Breaking news: Karo Parisyan hurt; UFC 88 fight with Yoshiyuki Yoshida scrapped

From UFC.com:
"A last-minute back injury has forced welterweight contender Karo Parisyan to withdraw from his UFC 88 bout with Yoshiyuki Yoshida. Saturday’s UFC 88 card (pay-per-view 10pm ET / 7pm PT) will continue with nine bouts."
Oh well. The welterweight bout was set to be a nice battle between tough Judokas. The precise back injury to "The Heat" is unclear at this time. However, leading up to the fight Parisyan seemed as if this was going to be his opportunity to show his true skills -- he was training, searching for redemption and had apparently resolved his problems with "panic attacks."

They’re showing Brown/kim according to mma weekly. WTF are they thinking Tavares,Batman will be a much more entertaining fight.
by Jack on Sep 5, 2008 3:50 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Agree on Batman vs Tavares. That’s actually a competive match up on paper. That being said, Kim has a TON of hype, and this could be seen as a great chance to get him some attention. He’s going to crush Brown.

doesn’t bother me at all…. I thought this was on UFC 89 any way!
by Robert on Sep 5, 2008 4:58 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I am not at all interested in seeing Matt Brown fight anyone. He is far from a break out star from the last seson of TUF, and most have already forgotten about him. On top of that his record is barely above .500.
by naturalshadow on Sep 5, 2008 6:45 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
lol remember CB Dolloway said in an interview that the whole “Matt Brown is a tough MF” was just a big joke throughout the house and they had laughs over it

Well I guess this is good news to you Karo haters, you guys always cry how Karo is a boring fighter and when he is not fighting you guys cry over it too. Some of you guys cry more than most girls I know. The dude is hurt and now we will miss this fight which i thought he will win. Same thing happened when he had his title shot this is not fear or mental issues, the guy is HURT………… wait till he comes back
by TKO on Sep 5, 2008 3:13 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
it’s not good news to this karo hater. I was looking forward to this fight.
karo’s been saying how he trained like crazy for this fight, never trained as hard, etc. I was looking forward to seeing how he would react if he lost.

by McArthur on Sep 5, 2008 2:23 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
no the weigh-ins are at 4pm eastern. i dont see how karo injured himself at the last minute either unless he had another panic attack and pulled out.

he is at the UFC Press Conference….fine.. between the prees conference and the wiegh ins his …not fine.. well maybe he missed a dose of Prozac..WTF.. that has the be world F’n record.. how do you get hurt after you show to fight.. oh man.. I want to more info on this story.. it does’t add up.

And wasn’t there just a thread yesterday of Karo speaking for 10 minutes saying that he is in the best shape of his life??
by ViolentMike on Sep 5, 2008 3:12 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I dont buy it! He just simply is not mentaly GAME enough to step in their with Yoshida right now! guys that get Knocked out fofr the 1st time after many fights react weird to it at times.
Tell that idiot to go see Dr. Melfi and come get Judo THrown by YOshida-san like a man!

by THORAZINE on Sep 6, 2008 12:39 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
no! i know what happened we were back stage when we heard it happen…he was running the tread real quick to make a last minute half pound cut and while he was running someone yelled “thiago’s knee!!” and karo freaked, slipped and broke his back.

lol! i was thinking the same kinda thing.

maybe if he wasn’t such a fatty, he wouldn’t have back problems.
by KitsuneX on Sep 5, 2008 4:19 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Any details on the injury? Or was it a panic attack and he chickened out? One way or another, Karo will have a hard time to get back in a contender spot.

A few minutes ago I would have said that was a dumb thing to say, but now I think I have to agree with you. getting Knocked out by Thiago must have done something to him.

I feel bad for Karo. He’s had some emotional, physical, and mental issues lately……this was a great opportunity to show that he wasn’t getting passed up.
FYI Karo, that was the train passing you by…
by Derick on Sep 5, 2008 2:29 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Karo is nothing but a priss. he pulled out because he knew he was going to get it handed to him by yoshida. he probly hurt his back giving manvil the anvil…
by ralphie on Sep 5, 2008 2:33 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
WTF!? Man this sucks hard, this was yoshida’s coming out event. I heard that there was something wrong with the main card earlier but i figured it was just forum trolls. It’s the week of the fight – you’re not suppose to be doing anything other than light workouts. And if it’s a back problem, he must have had it for a while. I fully blame Karo.
by NameNotRequired on Sep 5, 2008 2:34 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Yeah Diego an upcomer at the time fighting a vet and he still handed karo his ass! Karo has never been great ,, he only had promise of greatness ,,, but you can say that about half the people in JAIL!
by Qmonster on Sep 5, 2008 3:51 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
They should just dump this guy. There is always some EXCUSE when everyone knows the REASON is that he sucks. Fuck Karo.
by the_mexicutioner on Sep 5, 2008 2:34 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
i think its a shame. iv’e never liked karo much, but he used to be a damned good fighter, who could hang with anyone. his war with diego sanchez was a classic.

Karo should have to pay for all Yoshidas trainers if he is just having another panic attack.
It’s not cheap to prepare for a fight and if Karo really does have mental issues that are preventing him from being a fighter then maybe quit fighting.
by DirtyML on Sep 5, 2008 2:46 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I definately agree, do you think the UFC will pay Yoshida anyway? Easy for me to say, but I would.

I knew it! I was waiting for this announcement… the Back issue is the best excuse because impossible for any one to dispute , but can never be proven , just ask all the losers on unemployment!! Karo backed out because he knew he would get his butt handed to him,, he probably panicked attacked all away threw his decsison to chicken out!!

I knew it! last minute my arse,,, fighters dont train hard this close to the fight, usually last week they take it easy, this is just another way for Karo to duck another fighter, I was surprised he took this fight in the first place,, but he put himself in a tuff place with his losses and boring fights ,,, mister " do you know who I am" will be asking that same very question in the mirror,,, I heard he couldn’t get a hold of his feelings for this fight and felt he was gonna lose from an insider… Once I heard that ..I was waiting for this announcement… the Back issue is the best excuse because impossible for any one to dispute , but can never be proven , just ask all the l@#sers on unemployment!! I’m going to take a shot in the dark and guess that you “knew it”, and that fighters don’t train this hard close to a fight. Also that you believe a back excuse is good, because it can’t be disproven
by yohnstoppable on Sep 5, 2008 4:22 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Pity they didn’t give Yoshida some other opponent rather than taking him off after all the work he’s put in. Would have been great to see him fight.

Plain and simple, Karo “All Talk” Parisyan pussed out. He knew his ass was going down against Yoshida and another loss would have sent him packing to the psychiatric ward. Was really looking forward to seeing him getting spanked!

If the injury is not too severe they should reschedule this for UFC 89 taking the place of Thiago Silva vs Lyoto Macida in UK. I think this is fair for Yushida that probably trained his a$$ off and for Karo which an unfortunate injury took his chance to prove himself. I was really waiting for Karo to dominate this match too bad.
by TKO on Sep 5, 2008 5:26 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
That is a really good idea, actually. Unfortunately for Yoshida, Karo would wimp out again.
