UFC Quick Quote: War Machine on the war path

"So the UFC decided to let me go because of my statements after the death of Evan Tanner. They tried to make it look like I was insensitive towards Evan and that that was the reason I was being cut. In all honesty my bulletin regarding Evan was bashing the UFC and the way they treat fighters and not negative to Evan in any way. if anything I was sticking up for Evan and the way he was mistreated by the UFC just like the vast majority of it fighters. Anyway, since my bulletins and all the bullshit being talked about on the underground several of Evan Tanner's close friends and family members have been in contact with me. 99 percent of them were not mad at all and pretty much let me know that they knew where I was going with the whole bulletin and for me not to worry about hurting any of them directly. SO yeah one of his close friends just messaged me a few hours ago and let me know that the UFC sent NO ONE to speak at his funeral. He let me know how much this saddened the family and how very disappointed they were about it all. This is an EX CHAMPION of theirs, NOT some scrub that fought for them once and thats it. Are you trying to tell me he doesn't deserve any of the UFC brass' presence at his funeral? Doesn't deserve a single kind word or statement of gratitude for the services that he provided their organization?"
-- War Machine -- the fighter formerly known as Jon Koppenhaver before a legal name change to his nickname -- issues a scathing attack on his former employer via MySpace.com dubbed, "Evan Tanner and the faggot ass UFC." The UFC apparently cut the former contestant on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 6 after he refused to take a fight against Brandon Wolff (no upside) and made questionable remarks shortly after the death of Evan Tanner (speculated he committed suicide and he didn't). He may need a muzzle.
(Thanks to BloodyElbow.com for the heads up.)

War Machine brought everything that came his way on his lame-as$ self. If he hates the UFC so much, then why the hell is he still talking about them? He should be happy to be cut and move on. Instead, he’s trying to mask the fact that he’s a chump that’s afraid to fight. I’m glad this punk got submitted in 50 seconds in his last fight. He can’t compete on the UFC’s level.

No. He doesn’t. This kid talks as if he is a seasoned veteran who knows the in’s and out’s of the UFC, or as if he was one of Tanner’s close confidants. In all reality, he is one of the same “scrubs” he was talking about. Perhaps he would’ve stayed in the UFC if he hadn’t gotten “bigger than his britches” about who he was going to fight. He wanted someone “with a name.” What a joke. The only reason this kid’s name is recognized is b/c he legally changed it to something that,in all honesty, is rather ridiculous, not because of his talent in the cage.Someone below made a very good point that the UFC could have been equally criticized for using Tanner’s funeral as publicity if they had showed. Rather, I think they erred on the side of good taste. There was a discussion on a thread last week that had Tanner’s relatives saying how kind and helpful the UFC had been. So. Does War Machine have a point? I doubt it. If he does, is it his place to make said point? No. Absolutely not. The only thing this overgrown child’s opinion should be taken seriously on is how to be a C-level pro fighter, and how not getting mental help will affect you in the long run. Nothing else.

iagoof22: We shouldn’t speculate on something that a guy named War Machine said. Who knows what happened behind the scenes; whether the family wanted anyone attending the funeral, etc. Gotta take everything he says with a grain of salt…after all, he’s a bitter loser.

All this crap will come back to them…sooner or later fighters will start dropping the UFC like flies.

yeah, thats most likley the main point (wich he failed to mention in this blog), getting his butt kicked and then trying to say who he will or wont fight is the same as a letter of resignation in the ufc. roger huerta brought up money issues and lost, i didnt see him getting fired. war machine trying to bring up a a false notion on how the ufc treated tanner(reports ive read have the ufc taking care of tanners family behind the scenes, where it counts most, not some plaque on a wall),is absurd and uncalled for on his part. he’s sounds like he is trying to use tanner’s death as an excuse for his own failures. i think he needs more than a muzzle, he needs about 2 minutes alone in the cage with anderson silva. war machine is an idiot!

I get it, i was a big fan, he’s dead and buried, now let it be. We got free mma coming this weekend then the free ufc, we got better things to talk about, and it’s not rehashing the death of a champion!

Why is he bashing the UFC when he couldn’t even compete for s**t in it. He was barely an employee of theirs..it’s like working at McDonalds for a week, getting fired for overfrying the chiken nuggets and bashing Ronald McDonald, then mulling on to all of your buddies how they treated him and all other employees so badly. War Machine doesn’t know the whole story simply by getting a text from a friend of Tanner’s. Like any good company, I’m sure Evan’s family and those closest to him were sent sympathy and kind regards from the UFC brass.
Not to mention, it would not have been cool to make a spectacle of Tanner’s funeral. In other words, people could just as easily have said the UFC was capitalizing on Tanner’s death by showing up and making it all about the UFC.
War Machine doesn’t have the whole story.
Maybe we should call him Sore Machine.

This guy sounds like a friggin’ knucklehead. He’s probably not smart enough to ever be a good fighter, the best ones all seem to have a good head on their shoulders and this guy seems to have the IQ of a tree stump.
However, if it’s true that the UFC didn’t send anyone to Evan Tanner’s funeral then that is in extremely poor taste. IMHO Dana himself should have been there just to pay his respects. It’s not necessary for him to get up and say anything, unless he was asked to, but simply to show some respect to his former champion.
Not that I believe much this guy says, probably just sour grapes for getting cut by the company he wanted to be part of. And who knows, maybe the UFC were asked not to be there!

I don’t doubt your good intentions but its important to first do no wrong… and if you can.. convey positive messages that are in good taste cuz not everybody is a light hearted like you and me. Evan’s loss was sad, but theres nothing we can do can will change that situation. All we can do is take the lesson out of each mistake, learn, and change for the better. take it easy killa!!
