TUF Love: Keep your friends close ... and your enemies closer (Video)

No, this isn't a punchline!

Join three of the most unlikely castmates from the original season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) as they find themselves face-to-face in a cramped rental car almost four years after all the drama on "reunion weekend."

While the addition of Bobby Southworth would have been pure gold, I'm more interested in how they determined who rode shotgun.

Enjoy!

BIG thanks to the good folks over at MARClothing.com for the exclusive video score. Head over to their Web site right now and buy something. Click HERE.

wow i wish that car would have wrecked… cant stand any of those guys, diego sanchez sounds like hed rather be talking about colors and animals in his interviews and not having to THINK at all… chris leben with his painted fingernails, josh with his blonde afro… wheres a big pothole when u need one? see if they can change a tire lol

Diego is a weirdo. I saw him a couple months ago here in ABQ and he is, in fact, a strange guy, but I hate Kos so much that I need to see Diego kick his ass. Leben’s not so bad. I’d like to see him get a re-match against Silva just to see how far he can get now that he knows who this guy is. But, I’m doubting he can get past Bisping even though I will be pulling for him.

by Punch You in the Ovaries on Sep 10, 2008 11:37 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Kos would beat Diego in their Nest fight. Diego would never kick his ass.

by Chase on Sep 10, 2008 11:40 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I disagree Chase. I think that’s too definitive a statement to realistically make, as if that’s the only way a rematch could go. It’s not like Diego hasn’t already kicked Kos’ ass and put him in the hospital. Conversely, Koscheck couldn’t put Diego away when he was sick!

by Jase on Sep 10, 2008 11:51 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I can see someone believing Kos would win agian, but I can’t see saying that Diego would never kick his ass. I’m assuming your not counting the TUF fight where Diego won since Kos is a different fighter today. I’m curious why you’d say that.

by Punch You in the Ovaries on Sep 10, 2008 11:54 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Becuase the Tuf fight was when Koscheck was ONLY A WRESTLER……… Lets me chnage my words…. Sanchez WIll Never BEAT HIM AGIAN………. He was Only a wrestler, and sanches already had a good MMA record, and was UNDEFEATED AT THE TIME. And I’m sick of this He was “sick” excuse to why he lost the 2nd fight, if he felt like he was sick, he shouldn’t have fought. Quit saying thats why Forrest Beat Shogun also…. it’s getting old. Give them The Props that they Deserve.

There you go again Chase.Cheering for your number 1 fighter again. I respect Koscheck’s game, but I most certainly would not be rooting for him on his next fight, hehehe!!!

I hope Not, I like being the only one hah, Like how everyone thought Lytle’s goofy self would Knock him out, but he god Man handled and Cutt up, he did land some good shots though. and TheNegation, I’ll always support my boy hah, anyway, who’s your favorite fighter?
Ohh and….. WAR KOSCHECK!!!!!!!!!

CHASE. diego was diagnosed with hep-c and thought he was gonna have to retire 1 DAY before the fight. dana white even stated that he thought that they were gonnaa have to announce diego’s retirment. the day after the fight, diego found a huge hole in his leg and found out he had staph. he WAS sick, no thinking about it. doesnt mean that diego will win a 3rd fight between the 2, but that was not the real diego that night.

by b.w. on Sep 11, 2008 12:45 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

B.W., WELL DIEGO STILL TOOK THE FIGHT, WHEN FE FELT BAD, SO IT CAN’T BE USED AS AN EXCUSE, IT’S HIS FAULT HE DECIDED TO FIGHT FEELING BAD, NOT KOSCHECKS, THEN HE GOES AND LOSSES TO FITCH, IM GUESSING IT WASN’T THE REAL DIEGO IN THAT FIGHT EITHER THEN.

by Chase on Sep 11, 2008 12:54 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

CHASE. you dont have to yell and im not blind, so turn the caps off. fitch beat diego fair and square, why bring his name into it? i dont hate koscheck, but i doubt he could beat fitch either let alone gsp. what? you think kos is gonna outwrestle gsp, beat him in the stand up? fitch is aka’s best fighter and he got handled by georges. the only guy that has a chance against gsp is penn.

by b.w. on Sep 11, 2008 1:03 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

