Ken Shamrock and Kimbo Slice faceoff for Elite XC fight Oct. 4

"Kimbo has gained a lot of notoriety, but, in my opinion, he doesn’t deserve it. Snap, crackle pop. I am going to walk across the ring, hit him on his ugly beard and break his leg."
Ken Shamrock did not keep his gameplan very close to the vest during today's pre-fight press conference for his fight against Kimbo Slice in the main event at Elite XC: "Heat," which airs on the CBS network, beginning at 9 p.m. ET as part of the third "Saturday Night Fights" special presentation. Do you believe?

Hey, I kinda laughed at john for having dreams of Fedor. But the other night for whatever reason I dreamt that Ken beat Kimbo by armbar! Could it be a vision of things to come???
by JV on Oct 2, 2008 1:35 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I had a vision too of him RNC’ing him. After Kimbo knocks him down and tries to finish him, Ken flips him over and gets his back. Man it would be sweet if that waht happens and put an end to this BS kimbo hype.

Attention ALL!!! Kimbo Slice named the the world’s meanest, toughest, nastiest fighter and a MMA Heavyweight sensation by the Miami Herald….

Yeah, but it’s just the Miami Herald. Their funny pages can be taken more seriously than their reporting.

Not a surprise considering Kimbo hails from that area.
Duh!

Gina looks scrumptious in that picture.
Kobald looks puffy faced. She looks better as a redhead.

Ken looks to be the most roided up grandfather in all MMA.

someone said in here the other day that ken looks like a roided up version of al bundy. i thought that was great! its definatly an accurate description.

That somebody was none other than Psyqo78. Someone else on that post said “do you remember when Shamrock scored 4 touchdowns in one game” awesome…..

The pic actually looks like the movie poster for the upcoming movie “Lethal Weapon: 5, under the cover cops”….stupid but it made me laugh

That was me with the 4 touchdown crack, I demand credit!

I’m pretty sure that Bas would be aware of that as a potential problem vs Kimbo…
by oneshot on Oct 1, 2008 11:30 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
True, although Ken got Bas 2 seperate times with leg submissions. Of course that was roughly 40 years ago.

They also have a “Country Boy” meal at Cracker Barrel. I don’t think Nelson has a prayer against Arlovski, but I like his chances against a huge plate of vittles.

LOL at “vittles”, the best Southern term since “critter.”

I wonder if you could even recognize kimbo without his beard? I bet he would get KO’ed without it.
by BLOodyMEss on Oct 2, 2008 12:15 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
All joking aside it must offer a bit of padding.
A bit like when Tua fought Lennox Lewis he had really long spiky hair and due to the height difference when they clinched all the hair product went in Lewis’s eyes.
Kimbo by hair advantage.

I’m not a professional fighter. I am a professional fan of MMA.
I have watched this sport since the first UFC and this fight is a sad display. These fighters are serious, that fact is not in question, but please can someone tell me what is the end goal of this fight? Perhaps these guys are looking for a title shot? Perhaps these guys are in it for the love of the sport? I love MMA. I hate bullshit. Ken should be training young fighters. Kimbo should be moving towards a title. KIMBO, a win over Ken is useless. Have you thunk about what a loss might equal?
by Counsel on Oct 2, 2008 1:33 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
No be he probably “thought” about what a loss might equal.
by Archer0545 on Oct 2, 2008 7:32 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
And I’m not sure how Ken’s many losses, mixed his POOR coaching on TUF will affect the Lion’s Den. If I lived nearby, and was looking to train MMA, not sure if I’d go there.
by chefdaddy on Oct 2, 2008 8:14 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
your a professional fan of mma yet you dont know the answer to your own question. the goal is money, dont really think kimbo should get a title shot so early like some other folk and ken does train younger folk but when you put a certain amount of money on th table alot of folk will do just about anything

Hope the old man still has a little gas in the tank. If he dosen’t get his clock cleaned, maybe a heel hook. And if that fails, how about a beard hook? Snap it off gramps.

WTF does deleterious mean? One who deletes uncontrollably?
by The Negation on Oct 2, 2008 5:09 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think it means something harmful to your health. Maybe referring to Ken risking his own health by fighting anything more worrisome than a newborn kitten. lol
by chefdaddy on Oct 2, 2008 7:34 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
i thought ken would have been way smaller. looks pretty close to size. i mite take my prediction back now. guess we are going to see in a few days. you never know what can happen in mma. this should be a fun fight. why we got to hate. give it up for this card. better then watching spike tv for a fight we allready paid 45 freaken bucks on. now if ufc showed us some new stuff i would probably watch but you cant beat a free fight like this. cant wait to see both fighters give it there all. hope ken fights a smart game not be stupid.

I’m rooting for Shamrock here, and I definitely think he’s the better fighter here even at his “advanced age”. However, I have a bad feeling that this leg breaking nonsense is just pre-fight antics and he’s going to stand and trade with Kimbo. If he got KOed by Buzz Berry, he’s going to spend some time in the hospital if Kimbo connects with a right hook.
by Eruc on Oct 2, 2008 8:57 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
My goodness, Ken looks old here. It reminds me of some black thug picking on senior citizens and one of the geriatric patients had enough of it so he is finally standing up to the clearly overpowering brute. I hope Ken can pull off the upset though – that’d be sweet!
by haha on Oct 2, 2008 9:57 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
well i never would of picked rashad knocking out chuck so i guess i might as well put my paycheck on shammy knocking out kimbo! that seems like the only logical decision here!! oh yeah my wife is gonna be pissed!!!!

The Miami Herald – 10/02/08 There is another side to Kimbo Slice Article By LINDA ROBERTSON
lrobertson@MiamiHerald.com
“Slice strolled away from his opponent and out onto a balcony. He was smiling. He wore flip flops, and his toenails were painted black. Yes, the world’s meanest, toughest, nastiest fighter uses nail polish.”
Holy horseshit Batman! The reporter who wrote this article should be disbarred for bad reporting. I would love to see who she received this evaluation of Kimbo from… Kimbo and Gary Shaw? She obviously has no concept of MMA and what a MMA fighter is…
“Slice and Shamrock arose from their chairs, stood face to face, clenched their fists, did some more glaring. Slice’s entourage of burly men wearing black, sunglasses and unsubtle gold jewelry moved in. The audience tensed for a prefight fight.”
Kimbo needs to get rid of those Porno clowns. Shamrock no shining star either but the Posse gives MMA a bad name….
by TD on Oct 2, 2008 12:05 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Additionally, the Herald titled him “MMA Heavyweight Sensation”. What a disgrace….
by TD on Oct 2, 2008 12:10 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
While I will admit that Ken was once a great fighter, it seemed that he was no longer that man when he accepted the coaching position on tuf, if we can call that coaching. His last few fights have been embarrassing losses-with little effort on his part. Sure, anything is possible. Even Rich Franklin said that after his win over Sham, he still required a leg brace after the torque Sham put on it. I see Kimbo taking this-with ease.
