Im gonna go ahead and pick Rashad to win this fight. Dude has underrated stand up and great wrestling.
Evans by decision!

LMFAO! So there’s someone other than me. I think Chuck wins this fight 999 times out of a 1000, but hey, I said WTF, and picked him for an upset. JRV you DO realize we are going to get ridiculed to death for this one!?

Picked Rashad, that is! haha, man, sometimes…..I don’t know why I did this.

Third man in…I think Rashad takes this…Chuck not scoring knock outs in over a year is a sign of his departure from the elite. Wandy was the perfect fight for Chuck to look good in…Wandy was standing right in front him with no movement…Rashad is going to do the opposite and pull it off. More exciting fights if Chuck wins but don’t think it’s going to happen.

Er are you guys drunk… this is the easiest fight to pick that i can remember.
No way can Rashad take Chuck down and no Rashads standup is not good. Its just a matter of time before Chuck lands with a big shot and no-one in the UFC follows up a power shot like chuck.
Easiest prediction ever, Chuck by TKO probably in the 2nd.

I think people are deluding themselves if they really think Chuck (who I love by the way) has a chance against Rashad. Chuck has slowed down too much, he only looked good against Wandy because he just stood there and let chuck throw punches (and still couldn’t knock him out).
Rashad’s “draw” against Tito windbag Ortiz was a joke. This guy has beaten everyone he’s fought and done it convincingly. Evans is for real, and when he breaks Chuck in half in the 1st round, people will finally start to notice it.

I’m not sure why I’m picking Rashad. Maybe cuz the underdog has to win sometimes, maybe I just wanted to be one of the few to pick him, maybe I wanted to put most of the people on this site’s panties all in a bunch. I do think Rashad is better than everyone gives him credit for, simply b/c he tends to have a rather boring style. But he hasn’t been finished that I know of, then again he hasn’t faced a striker of Liddell’s stature yet.
by chefdaddy on Aug 23, 2008 11:57 AM EDT up reply actions
lol… evans couldnt beat tito, he couldnt beat bisping, what on earth makes u think hes going to beat lidell? i wish i had whatever drugs u guys are on… nick j said it: easiest prediction ever, i cant believe lidell is only -280 thats a lock!!!
by brendan on Aug 24, 2008 1:54 AM EDT up reply actions
So if chuck wins he gets title shot. Why? what is his record like the past few fights???? who thinks he deserves a title shot if he wins? i hope none of you disagree as i wont take you seriously lol…
by blah on Aug 23, 2008 2:52 PM EDT up reply actions
theres a fair bit of doubt surrounding this now as we get closer, however I feel the Iceman will be pumped for this one and although i do think rashad is being under-rated, Liddell’s loss to Jardine could be crucial here as he doesnt often make the same mistake twice!!! Liddell by KO!!!! Ya feel me!

i have to go with chucky and rich, there both on there way back to the top
by eric_the_truth on Aug 22, 2008 11:16 PM EDT reply actions
Evans is getting dropped like a bad habit. IMO he will buckle at the first hard punch landed and Ice man goes on to drink Bud Light.
by riskreturngroup on Aug 22, 2008 11:16 PM EDT reply actions
Rashad has to stick n’ move & kick like the Jardine game plan, then get a few takedowns on chuck. If Rashad can do that, he can eek’ out a win. If Rashad can’t take Chuck down it’s down, it’s Chucks to win. I see Chuck getting the W’

It gets annoying when people say “Rashad should use legs kicks like Jardine did” If you dont know, thats what jardine is good at, kicks, he naturally had the skill. Unless Rashad improved, I dont see him winning this, he wont be able to take down Chuck, and i doubt he will be able to trade with Chuck, no one has really ever tested out Rashads chin, so who knows
A focused Chuck can beat anyone.

Except Rampage..
A focused BJ Penn can beat ANYONE!!!!!!!!!!

Chuck is gonna put Rashad to sleep, he couldn’t finish bisping or tito, no way he’ll come close to chuck…. and i dunno why but i have a feeling that rashad maybe might drop down in weight to the 185.. cuz he is a small 205 like bisping…
by Ricky on Aug 22, 2008 11:21 PM EDT reply actions
ah ricky sorry to steal your thunder, didnt see your post down here…
by brendan on Aug 24, 2008 1:56 AM EDT up reply actions
I believe it, he would be an even better lay and pray at 185

i liked it. i cant wait to see the whole countdown. i hope they have some time for hendo/phallares. im sure they will. just that little bit got me pumped for franklin/hamill. rashad to me always looks better in practice than what he does in the cage. may it will be diffeent this time. did CHUCK look hungover to anyone else? his eyes looked beet red to me. party on chuck!
by b.w. on Aug 23, 2008 12:01 AM EDT reply actions
I noticed that also!!! Like he looked like either hung over or bad allergies…figures, I dont really care as long as he knocks out Rashad Evans…I hate hearing him talk about himself in the 3rd person…
by Chadx23 on Aug 23, 2008 1:18 AM EDT up reply actions
his nose seemed a lil red, id say allergies. but its chuck, so who knows.

when your nose is starting to get red it means that you drink too much alcohol..

