Karo Parisyan: 'I have so much at stake' for Yoshiyuki Yoshida UFC 88 fight

karo parisyan

Props: Sherdog.com

Quoteworthy:

"If I get hit by lighting and I lose, God forbid, I don’t care. All I know for this fight is I trained twice as hard as I did for the Thiago Alves fight. I have to thank Thiago Alves. He woke me up.... I have so much at stake. I have so much stress on me. People don’t understand how tough it is. I need to be able to conquer this match. Not sounding selfish at all, [but] I fight for myself. I fight to prove something to myself, to feel good about myself when I walk outside."

Karo Parisyan talks about how important his next fight is against Yoshiyuki Yoshida at UFC 88: "Breakthrough" at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Ga., on September 6. "The Heat" is coming off a technical knockout loss to Thiago Alves back in April, which dashed his near-term title chances. And it was just the second time ever he had ever been finished in more than 20 professional fights.

I would like to see him finish a fight for once, but I wonthold my breath.

I wish the next man to interview him would ask him if he ever plans on FINISHING an opponent?

by john on Sep 2, 2008 10:40 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I got Yoshida in this one.

by WB on Sep 2, 2008 10:47 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

lmao, good one. That question would be hilarious.

by c-war on Sep 2, 2008 11:35 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

It would be funny, but also a valid question. that dude ariel or what ever he is who got the “Ask Tim how my pee pee taste” response out of Arlovski, is probably the only mma reporter out there with the ballz to ask that question.

Could u imagine how mad Karo would get? “Yo Bro….”

by john on Sep 2, 2008 12:03 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

ARiel is that DUDE.. he ask’s the question we all wantto know..

KAro’s repsonse’s would be ..“Yo Bro.. Do you know what I would do to you”…

Ariel’s response: Not finish me…

by PhilQNY on Sep 2, 2008 12:06 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

LMAO….not finish me! I would Die Laughing!

by john on Sep 2, 2008 12:24 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

“I swear to God bro, there is so much stuff I can do to these f*ckin idiots.”

Show them how to take a fight to a boring 3 round decision? Sweet. Haha.

Can anyone tell me where this quote comes from:

“Do you know who I am? Do you know who I am?”

by RedDog on Sep 2, 2008 2:55 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

The season of TUF when Karo came in the locker room and got in Nate Diaz’s face but Nate got hype with him in a return. He made himself sound like a classic ass.

hahahaha You got it John!

I remember the WEC Karo that was hungry for winning, hungry for a good fight, hungry for a championship….Karo of late only looks hungry for cheeseburgers and Armenian food.

He reminds me of the old BJ Penn that relied on his good jits (in Karo’s case good judo) to win him fights. I’d like to see a conditioned Karo whip some azz…I wonder if he could drop to 155. I don’t see him taking out Fitch, Kos, or GSP. He’s already lost to Thiago and Diego.

A conditioned Karo at 155 vs Huerta?

by TabascoSAUCE on Sep 2, 2008 4:51 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

C-war, at 170lbs you’ll never see Karo ‘ripped’ but I bet he comes in as good a shape as he’s ever been in.

by THORAZINE on Sep 2, 2008 7:54 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I hope Karo can pull it off he is very talented.I don’t know thogh

by DBG on Sep 2, 2008 10:28 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I got YOshida in this one.

Karo is very lucky that he is fighting Yoshida instead of Stun Gun. The stun Gun will be a top 10 UFC welterweight by this time next year, you wait n see. Heard it here 1st.

I think the stun gun could already beat:
Karo
Marcus
Lytle
Burkman
Rumble

I would like to see him destroy Swick 1st!

by john on Sep 2, 2008 10:39 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Stun Gun.. is the truth at 170.

by PhilQNY on Sep 2, 2008 10:40 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Phil, I spent all week watching footage on him, and he is a really bad dude, who I expect to shoot straight to the top 10 of the division. This kid is 6’3, athl;etic, strong, great wrestling, very good guard passes, some tight Judo and a Nasty Ground n pound!

by john on Sep 2, 2008 10:42 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

That is a dangerous combo.

by PhilQNY on Sep 2, 2008 10:52 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I am still waiting for Friday/Saturday to come and BetUs releases the odds for Stun Gun vs Matt Brown. Matt’s whole game is his standup. Not a good idea against Stun Gun…. I hope that not too many people know of Stun Gun yet and the odds are relatively close to even. However, I think Stun Gun will open up aroun -240.

by ViolentMike on Sep 2, 2008 11:12 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

vM: In all honesty, I dont care what the odds are, I would take Stun Gun at even -400, but like you said hopefully not many people bet on him, make it better for us.

I really believe he will shoot straight up to the top 10 of the UFC. By this time next year he should be close to top 5, if they involve him in meaningful match ups that will allow him to move up the rankings.

