Chuck Liddell seminar/autograph session Xtreme Couture Toronto

Xtreme Couture Toronto and MMACanada.net have teamed up to present a all-day training session and autograph session with former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck "Iceman" Liddell in Toronto, Canada, on October 19, coinciding with UFC 89: "Bisping vs. Leben" event the day prior.
Chuck is coming off arguably the toughest loss of his career at the hands of Rashad Evans via brutal knockout back at UFC 88: "Breakthrough."
Nonetheless, "Iceman" will put it all behind him and put on a seminar at Xtreme Couture on Sunday, October 19 and follow it up with what is expected to be a very busy one-hour meet and greet/autograph signing.
Sponsors of the event include TapouT, Staredown Fight Wear, Redemption Fight Wear, Xyience and The Substance Group.
We will of course pass along a behind the scenes look into Chuck’s first visit to the Toronto area since 2004. But for those who want to experience it firsthand and/or purchase tickets please click here.
Sean McManus is the Director of Media Relations for MMACanada.net. For more information on the MMA scene up in Canada check out MMACanada.net.

I really hope Chuck decides to mix it up a little for his next training camp. If the Rashad lose was only a case of Chuck taking him lightly, then he can still be a contender. I doubt that was the case, wouldn’t he have learned his lesson after the Jardine fight. He needs to get out of his comfort zone for his next camp. He doesn’t have to get rid of Hackelman, just mix it up. Travel to another camp for 4 weeks and immerse himself in new techniques, training partners, ect…
by BNF on Sep 19, 2008 12:05 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
How do you know Chuck wasn’t planning on mixing it up? I am a huge Chuck fan, but Rashad might have just caught him is all. They analyzed the way that Chuck strikes and Rashad stood toe to toe with him with that analysis in his head. I do agree that Chuck needs to mix it up but I still think that it is possible that he did plan to. Like that head kick he went for at the end of the first round. I think that was part of the plan to get Rashad thinking about other parts of stand up. I also think he didn’t want to use head kicks early in the rounds for fear of Rashad getting the takedown.
by RyanHobbs on Sep 19, 2008 12:16 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I don’t consider 1 head kick, mixing it up. I don’t understand why he would be so worried about Rashad taking him down, no one is better at getting back to their feet than Chuck. And I was talking more along the lines of his training camp, which would translate into an improved fighter in the ring. He is at a turning point in his life and in his career, sometimes change is the best thing you can do.
by BNF on Sep 19, 2008 12:41 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I wasn’t saying that the one head kick was his was of mixing it up. My statements regarding the head kick was just an example of what he could have been using to keep Rashad thinking on his feet. If Rashad is thinking about more than Liddells hands, then Liddell would have a better chance of mixing things up. Like even with going for a takedown or something. I think that change is the best thing for him as well. I am just saying that we have no reason to believe that he hasn’t taken steps towards change. His training camp could be bringing people in to train with him. He doesn’t necessarilly have to go to other camps to get help from outside influences. I honestly just think that Rashad took the right steps to win this fight. It wasn’t luck.

I was wondering the same thing!!! I may not be a big fan of Randy’s, but he sure can come up with solid gameplans, which is what Chuck really needs right now. I wonder if Randy would be able to get past getting KTFO by Chuck twice though.

I had a really weird but cool dream last night. In my dReam I was chilling with the Iceman. I dont know why but we were rolling together! Weird huh? You would think that I would dream of sparring with Liddell but instead we were grappling.

Xtreme Couture Toronto is only hosting Chuck for the day – as for his future training plans we’ll get you the answer while he’s up here.
by Seamus on Sep 19, 2008 12:30 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
first of all he needs to keep his hands up and use more head movement.. you’re supposed to defend yourself after throwing a punch, I don’t know if they know that? after that, they can think about his strategy..

ya that was too bad.. cause it was just a matter of time before he catched liddell with a power punch! Im not blind are you? u don’t have to be a genius to know things like that..

