Brandon Vera used to be an exciting fighter…I hope he comes out of his slump and ko’s Jardine in the 1st!!!!!

Wont happen

by belfort_fan on Sep 30, 2008 5:25 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yes it will. Vera has had lots of time now to get used to the new weight. He won’t have to worry about getting taken down by some newbee who’s only chance of winning is to hump him for 3 rounds. Vera got way sicker kicks than Jardine and he will be able to throw them freely in this fight. On top of that Jardine has a very suspect chin that will be exposed once again. And all the people who used to be Vera fans will be back once more!

by BNF on Sep 30, 2008 5:40 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

“has way better kicks”

BTW, I can’t watch at work. What does Jardine say?

by BNF on Sep 30, 2008 5:43 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Jardine is no newbee. hes been fighting longer that vera. And did you forget that Jardine was HW once also. Jardine is more well rounded and will win this fight be decision.

by belfort_fan on Sep 30, 2008 5:46 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

He says hes always exciting in his fights. That he wished he could redo the Wandy fight. That Vera was not exciting in his last fight, but didnt lose any respect for him. (things like that) Vera kinda lost me as a fan cause of his constant excuses! Its not easy to go back cause I think Im going for Jardine in this one.

by JV on Sep 30, 2008 6:03 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Thanks JV… I cannot turn my back on him just yet. The Silvia and Werdum fights sucked for him, but whatever. And I was literally yelling at him to KO that last dude. But, he has done some of the smoothest and most exciting stuff in the cage that I still have high hopes. I have a feeling he is going to get a highlight KO on Jardine. I also can’t stand Jardine seeing he has beat 3 of my favorite fighters Chuck, Forrest, and Gouveia.

by BNF on Sep 30, 2008 6:12 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Dont get me wrong BNF, Im not a fan of Jardine! But Vera has made too many excuses for my taste. But we’ll see what happens, Im really looking forward to this fight!

by JV on Sep 30, 2008 6:26 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I am w/ BNF. I will not leave the Vera bandwagon.

Verra will win this fight!

by john on Sep 30, 2008 6:42 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

it’s not the performances that turned me off of Vera (although it didn’t help), it’s his excuses. He’s a LHW and was too stubborn to move down. now the weight loss took its toll, I get that. After this fight, there cannot be any excuses. He wants to headline the UFC in the Phillipines (may from what I hear), he needs to be on the winning track. The only way he headlines is against wand, rampage or chuck, so beating Jardine is a must!!

by kevin doesn't know shit on Sep 30, 2008 6:46 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Jardine will win this fight!

by JV on Sep 30, 2008 6:52 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

It will be a No Contest!

by James S on Sep 30, 2008 7:04 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Jardine will win this fight!.. I am a Brandon Vera fan as well but, I think Jardine is a more well rounded, more seasoned fighter, who is going to overwelm Vera from start to finish. Jardine will have his hands full though IMO.

by belfort_fan on Sep 30, 2008 7:23 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i think vera is the more well rounded fighter personally. I believe he has better standup with his muay thai, he has fast hands and great kicks, he puts his combos together well. He was a collegiate wrestler until he dropped out to pursue fighting, and he has a vastly underrated ground game. I think he has a stronger chin then jardine. I think he will have his weight cutting problem figured out and i dont forsee his cardio being a problem.

by matt on Sep 30, 2008 9:10 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I don’t like Jardine, but I hate Vera, so it can go either way for me. Also, Jardine is absolutely insane if he thinks he wins that Wandy fight 9 out of 10 times. That was the most brutal beating I have seen in the UFC.

by naturalshadow on Oct 1, 2008 1:39 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Some High powered kicks will be on display in this fight!

should be a very exciting math up. I am leaning towards Vera!

head kick to the temple of jardine! And pls. no nipple twisting this time!!

by rp on Oct 1, 2008 3:04 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

The only way I see Jardine losing this, is if Vera comes out super aggressive like Wanderlei did.

by c-war on Sep 30, 2008 5:47 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

yes, the longer the fight goes, the better it bodes well for jardine. plus dont forget folks, jardine has greg jackson in his corner. he’s why jardine is always a threat.