Chuck via KO/tko first round at latest 2nd round. Rooting for Hammil to win hopefully he does.

Come on man how do you not like Franklin. Felt sorry for him during that interview, they are so awkward because everyone knows he’s runnig from the spider.
by nick j on Aug 23, 2008 9:16 AM EDT up reply actions
I think Hammil would be a good bet. I hope rich pulls it out, but Hammil is massive and could be trouble. Also, I’d say rashads streak ends here. No one takes Chuck down, and despite rashad’s improved stand up, he is still light years behind chuck.
by Amos on Aug 23, 2008 1:31 AM EDT reply actions
They’re trying really hard to make this fight seem like it could be close. Yes, I believed that Jardine would lose badly when Chuck faced him, and I never saw a Jardine win in the cards. The big unknown in this case is whether Greg Jackson helps Rashad come up with a plan. Chuck learned his lesson against his last Jackson-trained opponent, and I think he’ll be wiser this time out. He’s not going to allow anyone to pick him apart with Muay Thai kicks. And I don’t see Rashad taking Chuck down, or at least keeping him there for more than a few seconds. I just don’t see Rashad winning this fight, though I admire him for taking the fight.

I’m always stoked about the fights after watching UFC Countdown. There were many cards in the past that I was hesitant in purchasing, but after watching Countdown, Dana White sucks $54.95 outta my pockets.
by pUniSHment on Aug 23, 2008 1:58 AM EDT reply actions
i believe evans will take this one! also hoping hamill will come out on top!
by neon on Aug 23, 2008 11:32 AM EDT reply actions
john are you taking the piss with that post?? didnt you say in a previous post that Rashad is going to be dancing around like a fool and then chuck hits him and the fights over! personally i see chuck winning this one by tko in the second, dont know why people are comparing this fight to the silva fight, chuck couldnt finish silva so now he cant finish evans – really, evans has a chin as good as silva, is just as tough as him??
by jslim on Aug 23, 2008 12:22 PM EDT reply actions
there are 2 JOHNS on this site? this is probably a different john than who you are thinking of that made those statments, i believe. ive never heard the real JOHN say that he loves chuck. i could be wrong though.
by b.w. on Aug 23, 2008 1:50 PM EDT up reply actions
I would have to agree with the people on Chuck’s side of this argument. He has a great sprawl and from what I remember about Rashad’s fights they usually seem to be a bit more of the old lay-and-pray technique, note: not saying that he hasn’t had some fights showing a decent stand-up game. Rashad has good wrestling and take downs unfortunately Chuck doesn’t get taken down and he also has a solid wrestling background. Of course I am also one of those fans that is really pulling for Chuck to get back on top so I realize I am biased, but that’s what an opinion is. Chuck by TKO in the first.
The Hammil vs. Franklin fight however is probably one of the hardest for me to take a side in. I really would like to see either of them do well. If forced to pick on bias only – I would rather see Hammil win. He’s a powerful guy and I would like to see him continue to climb the 205 ladder. Really not sure who has this one though.

I SEE ALOT OF PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT HOW CUCK LOOKED BAD RECENTLY BUT RASHAD HAS LOOKED DISMAL IN HIS LAST TWO FIGHTS! I MEAN BISPING WAS NEVER SEEN AS A THREAT BUT IT WAS CLOSE AND TITO WORKED HIM HEAVILY. AS FOR SEAN SALMON HE IS NOT A TOP RANKED FIGHTER HE WAS A SCRUB FOR RASHAD. I SEE THIS BEING A BORING MAIN EVEN TWO SLOW STRIKERS AND SLOW WRESTLERS DOGGIN IT OUT

I’ve come to realize that Chuck has to prove in this fight that he still has what it takes to compete against young blood and that he still has that devastating KO power….he hasn’t KO’d anyone since Randy, and he TKO’d Tito, but he wasnt out. He didn’t KO or TKO Wanderlei which I can let that slide, but he didnt knock him down either. Chuck has been knocked down with a punch in his last 3 fights! Rampage, Jardine, Wanderlei all knocked him down with a punch. I expect Chuck to win, but he needs to convince me (as a die hard Liddell fan) that he still has what it takes….I want to see him come out and dominate this fight and actually finish Rashad within the first 2 rounds.
