Doesnt matter how true it is, Why does Dana have to run his mouth about a man thats willing to get in the cage and fight? Its just tasteless and classless on Dana’s part. He just makes himself look petty because he doesnt need to bash other organizations fighters when his company is head and shoulders above the competition. U think we dont know that Kimbo would get crushed by a wrestler or a jits fighter? No crap, but why does Dana have to stoop so low to tell us.
What pisses me off is he makes himself out to be a HATER! If Elite Folds Today, Kimbo would be under contract with the UFC by tomorrow, and then what does Dana say when he sells him to us in a big fight?
Dana needs to shut his mouth and show respect to any man willing to get in a cage and bang it out. After all, fighters he hates on TODAY, could be UFC employees TOmorrow!
I respect any man willing to get in their and fight with the exception of:
Kalib Starnes
Jeremy May
Sam Hogar!

Gee, John, Dana is running a competing promotion. What’d you expect him to do, hype the opposition? Should Elite fail tomorrow (not that it would be a surprise), I’d be shocked if Kimbo’s services were retained.

Dana is all about money. Of course they would sign Kimbo, there is lots money to be made with him! Dana is in desperate need of higher a publicist, to steer him in the right direction and make him aware of the financial consequenses of his verbal diarrhea.

If Elite folds, I would like to see dana sign Kimbo and bring back Cro Cop and match them up. Not sure why.

would he really be making any money if the ufc signed him? sure at first but if he cant beat real fighters than who wants to watch a ppv headlined by someone that never wins?

I’d say I have to agree and disagree. Dana has every right to talk down another fighter, I’d say the fact that Kimbo is over hyped and recieving way to much attention makes sense for him to cut him down a level or two. To flat out ridicule a man who steps in the cage is wrong but that does not mean he has to respect Kimbo for stepping into a right. I don’t respect Shamrock stepping into a ring anymore either. If you don’t belong you shouldn’t be doing this. Kimbo should be fighting for lower orgs and not be on a national scale. You can’t promote your oganization as an elite bunch of fighters if Kimbo is included. Not only is Kimbo one dimensional but he also lacks any real stand up skill and any endurance. The guy does not belong in a cage and does not belong on the main event of any card. I’d also like to say there is absolutely no chance that Dana would bring Kimbo to the UFC, that’d mean they have to find him cans to fight which would undermind the point of the ufc. Plain and simple, Kimbo deserves nobodies respect for stepping into a ring he does not belong in.
by Cogito Ergo Sum on Sep 24, 2008 11:15 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Ted, that is the perfect point. We all know Kimbo isn’t close to the level of any of the UFC guys. Let’s look at who is at the bottom of the list in the HWD in the UFC. Ok can Kimbo beat Jake O’Brien or Cain Velasquez? I don’t know, but I don’t think so. So if you match him up against someone like that just to make it a fair fight to get Kimbo’s feet wet, and he can’t beat them, then there is no money to be made.
Guys put your opinions aside sometimes and look at the facts!
by sawyer on Sep 24, 2008 11:16 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think Kimbo sucks, but the fact is his last fight was the Main Event on a major network channel. You cannot deny that people want to watch him. If he came to the UFC he would be a major draw for his first few fights. How is Dana supposed to hype someone he says sucks. Dana sells these fights, so again how can he convincingly sell a fight with a guy who “sucks”. It is just foolish, especially considering all the news lately of XC’s debt and the possibilty they will fold.
by BNF on Sep 24, 2008 11:26 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
BNF and john your getting the idea that Kimbo will go undefeated before EXC folds. Dana doesn’t need to worry about this because even with EXC trying to give Kimbo cans he is still having problems. Watch Ken Shamrock tap him out and his selling value drops, watch him keep dodging Grim and when they fight and he loses his stock will drop even more. Your going off speculation and Dana is saying Kimbo isn’t supposed to be on this scene, he should still be fighting in his backyard cause these guys are gonna kill him. Kimbo is not a professional MMA artist, he is an unskilled brawler with a great chin and some heavy hands but can get himself hurt in the world of MMA.
by Cogito Ergo Sum on Sep 24, 2008 11:45 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
i think john forgets the ufc puts a “as long as you’re performing” clause in there contracts so kimbo might get signed but who would he fight? all there HW division is is wrestlers or jits guys that are quite talented with the exception of kongo who would no doubt bash kimbo’s face in so he might last 1 or 2 fights if he ever was signed
by randy murders on Sep 24, 2008 11:56 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
John, I fought for two years and as a fighter, it’s a slap in the face to build up a farce based on a big beard and You Tube fat-man fights while real fighters go underpaid. Kimbo sucks, Dana is a great business man, and you’re pretty good at collecting news. However, I’m not sure you are the best at analyzing it.
Don’t get me wrong. I don’t hate Kimbo, it’s the circus that annoys me. And if you want to insult the promotion, you have to point out that Kimbo sucks. And I’m sure Kimbo can take being called names as he laughs his way to the bank.