by b.w. on Sep 30, 2008 8:03 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

all you have to do is rush jardine and he doesnt know what to do you think he would have worked on that after the houston fight but it didnt look like he did in the wandy fight, when you charge jardine he is like a deer in the headlights and just doesnt know what to do. I think vera though is better in all areas of the fight game and see him taking this fight and possibly fighting a big name oppenent next possibly wandy or machida next spring

by matt on Sep 30, 2008 9:14 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

sometimes I think these fighters spend TOO much time on breaking down another fighters style…sometimes you need an agressive gameplan (but aggressive while using good defense unlike Chuck Liddell) See Wanderlei SIlva vs Jardine….Wanderlei was throwing to KO somebody not score points and when he had him hurt he attacked relentlessly until he FINSIHED the fight. Thats what I like to see fihgters do. Dont waste time running or being cautious tryin to figure out timing and all that bullcrap. The only good fight a Greg Jackson fighter has had was when Evans KO’d Liddell…other than that most of their fighters fights go to decision or go to the 3rd round in boring fashion.

I’m just in one of those moods…I really do admire technical skills, but I would much rather see brutal KO’s and finishes or relentless “throw caution to the wind” attacks….what can I say? I’m a bloodthirsty fan!

by Chadx23 on Oct 1, 2008 12:41 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

You mean like Nate’s KO over Kampmann or many of GSP’s second round dominations. You can’t be talking about Jardine, there is a KO in the first minute of every one of his fights (every second one being him),LOL. Jacksons camp is FULL of talent and exciting fighters.

by Gord on Oct 1, 2008 10:16 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

yeah i hope he beats jardine. i like vera but his last fight was awful. he had two loses in a row and did whatever he could to not make it a third. he was too cautious and it made a really boring fight. after all his wins over much better fighters(and bigger) i couldnt believe that he didnt finish reese andy. i would like to see a better prepared vera this time around. he did a lousy job on cutting weight and it showed. i think that it could be a great fight. possibly better than the main event.

by allamerican on Sep 30, 2008 6:07 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I really hope this don’t turn out like chuck vs. jardine

by onthebutton on Sep 30, 2008 6:59 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

chuck jardine was a great fight all it lacked was a knock out it was back and forth action the whole time. I dont know what u are talking about man.

by matt on Sep 30, 2008 9:18 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I just don’t like how both of them have showed tendencies of being counter strikers. Jardine was with chuck and made chuck come to him. Vera was countering trying not to get taken down in his last fight. Hopefully they will be thier old explosive selves

by onthebutton on Sep 30, 2008 11:28 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

“Just got caught”.. yeah, nice way to look at the Wandy fight, completely unbiased there…

by chris on Sep 30, 2008 7:17 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

keith sure hasn’t gotten any easy fights lately, he has fought some of the toughest guys his last few fights and if vera fights like he did in his last fight i see keith winning but if vera looks like he did before it will be another tough night for keith.

by roy on Sep 30, 2008 5:21 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Vera will show his old self, guaranteed…

Yep, we haven’t heard a peep out of him in a couple of months. I think he realized he has to do his talking in the cage. Vera is the more talented and well rounded fighter and I don’t see how Jardine will win.

by Gord on Sep 30, 2008 8:38 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think the ufc does not really no what to do with keith. He worked his way up from tuf beating some fellow tufers in kerry schall and mike whitehead, then he fought bonnar in a fight many thought he won, but suffer a unamious decision loss, then in his next two fights he beat wilson gouviea and forrest griffin, then he gets koed by a nobody at the time in alexander, then he goes on to beat the former champ chuck liddell and then he gets murdered by the axe murderer, he is very in consistent and seems to have great days and horrible days and i dont think the ufc knows who to match him up with becuase he either looks great like he did against chuck and horrible like he did against wandy.

by matt on Sep 30, 2008 9:23 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i dont know who to root for. not a fan of either one. but ill say Vera by headkick late 2nd round. why not?

by Ted on Sep 30, 2008 5:23 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I really want Jardine to win. Hes coming off a big loss to silva, and i think he will be hungry in this fight.

by belfort_fan on Sep 30, 2008 5:24 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Good, because Vera will feed him a bunch of punches and kicks,LOL.