B.W. I forgot to turn off caps and was to lazy to go back and turn it off, Koscheck fought GSP, and didn’t get beat as bad as fitch did. And Koscheck is a better wrestler then fitch. And in the fight with GSP, Koscheck didn;t attept to use much of his wrestling, he wanted to keep it standing, I think in their 2nd fight, he knows whats to expect, and might be able to use more of his wrestling, And I do think Kos would beat Fitch. Im just saying Koscheck is a great fighter, and GSP couldn’t even finish fitch, after he Manhandled and rocked him so many time, witch is also a compliment to fitch, BUT GSP should still have finished it, I think is Koscheck Keeps improving like he has, then he as a good chance of Beating Fitch. Anything can happen, Serra is a horrible fighter who wouldn;t beat most people in the WW division, But he got lucky. GSP’s not invinsible. i think if anyone has a chance, as of right now, it’s Koscheck, But some up and commers might tear though the ranking, and that could change.

by Chase on Sep 11, 2008 1:12 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

CHASE. well, at least you came up with a pretty good strategy for koscheck and some ways for koscheck to beat gsp. i still dont think it will happpen, but we’ll see. peace!

by b.w. on Sep 11, 2008 1:23 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

B.W., alright hah, I just don’t think he used his strength at all, he just tried to keep it standing like he did with Sanchez, and GSP was more of the wrestler in that fight, I hope I get to see a rematch, and thats if GSP can get past Penn hah, but yeah Peace.

by Chase on Sep 11, 2008 1:29 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Chase: i cant wait till they book Diego vs. Kos 3 to shut you up! I dont like either fighter but I am going to keep it real. When they fight again, kos will get THRASHED!

Right now, Diego’s stand up is so much supperior then Koschek’s and we all know that Kos is Frieghtened of going to the ground with Diego….so how and were would Kos win this fight?

The answer is that he wouldn’t and he wont!

by john on Sep 11, 2008 7:49 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Chase: I cant wait to see the day, where you dont Ramble away about Koschek. Just 1 day! I ramble away about Fedor but thats OK because he is a GOD and I bow down to him for religious purposes. Kos is just a tool who hides behind the AKA banner to avoid Fitch! Yeah there I said it!

Diego fought sick because that is his job. Much like I have to be responsible and go to work unless I am dying. He should be cheered for going into that fight with a massive staph infection rather then jeered. He showed because that is how he pays the bills, and he still had a decent fight overall. I had staph once and it is horrible how it breaks you down physically. I could not imagine have to perform on that level, while having a stpah infection against a solid fighter like Kos, and still going the distance. If anything you should be questioning Kos, since he is the more then just a wrestler Koscheck and his inabilty to finish a severely staph infected Diego Sanchez. If you have only 3 or 4 opportunites a year to make your money to live, you do not pass on the opportunity. Diego is well paid but nowhere near the top of the scale, so yes of course he is going to fight sick or not. At this level these guys are doing this for a living, pro fighters, they do not have pt jobs to supplement their income unless their teaching.

by Da Monkey on Sep 11, 2008 9:22 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Da Monkey: I totally agree! It was pathetic the way Koschek fought that fight. Much props to Diego for still stepping in the octagon. Especially when you have guys like Karo who pul out of a fight the day before an event.
Staph infections are NO JOKE, and whie I am not really a fan of Diego’s, I applaud him for stepping into the Octagon on his death bed! That is a very gutsy thing to do.

Shame on Koschek, for fighting the way he did against Diego. He was scared t death of Diego. Kos refused to engage, refused to try and take Diego down. Just a Bi*ch ass performance out of Koschek!

by john on Sep 11, 2008 9:39 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I’m all for giving a fighter props, Chase. In the case of Forrest/Shogun, I thought Rua was gonna kill him, but regardless of Mauricio’s physical condition coming into the fight(and I remember hearing somewhere Forrest walked into that fight banged up too), Griffin did what he had to do and subbed him out.

If Kos had put up a better fight against Diego, I’d gladly give him props for beating him, but that was a pretty sub-par effort he put in, just doing enough to squeak out a decision. That’s why I don’t think Kos could handle a healthier Diego, and wouldn’t feel very confident in Kos’ chances in a rematch.

by Jase on Sep 11, 2008 10:40 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Okay, my inside scoop: My friends here in Albuquerque who know Diego said he was getting out hand. They were drunk and Diego tried to jump a barbed wire fence and got mangled. That was only week or so before the fight. I don’t know how that played into things, but I thought it was funny b/c it seemed out of character.

