It’s gonna be TKO mexicutioner my man. Guaranteed! I don’t see Rashad sluggin’ it out with the Iceman for 3 whole rounds. He’s lucky if he doesn’t get KTFO!

Rashad “The Cannon Fodder” Evans. I see a first round TKO happening similar to Jardine vs. Wand. Evans stands and trades…can’t get a take down on Chuck..and Evans gets caught.

Rashad is going to be dancing around like a fool and then POW!!! chuck Socks him and the fights OVER!

heheheheheheehehehehehee… I pictured it in my head.. and yeah John that pretty much how it’s going to go..unless Greg Jackson can give Rashad a fish net to throw over Chuck.. and keeps him pinned to the canvas for 15minutes.

I find it very difficult for Rashad to win this fight. Come fight night, don’t expect to see Chuck below -300.

There is NOTHING that Rashad can bring to the table that Chuck hasn’t already seen. And Rashad has never fought that caliber of fighter that Chuck is.

by ViolentMike on Aug 21, 2008 11:54 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I am aware that Chuck will be a big fAVORITE but I have to go with Chuck in this one. He knows bettrer then all of us how important this fight is. This will probably be his last title run, and he is aware that the UFC has given him the easiest path back to the title out of all the potential #1 contenders. Chuck knows that he has to capitalize on this opportunity (especially now that Rampage doesnt have the title). I expect Rashad to impress us and fight better then ever, but the Momment and the opponent will be too much for Rashad. LIke buster said, it will make Rashad better in the long run, but right now he is not ready to beat a very Hungry Chuck Liddell in a big main event.

Regardless of the Odds my money is on Chuck in this one. But Rashad should make it more interesting then most think. I am starting to expect an exciting fight, for however long it last. Probably 2nd round Ko (maybe 1st)

I hope Chuck uppercuts Rashad’s head through the stratosphere ala StreetFighter style…

Rashad is one blanket I hope the UFC gets rid of…

Don’t worry Mitt. During the PPV telecast we will watch over and over again the same black and white interview of Chuck saying that he plans on KO’ing Sugar, about 18 times as we sit through 1 hour of BS during a 3 hour PPV event.

rashad has a great chin but i dont think he can hang with chuck on the feet and i dont think he will be able to take chuck down

by matt on Aug 21, 2008 12:52 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

great chin?? what gives u that impression… because he got rocked by Brad Imes or b/c the only good striker he’s fought was a 185er who lacks one punch ko power even at that weight????

I expect a vicious knockout here. Old fat belly Chuck is gonna get back to his bread and butter. I’m picturing a Vernon White style ko. Backing up with a jack hammer right to the temple.

I really can’t stand the argument that rashad is gonna learn how to throw mean leg kids from Jardine either??? Jardines leg kicks may be the best in the biz, rashad will never kick like keith…. Jason Von Flue can train with Chuck all he wants but he will never punch like chuck. Certain guys have their signature strength and leg kicks are jardines not rashads.

by crowls on Aug 21, 2008 1:47 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

You’re right about the leg kicks. Rashad isn’t going to fight the same fight that Jardine did. Greg Jackson has a game plan specifically for Rashad and using his strengths (takedowns, quick hands, dirty boxing). But I guarantee you that we will see Rashad test that hammy on Chuck by kicking it early and often to see if it’s fully healed and if Chuck favors that leg at all…Rashad will have a much easier time taking him down.

Rashad definitely has a solid chin though. Just go back and look at his days on TUF 2…he fought some heavy hitters…including Jardine. He also went toe to toe with Bonnar and he can hit. He has a good chin but Chuck can expose anyone quickly with the power that he has but Rashad can take some damage to get in on Chuck…which he will have to.

Chuck has a long history of great KOs and has one of the heaviest set of hands ever in MMA but he hasn’t KOed anyone since the TKO of Tito back in 2006 if you count that but his one punch KO power hasn’t been around since his last fight with Randy. Chuck isn’t getting any younger and he turns 39 this year. I’m not saying that he’s past his prime but another loss or a lackluster performance and his days of fighting might be slowing down. He’ll need to take this fight as seriously as he took the fight with Wanderlei.

I think Rashad has a chance here…albeit a small one…to win this fight. He’ll need to be in the best shape of his life cause he has a tendency to gas in the later rounds and he’ll have to really stick to a solid gameplan. If he gets Chuck down…he needs to stay very busy cause that’s where he’ll score most of his points and the opportunities to take down Chuck are hard to come by.

well wandy is a hard dude to knockout. and if he wins impressively i hope he gets a title shot. i love machida, and i think rampage deserves a rematch. but i think they can have their shot after chuck does, both dudes are young enough and can still wait a couple of months more. It could be chuck’s last hurrah, so i guess they should give him the respect for everything he’s done, by giving him one a last title shot..
then the eventual champion can fight machida or rampage or whoever is the top of the heap after. hopefully machida. :)

by weoweoweo on Aug 21, 2008 9:59 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Buster, Chuck is due for a KO and Rashad will be on the receiving end of it. Rashad has never been in the ring with anyone that hits even close to as hard as Chuck. Bonnar is not a good example, I don’t think he has ever KOed an opponet.

