I can see hamill taking this one, just because he’s always improving and really if he does take Rich down, its giong to be hard for rich to get back up if hamill takes the mount and grounds and pounds him.. but then again never count rich out(except against Silva lol)

What’s he say, I’m unable to hear him??

Hamill is one step up from a “can” for Franklin. This really is a big jump for Hamill to fight at Franklin’s level. If the dude isn’t carefull in this fight not even will his westling help him when he’on his back geting his face pounded in while on his back.
Can Rich pound Hamill down to 185s?

Honestly, I think Hamill is TRASH! He has the ability to beat many fighters, but to me he is nothing more then a 1 dimensional wrestler. He is a bigger and tougher Tommy Speer. All I hear about is the GREAT wrestling of Hamill but he cant seem to keep people down. Puny lil Bisping kept getting up like he was Liddell! Hamill still leaves his chin out when he over extends to jabs. Not only does he leave his chin out there, but he also keeps the jab out there way too long before bringing it back in. That is a DREAM opening for a technical striker like Franklin to capitalize on. I got Rich knocking Hamil out! Actually, TKO

Man, calling him trash is a little harsh. I think it all depends on what Hamill does. If he trys to stand he is going to get beat up because he isn’t fast and he doesn’t keep his hands up (esp. when he starts tiring out), but he looks to have a pretty good chin. If he actually keeps his dam hands up long enough to make it a wrestling match, then this could be a close match. I’m very interested to see how this match goes. Also to see how Franklin matches up power wise with Hamill at 205. I know there won’t be much size difference, but Franklin is used to being a little bigger than most of his opponents.

Maybe not trash because his chin is impressive, but I basically think that all 1 dimensional wrestlers are Trash!
If you are going to be a pure wrestler in mma at least work the submission game!
by john on Aug 25, 2008 9:58 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I agree, he should, and all wrestler’s should work their submission game..But I think Hammil has decent stand-up..If he keeps it going, he wont be considered a one dimentsional fighter anymore……
I am still interested in this fight, but am pissed that Hendo and Franklin are finally on the same card, but not fighting eachother!..

Its a TRAVESTY to not have Frabnklin vs. Hendo!!!!

you all are in for a rude awakening if you think franklin is gonna kill hamill. for one bisping shouldn’t even have been the victor in his fight with him hamill pounded his ass and bisping is one of the ucf’s bigger fighters with the way they promote him . hamills wrestling is gonna get the better of the striker , and hamill can strike just as well on the feet , franklin is mighty strong tearing thru everyone except anderson silva and hamill shows alot of heart and great skills and i see this being a great fight my prediction , i could see this going the distance , hard to pick a winner they both got good skills .

Hamill beating Rich would be unexpected..
For some reason I think the UFCs dream match would be Franklin vs Liddell at 205 for PPV revenue atleast.
I think Liddell is pushing so hard for a title shot cause he knows Rampage might get locked up, so he can defend the belt a few times, and retire right before Rampage gets out haha.
by DirtyML on Aug 24, 2008 4:17 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
your just thick and plain stupid if you think liddell would duck anyone

“Everyone thought Tim Boetsch was gonna kill me…”
Huh??
I like Matt, sans this quote. He is a wrestler who has tried to make his style more exciting, rather than just LNP. This fight is going to be a good one!

As of course a hardcore Rich Franklin fan this is how I see the fight happening
Matt Hamill works his striking to a takedown and ground and pound with minimal damage and he wins round 1 10-9.
Round 2, Matt Hamill is gassed and starts to get sloppy and Rich stops the takedowns, and starts working his striking game, and then punishes Matt in the 2nd round. 10-9.
Round 3, Matt Hamill is still gassed and still is going for the takedown, gets sloppy and Rich Franklin stops the takedown with a knee rocks Matt Hamill, gets in full mount on a tired sloppy matt Hamill and finishes the fight from Mount.
Winner: Rich Franklin Round 3 Strikes.
But this is a tough fight for Rich, he really has not fought a tough wrestler in the UFC like Hamill, and its 20 pounds above his regular weight class, and Hamill could easily outweigh Franklin by 10-15 pounds come fight night.

I agree with Hamill gasing. Every fight Ive seen him in he gets gased pretty easily! Ill also agree that, maybe in the 3rd round is the finish.

As likable as Rich Franklin is, you just can’t help but pull for Matt Hamill to win, due to the challenges he must have endured to reach this level of competition.
by DrPepper on Aug 24, 2008 6:30 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
challenges? whatever dood, just cuz hes deaf – so what! less distractions IMO – hes just a sloppy mo fo thats gonna get exposed
by Insain on Aug 25, 2008 7:47 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I wish you were deaf AND had no fingers so that way you couldn’t even type such stupidness
by ViolentMike on Aug 25, 2008 4:24 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Hamill will know where his place is in this match up. Franklin isn’t washed up yet and he still seems to have that fire in his eyes. hope he does well at 205. but I’m pretty sure somewhere down the road, Rich will lose again to the division’s top-tier fighters.
by TheNegation on Aug 24, 2008 6:32 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
At least, he’s got respect for Franklin. Either way, I’m really excited to see this fight! I’ll cheer whoever wins this one cuz they’re both good men.

Yeah, both of these guys are nice, respectful guys.
by brac on Aug 24, 2008 11:36 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
And they’re gonna represent MMA well, don’t y’all think eh?
by 123boogie on Aug 24, 2008 6:46 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
That’s too bad for Franklin Anderson Silva is competing at 205
by suck my nutz on Aug 24, 2008 8:09 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I thought that was a one-time deal for Silva at 205?
by 123boogie on Aug 24, 2008 8:40 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Franklin does well against wrestlers and bjj guys, but he loses against good strikers i really don’t think he would beat someone like Cote.. Rashad vs Franklin would be nice after this fight
by RoB on Aug 24, 2008 8:54 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I don’t get where all this hype is for Cote. He is just being fed to Silva because there aren’t a whole lot of guys to still feed to Silva. Franklin would pound Cote back to Canada.
by PEZ on Aug 25, 2008 12:10 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Franlin already sent one Canadian striker on a downward spiral headed to retirment, in David Louisau

I still hope we get to see the long awaited hendo/franklin match-up. thats a fight alot of people have thought of since the old pride vs ufc days. i still dont see how joe silva has’nt already made this happen.
by b.w. on Aug 24, 2008 9:35 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I agree, I’ve been wanting to see this fight for a long time and they could fight at 185 or 205. I do think that Hendo would take it though.
by brac on Aug 24, 2008 11:38 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Just remember, Rich won’t be as strong and dominate at 205 the way he was at 185 (before Anderson Silva). I think Matt Hamill will give Rich Frankin alot of problems and will win.

Matt is going to be way to strong for Rich he will get pounded in this fight bad.

I’m a huge Ace fan, but, this is not going to be as easy as some people think! I have to go 50/50 on this one! Matt has improved alot since he got ripped off in the Bisping Scam!

Franklin all the way. Matt is not ready to take on somebody of Franklin’s caliber. Matt has cardio issues and Franklin will outwork him.
by San Jose Rob on Aug 25, 2008 5:26 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Good point Rob! Matt better get a hold of his cardio to stand a chance.
