Elite XC fight card finalized for 'Heat' Oct. 4

Elite XC recently announced the official fight card for its "Heat" event, which takes place this Saturday (October 4) from the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida.

There were no changes to the televised main card that airs on CBS, beginning at 9 p.m. ET. The featured fight of the night, of course, will be a heavyweight bout between Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson and Ken Shamrock.

Here's the rest of the main card:

170 lbs.: Elite XC Welterweight Champion Jake Shields (21-4–1) vs. Paul "Semtex" Daley (18-6-2)
265 lbs.: Andrei "The Pitbull" Arlovski (13-5) vs. Roy "Big Country" Nelson (13-2)
140 lbs.: Gina "Conviction" Carano (6-0) vs. Kelly Kobald (16-2-1)
185 lbs.: Murilo "Ninja" Rua (16-8-1) vs. Benji Radach (18-4)

There were, however, a few changes to the under card worth noting.

The middleweight match between 24-year-old Russian knockout artist Alexander Shlemenko (21-3) and Robert "Bubba" McDaniel (11-4) has been pulled from the card. Elite XC officials more thank likely feel the match up deserves some airtime on Showtime's November 8 main card.

Either way, it will no longer be taking place in Sunrise this Saturday, which is a shame because that fight looked like it had some real potential.

Also Mike Aina (9-6-1) has been taken off the card and will be replaced by Conor Heun (7-2) in a lightweight fight against James Edson Berto (14-5-1).

Here's what the entire under card lineup looks like:

140 lbs.: Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos (5-0) vs. Yoko Takahashi (13-9)
160 lbs.: James Edson Berto (14-5-1) vs. Conor Heun (7-2)
205 lbs.: Seth Petruzelli (9-4) vs. Aaron Rosa (11-2)
170 lbs.: Lorenzo Borgomeo (4-0) vs. Mickey Gomez (7-4)
140 lbs.: David Gomez (0-0) vs. Brett Jackowski (1-0)
160 lbs.: Jorge Boechat (3-2) vs. Nicolae Curry (0-0)

Remember, MMAmania.com will be in attendence this Saturday night at the BankAtlantic Center, bringing you up to the minute LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of Elite XC: "Heat."

Check in early and often.

by BlazinB on Sep 30, 2008 2:45 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Im going with: Kimbo, (unfortunately) AA, Ninja, Gina, and Shields. Hey couldnt EliteXC do Kelly Kobald a favor and put her in the poster? I guess thats how much she matters?

by JV on Sep 30, 2008 3:12 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

id rather they just put up two pictures of gina hah!

by medecine balls on Sep 30, 2008 5:38 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Big Arlovski fan here. Really looking forward to watching that one.

by c-war on Sep 30, 2008 5:55 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

no picks here….but why on earth is AA not on the poster?

by Robert on Sep 30, 2008 8:47 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Because he’s not a super-cool unbeatable street fighting ass kicking machine.

by PW on Oct 1, 2008 2:02 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

No pic of Kelly. Elite did that to Kaitlin too. lol.

Honestly the card isn’t bad, but realistically the kimbo vs shamerock is just sad… i like kimbo way more than brock lesnar, and have defended him but fuck fighting Ken is just sad.. its a lion vs a 3 leg kitten, that is blind.. It should be Andrea Arlovski vs Kimbo NOW THATS A FIGHT!!!

by Ricky on Sep 30, 2008 2:56 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

U like Kimbo cause of his personality or somethin, cause his “MMA Skills” are way lacking to Brock?

by MikeD on Sep 30, 2008 3:51 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Ricky, are you high or something? If AA fought Fergie he would cause the first MMA in-ring death. Or AA would just twist his ankle 720 degrees, either way it’s not a compelling fight.

by PW on Sep 30, 2008 4:13 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

your gonna tell me that you wouldn’t watch Arlovski fight Kimbo???

by Ricky on Sep 30, 2008 6:47 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Of course I would watch it, but I would classify that as a feeding for AA, not a fight. Of course, all of Fergie’s fight fall into that category, so bring it on.

