October is going to be an amazing month of mma. Starting with the EliteXC event. Yes I am actually looking forward to the ElitexC event and why wouldn’t I? daley vs. Sheilds has the makings of an amazing fight unless Daley is completely overwhelmed by Sheild’s ground game. There are so many other match ups to look forward to in October:
Bisping vs. Leben
Vera vs. Jardine
Sanchez vs. Alves
The destruction of Cote by Anderson Silva
and countless others. This will be a memorable month in the history of mma, kind of how July was.
Should be a great month!

While October holds the possibility of many great fights, I’m chomping at the bit for TUF tonight! I can’t remember the last time this show actually got me psyched up, but if it’s anything like last week, it should be an hour of solid entertainment!

It’ll especially suck as I’ve screwed my days up so early in the week!!! This has had me actually mildly depressed this a.m., as, with no fight to watch, that means I have no excuse not to visit parents’ house to see relatives I don’t like who are in town. God’f’in d@mnit, just thinking of having to visit with those nitwits is now making me a little p.o.ed!

Yeah, Dream 6 would get you through the day. Even if it’s delayed, hehe!

Yes people should stop whining about UFC89 its ok some good fights! the problem is yet again a top fight is off a UK card (Machida v Silva) and this happened yet again after 80 per cent of tickets were sold! this makes me want to punch dana in the face.
by Tony on Sep 23, 2008 10:17 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
they should just give Machida a can
by McArthur on Sep 23, 2008 10:38 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Machida has stated that he only wants to add names to his resume, no more cans for him.
by Cogito Ergo Sum on Sep 23, 2008 1:53 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
No cans, to show how legit Machida is!

How can you possibly blame Dana for Thiago Silva’s injury? That makes no sense whatsoever! Everybody knows fighters get injured. UFC 89 is free, how can you complain. I paid a lot of money for UFC 84 tickets and part of that was to see Thiago smash Rashad’s face in, guess what, they moved Rashad to a UK card that he never fought at, no injury, just moved him because someone else got hurt. There is something to complain about, but I can’t because 84 was the best card of the year anyways!

yeah but i paid alot of money for a ticket for ufc 89 and again iv been robbed of a world class fight

I feel your pain, but what is the solution? Machida wants a title shot, so is he supposed to fight a can? Everyone else is booked… It is still a great card and once you are there with a beer in your hand you will forget all about Machida/Silva, trust me!

its a little weird that thiago silva pulled out a good 2 months from his fight… is that not enough time for an injury to heal?
by brendan on Sep 23, 2008 4:00 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I don’t know how your thought process works but yeah it might be enough time to heal, but should he start training for the fight during the injury or after the injury is healed. Niether seems to make sense so I think trying to call out Thiago for ducking makes little to no sense.

Also, wasn’t his a back injury. That is not a spot on your body that can be rushed. He needs to do the right thing so it doesn’t become a reoccurring injury.
by BNF on Sep 23, 2008 5:00 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, back injuries are bad, check out Tracy McGrady’s career, lol!

Come on BNF 8 weeks and you can just tell Dana didn’t even try to put another decent fight on this card. Its not fair for ticket buyers plain and simple! he could of replaced this fight.
by Tony on Sep 23, 2008 11:28 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Its overseas you can’t just replace a fight like that. You have to get used to the time change which takes more time as well. Giving fighters such a short time to prepare and on top of that its not like he could just ask another fighter to fill in for Thiago. People already have passed fighting Machida because they didn’t have enough time to train… what do you think they’ll say when they don’t have enough time to train while Machida has been training this whole time. So no its not Dana’s fault that he couldn’t find two new fighters to place on a card thats overseas with short notice.
by Cogito Ergo Sum on Sep 23, 2008 11:53 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I agree with not having enough time to train for a particular fighter but it doesn’t take 6 weeks to adapt to the time change.
by UKmmaBOY on Sep 23, 2008 12:28 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Your right but add actually training with their own camp to that six weeks. Many fighters like to spend a week or two over in the country they’ll be fighting in. Subtract that from the two months they have to train and you get your six weeks however if you think about it is that enough time for a high caliber oponent? I think most people will agree you want more than a month and a half to train for a big name fight (any big name fighter not just Machida). The only option is either have a can try to face a big name or have two relative unknowns step up which I wouldn’t really care for.
Also most of fighters who would step in on short notice are also already booked to fight.

the overseas argument is a little ridiculous considering both machida and silva are from brazil and have to jump on a plane no matter if the fight was in the UK or USA
by brendan on Sep 23, 2008 4:01 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
What are you talking about man? Nobody cares about it for Silva or Machida because they were supposed to be fighting on this card. Its to point it out that it would affect a replacement fighter. Since Machida has already had ample time to train he’d be ok to take time off to adjust to the time change, a replacement fighter would have to cut into his already shortened training schedule to do the same.
by Cogito Ergo Sum on Sep 23, 2008 4:37 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Okay, what fight would have been a satisfactory replacement? Please enlighten me. Don’t get me wrong, I would have loved to see that fight and am dissapointed it is off the card as well, but sh*t happens and the UK fans should know the deal after the cursed UFC 85 card.

Can’t help but notice they’re saying “Live and Free” on Spike.
The start time is 9 o’clock EST.
So they’re doing it at 2 a.m. in England?
Free, yes. Live, no.
by Dredg on Sep 23, 2008 12:57 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Are you sure it’ll be 2 A.M. in England? There were a couple of guys on here who are from the UK region who didn’t like the fact that the fight took place in the afternoon on the last England fight card. Anyone from the U.K. care to elaborate?
by Cogito Ergo Sum on Sep 23, 2008 1:51 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
He was being sarcastic. The fights will not be shown live here in the states. It will be tape delayed, otherwise, here on the west coast they would show it at 12 noon, like they do with the UK PPV’s.

Hehe, well here in the Philippines, people love to get pissed up so much that Sept.1 is the official start of Oktoberfest…Believe it or not…That’s because of this one major beer company that wants to cash in on the Oktoberfest fever, so they add a month to it to get more money. Fu*k those corporate cunts, but I like the beer!

there was 8 weeks not 6… I thought Wandy or Rampage vs someone. like? MACHIDA! Dana has ripped us off imo.
by Tony on Sep 23, 2008 4:28 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Wandy and Rampage are fighting each other at UFC 91, get over it!

No doubt lol, I kind of hope this whole card gets cancelled just to spite you man. Its ridiculous your acting like a baby over something that cannot be changed.
