UFC Quick Quote: Ed Herman to 'put a beatdown' on Alan Belcher at Ultimate Fight Night

"I think it's a great match up for me. I know he's going to come in good shape, ready to fight. I think my style matches up well against him. He's going to come forward and try to engage, but if you've ever seen me fight, I like to attack and come forward pretty much non stop. He's not real good backing up or when the pressure's put on him. I think I'll overwhelm him coming forward. He won't be able to stop my takedowns or handle my ground and pound. So I look forward to putting a good beatdown on him."
-- Ed Herman -- middleweight finalist on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 3 -- talks about his upcoming fight with the Seattle Post-Intelligencer about his upcoming fight with Alan Belcher at UFC Fight Night 15 from the Omaha Civic Auditorium in Omaha, Neb., on September 17. Both fighters will look to rebound from losses and not slide any further down the 185-pound ladder. The fight is guaranteed to air on the Spike TV telecast, which begins at 8 p.m. ET.

I got Herman by submission..hopefully its another D’arce choke!

What D’arce choke are you referring to? I don’t recall any chokes besides RNC and a stray triangle coming from him, though I could be wrong.
by Immak on Sep 11, 2008 2:43 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
He was not referring to Ed Herman, but to Alan Belcher, who got submitted by Kendall Grove with a D’arce choke.
The TUF3 guys however seem to be one of the weaker products out of Dana’s reality tv show. Both Kendall Grove and Ed Herman are quite underwhelming, compared what some might have been expecting after the TUF 3 finale.

Yeah like Tapped said…i think that was the best Kendall we ever saw.. didnt see a whole lot out of the evan tanner fight..but maybe it was because tanner is such a tough dude. hopefully Kendall can revamp his career as well as ed Herman…they have had very disproportionate sucess compared to their failures

i still wanna see that herman/grove rematch. i have a feeling this fight could be a dud. i do like herman to win this fight though.

I don’t think Herman will ever want to fight Grove again after that titty-twister he received (I believe in the second round). I still can’t believe the ref didn’t see that, but I guess props to Grove, cuz like his good friend Tito says, “If you ain’t cheatin’, you ain’t tryin’.”

he.he. i remember that as well. it would be like someone pulling at chest hairs. ouch!

I think this is a very weird Conpiracy about the titty-twisting…you know..kendall did it on herman. Tito probably told him to do it…if you aint cheatin you aint trying! lol…funny think is he fought rashad..who twisted his int he lideel fight and evans traisn with GSP who did the same thing in the fight with Fitch!

this is a pretty even match up im not sure who is going to win but if i was going to put money on the fight i would go with belcher by unamious decision.

This fight has been scheduled forever. I think it was the FIRST one on the card.