Cogito, I think the entire point is being lost on Kimbo. This is about Dana and his mouth. He talks sh*t about Kimbo, he talked sh*t about Fedor, if Brock didn’t sign with the UFC, I am sure he would have talked sh*t about him as well. Dana’s ego is out of control and I just hope we don’t have to suffer as fans in the future for some of his verbal attacks!
by BNF on Sep 24, 2008 12:08 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I see your point BNF but I have to say Dana is justified in down talking Kimbo. He was not quite justified in his talk about Fedor and I do think he would have talked trash about Brock if he had signed another org. But heres the point behind his trash talking… Prove him wrong. He is calling out these other fighters to prove him wrong, Fedor did and Dana had to back track. He took Brock and Brock has proven his worth. All thats left is for EXC to give Kimbo some real fights and Dana will have to back track. Dana can talk as much trash as he wants, its only burning bridges if the fighters he’s talking the trash about can prove him wrong. In this case Kimbo cannot.
by Cogito Ergo Sum on Sep 24, 2008 1:17 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
CES. all good points. dana did say he was impressed with fedor’s performance over big dummy (what choice did he have?) and would do the same if kimbo beat someone legit, even brett rogers would be a huge step up. now that fedor is probably going to fight another freakshow in japan and not fight for another 6-9 months after (going by his history over the last 4 years) and elite will probably never let kimbo fight someone who has a decent chance to beat him, dana will be all over them, calling them out and putting them down. he will be justified until they, like you say “prove him wrong”. i honestly dont think fedor or kimbo give a crap what dana says, he does’nt sign their checks, but their fans sure seem to.
by b.w. on Sep 24, 2008 2:11 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Don’t worry man the fact that Dana even says Fedor or Kimbo is showing that Dana does not know what he is doing in these regards. He should never bring any mention to Fedor period because all Fedor needs is a couple of new fans looking his way and he’ll scoop them up with his fighting performances. Saying Kimbo is terrible and doesn’t belong in the sport only goes to put interest in Kimbo as well. Though I don’t think either org Affliction or EXC will last, they are getting free publicity from Dana. And your right Dana doesn’t sign their checks and bad mouthing someones favorite fighter can burn bridges with fans just as much as it can with a fighter. There are both positives and negatives to what Dana is doing. If the fighters can’t prove Dana wrong he has legitimate ground to stand on but he is also giving them free publicity and the chance to prove him wrong.

Cogito what you’re missing here is that your favourite Dana White is talking out of his ass!! Dana should stay out of these kind of interviews and not try so hard to be a superstar himself.. I mean this guy does not have the right to disrespect any fighter in the sport, he’s only doing it now because he’s at the top, it would be fun to see what Dana would say if another organization becomes more succesful than the UFC..
by RoB on Sep 24, 2008 3:05 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
The UFC might sign Kimbo if Elite XC folds, but you said how would they hype him for a big fight? He wouldn’t be in a big fight because he isn’t a big time fighter! He would be fed to Cain Valesquez or dare I say Brock Lesnar (unless he is champ), get DESTROYED, and never be heard from again!
by Harrison on Sep 24, 2008 3:18 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Rob the interviewer asked him the question. Its not like he held a press confrence to say Kimbo Slice sucks. Seriously are you even reading what I’ve written. I’ll tell you what everyone on this site has two things an opinion and an a$$ and most of them tend to use one with the other. The fact that Dana has cameras constantly in his face doesn’t change the fact that his opinion stands hand in hand with ours. Your mad because he’s getting this publicity when he shouldn’t be? Thats kind of funny because I think thats why he’s talking about Kimbo… because Kimbo is getting publicity when he shouldn’t. It only takes a minute to sit down and think this stuff through but when you want to try and type your opinion to debunk mine your not putting any effort into your writing and it shows.
by Cogito Ergo Sum on Sep 24, 2008 3:40 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
ROB. its not like dana is having these big press conferences to diss kimbo or fedor, he is just giving his honest opinion, when asked by a reporter, who is most likely trying hard to get these kind of responses from dana. i saw a reader complain the other day about dana being on the front of a tuf video, saying that he is tired looking at danas face. im a big fan of danas and get a littled tired of seeing him too, but he is a big part of the tuf program(he’s on every show) and i dont remember seeing him the cover on any other ufc dvd’s. i think alot of people forget the fact that not only is dana the president of the ufc, he is THEIR PROMOTER as well. up till recent, he has been their only promoter, he has to speak in public constantly, he doesnt have a choice, it’s his job! if no reporters asked him about other orgs or its fighters, he wouldnt even mention them. dana is not mr.pc, thats what i love about him. CONGITO makes a good point, dana talking about them period, good or bad, brings them a hell of alot more attention than they would get if he did’nt mention them at all.
by b.w. on Sep 24, 2008 3:41 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
okay, i know what you’re saying but Dana does not have to give the reporters interviews like this, Press conference or not it’s still going out in media.. also if Dana had the fighters that Elite XC does what would he do? he would promote Kimbo cause he is their biggest star and really the only money fighter they have, i agree with Dana that Kimbo sucks but he’s only had like 3 fights so i just dislike Dana taking the opportunity to talk bad about fighters to media even if it brings them some attention he should concentrate on his own fighters that are getting paid like slaves…
by RoB on Sep 24, 2008 5:40 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I’m not sure if you knew this but slaves don’t get paid. Also what if Dana White owned all the orgs… just speculation man. Put yourself in his place if you want to try and put him in th place of another org. If you were Dana White I don’t think you could do half the job he has done with the UFC. UFC was on its way into the gutter when they took it over but here I’ll speculate if Dana were to own EXC.
He would first start scouting for new up and coming talent and then make a reality series show to support them. He would mention the UFC as much as possible to get his competition looking like a competing competition to the UFC. He would look for veterns of the cage to add to his promotion and not only work on furthering their careers but also have them face some of his new talent to get his fighters name recognition. If he were to have a fighter like Kimbo, he would not have Kimbo as the main event of every fight card he has. He would also work on the stage production of his company and not sell it out like what has been shown on CBS. He also wouldn’t take any bull from fighters unwilling to defend their belt. I’d say if Dana owned a new company he’d do the same thing he did with the UFC when it was young. “What say you now?”