Keith Jardine is going to come out with a beautifull game plan watch.

by belfort_fan on Sep 30, 2008 10:44 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I don’t doubt that. Jackson is a wizard at game plans, I just think Vera will be to much for him.

Keith hopes Brandon hasnt learned the rape choke.

lol nice one…

by Chadx23 on Sep 30, 2008 5:30 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

lmao, that was pretty brutal.

by c-war on Sep 30, 2008 5:48 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Nine out of ten times he beats Wanderlei ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!Well he did say ‘in my heart’….

Anyways if Vera cuts weight currectly this time he should whoop Jardine his striking is superior and so is his ground game i wont count Jardine out in this fight doh.

by Khaos_Warrior on Sep 30, 2008 5:29 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

he said the same S*?t when Houston Alexander nearly broke his jaw. This guy can’t take a loss. Damn, boy you did not get caught, you got an ARSE Whoopin. 9.5 times out of 10, Wandy makes you see stars and dream of lollipops.

by dandeman on Sep 30, 2008 6:24 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

“…see stars and dream of lollipops.” LMAO. I gotta use that line!

by OJR on Sep 30, 2008 6:30 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I’d say 100 times out of 100.. I can only imagine how many times Jardine has got beaten up at nightclubs, because he doesn’t know wtf he’s gonna do when someone is rushing him and just puts it on him like you would do to someone in a streetfight..

by RoB on Sep 30, 2008 8:54 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i dont think the outcomes gonna be decided by jardine. he will come to fight like he always does, but if vera fights like he can im sure he will KO or TKO jardine. if he doesnt, jardine can put him away

by medecine balls on Sep 30, 2008 5:37 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I dont picture Vera as the “bumrush and knock your head off type of guy”….look at Wanderlei and Houston’s personalities….those guys dont come in to win fights, they want to KILL YOU. I think it will be a 3 rounder….

by Chadx23 on Oct 1, 2008 12:44 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Maybe not in a wild haymaker style, but he can do alot of damage in the first minute with well placed technical shots. Just ask Mir about that.

by Gord on Oct 1, 2008 10:29 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I’m really starting to like Keith. He seems like he is extremely committed and he seems like a smart fighter as well. Wandi was really hungry in that last fight and trained like crazy so Keith shouldn’t be too upset about that. Vera has a long road ahead of him. I’m not sure who I want to win. I want to see both raise into contention. There are a lot of light heavys that I’d like to see that happen to though.

by RyanHobbs on Sep 30, 2008 5:40 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

i want keith to win just because vera is so damn cocky, and keith seems like hes all hard work and respect. more fighters need to be like that

by medecine balls on Sep 30, 2008 5:46 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

You got a point. Jardine seems to be a smart fighter too. Like Rashad was saying, he could be a future coach.

by RyanHobbs on Sep 30, 2008 9:02 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Brandon really mailed that last victory in. He put on a terrible show that was almost unwatchable. Im taking the Dean on this one because the guy trains with some of the best and he has Greg Jackson helping him with the game plan. Hopefully he isnt too shell shocked from his loss to Wandy.

by stevo on Sep 30, 2008 5:50 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

im thinking this could be a really exciting fight, i dont really see them grappling so it should be mainly a kickboxing fight, of which i cant pick the winner??!
Wandi showed just how dangerous he can be against a very accomplished fighter in Jardine, vera in my opinion has a little to prove in this fight if wants to progress in the division, should be a good fight. I just love how stacked this division is, its hard to even say where this fight takes the winner to in place of rankings!!

by mo on Sep 30, 2008 6:05 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Whoever loses this fight is going to fall way down the ladder. Jardine if he wins is back in the top 7 or so. Vera vs Jardine is two really powerful strikers with fairly well rounded ground games. I think it will be a 2nd round KO but by who is the question.

by scott on Sep 30, 2008 6:16 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Well Vera is way more technical in his striking and I also believe in his defense. But Jardine may have more power in his leg strikes.

