UFC Quick Quote: Brock Lesnar does not like to talk about Fedor Emelianenko

brock lesnar

"I'm hearing all this talk about Fedor Emelianenko. Who gives a shit about Fedor? I don't care. If I'm fighting Randy Couture, that's what this press conference is about, I don't give a damn about Fedor. I'm tired of hearing about fucking Fedor, all right? Randy Couture is fighting Brock Lesnar November 15. His number one concern should be Brock Lesnar. And Dana White could care less about Fedor. Everybody's beating around the bush, yeah, you want that fight? I don't give a damn. But I'm sick and tired of sitting on the phone listening about Fedor. He's not with the company, and he might not ever be with the company, so who fucking gives a shit?"

-- Truer words were never spoken today on the conference call to announce the heavyweight showdown between Randy Couture and Brock Lesnar at UFC 91. Lesnar clearly prefers to talk about other things besides Fedor Emelianenko. Real things. Things that are actually going to happen. He followed with, "So why are we wasting our breath on talking about a guy or a match that might not ever happen?" Unfortunately, he's right.

Roids do that.

In actuality, Randy vs Brock will sell more PPV’s than Randy vs Fedor.

Brock has had 2 fights in the UFC and has looked impressive in both, although he is 1-1. Randy Couture is one of the legends of the UFC and he is making his return after a year off.

Brock is fighting Randy Couture! Why would he want to talk about Fedor. I actually like the fact that Brock was keeping it real on the conference call.

Does anyone have an AUDIO link to the call?

by ViolentMike on Sep 3, 2008 9:44 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Agreed. But, I’m sure he realizes that even if he has the belt in the UFC, he is not the number one HW, he will always be shadowed by Fedor, as will any HW in the UFC.

by Kimura by Fedor on Sep 3, 2008 12:09 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah he will be recognizis as that.. but who is fighting better competition? sylvia is the best person fedor has fought in years. untill fedor comes and fights the best i beleive randy is the best hw alive.

brendan thinks that Brock Lesnar needs to calm down, in all honesty, brendan thinks that Brock Lesnar should stop referring to himself in the 3rd person, brendan… oh and Brock would get owned by Fedor any day of the week, at least thats what brendan thinks

by brendan on Sep 3, 2008 6:24 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I am going to have to kindly disagree with that Belfort Fan. I think Randy is obviously the one with something to prove here, but I do think he is a close second and would love to see that epic fight.

It’s called Roid Rage. It might also do him in like it did Chris Benoit…

it seems to me, that ufc is just a more real version of WWF/wwe. all lesnar cares about is making money.

For real!!!! Enough Fedor talk. If Fedor really wanted to fight Randy it would have happened…..unless he really is that much of a puppet on his managers hand

by RiverHorror on Sep 3, 2008 1:45 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Fedor simply dose not like the politics of fighting so he lets his managers handle it. their are plenty other fighters just like that, but because he is so high up he gets the blunt of the negativity.

by Wanderlei Fan on Sep 3, 2008 9:01 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Randy is going to lose to Lesnar, then Mir is going to lose to Nog, then Lesnar will shock the world and beat Nog, then He will reign as champ for a while. Then Randy is going to disapear becuase he wont have the drive to win his other fights after he losses to brock, and randy will never fight Fedor. And randy would have wasted all this time for nothing. With randy’s old age, I can’t see him taking a Lesnar Punch. War Lesnar!!!!!!!! To Bad im going to be in bootcamp so I won’t be able to see this fight happen. But I’ll watch it when I get out.

its funny this – in the past, the ones who talk shit about Fedor get smashed on in about 1 minute – its happened every time – dood should just keep his mouth zipped about Fedor

by Insain on Sep 3, 2008 2:41 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

How is he talking shit about Fedor? He’s not mad at Fedor, he’s mad at the media for asking about him all the time.

by Pat on Sep 3, 2008 7:35 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

If Fedor ever comes to UFC then maybe he’ll get his chance to shut Brock’s mouth.

by PW on Sep 3, 2008 9:34 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

He may want to do it while Brock is still very green. Brock was not as impressive as he could have been against Heath, but his wrestling and power are unmatched. If he can learn a decent amount of BJJ, and do more with the positions he was able to get in the Heath fight, he could be a huge problem for anyone, Fedor included.

by naturalshadow on Sep 3, 2008 2:41 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I would way rather see Fedor vs Brock, just because I would love to see one catch a true *ss beating! I still think Randy has about a 40% chance of winning.

this is the only way for brock to own fedor.

