surprise indeed. i clicked on to the site and karos mid-section looked much better than in a long while. i mean he was never a cut, buff dude, but his last fight with alves, that boy had some love-handles. should be a great fight if karo is motivated, and he should be. i know he gets made fun of alot (including myself) but a motivated karo is a dangerous fighter. if he wins, i would like to see him fight the winner of hardy/gono.

wow, he is in shape, I hope he gets his ass kicked though. What r you doing up at 230 chef? It’s 1130 here, I’m the only one up, tried to sleep to no avail!

Still looks like he has love handles to me. I really hope yoshida out-Judo’s Karo!
BW: Karo vs. GOno isn’t a bad idea. My boy Gono will not loose to a very tough Hardy!
by john on Aug 23, 2008 10:40 AM EDT up reply actions
JOHN. yeah he’s still got some love handles, they didnt look as jiggly as in the alves fight. i agree, gono will win.

Went to the gym really late and had trouble falling asleep after. I was up half the night!

Great lipo job! Dude looks like he had some work done because I am sure that wasn’t done with hard work on Karo’s part. Overrated – non-finisher!! Send him in with Finch and watch him crumble with a real fighter.

he does look more in shape.. hes usually got some love-handles .. never a six pack.

Hope he comes in good shape or he might just have to move down in weight… he seriously cant keep half assing it and expect to win.

I really hope Karo bounces back with a big win here. He’s a great fighter.
by PP on Aug 23, 2008 12:43 AM EDT reply actions
A great fighter??? Everytime he wins it is always by decision, the guy is not capable of winning a fight by having it stopped. That is good to you?

“Do you know who I am ,, seriously do you know who I am” Karo BURGER KING Parsien will be destroyed,, can’t wait,, he will be hitting a triple whopper after getting his butt handed to him to catch up on lost time ,,,,!
by Qmonster on Aug 23, 2008 12:48 AM EDT reply actions
lol! its gotta suck for karo to have BURGER KING and BUD LITE as your companies main sponsers. hopefully karo’s has learned from his past failures and has checked his ego at the door. i really dont care if he gets his butt kicked or not, i just wanna see a good fight.
by b.w. on Aug 23, 2008 1:29 AM EDT up reply actions
Don’t worry folks, this will be a good fight. As for the love handles, if we see virtually none of those, then the Japanese is gonna get it!
by TheNegation on Aug 23, 2008 2:42 AM EDT up reply actions
Qmonster – Dude, his last name is in the title of this article. ;) Or, you could have typed “Parsnipian-ish” like Reggie Warren Jr. calls him.
As far as whether he wins or loses, hey who knows. Karo is a wild card. It seems like a problem that gifted fighters sometimes have (like BJ). Once they’re motivated, they are excellent. But when they’re not motivated, it’s hit and miss. Here’s hoping he can pick up steam, because I’ve wanted him to get a shot at the title for a long time, just not sure whether that’s ever gonna happen.
by MMACrossfire on Aug 23, 2008 1:38 AM EDT up reply actions
agreed, send that bastard home already. most over rated fighter ever…(self proclaimed)
by bradpittfightclub on Aug 23, 2008 2:54 AM EDT up reply actions
Could you imagine if any other fighter showed in the shape that Karo is in these pictures ,, they would be torn a new a@#hole…he looks like crap compared to the other top tier fighters … I guess i shouldnt compare him to top tier fighters until he actually beats one!
by Qmonster on Aug 23, 2008 12:56 AM EDT reply actions
like serra said “its not a bodybuilding contest”.
by b.w. on Aug 23, 2008 1:35 AM EDT up reply actions
b.w. – You said it. I read a quote — forget where I read it, maybe FIGHT! — were a trainer said something like, “You get these bodybuilder guys who can throw a punch, and they think they can walk in here and become a fighter.” Something like that. You’re exactly right. It takes a number of things, and one of them is not a cut physique. Skill, smarts, and a certain level of giftedness, the later of which Karo certainly has in spades.
by MMACrossfire on Aug 23, 2008 1:41 AM EDT up reply actions
true, not a bodybuilding contest (if it was, Baroni would be a top 10 fighter, lol). Being cut has nothing to do with skill or heart. But it most certainly DOES have something to do with conditioning, and power. If you are naturally strong at any weight, logic goes to say that you’d be stronger and faster if you lost the fat and fought at a lighter weight. Not many guys with lovehandles and pooch can fight too long, you know? If they could, more guys wouldn’t bother with cutting weight.
by chefdaddy on Aug 24, 2008 4:24 PM EDT up reply actions
Maybe it’s me, but I still think he should learn the art of cutting weight and fight at 155.
by chefdaddy on Aug 23, 2008 1:25 AM EDT reply actions
i think his frame is to big for 155. i dont think he could make that cut. like i stated above, he’s never been one of those cut, buff, gsp looking fighters. even in his fight/war with diego, he had a little paunch, but was in excellent condition for that fight, he had to be.
by b.w. on Aug 23, 2008 1:34 AM EDT up reply actions
Your right b.w. Some fighters are unable to get that cut look. There body’s is just unable to do so. Look at BJ Penn and Chuck Liddell. They don’t have a ripped stature like GSP or Sean Sherk, but they are still bada$$ fighters.
by pUniSHment on Aug 23, 2008 1:55 AM EDT up reply actions
those were the 2 names i was just thinking of as well. hell look at fedor!
by b.w. on Aug 23, 2008 2:01 AM EDT up reply actions
I don’t know guys, did you see his last fight? He had lovehandles and a fupa. I believe he would rather not put the effort into cutting down. He is most certainly NOT a big 155’er, but hey, I guess it doesn’t matter which he fights in, he won’t get a title in either LW or WW.
by chefdaddy on Aug 23, 2008 2:21 AM EDT up reply actions
That’s probably true.. He even said that he drinks Pepsi’s during training. I guess he took a page out of Gabe Ruediger’s book.
by pUniSHment on Aug 23, 2008 2:24 AM EDT up reply actions
at 170 he could replace a lot of the weight he carries with muscle without sacrificing speed or endurance. i have no doubt he’s strond, but i’m sure he could be stronger and faster.
by clayton on Aug 23, 2008 1:58 AM EDT up reply actions
I remember how much of an upset was at UFC 46 when GSP beat Karo. Joe Rogan kept saying that “GSP needs to watch himself”, or “Karo’s judo throws are dangerous.” No one knew how big of a star GSP would be one day. But having said that..
WARRR BJ PENNN!!!!
by pUniSHment on Aug 23, 2008 2:03 AM EDT up reply actions
He would be amazing at 155.
To bad he’s fighting in a couple weeks, Karo would be a good fight to welcome BJ back to the WW’s.
by Ro-J on Aug 23, 2008 9:45 AM EDT up reply actions
Karo usually is No Joke
Judo is fun to watch but other than scoring
take downs it isn’t very useful in MMA…
Unless he uses his Judo to setup submissions
I think he’d do better letting the Judo games go…

