Tito Ortiz joins battle to knockout dog fighting

Props: PRWeb.com
Quoteworthy:
"There are two kinds of warriors in this world. Those that are heroes by fighting for those who can't stick up for themselves, and those that are cowards by terrorizing and torturing the innocent. Dog fighting is animal abuse and those who fight dogs are not cool or tough ... they are cowards."
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz is keeping busy while on the sidelines, joining the For Pits' Sake Inc. awareness campaign to "Knock Out Dog Fighting." "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" is also expecting twins with retired porn queen and girlfriend, Jenna Jameson, according to the NY Daily News. Despite a recent announcement that he had agreed to a record contract with Affliction MMA, Ortiz still remains a free agent. He has not competed since a unanimous decision loss to Lyoto Machida at UFC 84: "Ill Will" back in May. For what it's worth Ortiz has just one knockout to his credit in his 22-fight professional mixed martial arts career, which was against Evan Tanner via slam at UFC 32: "Battle on the Boardwalk" in 2001.

What does that have to do with anything? Does Machida have ANY KO’s?

“Tito Ortiz joins battle to knockout dog fighting”
See, they use knockout in the phrase on the poster. That is what Mania is getting at.
And yeah, Machida KO’d Rich Franklin.

tito is dead on when he says that people who fight dogs are cowards!!! that couldn’t be more true. if they werent’ cowards, instead of putting money on their dogs in a fight, they’d put that money on themselves against the other dogs owner. i don’t know about anyone else, but i’d much rather watch 2 men go bareknuckle any day than to watch two dogs be made fight! problem is though that the guys fighting dogs haven’t got the stones to go bareknuckle!

This genius is such a good business man, and had such a good plan, that we may never see him fight again. I’m hearing that what he wants as far as a contract are just ridiculous. No matter what, he’s still a draw, don’t be surprised if we see him (dealing directly with Fertitta) back in the UFC. Affliction won’t be around long enough to sign or pay him, and elite can’t afford him and also may not be around long enough!

I have a pit bull and everyone that don’t know him is scared. Truth is, he, and EVERY OTHER pit that I have met (at least 40) have all been this way. Pit Bulls instinct is not to fight each other or attack. In fact, they are one of the most loyal breeds of dogs and they will do anything to please thier owner. The dog fighters force them to fight.
WHenever I watch Animal Planet and I see stuff about Pit Bulls and how these “street thug dog fighters” treat them, it SERIOUSLY makes me want to KILL PEOPLE LIKE THEM! Mistreating dogs is one of the few things that I don’t put up with and I interfere whenever I see one mistreated.
Michael Vick had something like 72 fighting pit bulls locked up on his property. Of them, only ONE had to be put down because of its aggressive nature (it could not be corrected) and another had to be put down due to health reasons. 12 of them were sent to an animal sanctuary to live free with other dogs, and the other 60 or so are ALL living in homes with families and even children now.
My parents just got a female Golden Retriever puppy and I brought Carmelo (my dog) over to meet her for the first time. My parents had company and they were terrified that we were letting the puppy out of the crate in front of a pit with such a big mouth. He hardly paid any attention to her and tail waggin the whole time. The puppy was actually kinda scared. LOL, but she’s tiny.
Did I ever mention on here that I love pits??

LOL, just reread my post and forgot that the 2nd sentence should have been something like

Vm: I got a pit as well. Close to 100 lbs, but he is the nicest Dog EVER! I found him half dead in a dumpster, from an abusive owner or a fight gone bad, now he is the chillest dog ever!
and so obedient. I never have seen a dog as obedient as my dog “Dollar”. He will even listen to guest who he has never seen before. its just amazing!
Pits are just amazing animals. Only problem is when I lock him out of my bedroom to get “busy” with my girl he gets all damn jealous and scratches on my bedroom door until we come out. He has been scratchin almost all the paint off my door. Other then that, NO COMPLAINTS!
Did any of you guys see the new Can’s of Micky’s? The have a portrait of Tito on the cans!

not that I’m disagreeing but many pits have chemical inbalances that create bi-polar type personalities that are almost impossible to detect as dogs can’t speak…its sad but many pit owners are unaware of this and are often surprised when these tendencies come out…they can be dangerous without warning…as a dog owner myself I understand that many people believe that their dog IS the kindest gentlist dog there is until it happens to them
by McArthur on Sep 22, 2008 4:27 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Seriously man? Im not trying to be rude but thats just an ignorant statement!! pitbulls are like any other dogs, to think they have a chemical inbalance or have a locking jaw is stupid and nothing more than a stereotype…
I have 3 pitbulls and have made 2 of them champions in conformation and obedience…. its all about 2 things when having a pitbull, where you get the dog and how its raised.. if raised right a pitbull is a special dog and only owners fully understand how smart, loyal and just what great dogs they are.
by mike22 on Sep 22, 2008 4:53 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
McArthur, I’ve read that, so I know what you’re saying… but if raised or trained by a knowledgeable and committed owner the Pitbull would respond just like any other ‘good’ dog. ‘game’ traits in pitbulls can make them more of a danger than the average dog ‘because’ of unknowledgable or bad owners.
by THORAZINE on Sep 22, 2008 9:26 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Its not a medical fact its bullshit!!!
These dogs have been breed and raised for fighting for a long time and if you get a pitbull that has fighting in his background yea you could have some problems…
You get a pit from a good breeder with a good bloodline you will have a smart loyal dog!
Just imagine if labs were breed and raised to fight?
Do you think they would still be the same loving dogs?
Again its just ignorant to think that an entire breed has a chemical inbalance that makes them crazy!
by mike22 on Sep 23, 2008 3:11 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
That’s awesome John!!! I got mine from an Animal Shelter when he was just a lil put. He and 3 siblings were found in the dumpster at the mall of all places when they were just weeks old.
by ViolentMike on Sep 22, 2008 4:48 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
My brother-in-law’s female pit is the most loving loyal dog he has ever had too. However, it took six adults using all of their strength to get that thing off of my beagle when she tried to kill it at Thanksgiving this year. But she is quite loyal and really well behaved.
Pits are great dogs, until they decide to kill something. Then, good luck!
by DDT on Sep 22, 2008 4:31 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
yea lol….some pits have a REAL strong prey drive, but 99% are great with people and wouldnt harm an infant, my uncle has a pit like this. It killed like 2 dogs and 1 cat in its lifetime but never bit one person. The cops had to mase it and beat him half to death with their night sticks to get him off of one of the dogs he killed. It was raised from the time it was a puppy in my uncles house and even did great with his 2 kids when they were born. Pits are horrible gaurd dogs because they love everyone and always want to play, only downfall is that some of them just do not get along with other animals, and there is no other dog that will stop a Pitbull.