On the “excuse” front, I’m actually getting tired of the zero tolerance policy on excuses. Someone would be stupid not to consider contributing factors when placing a bet so I don’t understand why it’s so taboo to mention influential facts after a fight. People really get sick and injured. It’s a fact of life. Our culture doesn’t like consistent whining. I get it, but we’ve gone too far. Hell, even when it’s someone I dislike, I want my guy to beat them when they are close to 100%. In a Diego vs Kos rematch, I hope to see Kos a 100% then get killed. However, if Kos has some serious problem inhibiting his performance, I will acknowlege it even from his retarded afro-puffed mug.

by Punch You in the Ovaries on Sep 11, 2008 10:56 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Great post Punch u in the Ovaries. We have to take injuries into consideration. its not excuses its just a fact of life like you said. Anyone with a clue, knew that that wasnt the true Shogun we got to see against Forrest, so I still dont think forrest can handle the real shogun rua. Forrest beat the man standing in front of him that night, so props to him but I dont feel that he can beat The shogun that i have become accostumed to watching these past years.

Injuries must me taken into consideration. These guys have no other income, therefore some fighters cant afford to pu out of fights. injuris arent excuses but need to be taken into consideration

by john on Sep 11, 2008 11:04 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Why does everyone act like Kos was afraid for not wanting to wrestle around with a staph-ridden Diego? Nobody in their right mind would want to engage with someone who “might” have a serious staph infection or Hep-C! I think it was incredibly negligent of the UFC to even put Diego in the octagon if he was really that sick.

by cmon on Sep 11, 2008 11:08 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

what r u talking about? Kos wanted no pRTSA OF THE GROUND GAME cause of Diego’s superior jits game. His game plan was to take Diego down at the very end of the round. THat tells me that Kos was:

A) Not worried about your BS theory of going to the ground with a diseased Diego

B) Not fighting to end the fight, he was content on a boring decision. When a fighter doesnt even try to utilize his best asset (wrestling) how can he or anyone else tell me that he was fighting to finish diego? He clearly wasnt and was content on trying to squeek out a decision win!

Dammit! who got chase started on Koscheck!…anyways i personallyt hink the fight can go either way easily…Koscheck has gotten so much better now…but Diego has as well. both their stand up game has been elevated…some of you look down on luigi…but hes a huge 170! good hands and power and a good chin..and diego out huslted him in the stand up…Koshceck as well, fought a game hazlett..it look like hazlett was baout to get the TKO in the first few second of round 1 but KOs turn it arousn with his own TKO. i like all the 3 fighters they are all always fun to watch..they have matured a whole lot since TUF. if anything both of those guy cant KO each other their attirubute in stand up are way too close and both their ground skill would cancel each other out..KOS wrestling vs diego Jits and scrambles. it would be another decision fight..but a good one..Leben i would like to see him fight silva again…the only other MW in my mind who has enough wins and skill set to be any sort of problem to the spyder! leben got out classed but it also could be attributed to his wild style and he didnt know anythign about Silva!…who did you know? we all have heard his name but we never really payed any real attention till he left Cage Rage and KO’d leben.

They’re all great fighters, if the car crashed, the WW Division would be weakend so much by lossing 2 of the best fighters in it.

Anyway, a fight I want to see is Koscheck Vs. War Machine, I think it would be Interesting and an exciting fight.

by Chase on Sep 10, 2008 11:38 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Well here’s an excpetion chase. If Kos fights War Machine, I’d be rooting for Koscheck because I just hate War Machine more. Can’t stand that guys guts!! I don’t like the attitude he was showing when he started out in TUF. Naming himself War MAchine doesn’t make him cooler, if that’s what he thinks!

by TheNegation on Sep 11, 2008 12:14 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I love both of them hah, IDk why, I just like thier attitudes. War Machine is the man hah, He’s so all about himself, and How he’s an AlfaMale, I just find it funny, He’s a nutt, But It’s entertaining. I’d be rooting for Koscheck though of course,I just think it would be a great fight. He should have only changed His Middle Name to WarMachine, but he has Primate brain came into play.

by Chase on Sep 11, 2008 12:23 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Koscheck is the only fighter I truly dislike, he was an asshole on TUF and he is an even bigger one now. He got a hollow descision victory over a 50% Diego which he seems to be content with. If he had any balls, he would have asked for a third fight to really settle it, but he knows that Diego would beat the blonde out of him no doubt when fighting at a 100%. You definately have a hard on (my apologies if you are not a dude) for Kos,but he is an arrogant wanker, and I cannot wait for Diego to give him a serious beatdown.

