UFC Quick Quote: Anderson Silva vs Chuck Liddell?

"At the end of the day, this is a business, and [the UFC] needs to sell fights. They need to sell a lot of pay-per-views, and they need to sell tickets. So, we want to be involved with those types of fights. We’re not looking past Patrick Cote, but I think we’ll take one step at a time and see what happens. But yeah, if a Chuck Liddell fight came up, we’d take it. Whoever the UFC wants to put in front of us, he wants to fight the best, and whoever that may be at the time, that’s who he wants to fight."
-- Ed Soares, manager of UFC middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva, makes it clear via MMA Weekly that "The Spider" is not content to just rest on his laurels and will continue to hunt down the best fighters in the world - including UFC icon Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell. Megafight? Don't expect to see that one on Spike TV.

Now, THAT’S what I’m talking about! Can you guys imagine how many PPV’s that would sell? Possibility of fight of the year in this one. I’m torn between who I think would win, but I’d go with Silva I guess.

This is a DREAM fight! Its a pleasure to watch a TRUE fighter like silva who constantly wants to test himself against the best that the sport has to offer. He could easily just keep destroying Middleweights and go down as the greatest middleweight EVER, but in between title defenses, he takes on other challengers! Its an HOnor to witness his greatness!
Much Respect to the spider. By the way, he would kNock Chuck the F out!

Yeah.. Chuck has problems with good strikers.. He could TKo the shit our wrestlers..but good MMA strikers in recently has been a pain for Chuck.. He does not want a Silva or a Machida in the Octagon with him.

Wanderlei is a good striker, maybe not technically, but Chuck did fine with him. I think it would be a very hard fight to pick a winner….think about it, back when Chuck was dominating 205, would you have so easily said that A. Silva would knock Chuck out? I dont think so….I would have to pick Silva to win since he is younger faster, and more technical, but I would give Chuck a better chance than anyone else has had against Silva so far. Chuck is pushing 38 and hes lived a lot if you know what I mean….of course he would be expected to lose, but all it takes is one or maybe a couple of nicely landed shots. I bet if this fight ever happened Chuck would look to take Silva down and use his size to work a little GnP.

Even if Chuck was 32 yrs old and Silva 32 yrs old.. my bet will be Silva. I picked Rampage to beat Chuck for the LHW UFC Strap. Wandy.. um.. that was Wandy’s first fight in the in Ages.. and Wandy really tried to d otoo much to impress the american public.. Both were like. .This will be a stand battle. shit.. I saw Chuck going for 2 double leg takedowns.. I’ve never seen till then.. Chuck take anyone down. I’m all for him improving and opening up his game.. but no matter if he is or not in his prime and Silva is going through his prime.. if the best Chuck Liddlel would fight the best Anderson Silva..Chuck just may come out the first round.. by the second he would be out cold.. IMO.

Phil: I agree! Chuck has NEVER faced anyone witrh the sharp tools that Silva possesses. Silva’s dancing footwork will make Chuck’s look like a basic electric slide. lol
I really dont think Chuck could ever beat Anderson Silva. Not now that Silva is in his super Prime, thats for sure!
But I would still love to see this fight!
2 great strikers with great chins banging it out….I wont complain!

Silva takes this fight 9 times out of 10. And no way would the betting lines for this fight be that steep. Right now, Anderson simply can not be beat.
However, I find it quite pointless to even talk about this fight. In order for this fight to actually happen, Chuck would have to lose a fight before fighting Anderson. After he fights and defeats Rashad, he will get a title shot against Forrest. If Chuck loses, then he could fight Anderson but who would want to see that after he just lost to Forrest? Or if he beats Forrest and becomes Champ, there are a few fighters out there that deserve a title shot. For example, if Rampage wins his next fight against Shogun or Wanderlei then he’ll probably fight Chuck. With the stacked LHW division, there is always a challenger to the belt. WHen is the winner of Machida/Thiago SIlva going to be in the real picture???
What is the ideal scenario for this fight to go down?
What if BJ beats GSP and then Anderson becomes MW and LHW champ? Then the UFC has 5 weight clases and only 3 champs. And we are all upset that we only get two more title defendes between now and the end of the year – which is just RIDICULUOUS. Never mind the fact that they are two very lopsided matchups. If there were only 3 champs can you imagine how few title fights we’d get to see? We’d be lucky to see 4 a year.

