 10 mins during the day to read through the headlines. I no longer enjoy coming to work. I used to really look forward to coming in to work so I can read up on Mania and comments for the majority of my work day. More money, but no more fun. I would prefer to be back in my past situation

As you all know, THIS is the fight that I have been waiting to see booked. However, I am very upset that it is taking place in Ireland. I would have made an attempt to see this one live in person no matter where it was in the states.

I read through the thread that announced the fight from yesterday. Most people there have Franklin being the favorite. I am really hoping that he opens as the favorite because if he does, I am betting BIG on Hendo as an underdog. I actually think that both of them will have negative odds, very close to the same, like -115 each.

I’m going to check around to see if anyone has posted odds yet.

by ViolentMike on Oct 2, 2008 11:54 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Well now youve got more money you could get a flight and have a holiday in Ireland for a week or so. They are really friendly people as Ive been there a couple of times myself and have dated a couple of Irish chicks in the past.

You’ll have a great time and get to see the fight of your dreams all at the same time.

Be prepared to drink a lot though if you hook up with any natives!

VM-

Congrats on your promotion. I might be one of the few that has Hendo winning this fight. I think its a bad match up for Ace. As I posted before, I think Hendo goes through Ace like wet paper.

by OJR on Oct 2, 2008 12:54 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I am a huge Franklin fan as we all know, but I dont see how Franklin finishes this fight. I don’t see how Hendo finshes this fight. This fight is extremely close and could go any way. I think Hendo is more well rounded, and it seems that most fighters that have attempted to take down Franklin have. I think Hendo causes huge problems for Franklin by having rocks for hands. I think Franklin is the much more technical striker and is better standing up. I think Hendo could get gassed if he fights how he did against Silva and Pahlarres. I think Franklin though manages to pick apart Henderson, but this fight will be great.

by "Mr. NC-17" on Oct 2, 2008 2:22 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Henderson is much more well rounded, has better knockout power, better clinch, what does franklin have on him really? cant see hendo losing this one. coleman/shogun, gotta go with shogun on that one… hes in his prime while coleman is getting old and hasnt adapted his game much since we last saw him compete… as long as shogun can defend the takedown, and even if he cant he has good submissions, he will take this fight easy!

by brendan on Oct 2, 2008 7:35 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Congrats VM! Although your comments are missed, getting a promotion in this economy is a big plus. How did you manage it when you spent 75% of your work day on Mania? lol

by chefdaddy on Oct 2, 2008 12:57 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

That’s what I’m saying!!!!!!!!!!! LOLOLOL

And I would spend 20% of my day on my lunch break!!!!!!!

THanks for the congrats guys

My wife is actually getting closer to being able to collect dissability (lupus, she’s not retarded or one legged or anything). And if I were to gross less than $1500 per month, she would be elligible for a bunch of extra stuff. Just heard about it over the phone for a few mins, but it sounds like food stamps, free oil for the house, gas and inssurance asistance, plus more. I am looking forward to getting home to read about it. There is a possibility that as a couple, we can bring in more money if I work less hours.

Now that is something for me to think about.

by ViolentMike on Oct 2, 2008 3:14 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

That’s a tough one VM! My last girlfriend was WAY bipolar and got tons of assistance as long as she didn’t make but so much money each month. The moment she would go $.01 over, her benefits stopped. So it was almost as if she was trapped. A good job wouldn’t benefit her, it would hurt her. Only a great job with great bennies would do. Weigh your options VERY carefully!

by chefdaddy on Oct 2, 2008 6:00 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I’m not disappointed it’s in Ireland. I freakin’ love it. It’s only 20 minutes from my home. This will be my 4th event and finally one in Dublin. About bloody time, Belfast before Dublin, what were they thinking. Belfast is a toilet. Full offence intended haha.

Congrats on the promotion Mike.

Considering Shogun looked like crap in his last fight and Coleman looks like Ken Shamrocks drinking buddy, I predict a terrible fight involving boo’s and apologies from a boring decision win by Shogun.

Hendo and Rich will come out after and show ireland a good fight.

by DirtyML on Oct 2, 2008 12:05 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

shogun never has boring fights…

by brendan on Oct 2, 2008 7:37 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i think this is probably gonna be a free card. they want to counter affliction and they have a major ppv two weeks after that event(penn vs gsp super bowl weekend)

by rop122 on Oct 2, 2008 12:34 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I’m a little weary about Mania fans not making too many comments about the upcoming execution of Mark Coleman. It’s gonna be great, I wish I was gonna be there. Yeah, Shogun losses his debut…and now he’s a bore?? No. That’s incorrect info you are spreading. He is going to re-arrange Coleman’s face.

im really suprised the british fight fans arent complaing at the level of fights we are getting in comparison the usa!!
We get fed fights that in comparison are really poor to that of our friends accross the atlantic.

Bisping v leben main event?? I think not!!

griffin v evans
mir v noguiera
wandi v rampage
kongo v mustafa al-turk
Plus the likes of okami/chonan on the same card!!!

This is a very poor way to promote the sport over here,

Then we get Hendo v franklin Main event??

injured shogun v the ancient coleman??

Plus its almost certain as with other shows that somebody will pull out leaving the card really poor!!

We atleast deserve to have the ICEMAN or Tito, or another big name to excite the crowd over here, cos apart from the rampage v hendo fight over here america seem to get all the big fights and cards!!!!

This is making 91 look like shit……… 91 needs some big names too, chuck vs irvin, jardine 2, boetsch?

by ColinD on Oct 2, 2008 9:18 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

91 is so much stronger than 93, the heavyweight title fight, a contender possibility for the lightweight if Florian wins, plus you have gonzaga?! I have no doubt that another big fight will get added also!

There is no reason to be complaining if you live in the usa as there is always a decent card over there, its us in britain who get screwed!!!!!!!

by mo on Oct 2, 2008 9:59 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

i am from ireland really looking forward to the card in dublin but i cant wait for silva vs jackson in las vegas as i will be there in the flesh as i was for silva and chuck last year so suck on that irish fight fans