by kdawg on Sep 3, 2008 2:52 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Chase what are you smoking rocks? If mir subbed Lesner wtf makes you think NoG who is a better striker and sub and better chin and better stamina and more heart then mir is gonna lose to Lesner….Go watch Bob sapp vs Nog that was Bob sapp at his best which would kill most people but nog still came out on top Lesner is only 280ish pounds when he fights, in other words this shit aint new to ex-pride champions who fought people reguardless of their weight.

by Khaos_warrior on Sep 3, 2008 2:57 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Bob sap is a joke, he sucks, Lensar is a changed and smarter thinking fighter. lesnar is a world clas wrestler, bab sap is a freak show, don’t compare the 2, your a joke. Mir got lucky with that sub, lesnar will never lose any part of anyfight, unless he gets luckily subed, witch he learned from jhis mistake. Bob sapp Is irrevelant and han’t beat anybody.

by Chase on Sep 3, 2008 3:18 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Lesnar is better then Sapp, but that doesnt mean that Nog wont beat Lesnar. Nog is a genius on the mat. He has the best mma jits skills in the world. I think Lesnar will beat Randy, but I KNOW he wont beat Nog

by john on Sep 3, 2008 6:52 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Mir got that win gift-wrapped by The Moustache. Brock was a few seconds from a TKO before a BS stand-up gave Mir the chance to grab a very inexperienced fighter’s ankle. I like Mir, and I love listening to him do the color for WEC, but he won’t beat Brock again. Count on it.

by PW on Sep 3, 2008 9:36 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

wow im sick of people blaming that fight on Mazzagati… get over it already

by brendan on Sep 3, 2008 6:26 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Watch the fight, I have seen it. You will have a greater respect for the amount of punishment that Nog can take. It definately is not irrelevant when it comes to showing how tough Nog really is. Make a comment after you have seen it.
That aside though, if Silvia had any sort of balls or any kind of killer instinct in their last fight, and didn’t try to win by descision, he would have won that. Kongo is 110 x the striker that Sylvia is, so I am sure that he would have been able to knock Nog out considering how well Tim was doing. Nog is skillfull enough and tough enough to beat inexpeienced Lesner, but there is no disputing the fact that Lesner can knock nearly anyone out if he connects.

by Ade on Sep 3, 2008 11:08 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Agreed John, Big nog is in a league of his own. Lesnars inability to finish Herring on the ground when there were dozens of prime submission positions available, further cements the point that Brock’s main weakness is a BJJ blackbelt on their back. I think Nog, Werdum, and Gonzaga would probably submit him, but guys like Vera, Cain Velazquez, Kongo, would get overpowered and ridden to the ground.
He definately needs to step up his BJJ because he didn’t even try to submit Herring. Kongo couldn’t either, but at least he was trying.

by getrawbc on Sep 3, 2008 10:11 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Herring was trying to lure Lesnar into a position where Herring would at least have a chance to work for a sub. Brock didn’t take the bait. He just stayed on top of Herring and pounded on him while Herring turtled.

by PW on Sep 3, 2008 11:33 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Brock is my new hero. I hope he destroys Randy and somehow beats Nog. flame away

by sbud on Sep 3, 2008 5:14 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Brock should’nt get a hw title shot after only 3 pro fights. He’s entirely too inexpierenced a fighter. Like many people have said (myself included) he looked great in his 1 punch against herring, then he just laid on top of him. Herring is nothing but a gatekeeper fighter and brock couldn’t finish him. I’m not a Randy nuthugger by any means, as a matter of fact the crap he pulled for the last year maked me sick, he didn’t resign b/c of what “fighters” are paid he resigned b/c of what he got paid which was still alot of money. There are many more fighters that should be getting paid more who put on more entertaining fights. First and foremost on the list Chris Leben. Fight after fight he brings it. Roger Huerta, Uriajah Faber. The list goes on and on. Alot of fighters ,fight to feed there families. Randy was making 250,000 a fight plus he has 6 gyms running ans sponserships. Captain America was well taken care of. But I digress, The fact of the matter is Randy is gonna work over Lesnar just like he did Sylvia. Then We’ll see what happens

by butterteeth on Sep 3, 2008 5:30 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

yeah, like nogueira was able to finish the gatekeeper..