John/Phil, I think the reason the Wandy fight went Chuck’s way is b/c Chuck is a counter-striker. Wandy played right into it. The way Chuck hangs back and Anderson likes to hang back the first couple minutes, I could actually see boo’s in the first half of the first round. After that, I think Chuck may do a great job staying out of the clinch. Ultimately, Anderson will come in for the kill and chuck will either land a counter bomb or go down from the attack. My guess is Chuck goes down, but I think he could make it to the 2nd.
by Punch You in the Ovaries on Aug 25, 2008 10:35 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
boos in a chuck or anderson fight? don’t see it happening. chuck has too many fans and the spider never gets booed (unless he’s fighting rich lol). I still take wandy over chuck in a rematch, specially if it’s a fiver rounder if chuck gets his belt back.
by linx on Aug 25, 2008 10:42 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Linx: I agree that Wandy will probably beat Chuck the next time around. Chuck fought one of his best fights against wandy. He even went for those BS takedowns! I love the ground game, but if you are just going to take someone down, and DO NOTHING with it, then why should you get points. I think it showed that Wandy hadn’t fought in the octagon and under these rules in a while against Chuck. When he rocked chuck and KO him, had that been a PRIDE fight, Wandy would have rushed in with a soccer kick harder than Ronaldhino’s and BLASTED chuck. Instead he knocked chuck down and FROZE! That will never happen again. Now that Wandy is getting comfortable he is going to be very tough to beat, and I would take him in a re-match over Liddell for sure!

John, I’m with you on Forrest not defending until at least Spring. You must have put it in another thread too because I replied to it.
All of their PPV main event are booked through the end of January. So at the EARLIEST it would be in February.

I agree John, I’m not trying to take anything away from chuck’s win over wandy, but it was wandy’s first fight inside the octagon in over 10 years with new rules to deal with, new atmosphere, new everything. he didn’t even use his knees! He’s getting more comfortable inside the cage and a second fight I just see wandy taking it.

Linx: Staggerd is basically like drugged, or hurt. " How many times was Wandu hurt/drugged/staggerd in that fight.
DBG: I don’t question Chuck did have Wandy hurt and few times.. but in the second round Wandy caught Chuck.. (even thought Joe said it was a slip.. Wandy caught Chuck..and Chuck fell ) No questions in my mindthat Chuck won.. but he did not destroy Wany.. to me it was pretty close.. Till Chuck locked up the 3rd round.

agreed about Wanderlei freezing when CHuck slipped and fell the first time and again when he knocked Chuck on his butt the 2nd time…Look how fast Wanderlei swarmed Jardine in their fight when Jardine wnet down…But I think Wandy is not an idiot and he knew that Chuck hits just as hard if not harder than he does so he didnt want to rush in on Chuck like a crazed maniac…thats why he looked slow in their fight.

I think that when chuck hit his ass the second time it was because footing,go back and watch it again his feet were planted akward, i don’t think it rocked him or was even that good of a punch. I think it was more of a he was off balance and got hit.Phil your a fighter right. I’m sure you know a little bit about that.I know i do happened to me Plenty of times.

maybe if he wasn’t in the hospital the day before with a fever, he could have had a better game against hendo. what else? are you also going to mention the KO he got from cro cop? so what?
None of those losses are any worse than the one chuck received from rampage in Pride anyways LOL.

yeah wandi totally takes it in a rematch, hell if that fight had been a five rounder i would say wandi by ko late in the fourth, chuck couldn’t even stand up straight by the end of the third…when chuck wants to lay and pray it’s a good bet that his wad is blown. he definitely won the fight but had it gone longer i think wandi would have caught him with one of those windmill hooks, that’s just my opinion, fact is no one knows what would have happened, but i do know i want a rematch and i take wandi

You know what guys, you don’t really need to debate on this fight as to who’s gonna win or what not. We just have to wait and see if this fight materializes in the first place. Then wait for the results. All we could do for now is predict. Debates are pointless if it’s a “dream match-up…”

what a gamer. I’ve said this is the fight that I’m waiting to see!! I’ve heard grumblings of this. This is a better fight than giing chck an automatic title shot for beating rasad. But…give him the title, then in the spring we can see the first ever 2 weight champion. Anderson will beat chuck!!!!!!