This is grrrreat news for chuck, he needs to forget about the loss to evans to right away, every fighter goes through a bad spell, this is his, i wish all the haters would show some bloody respect!!
He will be back and he will be a force there is little doubt about that in my mind, im sure there are loads of fighters who would rather try and avoid a liddell coming off a loss like that and a point to prove… i know i would!!
I just hope in his next fight he doesnt listen to the crowd as i feel thats was his downfall in this fight, if he doesnt react to the crowd booing and push the pace he doesnt get knocked out! i just hope hes greedy and if need be boring in order to get the win, everybody else is, rashad sure is…..running for 6mins!!
by mo on Sep 19, 2008 12:28 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Yeah. If Chuck would have stuck to counter striking, he could have won that fight. Rashad was definitely baiting him to be the agressor.
by RyanHobbs on Sep 19, 2008 1:13 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Damn, it never ceases to amaze me how fast people are to count someone out. Chuck is THE most well known MMA fighter of all time. He dominates for a few years and then has a string of bad fights, so a ton of people, then decide, that he sucks and all that shit. Same thing happened with Hughes, and I expect the same thing to happen to Silva. Someday when he actually loses a fight anyways, ;) lol
Seriously tho, people get caught. Everyone does at some point. Deal with it. People just show love for someone when they are on top, not through their career as a pro. You should love a fighter for being a fighter and wanting to put on a good show.
If I could make it to Toronto, I would be at this event for sure. Chuck has always been my favorite fighter, even before he was a big name.
I would go to this event if it wasnt Chuck tho too. haha
If Chuck really wants the title back.. He will get it. Just a matter of time.

true true..i believe liddell, even with the recent loss, still has that one last big run in his career..though he might not get his title back,im sure that he will still win big fights with great fighters before he retires..

Liddell was spoon fed fighters when he was Champ… Tito, Horn, White and Randy. Where was Shogun during this time???? Dont say pride because they could have given him the money. They finally brought jackson in and expected him to lose but we all watched that. Dont get me wrong Chuck is top 5/10 but he was never really the best.
by yoda on Sep 19, 2008 1:37 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
hell no.. Chuck’s style is old now it only worked on all those wrestlers he fought with no punching power at all.. and no he does not have any chance at all in the world to win the title back! .. even the Jackson fight was stupid, they saw how Jackson looked against Eastman and took the chance to match him up with Liddell, just so Liddell could get that victory.. Chuck is the most known MMA fighter in America only because he has always been Dana’s best friend and he chose to promote Chuck so that would happen…
by RoB on Sep 19, 2008 1:51 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
That makes no sense at all. Spoon fed? Whatever. I bet you have a laundry list of fighters that have had all their opponents spoon fed. Seriously.
Dana’s best friend? Wow. You are really grasping for straws. Almost the entire time that Chuck was champ… Tito was Dana’s guy. They even trained boxing together. Then they split and had a rising conflict. Do you remember that? Do you remember that there was even talk about Dana and Tito having a boxing match? Then what happened? Oh yeah thats right, Randy was next to Dana until they had their falling out. Im pretty sure that was going on while Chuck was champ, then it escalated after Chuck lost to Page
Where were you? Not watching MMA? Get your facts straight dude.
by enzo-enormous on Sep 19, 2008 2:18 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
no kidding….its not like Chuck was “afraid” of pride fighters…Chuck is the ONLY UFC fighter Dana let go over and compete in Pride so he could attempt to face Wanderlei SIlva…Chuck KO’d hard hitters Guy Mezger and Alistar Overeem before losing to Rampage in sick battle…Chuck was going after them!!! You never saw Wanderlei or Rampage coming over to UFC did you? The fact is Chuck has KO’d legitamte people and former UFC title holders in not jsut the LHW division but the HW division as well! You CANNOT deny he has had some good fights against Very GOOD competition. Even in the end, he still beat Wanderlei so what more does he need to do? Beat Rampage? thats THE ONLY one guy who really schooled him twice.
by Chadx23 on Sep 19, 2008 2:42 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Enzo.. Dana managed both Tito and Chuck back in the day i know.. and when Tito was the champ he didn’t want to fight Chuck because they were friends, Tito wanted to wait until they got the right money to fight eachother, and that is when Chuck and Dana sold Tito out, started to call him a coward n other stuff.. and the boxing match Tito vs Dana was just because they hated eachother so much, not anything else.. Dana’s even said it himself that he considers Chuck family to him.. It’s normal and part of the business to promote a fighter like Liddell and pick his opponents carefully so that he will be successful, Dana should do that with more fighters in the UFC..
by RoB on Sep 19, 2008 10:02 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
hahaha. Shogun WAS in Pride and as far as the money goes…….the UFC purchased Pride. Chuck already beat Wanderlie Silva…..the guy that reigned supreme in Pride while Chuck was supreme in the UFC.
by RyanHobbs on Sep 19, 2008 1:54 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
i agree with you ryan, i dont get why people hate on him too much. and that arguement is weak. Wandy was the best in pride at that time, Chuck was the best in the UFC. Chuck beat wandy. the end.
and to say that shogun is better? pls? look at chucks resume and look at shoguns. haha. Chuck vs wandy arguement yes its tough to call and its a good legit issue, but shogun? he’s good, but cmon man.