I personally don’t care about this fight. I talked about it on the last thread, but here goes. How is Gouveia not televised?? He was just involved in the “Fight of the Night” on the best PPV card of the year and because he is no longer fighting Horn he goes to the undercard? WTF! He will be a contender at his new weight class of 185 within the next year or so. At least 1, if not both of these guys will be out of the UFC by this time next year.
by BNF on Sep 11, 2008 2:03 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Yea thats true BNF! I hadnt even noticed Gouveia is not on the main card! Hopefully theres enough time to get his fight shown?
by JV on Sep 11, 2008 2:30 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
i agree. herman/belcher has the makings of a real stinker and gouveia, win or lose, always puts on a good fight.
by b.w. on Sep 11, 2008 2:37 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
wilson’s down to 185 so expect a different fighter…possibly for the worse seeing as how he’s cutting more…but I could be wrong
by McArthur on Sep 11, 2008 2:43 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
herman/Belcher is a gimmie fight for Herman. He is a ground n pound machine fighting a guy with NO ground game and No takedown defense. I wonder whats going to happen!
Thanks for nothing Joe Silva!
Why dont I remember the tity twister?
by john on Sep 11, 2008 2:46 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Here is a cut and paste from Gouveia. I think he will be better at 185.
"I’m on a diet right now," Gouveia explains. "When I was at light-heavyweight I used to just stay around 225 lbs and then cut the 25 lbs to make weight. Now I’m looking to stay at around 205 lbs. I’ve been fighting my whole career at 205 even though a lot of people were saying I should be fighting at 185. When I compare myself to big light-heavyweights like Forrest (Griffin) and Chuck (Liddell), I look more like a middleweight. Those guys are huge. I never had to cut properly to make light-heavyweight and always decided to stay there because I love to eat so much. Now I’m doing the diet and am a lot healthier. I’m feeling better than ever."
by BNF on Sep 11, 2008 2:50 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Sounds focused! He might do real good at MW? One good thing is that MW’s are needed right now.
by JV on Sep 11, 2008 3:38 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Me too. I think the new guy he is fighting got submitted my Alamedia and Maia, which there is no shame in, but on paper this should be an easy win for Gouveia. I just think the UFC should be hyping up contenders at 185 and now that he is dropping down from 205 he will be. I used to like both Herman and Belcher, but they both have looked bad lately and I don’t think either of them will make any noise in this division.
by BNF on Sep 11, 2008 2:44 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
True! And just shows how many fans Houston has. Coming off of two beatings and still gets televised???
Hey john dont be an a*s!!!!! whats the news?
by JV on Sep 11, 2008 2:54 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
UFC 89: Bas Rutten vs. Machida
Happy? lol
on a serious note, I just read an interview with Machida’s manager saying that Machida wont be fighting tilll december or January cause they dont have an opponent.
What the F is the problem? There are 4 tp LHW’s that arent matched up to fight:
Wanderlei
Shogun
Machida
Rampage
pair them up however you like and lets see some good fights. WTF is joe Silva doing?
by john on Sep 11, 2008 3:03 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
BNF: u will get NO complaints out of me. I am a big fan of Wilson’s and I aso think he will be a force at middleweight!
Wilson vs. Herman
Wilson vs. Sakara
would have been great fights for the main card
by john on Sep 11, 2008 3:04 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
You still didnt answer my question john?? Whats the news?
by JV on Sep 11, 2008 3:06 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Bas’s knees wouldnt let him get to the Cage! Just post it and if mania takes it off to bad, atleast we already know what it was!
by JV on Sep 11, 2008 3:34 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
just leave it alone JV, I been bitched at for 2 long by numerous posters on this site for HiJacking and mania bitched yesterday, so just leave it alone. I now just want to blend in on this site and not hear anyone bitching at me.
by john on Sep 11, 2008 3:38 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
LMAO!!! You and Kevin will still probably be bitched at. You never backed down before, why now? Or atleast give me a hint as to where I can go to find out?
by JV on Sep 11, 2008 3:55 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
John don’t get all emotional now. I believe most of the intelligent posters here appriciate the information you give as well as breaking news, at least I do. I could care less if you take one of my posts and change the subject. My ego is not that big.
by BNF on Sep 11, 2008 4:04 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
BTW, John you just hijacked my post to talk about Machida and then said you werent going to hijack! LMAO! If you don’t tell us the news now I will have to believe you are just doing this to torture us (mania included).
by BNF on Sep 11, 2008 4:11 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
YEA JOHN!!! YOU HIJACKER! but you never backed down before, why now? WHATS THE NEWS?
by JV on Sep 11, 2008 4:17 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
mania, never bitched at me before, so I will respect his wishes. My bad BNF, I am really trying not to hijack threads and just keep the topic flowing. Besides the big news, there is tons of other news, like 3 new dream fights being booked for this months event (but you can find that news for yourself on the web). Just let me be, I am sorry I even mentioned it!
I am not trying to torture you guys, I just want to blend in more. Sick of being attacked, sick of being hated on, sick of the under appreciation. Sick of personal battles with other bloggers. I also am really curious as to how advanced my source is, and I am kind of doing a little experiment to see how long it takes for this news to spread to the internet, that way I will know how valuablle my source really is.

my post dont get posted, thats why I dont try to post anything. Its not that they get moderated. they just dont get posted!
by john on Sep 11, 2008 6:29 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
yeah i’ve had posts not show up a bit as well. its rather frustrating. especially when i’m defending myself against someone and my retort doesn’t show up, then said person accuses me of using 2 accounts.

i have to say ed herman is my least favorite fighter I think.
by ryan on Sep 11, 2008 2:43 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I think Belcher is going to smash him.
Herman is overrated, he reminds me of Alex Karalexis or Josh Haynes.
by DirtyML on Sep 11, 2008 2:44 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
How is Herman overrated? He has lost to Maia and McDonald. Both very good fighters. McDonald was probably 1 win away from a title shot and he lost to the best MW not named Anderson Silva, and Maia is going to be a force and viable threat to AS after he gets a little more experienced.
And his loss to Kendall too, forgot thats official.
by WB on Sep 11, 2008 4:57 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Is Herman still training at Randy’s gym…if he is he’ll win…if not he will lose and get cut from UFC
by McArthur on Sep 11, 2008 2:46 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I hope Herman wins this fight it would be a great one for him.

Hey nate i hate to be the one to tell u this… David Antrim commited suicide two days ago. sorry man.

Shortfuse has predicted him doing a beatdown prior to each of his losses……..I am way sick of his “I’s poor white trailer-trash up-bringin’, but I can sure give out some badlooks and attitude” , his losses haven’t taught him a shred of humility… Silva’s the reigning UFC god and shows way more class…. I hope Herman’s name is changed from “shortfuse” to “Short-career”
by Marco9690 on Sep 11, 2008 3:28 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Quit bagging on Herman hes a great fight with great wrestling. and crafty jitz. and his hands have improved lately.

i would like to see herman loose i cant stand him or danzic they both are decent fighters but cocky as all shit dont like their attitude, loose both of you go clay.
by RR #1 on Sep 11, 2008 8:49 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Both are cocky ill give you that, but it looks like Ed has been working on it. When he was on the show yeah he was an arrogang sob but he a matured alot.
by belfort_fan on Sep 11, 2008 10:01 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I like ShortFuse, but this is a dangerous fight for him.I sure hope that he doesn’t get subbed while trying to GnP the Talent.that’s what happened the first time he fought Joe Deisel Doerkson.and I’ve sen him put himself in dangerous positions in some of his wins as well.anyway I hhhoope that he can get a GnP stopage.
by the Levi on Sep 11, 2008 10:23 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
True is it a dangerous fight for him but he always does goos against strikers..
