Donald Trump Jr: 'I cant make it a one man show or the Tito Ortiz show' at Affliction (Audio)

The contract demands from the "Huntington Beach Bad Boy" are apparently too rich for even multimillionaire heir Donald Trump Jr.'s blood. So much for that Affliction MMA "ground-breaking record contract."

Tito and Randy are both the next Ken Shamrock.

It was reported that Tito has been talking with many different Orgs including Lorenzo (instead of Dana) about a contract. I doubt any org is going to sign him for the kind of money he wants to make so he can either bite a big one here and take a pay cut or just not fight again. I don’t care what happens either way

I dont get why 250k in the UFC was not enough for Tito? Considering what hes done lately!

by JV on Aug 21, 2008 5:10 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Lol your guess is about as good as mine. The guy was being taken care of too, he fought what Ken and Rashad? He was given a match against Chuck and the only real time he was punished was by the UFC giving him Lyoto after he talked his trash. The guy had it on easy street and was probably one of the top 5 highest paid guys in the UFC at the time. I don’t even think Hughes got paid more than him.

THe only thing I would want to see Tito do is fight for Affliction against Babalu for the simple fact that I think Babalu can choke him out (which I want to see) and because TIto and Babalu will sell a MONSTER amount of ppv’s. THink about it, they really hate each other, TIto will start running his mouth, talking all that trash to sell the fight. babalu is crazy, so then he will respond, and they will go back and forth and eventually EVERYONE will be purchasing Affliction.

EliteXC cant afford Tito

Tito is worthless to the UFC because he is a B level fighter making top fighter pay

Tito only has value to Affliction, not the value that tIto thinks he is worth.

If Tito doesnt sign with Affliction, then I dont ever want to see him fight again. With Tito they can do:

Tito vs. Babalu for the title
and
Nog vs. Mtsyshenko

Next event have the winners vs. Winners, loosers vs. Loosers and we come out with 4 great LHW fights spread out over 2 events.

If True, I am looking forward to Horedecki vs. Dan Lauzon!

First off Randy is pretty much done with fighting, eventhough I think he’s got a few more fights ahead of him.

Second even though I love Tito he can’t get past Chuck, he won’t beat Wanderlei again, and after what Rampage did to Henderson Tito beating him is out of the question.

by Wanderlei Fan on Aug 21, 2008 5:20 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I’m thinking your thinking that I was implying Tito may go back to the UFC… and you almost might be right. The only way Tito would go back to the UFC is if he accepted that he is ultimately useless to the sport. The UFC could put him up against a couple people but they would buy him primarily to stop his selling power from joining another org. John is right and Affliction is the only company who could truly use Tito right now. Although I wouldn’t mind seeing him face Babalu, Frank would be another pretty big draw. Frank Tito would be awesome and the best part is one of them has to lose. If by some chance Tito beat Frank then he could even fight against Cung but I don’t think he’d beat Frank.

by Cogito Ergo Sum on Aug 21, 2008 6:29 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

TIto vs. Frank is a good fight that I overlooked, but EliteXC is in financial SHAMBLES, they cant afford TIto if they wanted him.

They are both greedy idiots who aren’t nearly as good as they think they are. There are a number of guys in the UFC that would steamroll both of them. IMO, Randy is WAY overrated. He only moved up to heavyweight because he kept getting KTFO by Chuck. A fight with him and Fedor would be a joke.

by Adam on Aug 21, 2008 5:08 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

You should not be allowed to watch the show if you think Randy is overated the fact of the Matter is he did what much younger fighters could not. I hate Tim Sylvia, but he was the champ for a reason. Not everyone can do it like Fedor.

by Wanderlei Fan on Aug 21, 2008 5:31 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Randy is overrated relative to the amount of money he wants to fight and the hype about a fight with Fedor. I personally couldn’t care less if he ever fights again. Why do you have to bring up age? A fighter is a fighter period. I don’t give a darn how old they are.

by Adam on Aug 21, 2008 5:58 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Well if that is the case take any other guy over 40 and put him in there with Tim and see if they measure up, and if age really did not matter then y is it shown as a disadvantage in every sport known to man with the exception of Golf and other sports like that. I look up to randy for the same way I look up to Greg Jackson, cause when he comes out to the octagon and gives the whole world that famous smile and wink I know he has a super game plan he is going to execute against the taller bigger stronger opponent. I have never seen Tim get dominated by anyone like that except Fedor, and come on I mean it is Fedor.