I know that slaves are not getting paid, but in comparison to other sports these guys make nothing and i think that can and needs to change in the UFC cause they have the money today in MMA.. Im not questioning what Dana and the Fertittas have done with the UFC, they came in at a good time when the sport was nothing and they were lucky to have guys like Ortiz, Liddell, Couture.. but i think that the fighters should get paid better these days and Dana should take it easy with disrespecting fighters in interviews one day he might not be so succesful when no one wants to sign with the UFC cause he’s an ass and that might happen sooner than we know, i don’t think he will be laughing when dissing a fighter in an interview then.. it’s just a shame that we’re even discussing about a president when the fighters are the one’s that should be in the spotlight

i wonder whay Bas Rutten thinks about all of this dana negativity towards is pupil kimbo. Bas has seen it all and done it all when it comes to mma/fighting. he’s been involved in the sport and in fighting probably before dana white got out of high school. so for me, if Bas is sold on kimbo’s abilities and believes he is good and has potential, well that’s good enough for me. I am far from a Kimbo fan, and have no reason to back the guy up….but, Dana is the same guy that said “Fedor is overrated” before trying to sign him, and “Tito will never fight in the UFC again” before re-signing him.
Dana says that any fighter not in the UFC “sucks”…then signs them. Then “he is the best OF ALL TIME !!!!!”
Take his comments for what they are worth….squat.
Kimbo is a guy that has had 3 friggin’ fights, but has all the potential in the world. He seems like he is doing the right training and conditioning, and I see no reason he won’t be a force to be reckoned with one day….then Dana will sign him.

I used to think Kimbo was doing all of the right things too until he said he needed to smoke less. Woah, what? Smoke? You are in a sport that requires you to have great cardio and you smoke?! Not to mention the drinking and party lifestyle. Just like what Chuck needs to cut out of his life. I am a Kimbo fan just because I like to watch him fight. Why not? I liked watching him fight street thugs on youtube. What’s the difference? I certainly don’t see him as what he is hyped to be, but it’s entertaining to see him fight.

“all street” yeah, unless your name is Brett Rodgers. Then he will be all up in your face but never want to fight you. Face it this Kimbo guy is a joke and is a money making machine for different individuals including Bas. He has no talent other than the publicity he made beating up drunks on the street. Gary Shaw and probably Bas made sure that he didn’t see better competition in the cage as well.
If I was Dana I would also try to discredit Kimbo just for the respect that real MMA veterans deserve. Kimbo is quickly becoming the face of the rough n tough new sport of MMA, us fans know that he would never make it against top level competition, but for new fans its a shame that they don’t get to see real fighters such as Fedor, Sergei, Nogueira, GSP, etc… real fighters who deserve more publicity than this joke who gets it because he is “all street”

I think its funny that he said that. I like Kimbo, he has alot of potential. There is no doubt about it. I just think he started in the game way too late. He probably is too old to get his ground game above average at best. He is a banger, tho, and that is what people want to see alot of the time. I dont “hope” to see him lose, really, but I do want to see how he handles defeat.
He is actually a very stand up guy who is just trying to support his family. He is always respectful in his interviews and seems very down to earth.
Not surprising to see so many haters tho. Not surprising to see so many nut-huggers either, tho. I just like the fights myself.

Now the Shields/Daley fight I’ll watch and I love watching Ninja regardless of who he’s fighting but nothing about Kimbo makes me interested especially when he’s in a main event against a guy who is 44 and has been KOed in his last 5 fights. That’s not a good main event if you’re an MMA fan. But some of the other fights on the card aren’t bad.

What you do expect, dana to lie? He’s just telling it as it is. I think it’s funny that the only way he’d let kimbo in the ufc is if Kimbo goes on the ultimate fighting show, only to get knocked out by some 23 year old.
