Ultimate Fighter reunion show to debut on Spike TV September 13 (Video trailer included)

We first shared news several weeks ago that a reunion show was in the works with participants from season one of The Ultimate Fighter, which is a mixed martial arts-based reality series that airs on Spike TV.
To read that original report click here.
Today Spike TV confirmed the news and provided additional details regarding the September 13 episode:
"Spike TV and the UFC have gathered together the marquee members of the first season 'The Ultimate Fighter,' the reality show that helped launched the UFC into the mainstream, for a series of interstitials to air as part of 'The Ultimate Fighter 1' marathon featuring all 12 episodes and the incredible finale on Saturday, September 13 (9:00 AM – 11:30 PM, ET/PT).
'The Ultimate Fighter' has introduced countless UFC contenders, and even two champions, to the mixed martial arts world. The notable 'Ultimate Fighter 1' alums will reconvene where it all took place, at the UFC Training Center in Las Vegas, to reflect on the highs and lows from their experience.
Moderated by Joe Rogan, the panel of fighters including UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Forrest Griffin, Chris Leben, Stephan Bonnar, Josh Koscheck, Nate Quarry, Kenny Florian, Diego Sanchez, Bobby Southworth, and Mike Swick, will discuss how much their lives have changed since the show’s premiere, both professionally and personally. UFC President Dana White and host of the series will talk about the profound impact the show has had on his company and the sport of mixed martial arts."

so glad I got this event.
hendo exposed palhaures as a one trick pony who can’t submit a great fighter, and has zero standup.
franklin dominated an overrated hammil (thank god)
rashad looked good, but the scouting report on chucks left dropping when throwing a right is out!
overall great card and kim won the 1st and 3rd, great judging!

Yeah unfortunately Kim won the first and second…I had money on Brown and thought up until the last 2 minutes he was gonna win big for me.

WHAT IN THE WORLD is Bobby Southworth doing on the reunion show? Is he really still hanging that tightly to Kos’s nuts? Besides, I thought they already hired a couple of nerds to wipe down the matts at the UFC training center

actually hes one of the two Champions that the promo refered to. So you gatta give the guy his respect he may not be in the UFC but hes still out there fighting
by dia mette on Sep 8, 2008 4:49 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Serra and Forrest were the two referrenced. I think Gabe became HW champion of the FBFL (Fat Boy Fighting League) last year. Oh wait, the UFC only cares about the UFC… lol
by ViolentMike on Sep 8, 2008 5:03 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Oh yeah your right, I thought the promo was reffering strictly to the first season. The UFC doesnt recognize any other belts but thier own, I dont kow what the hell I was thinking.
But anyways Southworth is a belt holder so I guess that would make three champions.

I watch the UFC for the fights and the competition, this looks like a total waste of time…
by brendan on Sep 8, 2008 11:30 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
This is NOT the reunion show I want to see! I want to know what happened to the guys who washed out for stupid reasons (Noah, Ruediger, Serra’s best friend, etc.) and find out what they are doing and if they regret their decisions. That would be far more interesting to me.
by chefdaddy on Sep 9, 2008 7:17 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I agree…Kim did win 2 out of 3 rounds but I was worried they would give brown a 10-8 in the 2nd to make it closer…Kim needs to work on his cardio but still deserved the win
by McArthur on Sep 8, 2008 2:18 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
You could argue that Kim dominated the first just as much as brown did the second.

Conditioning is the easiest part of the fight game to improve on. Stun Gun will be a top 10 welterweight in a year or so!
I say to let him destroy Mike Swick next!
by john on Sep 8, 2008 3:05 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Destroy Swick john??? Brown was robbed in that fight! Swick would destroy the Stun Gun! The Stun Gun would get KO’d if he tires with Swick!
by JV on Sep 8, 2008 3:24 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
ok JV, keep telling yourself that! Brown got Robbed? but oyu had no problems with the Forrest decision? Give me a break, you are so biased towards your fav fighters its not even funny!
Tito Ortiz has responded to the beef between Rampage and Juanito and its an interesting read that mania refuses to post or let me post. Go read it on another site. I am sick of trying to cut n past it for the rest of you.

