This is the Evan Tanner I will miss :{

by sbud on Sep 26, 2008 5:02 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

This is what the man became. Nothin’ to be ashamed of at all. Evan Tanner was a stand up guy, he had his problems, but that’s what made his fans just love him all the more.

He beat his demons, and was making his way back to the middleweight title. Yeah, you laugh, I know he lost his last fight, but you know, since when did Tanner ever let THAT stop him ? Just watch any of his fights, hell, just watch the ones the man lost, and tell me that he wasn’t one hell of a champ.

To all the people making negative remarks about the man, not even in the ground yet, and his fans : Tanner didn’t take any corporate sponsors. He WAS the ONLY totally fan-supported guy out there. So stfu if you don’t know wtf yer talkin’ about.

Evan deserves to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Evan was such an inteligent man, so curious of the world. im alot like that. Its a tragic loss to MMA and the world.

he will be a huge loss to the sport, a very humble guy!!

Maybe I’m the bad person in the room, but this is getting old. Anytime anyone dies every one acts like they were some genius or saint. Tanner was a squandered talent that never reached potential and he died because he was crazy and a bad planner. I’m sorry to say but this is just natural selection at work. Ok ban me now.

I’m guessing you ain’t the most open minded of people then although I’m sure you’ve achieved enough in your lifetime to make you an authority on the matter.

Seriously though, I don’t think many people are gonna miss you when you go.

Were not talking about me were talking about Tanner. Good contribution though.

Amen, I couldn’t have said it better.

EazyEismydad, I mean…

It was the same thing I was thinking, but I wouldn’t be the first to say it. Every time there is an article on Evan it seems like his funeral all over again. We get it, it sucks that he died. But where were all you loving fans when he lost to Da Spyder? If you go back and look at the entries from that day you won’t see such love. I remember a lot of people calling for him to retire because he was old and slow. Just saying is all.

good post jay couldn’t say it better myself…except i did and got omitted.

the thing that annoys me is the ppl that were constantly calling him r now saying how great he was pretty hipocritical IMO

he probably was a great guy i dont know enough about him to judge that

I’m sure nobody is going to act like you are a genius or a saint when you die, so that will disprove your theory.

Hope you gain some kind of insight into what makes life important before you do.

never reached his potential…how many people can watch dvds and become champ?

by ******** on Sep 27, 2008 5:08 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Alcoholic tendencies and long breaks from the sport to soul search. Sorry, you don’t see current contenders doing that.

by EazyEismydad on Sep 27, 2008 11:40 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Evan Tanner was just a good guy in general. Anyone that has trained with him or that has simply met him will tell you that. He wanted to help people and he spoke about it publicly. You can’t name many other fighters that are doing that. As far as his career went, yeah he was having trouble, but with all that he had overcame, he was doing pretty good. Oh and for the record, I was cheering for him and I was very upset at seeing him lose to Kenall AND Okami.

Anyone else besides me thinking that leben is going to wlk through bisping? If the same leben that fought sakara faces bisping, bisping is going to get smashed unless he pulls a machida or kalib starnes. LOL can you imagine if leben wins then cote wins, theres your new coaches for tuf. Give Hendo a wounded Silva.

nice post, if I did that, I’d get 50 or so responses…sorry colin, you may get 3!!

by kevin doesn't know shit on Sep 26, 2008 6:43 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

couldn’t agree more.. but it is in the UFC best interest to have bisping win the fight… that way the TUF england vs America would be an even bigger success….

p.s. Even tanner rest in peace..

P.P.S god i hope randy wins against brock… then he’ll face big Nog (dream Matchup)and IF he wins that will determine if hes #2 HW behind fedor…

by Ricky on Sep 26, 2008 7:15 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Cote didn’t win the ultimate fighter so the whole TUF vs. TUF wouldn’t work. But Forrest vs. Rashad works because at least they both won.

by jay on Sep 26, 2008 7:45 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Oh yeah and Cote is Canadian not American.

by jay on Sep 26, 2008 8:02 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

randy vs nog would be a good match but getting past brock will be no easy task, even if he does you are forgetting about mir, mir has the advantage standing and has good enough skills not 2 get sub’d i can see mir pulling the upset.

When Chris Leben fought Sakara, I don’t think he knocked him out. Looked like an early stoppage to me so that fight really pisses me off.

THIS WAS POSTED ABOUT 2-3 WEEKS AGO!??!?!!?!!?!!?!??

by GORANDY on Sep 26, 2008 8:14 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I was thinking the same thing…

by RyanHobbs on Sep 27, 2008 5:37 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i swear if i hear of any more people that think cote has any shot of surviving much less winning im going to sh*t myself.

by day1er on Sep 26, 2008 11:55 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

ok great now let tanners family and his soul rest in peace,it makes the greiving process really difficult for the family to cope with this in news fronts and blogs ,so lets make this the end ,and if we cared tht much about evan we’d remember him as he was positivly and keep dragging the stories and shit throught the news let the man rest in peace