Way to go Tito, your big chin that is connected to your mouth have done it again.

I guess the grass isn’t that green out of the UFC. Jacob is just talking himself into a hole. I honestly didn’t think I would see the day that he would put his tail between his legs and try to negotiate with the UFC again. This business is about putting butts in seat AND performance. Tito really thought he was superman and Dana was the evil exec. Strong work Jacob.

“It was a bit of a shock to us…I can’t make it a one man show or the Tito Ortiz show giving him more than a guy like Fedor who is coming in here with a winning record…I was (disappointed). I was shocked. It was almost like don’t even bother calling back because there is no point in making a deal here…it was agressive.”

one thing Affliction can count on….. Trump will not be taken advantage of

by Robert on Aug 21, 2008 5:11 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

He won’t get taken advantage of and he won’t lose money for very long if indeed he has an investment in Affliction.
Trump is as hard as they come and is only out for himself.

by Adam on Aug 21, 2008 5:23 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Riiiight. First off, anyone remember the USFL?

Secondly, this is Donny Jr., not the big guy. Donny Jr. has about as much credibility as a Wall Street intern.

you know that sweaty feeling you get when you need to take a real bad crap? like your entire body sweats at once and your forehead gets all clamy and you know theres no toilet within a decent get to range.so you have to either walk bt people all sneaky and not fart or try to hold out til it settles but you just get even more nervous and sweaty poo head? yea thats the way owners feel when having to deal with tito i think.

by whimwham on Aug 21, 2008 6:24 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I don’t quite follow, but man i need to take a crap now.

I…don’t know if I understand the connection? However, you have given a superb description of the “dump of my life”, taken by me. not so long ago, on a hot July afternoon. Thanks for the memories.

i figured tito was asking for 2-3 mil. the sad things is, he really thinks he’s worth it!

by b.w. on Aug 21, 2008 10:46 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Tito is such a loser, literally and metaphorically.

by ARodOfIron on Aug 21, 2008 5:03 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Small fix-up: They’ve been talking to the Jr., not Donald Trump (as shown on picture and referenced in the text).

I can understand both sides really, Ortiz is trying to pull as much cash out as he can for his last fights, but I believe either his manager or Jenna are blowing too much air into his A$$ or something. (I didn’t wanted to use the ‘he has gotten a big head’ punchline)

If Tito would be smart he would have asked for a reasonable payday, strengthened his relationship with WAMMA/Affliction and eventually switched sides from fighter to manager/producer/trainer/whatever. But smart is not his gameplan it seems…

by YouTapped on Aug 21, 2008 5:05 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, I’m sure Dana’s belly hurts by laughing so hard at this…

by ARodOfIron on Aug 21, 2008 5:27 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Tito = Smart; oh you tapped, you funny guy. I realize what you said, but asking Tito to be smart is like asking Timmy not to suck. The fact is you expect Tito, who has such a big head, to have some brains inside of that cranium. Oh well, why ask why, drink a Bud.

by dandeman on Aug 21, 2008 5:12 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, being intelligent simply isn’t what Tito is. Talking is, but not intelligence. A smart person would have said nothing and kept in his pants that he’s going to get a great deal. Not Tito. Any chance he has to blow his own horn. I bet he figures out a way to fight Kimbo.

by dave on Aug 21, 2008 5:52 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

The question is, who is more of a blowhard, Tito or Trump Jr.?