JOhn: YOur that dude.. it’s nothing but thing..
by PhilQNY on Sep 8, 2008 4:00 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
C-mon john! Im as biased as you are I guess. How can you not see that Brown won that fight? 1st went to stun gun and 2&3 go to Brown. On the Rampage/Forrest thing it was stupid that the 1st was givin to Forrest. But overall Forrest took that fight!
by JV on Sep 8, 2008 4:01 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
The judging was solid. Rounds 1 and 3 to kim round 2 to Brown. Leave it up to you to complain!
by john on Sep 8, 2008 4:08 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
JV, I guess your favorite fighter is Matt Brown! LMAO! I could give 2 sh*ts about either of those guys and it was obvious to me and everbody watching the fight with me that Brown got robbed. BTW, the only people who thought Rampage beat Forrest are clearly biased towards Rampage or bet a little too much money on Rampage.
by BNF on Sep 8, 2008 4:11 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yea BNF, I dont give a sh*t about Brown either, but he did get robbed! I was trying to defend Mike Swick. In my humble opinion john, (remember, just my humble opinion) I think Swick would smash Dong?
BTW john on what site is the Tito thing on Rampage and Juanito?
by JV on Sep 8, 2008 4:18 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
it was a close fight i gave it to stun gun, but to say brown got robbed is far from true, i had rampage winning his fight from forrest but never thought he got robbed when they anouced forrest the winner thats how close fights go.
by roy on Sep 8, 2008 4:22 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Guys, Brown won the fight fair and square. It’s just that the UFC is trying to build up Stun Gun so they gave him the W to keep his record unblemished…Simple as that…

Why are you dissing palhares so hard? His @nd fight in the ufc was against Dan Henderson. One of the greats of all time. And he didnt get finished. I for one am even more impressed by palhares. Hes super tough, granite chin, awesome subs, and strong as a bull.

Thanks for the post. I was wondering when we were gonna see this.
by Rich B on Sep 8, 2008 1:16 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Off subject but was anyone else impressed with Palhares Saturday night? Someone teach that guy some boxing and I see a future champ.
by c-war on Sep 8, 2008 1:35 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
very impressed with his high kicks and sub attempts but his reach is so short he’ll have a tough time with taller Mw’s like Hendo
by McArthur on Sep 8, 2008 2:06 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
He is just some boxing skills short of a very tough fighter. Once he gets more confident with his hands it will be easier for him to take people down because all he has to do is open up with some combo’s, change level and then get the takedown. He was telegraphing his takedowns and shooting from the outside. He is still new to the mma game and will be a force in the future!
by john on Sep 8, 2008 3:02 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
A couple of things I noticed about the presentation of that fight…
The UFC had Dan Henderson listed as 6’1". Dan is not over 6 feet, in fact, he is 5’11" and he’ll tell you so. In fact, he recently corrected MMAmania’s own Adam Wagner in a recent interview.
Also, they said that Palhares’s record was 17-1. Every site that I visit had him at 8-1. Where does the UFC come up with these numbers? Dana’s rear?
Also, when the announcers would say “Palhares”, a couple of times I thought I heard “Paul Harris”.
by ViolentMike on Sep 8, 2008 4:01 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
my understanding was that it was Rusimar’s 10th fight. Where the UFC came up with hat crazy record I dont know!
by john on Sep 8, 2008 4:10 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Was anyone truly impressed with Hendo’s performance. As a fan of his its getting really frustrating. When is the MONSTER Hendo going to show up? wheres the aggression these days?
by john on Sep 8, 2008 4:38 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
i felt he was to worried about getting the win(witch he needed) so hopefully next fight will be with a bigger name and he will bring it.
by roy on Sep 8, 2008 4:44 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
yeah, he didn’t wan’t to put that little extra “uummpph” into his punches, because that could have caused him to get a little wild and leave himself open to a takedown that he couldn’t properly defend. Simply, he wanted no part of Toquino on top of him. Dan did what he needed to do to get back on track. NOW, a fight between him and Rich makes even more sense, at whatever weight Rich prefers, heck, even catch weight at some Mathematical fraction of pie at Rich’s discretion, its all good, Hendo will still walk away with the win, and we will all see the Hendo that we knew and loved in PRIDE!!!!!!!
by ViolentMike on Sep 8, 2008 5:11 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
are you serious john? hendo looked great!