And i ‘m not trying to be a dick but if wandi is going through his prime right now his prime sucks.1 win for his last 4. I’m not arguing he is very talented and a great fighter. and i do see him getting to be lhw champ again but not against Liddell. I think if there is a second fight it turs out just like the first.

Two great counter punchers. It’s hard to determine a winner really. Chuck has great wrestling as well which is Silva’s weakness. It could go either way really.

Jardine beat Chuck. I really don’t think Anderson would have a problem here; he KO’s Liddell in the 1st round, easy. I still love Chuck though; but this is the saddeth but truest of truthes.
by hbdale309 on Aug 25, 2008 4:22 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think if Chuck fights Anderson the way he fought Wanderlei, it could be a damn good fight. If he comes out as the one dimensional fighter that lost to Rampage the second time, then Jardine, he will lose.
And to those saying you haven’t seen Chuck take anyone down, watch Chuck vs Overeem. He was getting tagged, took Overeem down, kneed the shit out of him, and was able to get the KO later. A more well rounded Chuck who can put the fight on the mat if he gets in trouble could give Anderson some problems. He also has a punching power advantage.
All that said, Anderson is just too technical, and too accurate. I see him picking Chuck apart on the feet if this fight goes down.
by yohnstoppable on Aug 25, 2008 5:04 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
You would have the UFC’s most popular fighter vs the UFC’s best fighter….. = record breaking ppv buy..
But unfortunatly for us, Chuck will most likely defeat Rashad, and then imo- he will get a title shot…I also think Chuck will end up champ agian, beating Forrest…And Anderson has already made it known that he does not wish to hold the LHW strap, for he want’s Machida to claim that title…It is a long prediction, but thats just the way I see it..So, all in all, I dont see this fight happening any time soon(imo)…
It’s all good though..The LHW division is deep, and im sure we will see Anderson fight a higher caliber LHW fighter then the “sandman” in his next fight at 205…
by Stagger-Lee on Aug 25, 2008 8:16 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yep, agree, Chuck will blast Rashad I think without any probs. I do think Forrest has a good chance against Chuck though he’s VERY big for 205lbs and could keep Chuck at bay with reach. Also I think Forrest is much better on the ground than Chuck and if he can handle Chuck’s sprawl could well cause damage even possibly submit from there.
As for Anderson, I honestly think he’ll destroy either Chuck or Forrest without many problems. The guy’s so versatile and hits very hard with punches, kicks, knees, elbows the lot. The man is just a beast. Can’t see anyone at 185 OR 205 taking him out just yet.
by MrAngry on Aug 25, 2008 9:11 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I’m really starting to think Forrest is going to be Liddell now. Especially after he made Rampage limp so bad with those leg kicks. I’m pretty much done counting Forrest out of any fight.
by Toms Bombs on Aug 25, 2008 9:26 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Dont do that, hel start losing! even tho he his champ i really do think forest is massively underrated. he is a very well rounded fighter with an iron will, he is also a very intelligent fighter, and comes up with great game plans, he does train with randy tho, the master of the game plan.
by GNP on Aug 25, 2008 9:39 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Me too. Im never counting him out. As for Silva, dominating Chuck and Forrest… I dont see a domination. I think any of those possible fights could go either way. I dont think anyone in the UFC can hit as hard as Chucky, with the technique he brings. Anyone that gets caught by him will hit the canvas, but that can be said for everyone that has gotten caught by Silva as well. It really is a toss up for me. Forrest leg kicks are serious business too. He almost took Pages leg right off. ;)
by enzo-enormous on Aug 25, 2008 9:39 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I dontthink Forrest will even defend his title until the spring! I have nothing to back that statment up, but to me it seems like 1sttime title winners like to hold on to the belt a little longer then usual before even defending it!
Unfortunately, I wouldnt be surprised to see Forrest “on the shelf” until spring!
Lets hope that I am wrong about that one!
by john on Aug 25, 2008 9:52 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Seeing that the UFC has all thier Main Events set from now through the end of January, I’m going to have to believe so as well. Dana wants Forrest to be able to hold onto that belt for as long as possible, or unti Chuck can win it back. I don’t care what anyone says, but Dana REALLY prefers Chuck or Forrest as champ instead of Machida or Thiago Silva.
Forrest vs Machida would be a very interesting fight. Forrest with his stick and move AND reach advantage may actually prove to be tricky for Machida to figure out….. at first.
by ViolentMike on Aug 25, 2008 10:41 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Hopefully, I am wrong and we at least see Forrest back in Febuary. I wouldnt hold my breath. I see Forrest going the Matt SErra route and waiting a while before even defending it!