Pitbull facts:
Pitbulls are mammals
Pitbulls fight ALL the time
The purpose of pitbulls is to flip out and kill people.
Testimonial:
Pitbulls can kill anyone they want! Pitbulls cut off heads ALL the time and don’t even think twice about it. These guys are so crazy and awesome that they flip out ALL the time. I heard that there was this Pitbull who was eating at a diner. And when some dude dropped a spoon the Pitbull killed the whole town. My friend Mark said that he saw a Pitbull totally uppercut some kid just because the kid opened a window.
And that’s what I call REAL Ultimate Power!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you don’t believe that Pitbulls have REAL Ultimate Power you better get a life right now or they will chop your head off!!! It’s an easy choice, if you ask me.
Pitbulls are sooooooooooo sweet that I want to crap my pants. I can’t believe it sometimes, but I feel it inside my heart. These guys are totally awesome and that’s a fact. Pitbulls are fast, smooth, cool, strong, powerful, and sweet. I can’t wait to start yoga next year. I love Pitbulls with all of my body (including my pee pee).
Q and A:
Q: Why is everyone so obsessed about ninjas?
A: Pitbulls are the ultimate paradox. On the one hand they don’t give a crap, but on the other hand, Pitbulls are very careful and precise.
Q: I heard that Pitbulls are always cruel or mean. What’s their problem?
A: Whoever told you that is a total liar. Just like other mammals, Pitbulls can be mean OR totally awesome.
Q: What do Pitbulls do when they’re not cutting off heads or flipping out?
A: Most of their free time is spent flying, but sometime they stab. (Ask Mark if you don’t believe me.)

I have two pit bulls. I had a lab in the past and a doberman. They are the most docile and loyal dogs I have ever owned. People that fight pits should be forced to fight someone they don’t want to…like, Brock Lesnar would probably be a good fit. My boy actually is a therapy dog at an old folks home in Orlando. Pretty cool to see the elderly accepting of him even though all they see is the negative media the breed gets. I do give Tito props for taking a stance on this. Now, my boy pit has a huge head but I think Tito has his tripled lol.

That’s awesome that Tito is using his celebrity status to support a cause like this. I wish more male athletes would do the same thing.
And to all you out there with the pits- I totally agree that they are misunderstood. It’s not the breed that is the problem, it’s the humans who f-ck them up. People are so ignorant when it comes to that topic. It makes me so happy to hear about people rescuing animals. I’m an animal lover and my heart goes out to those pups.
My boyfriend and I got a rescue dog, his “time was up” at some pound out of state, and a local rescue group saved him and fostered him for a while. He’s got some aggression issues, and it’s a lot of work to retrain him. But to watch his progress is sooo rewarding! He’s incredibly loyal and loving. He’s a german shepherd/husky mix, with who knows what else. He’s my mutt and I love him.
Kudos to Tito and the rest of you animal lovers!

by bullshido on Sep 23, 2008 1:07 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Pitbulls by nature are docile toward humans. The reason being is actually due to dog fighters. The handlers had to be in the ring and get the dog off when the fight was done. If the dog ever bit the handler, it was killed. So yes they do have a high prey drive toward other animals, but should be good to humans.
And even though dogs can’t speak, they do not “suddenly” turn-on you. There are warning signs, and it is up to the owner to be aware.
And kids should never be left alone with any animal. Scratch that, they shouldn’t be left alone, period. I remember somebody leaving their six month old nephew on the bed with his Pomeranian to do something. When he came back the Pomeranian had killed the baby. Stupid people find it cute when small dogs bite and don’t correct the behavior.

Tito is wicked man. All you Tito haters make me sick! He made the UFC when he first started and also left very popular. So what if he has losses, who doesn’t. He’s right about leaving the UFC. These guys bust their ass training for a 5 minute fight that can go so wrong where someone can get seriously injured. And all you get is 100 k or so. These boxing fights, the fighters get paid in millions and it not nearly as entertaining than the UFC.
You all should have respect for all fighters. In my opinion, anyone in the UFC is tough!

Tito and Mike Vick should fight each and the event can be called "The animal lover vs. “The coward dog killer” they can fight in the main event for the title, the footbal player vs. the mixed martial artist. I really don’ t uderstand why there are people out there who do these things and torture animals. In my opinion they are the real animals, fuckin coward pieces of shit they hurt hopeless animals, but there is always karma so they will get theirs. I even heard DMX organized dog fights but I am not sure if its true because he is a dog lover and barks like a dog in every song.