It’s pretty cHill here. Kinda raining outside though. Do you live in the Philippines?
by pUniSHment on Aug 23, 2008 4:08 AM EDT reply actions
Yep. Born and raised. I assume we have pretty much the same weather because it’s also kinda rainin’ here too. not a good time to be on the beach…We have legions of Bj Penn fans here, but some folks at the office like GSP more. I don’t blame them. GSP is pretty good, but I like what BJ did to Sherk the last time. He took him to a boxing clinic and it’s the first time I think that I saw BJ do that!…Anyway, like what you’ve said on this one, WAAAAARRRR PEEEEENNNNNNNNN!!!!
by TheNegation on Aug 23, 2008 4:23 AM EDT up reply actions
Boxing clinic? Come on. Pudge Penn only jabbed the hell out of a midget. Sherk has like 48’ reach. BJ is going to be beaten to a bloody pulp, and GSP will continue moving up the P4P rankings while BJ goes back to LW to fight a bunch of people he isn’t even interested in fighting.
by jay on Aug 23, 2008 11:03 AM EDT up reply actions
48" sorry. 48 feet would be something to see though.

by NameNotRequired on Aug 23, 2008 2:01 PM EDT reply actions
upset? i see him winning by outworking karo
its pretty hard to outwork an asian athlete those guys all train hard and come in to fight at least all the ones i ever seen, karo needs to get some pride and lose the ego
by randy murders on Aug 24, 2008 11:59 AM EDT up reply actions
Karo only lost 2 of his last 10. Go look at who he fought. Those guys were NOT chumps either. The biggest knock on him was that he couldn’t finish. Just by watching him recently, it looked like his standup is improved even though it hasn’t translated to T/KOs. He has that to fall back on if his and Yoshi’s Judo cancel each other out. He was getting the better of alves for the first round before he got dropped. In this fight, I hope we get to see Judo moves. But I also like Karo softening Yoshi up with some body shots and then going for the FINISH! Sorry I can’t pick new booty over Karo. He’s been in the game too long and he’s a proud dude who’s pissed off right about now.
by kama kaze on Aug 23, 2008 5:26 PM EDT reply actions
If you fight for a living as Karo does then how in the hell can you not be in shape?
Karo had a title shot but got injured before the fight. Had he beaten Alves he would probably have gotten a shot at gsp or fitch. His judo is great, his stand up is pretty good and his ground game is alright. A well rounded fighter that happens to look like some guy you would see playing catcher in a mens softball game. I want to see him cut to 155 and fight Nate Diaz.