VM: the title picture at 205 gets tricky because the winner of Tiago vs. machida has been promised a title shot (according to THiago). Dana needs to do the right thing and give the winner of that fight a title shot, if not he will have 1 angry Brazilian Monster on his hands!

Nothing here to prove for Liddell – big waste of time – he’d murder silva like he was in the showers in pen. Liddell has already got his career mapped out – evans – jardine – griffin – Rampage – retire. – but id like to see him back up his Fedor talk in there somewhere.

john – u think you know it all! chuck said it – not me ! get real? wake up ?
Chucks a legend – he has a much higher chance to beat any fighter out there than silva ‘your bum boy’ does. Silva would go down like a log on in a toilet to some one like Overeem or V.Silva – the iceman dealt with that shit. Chuck can be matched up against anyone. BJ, GSP, Silva, Machida, Sylvia, Randy (mashed him up) and even fedor – but we cant say the same for silva because there would be too many excuses – mainly from you, about fedor is too big, heavy or whatever.
Silva walks at HW, not LHW – so why doesnt he man up and skip LHW and go straight for the big guns? simple answer – hed get crushed like a boy against a man.

LOLOL, is this boy serious???
Fighting Anderson Silva would NOT be a waste of time for Chuck. It would actually be a waste of a career because Anderson has a better chance of seriously huring Chuck and forcing him into retirement than, Chuck has a chance at beating Anderson. I would give Chuck about a 15% chance at winning that fight. Anderson wins at least 4 out of 5 times, if not 10 out of 10. And why does the MW champ have to fight at HW now???? One weight class at a time buddy. If two weight classes is not big deal, why doesnt Chuck cut wieght and fight at WW, or heck, even MW? Your love for Chuck is really clouding your judgement.
And you, especially being a Chuck fan, think you have Chuck’s career all mapped out, now do ya? NEWS FLASH PAL, if Chuck beats Rashad, he gets a title shot. Why would he fight Jardine? Do you have inside sources that is telling you that Forrest is fightin Jardine at UFC 89 and that Forrest will win?
Chuck is going to be in the UFC for the rest of his career. Fedor will not fight in the UFC. You dream too much.
Who is Victor Silva? I don’t know of any good fighters named V.Silva?
Then you say:
“Chuck can be matched up against anyone. BJ, GSP, Silva, Machida, Sylvia, Randy (mashed him up) and even fedor – but we cant say the same for silva because there would be too many excuses – mainly from you, about fedor is too big, heavy or whatever. "
Again, when is Chuck dropping down to WW and now LW to take these fights you speak of? It looks to me like you were trying to list the best fighter of each division, and you name TIM SYLVIA? What is wrong with you? LOLOL. That, for the 8th time or so, proves that your claims/posts can not be taken seriously.
If either one of Chuck or Anderson can move around wieght classes, it would be Anderson. Chuck can only increase his alcohol intake and fight at HW. However, Anderson Silva has already proven that he can fight at MW and LHW. Anderson would even consider dropping below 185 in a catch weight to fight GSP if need be. Lets see Chuck drop a wiegh class.
About 99.9% of fighters fight below their walking around wieght.