Looking really good!

I really want to see if Cyborg can give another awesome performance to set up Carano vs Cyborg.

Ninja vs Radach is a real tough one to call BlazinB.
If Jake Shields can take it to the ground, he should get the win, but Daley has a pretty darn impressive sprawl now a days.

I guess we will see!

anyone know how to get this in the UK?

by blakemore on Sep 30, 2008 3:53 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: In light of Arlovski being added to the card and me not really wanting to miss the Daley/Sheilds fight, I am going to temporarily suspend my boycott of un-Elite XC on Saturday. I definitely will not shell out any money to Elite by going to the even since I’m only about 10 minutes away from the arena, but I will watch it on CBS. I’ll admit that this is a free card that even I cant pass up. Feel free to take your shots at me.

by b.w. on Sep 30, 2008 4:31 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i am glad you are giving them another shot, for free its hard to say no to such a solid card, i hope they don’t do anything stupid to turn away any more fans.

by roy on Sep 30, 2008 4:39 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Hey Mex, you’ll be able to get in for free once they start giving away seats so CBS doesn’t show an empty arena. Enjoy the legit fights, then when Fergie walks out chuck a beer at him and go all Pistons-Pacers on everyone.

by PW on Oct 1, 2008 2:06 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

That hairy Belarusian doesn’t deserve to have your man-love, not when Kimbo’s on the card! And you can try to confuse the masses with talk of Jake Shields, but we all really know Gina Carano is the reason you can’t stay away.

Its cool Mexicutioner! Its a pretty solid card!

by JV on Sep 30, 2008 5:08 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Just go to the event and DVR the card on CBS!
How can anyone pass up watching Arlovski, Nelson, Daley, Shields, Gina, Cyborg, Ninja, Radach, and the spectacle that is Kimbo vs Shamrock?

Support MMA you traitor! :)

by Joseph on Sep 30, 2008 5:17 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yup, good card. I too am more interested in Cyborg than the rest. Ken had his day, he has lost way too many fights, and he was a terrible coach in TUF, i thought it would be the other way around. Anyhow Kimbo just doesnt do it for me. I only watch his fights as I have much respect for his mentor Bas. Gino is very good too. The girls always give it 110% all the time, always put on a good show. They show up the guys alot of the time. Cyborg will go along way in MMA.

by Roy on Sep 30, 2008 5:16 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

i just dont know why they dont use arvlovski as advertisement … who gives a shit about kimbo and shamrock

by decker on Sep 30, 2008 6:16 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I know. How does the Pitbull not even make the poster? Are you kidding? He’s the former UFC HW champion.

by JB on Sep 30, 2008 7:05 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I like your thinking.

by anne on Oct 1, 2008 7:05 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

you are so right why doesnt shamrock put him self in the old folks home and stop with the I deserve respect crap.

by anne on Oct 1, 2008 7:12 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Its funny how everyone on the poster is giving their “mean faces” and there’s Gina smiling away.

by Psyqo78®™ on Sep 30, 2008 6:48 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

but it is a pretty smile though

by anne on Oct 1, 2008 7:08 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I hate Elite XC but must say, that is a pretty solid card that they are televising. Not bad at all. WAR SEMTEX. Can’t wait to see AA fight again. Wish UFC never gave this guy up…Or gave up on this guy.

by raetsinner on Sep 30, 2008 10:02 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

getting the #2 HW in the world is huge for elitexc (no i dont mean kimbo)

arlovski is one of the greatest strikers you will ever have the pleasure of watching

cant wait to see him fight fedor

as long as it doesnt segregate fighters, (like pride vs ufc) and stop the top guys from fighting each other, there is no downside from more mma

elitexc have several exciting fighters, imho their best chance of success is by putting on great fights, even if the fighters are of a lower standard, kimbo ken has the chance to be a great fight

the worst thing that could happen for elitexc is fights that end up lay and pray, aS that will bore new viewers

by bigjohn on Oct 1, 2008 12:24 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I’d put Nog ahead of Arlovski.