After he dismantles brown, I would like to see him put a beating on Swick next, and show the world how serious of a fighter he really is!

by john on Sep 2, 2008 12:05 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Stun gun is going to be the guy to challenge GSP for the belt. Well lets see if he gets passes Matt Brown first if so maybe he can challenge top 10 guy.

by TKO on Sep 2, 2008 11:31 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Stun Gun could get an upset on GSP. But I ain’t countin’ on it bro…

by "TheNegation" on Sep 2, 2008 7:02 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

do you know who GSP is bro? lol

by brendan on Sep 3, 2008 12:45 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

As I’ve said, I ain’t countin’ on it. That Stun Gun guy would get a beating worse that Jon Fitch had!

by TheNegation on Sep 3, 2008 5:56 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I really don’t like Karo. Aside from Noons and Baroni, he is the biggest douche in the sport. I’m hoping Yoshida puts the wood to him.

by the_mexicutioner on Sep 2, 2008 10:35 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

To me it sounds like he is adding too much pressure for himself.. To work yourself up like that is no good.

For KAro..

Your a UFC fighter… Your responsible for training to the best of your abilities..giving a 100%.. in training..and in fighting.. the pieces will fall where they may. This statement sounds like he is worried.. dude.. your going to fight regardless.. all this talk is not going to help you.

by PhilQNY on Sep 2, 2008 10:36 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

phil, I too am worried about his mental state for this up coming fight. sounds that way to me as well.

I like Yoshida

by john on Sep 2, 2008 10:40 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

maybe him sounding worried is a good thing. he never took training seriously before because he is talented and always had a built in excuse….maybe he’s really training and is worried because if he loses now then he just wasn’t good enough

P.S. Thiago Alves did not wake you up Karo, he put your ass to sleep

by crowls on Sep 2, 2008 10:56 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Crowls, I think u hit the nail on the head with your comment, if this doesn’t wake Karo up, then nothing will.

by THORAZINE on Sep 2, 2008 7:56 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, way to much pressure to be heaping on oneself when dealing with panic attacks. You can hear the stress in his words. By all accounts Yoshida is a killer at 170. Karo is in a very tough spot.
Oh, and I don’t think we’ll see a “ripped” Karo until he’s forced to rededicate himself (possibly after a loss this weekend) and go after the 155 pound division.

by Canucklehead on Sep 2, 2008 12:44 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Canucklehead, Karo definitely needs to go to 155 lbs, he could be a number #1 contender to fight BJ in that weight class almost instantly.

by THORAZINE on Sep 2, 2008 7:57 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

PhilQNY – Amir always had nerves, but he cleaned out the TUF competition. I don’t think it’s a big deal that he’s got nerves. I’d me more worried if he didn’t. I think it’s great that he’s taking this so seriously. A new chapter for Karo.

by MMACrossfire on Sep 2, 2008 2:32 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Sherk is the other guy who’s finished him back in 2001, bet that’ll surprise some ppl who may not’ve known, lol. I dont know, Yoshida is good. But Karo, he comes in ready and trained to his abilities, then he should defintely win this fight.

by Joey 1.0 on Sep 2, 2008 10:44 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Karo is a tool and I hope he gets owned again.

by Buuck on Sep 2, 2008 10:52 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I am actually don’t mind Karo. He does talk some crap sometimes, but I like what he brings to the Octagan. I am one of the few who do not care wether a fighter finishes a fight or not, as long as the action is good. I have always wanted to see Karo fight Hughes or even Koscheck just because of all the techinical skills they have, but that probably will never happen. It used to really annoy me how Diego alaways seemed to get tougher opponets than Koscheck when he was working his way up the rankings. I hope they eventually have their rematch so Diego can beat the blonde out of him. Arrogant prick.

by Ade on Sep 2, 2008 11:20 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Ade – Agreed 100% about Karo, including whether somebody “finishes” or not. That’s my thoughts exactly.

Don’t agree about Koscheck. I think Koshcheck got who he got, including Diego, who beat the tougher competition you mention. I’m not a Koscheck fan, I just don’t think he’s necessarily arrogant.

by MMACrossfire on Sep 2, 2008 2:38 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Karo, good luck with feeling good about yourself.

by Grembone on Sep 2, 2008 12:01 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I hope Karo wins. He is a great fighter. But Yoshida is a handful and this can go either way

by PP on Sep 2, 2008 12:09 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I think Yoshida is going to win just because he is a known finisher. Karo might win round one or round two but I think eventually he is going to make a mistake and Yoshida will capitalize.

by KneeToTheFace on Sep 2, 2008 12:52 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Karo by 1st round T/KO destruction.

Yoshida choked out a mid level fighter in War Machine. Someone like Karo who is the best of the best contenders in the division when he brings his A-Game, is not going to lose to this guy if he is focused and determined. I think Yoshida has a chance to steal this fight, but watch out if Karo comes to fight. Karo Parisyan via Unanimous Decison 29-28, 30-27, 30-27.

he beat dan hardy and katsuya inoue. hes a pretty damn good fighter.

Karo is going down hard ! Yoshida or any top 10 fighter is lightening striking Karo down!! can’t wait for his excuse on why he loses this one :)

by Qmonster on Sep 2, 2008 7:44 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I cant either but we know he will come up with some off the wall one.