i don’t get y u guys talk so much shit on him and say he sucks but wen thiago beats him thiago becomes the greatests and u love his sac, karo musy b good if he made thiago great huh..

Karo and BJ both have great natural talent and natural ability which is why BOTH of them for SO LONG PRIDED yes PRIDED themselves on seeing how LITTLE they could train and still win.
BJ has stepped up and is now training like the champ he is. Maybe, it appears Karo is doing the same thing!
im definately not a Karo fan but i think if a “BJ Turnaround” he could POTENTIALLY be a threat to the 170 division TOP 3 (with exception in myopinion to GSP)
Should be a good fight. i expect Karo to be pissed off and Hungry and take the win but it will NOT be easy!!
ALSO
Shek VS Griffen should be interesting!
AND i would like to see Clay Guida fight Nate Diaz!
IM GONNA THROW IN MY FAVORITE FIGHTER IN EACH DIVISION JUST TO SEE WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK:
155- ALWAYS HAS BEEN bj AND sherk TAKING SECOND
170- ALWAYS BEEN A 50-50 SPLIT BETWEEN GSP AND MATT HUGHES
185- RICH FRANKLIN
205- TITO “THE HYPE MACHINE” ORTIZ AND WANDY
HEAVY- GROWING UP A WWE FAN I HAVE TO SAY lensar AND andrei arlovski

Qmonster you’re a FUCKEN IDIOT LOL!!! Karo looks great and this is not a body building contest idiots… Stop the stupid hating karo is one of the most exciting fighters look at his record 26-4 with 9 submissions ONLY 26 Grow up people and make some REAL SENSE before talking!!
Karo and Diego = fight of the year
Karo and Fickt = fight of the night
karo and burkman = lot of people including myself would say fight of the night!!
Also other tough competitions etc etc……….
Karo’s been fighting since he was 14 and fitch is a boringggggggggg ass fighter kas has had tougher competition than fitch and more exciting fights! He may not be a finisher since his whole strength is mostly judo but hey one of the most EXCITITNG fighters without a doubt! FACTS SPEAK LOUDER!!!! WAR karo hope you WHOOP yoshidas ASS and shut all these stupid non-fighting morons up!!!!!

Whatever dude I’ve seen karo train and his done mostly by himself and help from Greg Jackson! Get your head out of your ass karo is 10 times better fighter and known fighter than fitch ..Karo is 26 with 26-4 a MMA record and has one of the most exciting fights since he adopted his judo in MMA! Just cause his fights got to decision manly does not mean there not exciting! Who gives a fuck I rather watch 3 round non-stop action that watch 1 round lucky ko lol.. Fitch is a boring ass wrestler who got DOMINATED by gsp when karo almost submitted gsp ..You should do more researching before talking that goes for the other idiots too who actually agree with you lol. How sad when morons like you don’t have any clue about MMA or the fightera…
I agree with F-Pride, Karo and Diego better performance done by karo than watching Diego and Fitch boring ass fight with a split decision that I would have to say Diego not fitch! But karo made the fight of the YEAR and beat his ass the first 2 rounds CLEARLY even a blind man could have seen that. I rest my case.

Enough with your nonsense talking bitch! What an uneducated fool how old are you? Who the fuck are you? Let me guess a white trash who has never EVER stepped into an octagon so keep barking like a stupid dog. Karo has had tougher competition since he stepped foot in the ufc. So with that said go fuck yourself this ain’t a body building contest dumbass. If it was easy educated retards like you this world would be in such a better place haha.

karo parisyan might not be a finisher but he sure is a great show stealer he make decisions fights mostly exciting fights not like sherk lay and pray all of his fights or machida running around the octagon lol. Also randy couture his a smart fighter and not mostly a finisher. Big fan of karo and Randy his still and always will be one of my favorite UFC fighters. Cause his exciting and It doesn’t matter if your body doesn’t look like a body builder I mean some guys are not cut for having a body like that. As long as your conditioning and your strength is there than you are fine… Put the heat on him karo