Hope u r right Mike! I miss the Viscous version of Henderson. The one who’s aggression used to make me cringe! He used to throw Bomb’s with the worst intentions. Thats the Hendo I love! Hopefully now that he has got a Win under his belt, he will get back to the PRIDE version!
Unless Joe Silva wants to cloud another division, he will put together a Henderson vs. Marquardt match up!
by john on Sep 8, 2008 6:40 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
hendo dropped a pretty big bomb at the end of the fight that might have knocked out 95% of most middleweights
by brendan on Sep 8, 2008 10:57 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Not impressed. Those kicks are cute but ineffective. I prefer that he continues to slam people.
Now that was a thing of beauty!
by OJR on Sep 8, 2008 2:29 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
OJR “cute” LMAO! Palhares is definitely tough, but was all hype, Hendo was too soon for him.
by JV on Sep 8, 2008 3:33 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I don’t discredit “Paul Harris” at all for his lost against Hendo. I’m still watching out for the dude. I mean, he had me on the edge of my seat everytime they were on the floor. And the slam, textbook!

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t Forrest the first TUF guy to get a belt? (won’t call him a champion until he defends it one time as well)
Sounds to me like the UFC is trying to melk that as much as they can by putting the whole “newbie -> TUF fighter -> UFC fighter -> UFC Champion” marvel on a pedestal.
Actually nevermind the first question, I just recalled the fluke that was called Matt Serra …

Matt Serra is the first TUF winner to win a UFC Belt.. granted he did lose in the rematch.. but he did win it. So Serra would be first.

If they hooked up again, I guarantee that Diego rips him a new one.
by OJR on Sep 8, 2008 2:27 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I as well believe that if Koscheck and Sanchez fight again, it’ll be a win for Diego. I do believe it’ll be much more exciting this time. Last time Diego was having some problems according to Dana White. It’ll happen.
by Joey 1.0 on Sep 8, 2008 2:49 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
with Diego’s improved stand up, Kos wouldnt stand a chance. Diego can out point him standing and submit him on the ground with ease!
Kos better take that bS win of his and Run, because Diego wiull tear him a new one (and I dont even like Diego, but he is the lessor of 2 evils)!
by john on Sep 8, 2008 3:04 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Kos couldnt finish Diego in their first fight and he had a STAFF INFECTION! He almost retired the day before the fight for Christ sake.
“Several weeks after the fight, Dana White announced that Sanchez was sick on the eve of the fight, and almost had to retire when a test came back indicating he had Hepatitis C.3 Doctors eventually concluded the test results were not correct, but could not diagnose his sickness, so the fight went ahead as planned. The day after the fight Sanchez had a hole in his thigh the “size of a coffee cup” and was diagnosed as a staph infection"
Diego would stomp Kos out in a rematch. Ya I said it.

I know it’s way off topic, but I just read that UFC is planning to make a show in Japan next summer and they want Gomi and Kid to be on the card. If that’s true, the lightweight division will be completely insane. (I’m a huge fan of Kid Yamamoto)
by Cristiano from Brazil on Sep 8, 2008 3:42 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
V, that’s the same thing I thought when I read that news elsewhere.
by ViolentMike on Sep 8, 2008 4:04 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
if they get the Kid, it will be for a super fight against Urijah!
I wouldnt mind seeing Kid vs. Miguel either
by john on Sep 8, 2008 4:40 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
So the Japan show would be a combination of UFC and WEC, hence the first Ultimate Zuffa?
by ViolentMike on Sep 8, 2008 5:14 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
If they are serious about having Kid on the card they will have to add Urijah.
No point in having Kid destroyed by some 155 lb wrestler like Sherk! Kid is way too small to compete in the UFC lightweight division.
If Kid is involved, I bet my life that Urijah or maybe Miguel will be his opponent

Sweet Im looking forward to this show, I got hooked on the ultimate fighter 1 as a matter of fact I wish my friend at work never mentioned it to me because I have of spent way to much time and money watching UFC.
But I will say thanks to the UFC i longer watch television (except UFC) I could care less about foot ball or any other sport I used to be a huge wings fan until Yzerman retired but after watching MMA eeverything else is boring. so I guess it has its pros and cons.
The funny thing is I thought florian was lucky during the show and didnt have a future as a fighter but he was the first one to get a title shot and is a top 5 LW fighter boy was I wrong
looking forward to watching this on spike, thanks for the update as always mania