How Does Anderson Silva"s Nut sac Taste Cause everyone on this site pretty much is hanging on to it pretty tight. Come on no one remembers right before he came to the ufc there was a poll (who will be the first ufc champ to lose his belt 90 Percent said franklin)then when it happened everyone started the talk anderson is the best pound for pound in the world. Then He beat travis luter Witch again Is,nt a A fighter and reall to me. (my Opinion did’t impress me). Then Nate Marquaradt,A little better but again no reason to say he is the best in the world. Then Rich again Still not impressed. Then the Dan Henderson Fight Witch finally he was fighting a A list fighter and again did not impress lost round one,and caught dan, I don’t know if it’s beacause the middle weight in the ufc just dosent impress me or if it is cause everyone is sucking at the teat of the spider. Just again in my point of view not the baddest man on the planet. and i would love to see Anderson fight Dan again

DBG: Dan has to fight his way back up to another shot..I kind of feel for the guy.. he cmose back to the UFC since leaving in 1998.. to fight 2 Champions.. that is why I feel bad for my Brazilian Brother Rousimar.. I would not want to fight a Dan Henderson after 2 losses.. Nah.
But If me being Brazilian sheds a bit of Bias on mypart so be it.. but it’s a clear cut issue we have currently with the MW and LW division. The Champion BJ Penn and Anderson Silva are light years ahead of the pack.. they make their divisions look weak.. when they’re not. maybethey should jsut come up wit ha 1# Contender’s Belt for he LW’s and MW’s. On a business side this can not be good. We look at a Silva/Cote fight.. and make bets on how long Cote will last with Silva.. not if he can beat.. the same with BJ.. at 155 who could be him.?? I can not think of anyone.. that is why we have these Mega fight talks a bit more nowadays.. I am a DIEHARD Silva fan and hope never loses..and reites Champ. I speak as his Fan. And with BJ. I hope comes and brings his top game day in and day out.. cuz he is soooo gifted.. but is it good that there is such a gap between the Champ and pack??? It’s up for debate…

I understand that hendo has to fight his way back,i really do all i was saying is it wasn’t like silva murdered hendo, and i think (own personal opinion that hendo beats silva next if the fight ever happens). and i do not Question that bj is light years ahead of most in mma you will never hear me say im not impressed with bj.All i’m saying is if and when silva loses again ,will everybody still think he is number one in the world or will he be in the same light a chuck where everyone loved him thought he was god’s gift and when he lost, people say he needs to retire, hell when he wins people don’t give it to him(Wandi fight, saying next time oh next time) all im sayin is Anderson isn’t this God everyone has made him out to be.Hope I’m not pissing any one off that’s not what i’m trying to do,just putting my two cents in i guess

I get your point DBG.. the way I see it is.. the some what answer your question is.. " if when Silva loses again..how does he lose ".. Chuck got dropped before even breaking asweat against Rampage2.. and then went 3rounds with at a time most of us thought he was goingto knock Jardine’s head into outerspace..I was a big Silva fan..before he had his title. Chuck.. is a one trick pony.. but he is REALLY good at the one trick.. Sprawl and Brawl.. bait and counter punch.. that is palce a fighter does not want to be in with the ICeman.. but when it doesn’t work for him.. he doesn’t adapt his game.. he kind of forces the issue.. from what I’ve seen. Silva is not a God.. Fedor is not a God.. BJ is not.. the are men..that bleed and feel pain like we all do.. but the a are special fighter’s in their own rite.. not often do we get to an Anderson Silva/ Fedor / BJ Penn.

PhilQNY: A.Silva? …because he simply doesnt impress me. I like the way is so technical and precise, but thats about it. IMO he hasnt been tested. He walks at 215(HW) so at least he should cut and stay at LHW. Thats when he will fight real competition, until then, hes just fighting fights he knows he can win without too much trouble.