At least Tito has accomplished something in his life at one point to warrant his giant ego, what has Donny Jr. ever accomplished? Does anyone actually believe this guy has final say on anything?

by noneed4name on Aug 21, 2008 6:12 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Tito. Hands down. At least Trump Jr. thinks before he speaks.

by JRK on Aug 22, 2008 9:28 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Dana said it best. He only put up with Tito’s crap when he was a good fighter but not anymore. He has to sign with AFL now and fight awesome up and coming prospects like Mike Van Arsdale.

by NameNotRequired on Aug 21, 2008 6:19 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Tito’s antics r gonna’ do him in… that was a really dumb public thing to say…. now Trump is starting to understand what Dana was talking about… and Trump JR said he was suprised! lol… well I think they’ve definitely figured Tito out and no way in hell r they going to use him to run their company. no way.

by THORAZINE on Aug 21, 2008 6:23 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Do we even know what he is asking for? We know Randy thinks he should get 6mil to fight Fedor (which hes not getting). I wonder if Tito is asking for more than that. I hope he goes to Dream so we dont have to hear about him, lol.

by Fokman on Aug 21, 2008 6:24 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Tito just needs to realize that MMA can do without him.

by KS on Aug 21, 2008 6:42 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

as a huuuuge tito fan, i just got to say his better days are behind him. can i blame him for trying to get as much money as possible, of course not. i doubt he will get what he wants and as a fan i felt that what he made was pretty nice for his performance. but fan of his or not, hes lost or drawed against the toughest opponents there are. chuck liddel is a legend, randy couture is a legend, and say what you want about rashad, but hes undefeated for a reason. i just would like to see fighters in general make more money just because it doesnt make sense to me that the ufc brings in millions to pay their fighters the rates they do. try comparing ufc fighters purses to local or professional boxers and you will understand exactly what im saying.

by bg on Aug 21, 2008 9:31 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Gotta challenge you on this one, bg.

Why? Why do MMA fighters need to make 6 million dollars for a fight? Simply because their company makes a fortune? I don’t know about you, but the company I work for makes a fortune too, but it doesn’t mean I should take home 3 million dollars a year. You could argue that the fighters MAKE the sport, or the UFC in particular, there is also just as strong an argument that the UFC MAKES it fighters.

They can take guys like Tito Ortiz and pay them a quarter of a million dollars to give a mediocre performance against guys like Rashad Evans. Not bad. Some firefighters and active military will die before they make even a fraction of that. I don’t mean to sound preachy, but let’s keep this fighter salary garbage in check.

And simply because you threw it out there: “try comparing UFC fighters’ purses to local or professional boxers and you will understand exactly what I’m saying.” ….I’m a boxer, And I know plenty of other boxers. And none of us have ever made as much as Tito Ortiz has. Take it from us.

by SkeletonKey on Aug 21, 2008 10:05 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Good point.
The notion that fighters should make all the great money because they put their bodys on the line, sounds good and I understand the feeling. However it’s just notthat simple, in any sport or business venture. It takes someone like Trump or the Fertittas to first have loads of cash (wich they have made somewhere else) and then, be willing to dump loads of cash into a business that may not be succesful. If it works, and it does’nt always (see IFL) then they figure out a way to continue while still making money.

by Jrandolph on Aug 21, 2008 10:23 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

boxing definitely has more $$, sponsers, HBO, SHOWTIME backing. Tito will make more money with Affliction just like Tim Silva took in a 800k paycheck. Fedor took in 1.6 million. Tito doesn’t need to irritate a potential employer with his antics to get a nice payday… chill out grow up, or he’s going to embarress himself.

by THORAZINE on Aug 21, 2008 11:44 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Donald Trump Jr. has all this money. You’d think he could afford a less feminine chin.

by chefdaddy on Aug 22, 2008 7:16 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, but he got his little chin and puckered mouth from his dillhole father. I bet he’s glad he didn’t inherit his hair though!