good point

by UFCAddict on Sep 3, 2008 10:05 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Just thought that I would point out a couple other problems with your post butterteeth. First, Lesnar did not “just lay on top” of Herring after the first devastating punch. Herring turtled and Brock kept pounding on him until the fight was over. Herring took dammage the entire fight. Remember Brock’s Knees to Herring’s midsection? Maybe you need to watch the fight again? Speaking from experience those main events can get a little hazy, memory wise. Finishing may be an issue for Brock right now but you can guarantee that he’s going to be miles ahead of where he was for Herring by the time this fight rolls around.
And second, as has been pointed out many times, comparing Sylvia to Lesnar makes you look like you don’t know your MMA. Brock will take Couture down, bank on it. When was the last time you saw Big Tim go for a takedown, or use anything other than that jab of his for that matter?
Also, did you have a problem with Mir getting a shot at Nog’s belt because after his return his record was a little sketchy. And who, other than Brock deserves the shot Brock’s getting? IMO, there is no clear contender which is why this heavyweight “tournament” makes so much sense.

by Canucklehead on Sep 3, 2008 1:11 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

First on your list is Chris Leben? Leben is a tough guy, but his skills are not up to par with most of the fighters in the UFC. I think Jardine could certainly use a much better paycheck. He made peanuts to fight Liddell and Silva.

Yeah, soon they will have C-list celebrities like The King of Queens and Marcellus Wallace in the audience doing the standard MMA-event fist/mean mug pose, hoping Rogan plugs their upcoming movie or TV show.

The King of Queens guy is an ‘A’ lister. He also works out with BAS RUTTEN, have you heard of him? By the way his name is Kevin James and he would kill you, so show some respect.

hahaha brock is hilarious.

cant you guys see this is all promotion by him? he is deliberately becoming a heel, which is a smart pro wrestling tactic, to sell more tickets.

if it was tito it would be a little different because all tito is these days is a big flappy mouth and an empty skull with no fight left in him.

but like it or not, heath is a very credible opponent and brock completely outclassed him.

you have to keep in mind, as brock progresses, he WILL start finishing people. hes got the punching power of a 70mph semitrailer, and if he learns anacondas, darces and decent guillotines, he wll be chokin bitches out and TKOing people till 6 in the mornin, mark my words.

no im not buying into the lesnar hype machine, im looking at it objectivally, you cannot deny that brock has crazy potential.

well i’ll tell you who cares about fedor tero, mma fans care about fedor. that is actual fans of mixed martial arts, who care about respecting opponents and the technique that is involved in fighting rather than the hillbilly wrassling crowd that lesnar draws who just want to watch “somebody gettin there ass beat”

by Phil on Sep 3, 2008 11:24 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

well mma fans care about fedor tero. people who actually enjoy the technique involved in fighting and those who care about having respect for ones opponent. thats opposed to the people that follow lesnar who generally have about 10 teeth and watch wwe

by Phil on Sep 3, 2008 11:25 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Is does suck that he is already getting a title shot. I agree with that. But, it happens all the time. Especially with other companies. Most of which are owned by some form of the UFC. Noons, for example, gets ktfo against “krazy horse” then gets the belt the next fight. Doesnt make sense. But it does happen.

I respect Brock myself. Dude is a tru fighter. He has the heart. Once his skills catch up with his heart, he will be a serious force. His power is already there. He has been fighting the cream of crop in his division the whole time. No “build up” fights at all. Nobody but true veterans. Give the guy some credit for real. He has been doubted by almost everyone since he came in to mma. For no good reason except that he is a former WWE wrestler. Hes is obviously doing his job. He is building fights up and putting on a good show. If you hate the idea that much, then dont watch it. No point in complaining about it.

by enzo-enormous on Sep 3, 2008 11:39 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Enzo, why are people so hard on Brock? He is fighting the top guys, and he is a very likable character. Why is everyone giving him such a hard time? It’s like there is no pleasing these whiner fans.

We’ve yet to see Brock Lesnar’s face cracked with a solid punch from a world-class striker. As most of us know, Randy Couture IS NOT that striker and will lose. Lesnar has 1 gameplan, intimidate, intimidate, intimidate…then charge and hope the guy runs out of the cage. Guess what pal, go ahead and charge at Fedor and see how quick he smashes your face in before you even hit the ground.

by Amir on Sep 3, 2008 12:05 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Everyone knows Brock couldn’t beat Fedor so why bring it up? He has 3 pro fights and already people are talking about him versus Fedor, pretty damn impressive if you ask me.

They were right to put Brock against Randy — I am eagerly looking forward to the fight. You have a savvy veteran on one hand and a superb, gigantic athlete without much experience on the other. I can see the fight going either way and it really depends upon Randy coming up with a good game plan. How many of you, me included, were worried about Randy losing in his fight against Tim Sylvia?

You can’t dismiss either Brock or Randy in this fight and that’s what will make it exciting!