I’d rather see Kos fight a more competitive matchup than against War Machine. Could be exciting, though.

by Jase on Sep 11, 2008 10:31 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Given Kos’ track record, it’s hard to predict him winning a fight via stoppage, but War Machine would not survive a round with Kos. He’s terrible. And there is a world of difference between calling yourself an alpha male and actually being one.

who said anything about a war machine vs. Koschek match up? I hate Kos and I am a fan of War Machine, but that doesnt cloud my judgement into thinking that War Machine is ready for a match up against Kos

I liked this,Mkaes me like them all more, Even though i already Love Koscheck hah, If Sanchez gets past Alvez, and Kos beats his next opponent, their 3rd fight would be awesome and would be perfect for the next to fight GSP after Penn. Chase, GSP is like 27 yrs old and KOS and Fitch are 30, not that it makes them old, it’s just GSP is so far ahead of the game with his skills and fighting maturity. I see GSP dominating for the next 5 yrs, and yeah, he could get KO’d again, but I think he will bounce back to reclaim his title at least one other time in the next 5 yrs if he does lose.

My thoughts exactly john. And as far as comparing the GSP that fought Kos to the GSP that fought Fitch, I think GSP looked EXTREMELY not only improved but more comfortable when he fought Fitch.

And I think Fitch would beat up on Kos.

Diego has a shot at St Pierre or Penn. Koscheck will be a number 1 contender at times but dont see him holding one. Leben is kind of a wild card in the MW division, not sure if he would or not.

I never really wanted to say anything about Thiago and steriods. And it suprised me how alot of people were saying that about Sherk, and never mentioned Thiago? There you go, you guys heard it from 3 fighters! (sort of) That said I hope Diego pounds him out!

by JV on Sep 10, 2008 11:32 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I second that. I think Thiago’s the favorite in this fight, but I’d love to see Diego pull off the upset.

by Jase on Sep 10, 2008 11:56 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

well, I think the thing is Sherk is a champion and was suspended for testoterone levels being above normal… plus BJ Penn was running Sherk into the ground with it everywhere he went.

Thiago Alves is not a champion and was caught using a diuretic, of course diuretics are used to mask steriod use, but it could also be used to cut weight, which is not uncommon.

I strongly suspect Alves uses steriods, he just needs to get caught.

by THORAZINE on Sep 11, 2008 1:50 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah to second what Diego said he got huge , real fast. Not even like a little huge, but a whole lotta huge very fast. You have to wonder whenever a fighter or any athlete goes through that fast of a transformation…

by Da Monkey on Sep 11, 2008 9:28 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Actually I would have to disagree. I am a big time Alves fan as most of you know and I have followed his UFC career closely. In his debut against Spencer Fisher he was small, but since then he has gradually gotten Bigger with each fight. He was young when he made his UFC debut, so we had to expect that his body would fill out and it has. Dont make excuses already for why Alves will MELT Diego’s Mexican Jaw. The UFC has strict steroid testing and I do not feel that fighters will be able to hide steroid use while fighting in the UFC, so stop accusing fighters who work hard of cheating by using roids, especially with out any proof!

by john on Sep 11, 2008 10:07 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Steroids or not, he was busted once for using a banned substance, came in way over weight for his Hughes fight and barely made weight in at least one or two others. The UFC would be remiss in its duties if it wasn’t all over Thiago with random testing.

On an unrelated note, Diego is going to beat him down and choke him out.

by PW on Sep 11, 2008 10:41 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I dont mind them testing Alves heavily because I dont think Alves is cheating. Bring on the tests but untill he tests positive I dont think we should bash him. TO each his own

Just look at the guys he trains with john. Cant remember his name but hes at LW. That guy looks just like Thiago (Gleison Tibau) thats his name I think? But anyway its just a thought with no proof I guess. But he’ll get caught sooner or later if he is.