seriously yoda dont respond to a post and try to sound informed when your not. Chuck never defended his title against Vernon White. He beat Jeremy Horn to avenge a loss. He knocked out Tito who has the champ for a long time. He also knocked out Randy to gain the title and knocked Randy out again while defending the title and is the only fighter ever to knock out Randy Couture. Who is a 5 time UFC Champion so take your ignorant bullshit somewhere else.

yeah ok yoda you know your stuff NOT!! Why did chuck go to japan then if its so easy to bting rampage/shogun etc over here??
He was the best just as wandi was the best and who won there fight? Open your eyes and stop hating!!!
by mo on Sep 19, 2008 1:48 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Liddell was not spoon fed. Name one top figher in the UFC at LHW that he didn’t fight? Same goes with Wandy. Know it all punks like to say he fought a bunch of cans. Wand did fight a few cans but it was not his fault. Wand faught all the best fighers Pride had to offer at the time.
If Chuck get’s Shogun for his next fight I think it will motivate him the same way he was motivated to fight Wandy. Chuck will show respect to Shogun and not make the dumb mistakes he made in his fight with Rashad.

by RoB on Sep 19, 2008 2:10 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Really? Never been the best? What is the title for then? To let people and yourself know that you won the title, but still arent the best? You are ridiculous sometimes. If you have the title… you are the best until you lose the title. That is just how it is. Every sport is the same. You are the champ, the best, until you lose it.
Im seriously scratching my head, wondering if you even think about things before you post.
by enzo-enormous on Sep 19, 2008 2:23 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
never been the best? duh? so tell me who was the best lhw during 01-06 then? it’s either liddell or wandy..now you can make an argument that they have lost a couple of fights lately but everybody (even the best)looses..& liddell with his age is clearly out of his prime, but yet he still competes in a high level just because he loves to fight..(of course 500k is a factor too, lol)
anyway my point is liddell at this time has the best resume of any lhw fighter,so just by that fact he should be considered at one time THE best..
by faith7th on Sep 19, 2008 5:28 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I like your style faith7th. :) He obviously wrote that without any idea what he was talking about.
by enzo-enormous on Sep 19, 2008 6:04 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
ok, so Chuck came over to Pride looses to Rampage comes back and fights in the UFC becomes the champ when he defeats Couture then Horn, Babalu, Ortiz, now what makes you think he would’ve won over Rampage at the time he held the title in the UFC? sure he was the best in the UFC and one of the best lhw’s in the world, nowadays he’s not at the top anymore.. now do you seriously think Wanderlei would ever beat a guy like Tito Ortiz in his career i don’t.. it’s also hard to compare UFC and Pride because a ring is better for strikers and the octagon is better for wreslers, they were also doing steroids in Pride and very poor matchmaking to protect their stars like Wanderlei from guys like Arona..
by RoB on Sep 19, 2008 10:30 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
and you dont even have a proper arguement. so who is the best LHW for you? the guys chuck beat? or the guys wandy beat? either way, It just shows that someone is better than your guy.
Chuck and wandy were the two most dominant Lightheavies ever so pls grow some intelligence first before arguing that neither are to be considered the best.
by weoweoweo on Sep 20, 2008 5:48 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I have more intelligence than you know.. The answer to your question is that i don’t know who was the best and you don’t know who was the best.. Personally i do not think Chuck was the best fighter in the world at any time, his takedown defense has always been one of the best in the business and that’s why he dominated the UFC’s LHW division against wrestlers and ground fighters with poor striking for so long and when he fought a good striker (Rampage) he lost.. it all comes down to matchmaking, know that.. so as i said Chuck is being called the most dominant fighter in UFC today because they only had him fighting guys that were perfect for his style, same goes for Wanderlei at the time he fought in Pride..
