UFC 88 video 'Countdown' to Liddell vs Evans
Interesting to see the hamstring injury to Liddell that he sustained earlier this year just before the fight with Evans at UFC 85: "Bedlam" that never happened:

pALHARES IS GOING TO TAKE HENDO DOWN AT WILL! and if you are going to respond to this post come with something a little better then Hendo’s Greco Roman Pedigree because I know all that and I still think Dan is getting taken down and then submitted!
For those that dont know, palhares is a student of Murilo Bustamante who fought Hendo twice in PRIDE.
I honestly believe that Henderson will loose.

I wont buy into the Palhares hype just yet john! If he gets past Hendo then yea, the hype is well deserved!

have you seen him fight anyone besides Salavary?
by john on Sep 1, 2008 4:02 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
John, Hendo will not get taken down at will, Expecially by Palhares, I’m not saying hendo won’t lose, Im saying with his wrestling backdown, and his size, he won’t get taken down at will, I think that if Lesnar and Randy fight, Randy will get taken down at will though, Just becuase of lesnars size and speed. War Hendo!!!!!!!

Chase, I am a die hard Hendo fan, and I really think that not only will he get taken down by Palhares, I think he will get submitted as well.

Henderson was put on his back a numerous amount of times against Arona, and I see the same thing happening next Saturday, only Palhares will finish with a sub

JOhn, I watched some of Palhares’ other fights, and IMO, he may be a genius on the ground. But that genius doesn’t translate to him taking Hendo down at will. Hendo is just too good for that. Plus, Palhares is too short to impose his game on Hendo, which is taking Hendo to the ground at will.
At most, Palhares can go for the upset submission of the night[let’s wish he can], but he ain’t gonna take Hendo at will, like what you’ve said. Hendo will be walking around at like 200 or more by that time so it will be difficult for Palhares to dictate the ground game…
by TheNegation on Sep 1, 2008 6:40 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Hendo will win, he will not et taken down at will, any time Palhares wants the fight to the ground it won’t go there, hendo will hopfully fight smart and keep the fight on his feet and knock him out.

John, I’ve seen a good deal of Plahares’s fights and even posted a couple on this sight, but I think you’re going a little far by saying he can take Hendo down at will. Aside from his wrestling petagry he trains with some of the best wrestlers in MMA, like Lindland (boring, but a good wrestler none the less), he’s trained with Couture, and all the guys at team Quest. Don’t get me wrong I like Paalhares’s chances, but if Dan approaches this fight inteligantly (somthing he seems to have a tough time doing) he should win.

As much as I like Hendo, I think his takedown defense is grossly over rated! It should be much better then it is, but I have seen him get taken down by most of his opponents, some who had no business taking him down.
Rusimar is a lil Brazilian Tank of muscle. He is very short so he will have leverage on his side with every takedown. Palhares has some of the best take downs I have ever seen out of a Jits guy.
I understand why the safe pick is to say that Hendo WONT be taken down, but you guys wait and see…. UPSET SPECIAL!!!!!

Dan Migliorata used to be a UFC Judge. He judged the bas Rutten vs. Randleman title fight back in the day but Buffer pronounced his name wrong, he called him Don instead of Dan

Yeah, plus Shad gasses! He ought to be ashamed of himself because old-iceman doesn’t gas like he does.

The closer and closer the fight gets… the more chance im givin evans
by braveheart on Sep 1, 2008 1:57 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Everybody has a chance untill they get hit by one of Chucks bombs! Then its a question of do they want to get hit again? IMO after Rashad gets hit, he will stay away and not want to get to close!
by JV on Sep 1, 2008 2:56 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Rashad says he has a tough chin huh…Well let’s see how tough it would be once he gets hit by those so calles “bombs”. His tough chin will shatter like glass, and his body will lay stiff! Man I can just see it!

by GNP on Sep 1, 2008 2:33 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
i predict a long boring fight that will end in a split decision. which ever fighter looses may not sniff contention again for a couple of years, so i cant see either one of them let it go and take risks
by day1er on Sep 1, 2008 2:44 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
If it is boring, it will be because of Rashad! I think after Rashad feels the power, he’ll just keep trying to take Chuck down!
by JV on Sep 1, 2008 2:57 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
JV, right on. rashads gonna get hit a few times, shoot for the takedown, not get it and then hes gonna get scared. also chuck doesnt even have a few more years for a title shot. this is his big chance IMO. the sports going so fast i dont see chuck being able to keep up! love the iceman, but age isnt just a number. hes gotta do his thing now
by medecine balls on Sep 1, 2008 3:31 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I agree medecine balls! To bad most fighters cant age like Randy Couture!

JV – In fact, Chuck expects Rashad to go for countless takedowns, and gas himself in the process. That’s when Chuck starts in with his sniper-like strikes over the top and straight up the middle. Let’s hope that Rashad has a better plan.
by MMACrossfire on Sep 1, 2008 9:55 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I can i can see chuck countering every punch rashad throws, i can see chuck backing off and throwing some bombs when rashad comes in for a take down, and therefore i see an early stoppage in the remaining minutes of round 1 possibly 2..
by Sir_alan on Sep 1, 2008 2:56 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
But my luck ..liking chuck and getting so pumped for him to win, I can’t get my hopes up theres always and upset waiting to happen..

Did you see the look on Chuck’s face when they said “as hard as you can?” It changed to being focused so fast! Like he just flicked a mental switch, and then knocks the guy down by hitting him in the arm! Great stuff.

Rashad is one of the most versatile wrestlers in the division as we have seen in various fights. He does not just rely on his wrestling although he does posses some of the most explosive takedowns in the division, he is pretty technical with his strikes and we know he can kick. He may not be at the level as Chuck when it comes to striking, but that doesn’t mean that Chuck couldn’t get caught. People may well be looking at the way Chuck destroyed Silva, but they also need to remember that Silva had no game plan, he just stood in front of Chuck and decided to bang with no strategy or without any intention of avoiding much of Chucks punches. He paid the price for that, and make Chuck look good in the process. I really do not see Rashad being so stupid. He is tough enough and skilful enough to give Chuck a hard time wether people give him credit or not. I believe he will be able to take Chuck down, it’s keeping him down that will be difficult. If he can do that, I can see him getting a descision win. If Rashad comes to fight intelligently, I can see him taking this, if he decides to stand and trade or do that annoying jumping around and waving of the hands that he does which will only score him points in a dancing competition, then he will definately lose. I see this fight being better than the majority think, and I could easily see being an upset by descision. I really do not expect Rashad to stand there and let his face get smashed like Silva did.
