Denis Kang finds victory at Spirit Martial Challenge 18 'The Champion'

Who says you can't go home again?
Denis Kang returned to Spirit Martial Challenge last night for its eighteenth outing at the Jang Chung Gymnasium in Seoul, South Korea to defend his Spirit MC middleweight title . Dubbed 'The Champion', Kang actually resembled one as he survived an early scare and eventually disposed of Jae Young Kim in their third (and hopefully final) meeting.
Kang is now 3-0 against the Team Tackle slugger and has snapped a two-fight losing streak that dates back to his bout at K-1 Heroes 2007 when he was knocked senseless by Yoshihiro Akiyama.
At one point Kang had gone 23 straight fights without a loss, including a stunning knockout of Murilo "Ninja" Rua just fifteen seconds into their bout at PRIDE 'Bushido 11'.
But lately Kang has looked a little flat, going 1-3 prior to the Kim bout. Now a return to his old stomping grounds and an impressive win will hopefully get him back to his winning ways. Kang is set to face former UFC light heavyweight Marvin "The Beastman" Eastman at RAW Combat in October.
Check out the replay of Denis Kang versus Jae Young Kim after the jump.
Here are the complete results for Spirit MC 18 "The Champion":

I just watched an interesting interview with Shogun.
Would he ever fight Anderson, Wanderlei, Machida?
Shogun said the only one he would never fight is wanderlei
What he thought about the Rampage/Forrest fight?
Either fighter could have been given the win but if he had to choose he would say Forrest
His rehab?
He is already jumping and running again
transition to the UFC?
Rule changes dont bother him because he fought twice for PRIDE in Vegas under American rules. Only difference he needs to get used to is the size of the cage. Its much bigger then a ring.
Hardest fought fight?
Nog
Biggest win?
arona

UFC needs to loosen its grip on fighters. Dennis Kang woiuld be fighting in the UFC if it werent for those ridiculous exclusive contracts. Who cares if Kang fought in some rinky dink Korean organization? International stars like Kang and Fedor need to be able to participate in small events that take place in their countries. These fighters cant simply just turn their backs on their nations and come fight exclusively in the UFC. If the UFC wants them exclusively then they should produce events in the countries. If the UFC were to tell Kang and Fedor that they will have a UFC event in Korea and Russia, I am sure a deal could be worked out. Until the shows happen, the UFC shouldnt be able to ban international stars from competing in their home countries.
If I were the UFC I would compromise and make contracts exclusive only in the USA and England. So that UFC fighters could not fight for the UFC’s direct competitors: Affliction and EliteXC. Even if Kang would have lost last night, would anyone even care? that fight will be forgotten in 2 weeks.

i would be kinda bummed if he lost to a nobody cuz after all that hype about him being one of the best under carlson gracie and training at american top factory, and that Fedor-ish like win streak, it would suck if he just disappeard. this is exactly the kind of win he needs at this point of his career. he’s a beast when he’s confident & aggressive! he has all the tools to be a champ. i hope he gets back in the mix and was looking for him in the DREAM MW GP. but if he’s not fighting contenders, i’m glad he’s busy making highlight reels like this!!

Really. I think all of us on here could beat up some 5’8" fat guy. Kang is getting far less impressive with every fight.

Yeah that stomp was ruthless at the end. An exclamation mark for his First Win in a while. Lets hope he goes back to his winning ways and starts fighting some realy comp again…

Wow, he fought a guy he had already beat twice, and now Marvin Eastman? Talk about fighting the cream of the crop.

Kang would be a mid-level fighter in the UFC, at best. Knocking out (with a classy stomp at the end) someone literally shaped like a tomato can isn’t that impressive. Does anyone really think he could hang with Marquardt, Okami, even Cote, let alone Silva?