Anderson Silva is absoluety brilliant fighter… but I see chuck taking this one.. It will have to stay on the feet (so Silva’s BJJ would be useless) and I think Chuck would be too big for him… He beat Wandi on the feet and I reckon Wandi is stronger than Anderson…
Someone at 205 will knock Silva out pretty soon… but he’ll retain the 185 belt for a long time… I can’t see BJ or GSP coming up and beating him either!
by DanP on Aug 25, 2008 8:48 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I read somewhere that Chuck admires Anderson Silva and that he is currently one of hos favorite fighters to watch as a fan….when asked about how he matches up with Silva he said he thinks Silva is a great fighter, but that he “might be a little too much for him.” It makes me mad that they have Chuck fighting TUF contenders….I would much rather see him against opponents like Thiago, Machida, Henderson, Shogun…I mean I know he lost to Jardine, a TUF loser, but lets face it 9 out 10 times he wins that fight. I just think Chuck’s days are numbered and I dont want to see his last fights be against Rashad, Forrest, and ??? I hope Chuck doesnt lose to Rashad otherwise his career will be ruined.
by Chadx23 on Aug 25, 2008 9:32 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
unfortunately chad, chuck already said he’s not interest in a fight with anderson (I’m not surprised), but in his defense, he said it’s because he wants to have the belt again. so I guess this fight is not going to happen anytime soon. If it does, I’m taking the spider to win and KO chuck! but if chucky has it his way, he’ll fight rashad (from tuf) and then griffin (from tuf) to get the belt again. He’s the one asking for tuf fighters… and what chuck wants chuck gets… (unfortunately).

by DBG on Aug 25, 2008 12:05 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
who said anything about chucky being at fault? DBG, you should take some cla$$es about reading, you don’t seem to know how to interpret someone’s post. I’m not faulting Chuck about wanting the belt, only that he shouldn’t be fighting rashad of all ppl in order to be a challenger for the belt.
instead of fighting someone who got owned by tito, fight someone who actually beat tito (machida). but no, he does not want that, he wants someone from tuf, he wants rashad. and what chuck wants chuck gets, that’s all I’m saying. I’m not saying anything about forrest :?

Out of curiousity, was Chuck one of the guys (Forrest and I can’t remember who else) who said that they wanted no part of Machida? Simply b/c they couldn’t find anyone who fights his style, thus making extremely difficult to prepare for? Help me out a little, my memory is like a sieve today.

who fights his style (for a sparring partner). sorry
by chefdaddy on Aug 25, 2008 2:40 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
chef, it was actually his coach who said that (chuck’s coach), that machida was just too tough to train for and that they didn’t want a fight with him for now. (you’re right about forrest though, he said he wants no part of machida).
Besides those two, I can’t think of anybody else rejecting the idea of fighting machida. I should also mention that both chuck and forrest said they wouldn’t want to face him now because he’s just too hard to train for, not that he’s a track runner as some ppl try to say lol.

Personally, I’d love to see BJ fight Anderson…
BJ doesn’t get Ko’d (atleast, as far as I know, he’s never been Ko’d)…he’d give Anderson fits. IMO, Anderson would kill GSP. Funny, cause I’m picking GSP to defeat Penn – styles make matchups…
Chuck and Anderson wold be entertaining – can’t pick a clear winner if this fight ever happened.

I think Chuck takes this one, if it happens, and if they are both champs at he time, they could just have a catch weight where there are no belts on the line. I don’t think it being a non-title fight would kill the PPV sales that much

This could* be the highest selling MMA PPV to date. If they [UFC] can put fights like this and Penn vs GSP together more often, Affliction will have a hard time keeping up. Affliction’s really big payday would come with the Coutre/Fedor fight. Although, that’s probably not going to happen, (with Affliction that is). Not to mention, if the fans keep geting fights like this, the Fedor vs Coutre mystique may have come and gone.
*Liddell & Silva both win thier next fight. (pretty safe bet they will IMO)

Chuck is gonna take out rashad evans, then battle forrest for his title back, then hopefully by then silva makes a jump back up to LH, and fights hopefully a top contender. Being a chuck fan i would say chuck has a 10% chance of “catching him” I see silva knocking him out in the first round and takking the title, while still holding on to the MW title. But to me it doesn’t matter chuck will deffinatly be in hte hall of fame and go down as a legend in the sport. I just want to see liddell fight for the title one last time..

chuck never got caught by wanderlei. the first was a slip and the second was a slip. if you look at that frame you can see while he was throwing that right hand if you look at his feet you can see that when he was moving away, one of his feet stepped into the fence causing him to losing footing. you honestly think if silva caught him with that punch, chuck would of been able to get up so quickly. if he did then silva has a weak ass right.