Thiago got tested after every fight and has always come back negative. He is a strong dude because he is just huge for WW. Sherk, on the other hand, got caught on the roids exam and got punished like he should have. If Alves is on roids then he is doing a pretty f*** awesome job because he NEVER came out positive. I’m not a Alves nuthugger, I just think it’s extremely unfair to him.

by Cristiano from Brazil on Sep 11, 2008 12:54 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

alves did test positive for a diuretic and was suspended, and came in over weight in his last fight with hughes, so he’s gonna get a little flak until he proves that he can make weight and win at the same time. the steroids innuendo was a little uncalled for though.

by b.w. on Sep 11, 2008 1:10 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

being as diuretics can be used to mask steroid use and the fact as they mention in the video hes suddenly become fucking huge i dont think the innuendo is uncalled for. IMO the only reason he got caught with the diuretic was because he fucked up his cycle times.

Its cool to see all these guys bury all the bs and be cool with one another.

There are no excuses for Diegos loss against Koscheck. Ya he was sick, but he took the fight. He just didnt bring it like he usually does. He was so tentative and Kos really had no interest in bringing it either.

If these two locked horns again and both guys came to fight it would be a great fight. And I could easily see Diego getting the win this time around. But both are great fighters.

I’m beginning to think ALL fighters get along. Just lately we’ve seen BJ hanging out with Sherk, and now this. All this talk of beef btwn fighters seems to be mostly to hype fights. Now I’m waiting for video of the two Matts (Serra and Hughes) hanging together, maybe playing a little footsie…

for some reason i think that wont happen but i could see in the future them going to church together or maybe driving tractors lol

Great vid, it’s funny to see these guys together… thought they koscheck hated Deigo. I also saw a video with BJ and Sherk hanging out after their fight…a little bit surreal. anything can happen in MMA!

Koscheck wants to watch his mouth or maybe Bisping will shut him up himself!

Get Chuck Liddell, Wanderlei Silva & Quinton Jackson to sit in a car.

by Sean on Sep 11, 2008 7:21 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

chuck would be cool with both but i’ve got a feeling silva and rampage would not be kosher with each other.

just a hunch.

Classic, I agree Mr. Leben

Whats great is Koscheck wants Bisping to get KO’d by Leben. Do you think the fighters dislike Bisping as much as the hardcore mma fans seem to dislike him? I hope Leben splits Bispings grape super quickly and ko’s this fool….

I must of missed something, they thought Deigo had Hep C and the let him fight anyways? Isn’t hep c contagious?

by WHATSUP on Sep 11, 2008 10:04 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I think so, and staph infection is definitely contagious! That’s why I’m a little skeptical about the whole “Diego was almost dead” argument regarding the Kos fight. I can’t believe that the UFC and whatever state athletic commission would let him get in the octagon with Kos if he had highly contagious conditions like that.

Brendan, you almost got your wish on the car wreck. Unless I am totally blind, at 3:06/3:07 of that video you can clearly see them running a stop sign.

by Humblepie on Sep 11, 2008 10:23 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

This is a great video of how not to stop properly at a stop sign. Geez, who is driving?

by TheDarkOne on Sep 11, 2008 11:56 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

They thought Diego had Hep C. But the second test came back negative. Diego didnt know what was wrong with him, but because the tests were ok he fought. The next day Diego woke up with a giant sized hole in his leg. Turned out he had staph infection and spent the next week in a hospital.

He was definately sick during the Kos fight, just that they didnt exactly know from what so they allowed him to fight.

This is correct.

It was kinda cool to see them be able to be cool. I mean, they were the first TUF “Class”, they should be able to have their diffrences but still root for one another.

Koscheck should move up and fight Bisping! Koscheck will pay for those words/hate

Koscheck did a pretty good interview. I think its hilarious how they were insinuating that Thiago’s on steroids. For everybody whose feelings get hurt when they do that… grow up.

enemies even closer oooooooooooohhhhh. hey, they might hate each other… but they seem to all agree on Thiago’s superb nutrition. LOLOL!! hmmmmm I hope Diego smashes that cheater and fights Kos for a 3rd time. FINAL CHAPTER , no excuses. No getting crazy only at the weighins…cmon now. Winner gets the titalated. Leben still looked a little salty towards Kos. I hope he takes it all out on Bisping and beat the guy in in his own hometown. The Count is out for the count (then the doctor comes running out flashing his little flashlight in his eys)! HAHA! How great would that be? He better find some good training partners, no offense to those Hawaii Kai boys, cuz Bisping’s camp is building up a small militia. Can’t wait for all of their fights.

If they were all getting along, it was they were told to by Dana, no other reason. These guys have as much hate for each other as Ben and Eubanks. That was some serious shit.