Vera is also better on the ground and has way better wrestling.

I say vera wins this fight.

As far as Vera’s past performances. The Werdum stoppage was a joke. Since that nite in the WEC and the UFC we have seen many fights go on alot longer with more damage given and the refs have allowed the fight to continue.

The Sylvia fight I have no idea, he looked scared, timid, slow ect.

But as someone said here earlier. the guy is slick as hell. So he has had a few booring fights, many fighters go thru this.
Vera stepped up his competition and the HW size was big for him at that level. Alot tougher to deal with then I think he thought.

Getting knocked out in the first few seconds of a rd isnt what I call exciting. People get all lathered up over quick KOs.
Funny how silva is back cuz he landed first witha wild haymaker! but yet Liddell who beat him for three rds is washed up. Sometimes a fight means being technical and avoiding damage while delivering it ala Machida or Evans. Vera is slick enough to pull this off at 205.

by Badguy on Sep 30, 2008 6:26 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

excited for this fight… very hard to call. It’s 50/50 if you ask me.

by captainbilldude on Sep 30, 2008 6:55 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

anyone know if Houston Alexander got booted or is he gonna stick around for a couple more fights? I know it’s a little off topic but I’m wanna know!

by sdow on Sep 30, 2008 7:22 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

he has a new 5 fight contract with the UFC, signed it just before the last UFN where eric “the red” choked him out.

by medecine balls on Sep 30, 2008 8:43 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Houston just signed a 4 fight extension before his last loss. He may be on his way out but he is a KO machine if given the opportunity. We may see him on the next Ultimate finale

by city boxer on Sep 30, 2008 7:56 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

but the thing is unless he fights and idiot no one is going to give him the oppurtunity, i think everybody in the lhw division in the ufc has a better ground game than houston

by matt on Sep 30, 2008 10:00 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Ok let’s be real, how can you NOT think that Vera is the clear favourite to win this? this should be close to a one man show if the Brandon Vera we all know comes to the fight! he’s bigger, better kicks, better boxing, reach advantage, better submissions, better wrestling, moves better, better chin.. Jardine is good and wellrounded but Brandon has much better technique and he’s also very fast..

by RoB on Sep 30, 2008 8:34 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Exactly, however the real Brandon Vera has to show up, not that imposter in his last fight.

by Gord on Sep 30, 2008 8:47 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Brandon has to unleash the 205 beast in him. He could forget staying in the UFC if he can’t get past gatekeeper JArdine…

by TheNegation on Oct 1, 2008 3:13 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Love Jardine, this fight should actually be the main event on his name alone. I hope he comes up big and puts Vera away early, with no weight cutting, no early stoppage, no broken hand, etc, ect excuses.

by theCloser on Sep 30, 2008 11:42 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

LOL You’re a hypocrite. Jardine has just as many excuses.

by Pat on Oct 1, 2008 11:40 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah LOL, Jardine has lame excuses, he got KTFO. Vera got ROBBED (he should be pissed). He was telling the ref he was OK and it was CLEAR, he was OK. He couldn’t beat Tim with one hand, so what, no one else could either and Tim should be the one making the excuses why he couldn’t even hurt Vera let alone not finish him. He BEAT Andy, no need for any excuses. ALL fighter make excuses at one time or another,at least Vera’s have some legitimacy, unlike Jardine’s. He got KTFO, end of story. That’s a little different than the moron ref stopping the fight when you DON’T have a SCRATCH on you.

by Gord on Oct 1, 2008 10:50 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

One of the few fights Ill be rooting for jardine… I think im becoming a fan……..

by Colin D on Oct 1, 2008 1:26 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

“Don’t believe the hype, believe what you see.”

All I’ve seen from Vera is sub-par striking and a complete lack of ground game in his last few fights.

I wonder what the odds will be on this, almost even I’d imagine maybe -125 for Vera.

Would not be surprised at all if Jardine won a UD.