I don’t think Silva has the striking power to put Liddell away. But anything can happen, this is a hard fight to call for many reasons. Chuck has the superior wrestling and take down defense, and better strikes and hands. Silva would dominate Chuck on the ground but I don’t think he can keep him there, Couture couldn’t keep him on the ground. Also Silva’s clinch game is vastly superior and his uncanny ability to adjust to his opponents is very technical and smart. Everyone has a punchers chance though..I can see this fight going the distance unanimous decision both ways.

and if this keeps on going they will just have one weight division at the end of the day.
and isnt anderson fighting coté?
and Chuck fighting evans?
anyways, i would like to see people behave after spider lost one. he willpropably get same treatment as chuck is getting now. “ow ow the mighty couture can take chuck easy” hmmmm, “Tito will be victorious the second time they fight” hmmmm, “Chuck is overrated, Wandi will own him in this fight” ?,
i love both fighter very very much, they are awesome but this isnt the olympics, this is MMA. one punch can kill a man’s Rep and career with him STILL fighting. “critics and fans” are killing chucks career by doubting him over and over again. this same thing will happen if Spider loses one. i can expect thinsg like “Spider will never lose” but im in the mma world a pretty long time and they said the same about chuck back in the day, same about rampage a few months ago etc etc.
another note: (forgot to who while writing this)
Overated fighters are fighters that get Cans “outgassed legends from back in the day” cough elitexc cough that wont be intresting after a while. and promotions that dont care about their divisions anymore to get better rates and the cash cough Ufc Cough
almost looks like whats happening to hiphop. so i say forget about the pride days and enjoy the ride cos its going to be a bumpy one for “the world of mma”
back to the fight
“Double KO in first 3 secs” earning KO of the night, Fight of teh year and both get fastest Ko in Ufc history and we can go on with our little mma lives ;)

This fight would be ossom, no doubt its a toss up!! for one I truly beleive chuck will be one of the hardest match ups for anderson as his footwork and raw power would cause anyone problems!! the only real problem for liddell is that he has been easier to hit in his last few fights and anderson is somebody you dont want hit from!! All the same anderson is open to the counter striking style of liddell and if chuck lands, its power anderson hasnt dealt with, wel know for sure just how good anderson is after this fight!!
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat fight and hope it happens, mon the ICEMAN!!!
Still cant believe the doubters out there who are saying wandi woould beat chuck in a rematch, its actually funny how disrespectful people are to liddell, he completely demolished wandi!!

Once upon a time I’d have thought that it would be anyone’s match, maybe a slight advantage to Chuck. After seeing Spider’s size and speed at LHW, I think that he’d be able to handle pretty much anyone in that weight class. He might not win every time, but he’d handle himself fine and win the majority of the time. People here talk about his precision and his technical ability, but people don’t talk about his defense. It’s impossible to get anything through to him. Like he’s got a shield. Even when Dan took Round one, what did he do on the ground? Nothing. Look at the war Dan took to Rampage??!! And he couldn’t do a damned thing to Silva.
Then look at his instincts combined with his accuracy. Not only is everything right on the money, but his timing and decisions are nearly impossible to predict. You don’t know if you’re getting an inverted elbow, a flying knee, a straight right, a straight leg kick, or whatever. That’s what thrills me about the guy, I just don’t know what he’s going to do and it flies out of him with so much ease and speed and power. He floats around like a fighting poem. A fighting haiku. Efficient and beautiful and effective all in one package.
And BTW, whether or not Chuck has more power than Silva is completely up for debate. Leben has one of the hardest heads in the sport, as does Hendo, and both of them went to sleep quickly.
by dave on Aug 26, 2008 12:19 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
henderson got choked out not knocked out!! Leben may have the one of the hardest heads, but its also one of the easiest to hit!! He said he likes to brawl a boxer, well anderson mauled a brawler as will bisping IMO!!
further i think franklin landed some decent blows in there second fight all be it he was KTFO in the end, so no way is anderson un-hittable!! He may have looked good at Lh against the sandman, however its a totally different ball game stepping in there with the ICEMAN!! It would be ossom, but not as one sided as many people think, very rarely has anyone dominated Liddell, and i see this being no different!