After his loss to Jardine there is no way Chuck takes anybody lightly, especially a former TUF contestant. In a previous interview with Rashad he did talk about Chuck’s injury. Because he is depending on Chuck to be injured, which is a horrible stadegy. Rashad has already lost this fight in his own mind. No one keeps a perfect record in MMA and Rashad knows his days are numbered!

by BNF on Aug 21, 2008 11:13 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Buster, thanks for the thought put into that post. I just don’t see Rashad having the technique to get in and out with leg kicks on chuck. the counter to a leg kick is a right hand and chucks is the best. i see rashad throwin some early and either leaving his hands down while he does so(he’s pretty sloppy on the feet most of the time) or just not getting back out and eating some punches.

As for chuck not knocking anybody out since randy. So he didn’t catch babalu with a perfect shot on the chin. so what. he knocked him silly. as for tito, i don’t think he’s ever been one punched. he’s got a massive head and i’m not sure anyone but fedor could knock him out with one punch. then he ran into rampage and took a flash knockout cuz he got sloppy and threw a real bad body shot. the jardine fight i can’t defend. maybe he wasn’t right mentally for that fight after losing the title, i don’t know but it was pretty bad. Then take Wandy, yea he didn’t finish him but u could hit Wandy with a couple of bricks and you’re not gonna get that guy to quit. What he showed in that fight…solid counter punching and measured aggression with spurts of real serious aggression looked alot like the chuck of old to me. I don’t think age is an issue yet with chuck. If his leg proves to be an issue in this fight, it will only get more difficult for him to heal it up and it could be a real problem down the road… this is gettin too long.

This should be a good fight. It’s just weird when the main event of a payperview is only 3 rounds instead of 5. Hopefully, that won’t play a part in the fight, anyway.

by UFCAddict on Aug 21, 2008 1:10 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Why is that wierd? Many UFC as of late have not featured a title fight, meaning that they were all 3 rounders.

by ViolentMike on Aug 21, 2008 11:47 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

It’s just weird to me because of my personal wish that all payperviews had a title fight or at least a #1 contender fight that featured 5 rounds instead of 3… so I felt better about spending the 45 bucks… I guess.

huck is the man . He is the one that made this sport what it is today. anyone one want to argue that. I want him back at champ, more than anyone, and think t would be great to have him fight forrest,as his coach on tuf 1.It would be a full circle fight since randy is coaching him now what kind of advice would randy have for forrest. (tuck UR damn chin and when he plants his feet run,and if you take him down pray he dosen’t get up) Come on Chuck lets get that title back one more time. Biggest name in mma. Ps.just for men works for beards too.

I dunno…Jackson’s camp beat Iceman once, he trains with Jardine every day, Iceman is known to ‘switch up his style.’And Rashad is quick.
On the other hand he didn’t put away Bisping or Tito…I think it will be close. Slight edge Lidell.

by Ground-Game on Aug 21, 2008 2:43 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

His fights with Bisping and Tito both sucked in my opinion. If he couldnt finish Tito, then he is going to have a real rough night with Chuck. Chuck gave Tito a shalacking twice. Landed like a ten piece combo on him both times. I hope it is a good fight but I really think that Rashad is going to get beat up.

Never count out the underdog tho. Its not a good idea. haha

by enzo-enormous on Aug 21, 2008 11:01 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

not known to ’switch up his style.’ Damn can’t blame it on the ‘Bud Light’ :>

by Ground-Game on Aug 21, 2008 2:44 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

He might switch it up. He should practice takedowns. That would be cool. You need to fight differently as you get older. Randy did that and he is managing. You also need to adjust your training.

by RyanHobbs on Aug 21, 2008 2:51 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Rashad in my opinion still lost that fight to tito, tito won two rounds out of 3, even though it is fairly ruled a draw,

rashad cant handle tito, but somehow beleives he can handle chuck

i hope chuck gets the title shot after this fight, only other contender is machida if he wins, and possibly thiago, even though hes relatively unknown buy most

by mitt romney on Aug 21, 2008 4:27 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

But if Tito didn’t repeatedly grab the fence during round 2, he would have spent the majority of the round on his back meaning that Rashad would have won the fight. So if anything, it should be said that Rashad won that fight because without the cage grabbing, he wins 2 rounds to 1.

by ViolentMike on Aug 21, 2008 11:50 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Rashad i don’t believe is an A level fighter, and truth is he prob never will be. He’s good, but Chuck is still one of the best 205lbs on the planet, and imo Liddell is simply too good for him.

I can’t see Rashad securing a takedown, and if he does, i don’t see him keeping Chuck down or doing much down there. And Rashad simply can’t stand with Chuck. Liddell by TKO!

by UKMMA on Aug 21, 2008 5:08 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Chuck will not be losing this fight. He might play it cautious for a while and it may even get to round 2 but I dont think Rashad has enough experience for Chucks hands.

TKO Late Round 1 – Mid Round 2.

I love the way Chuck is PC about Rashad’s chances in this fight… :)

by Quant on Aug 21, 2008 6:11 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

There biggest problem Chuck will have with Rashad will be his speed. My guess is Chuck will have a hard time connecting with his punches because Rashad is going to be moving laterally quite a bit. This fight is really going to show how Chuck has slowed in his age. Chuck is going to have to cut his lateral movement off and push him straight back and pin him against the cage to be effective.

by Jason on Aug 21, 2008 9:14 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Yea cause he slowed so much in the wandi fight.

by DBG on Aug 21, 2008 10:36 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I disagree. Im sure Chuck has slowed. It happens to everyone. Chucky has always been great at cutting off the ring and forcing people to fight him. His cat like punches are just as strong from the outside, as they are coming in straight. The dude has seriously good accuracy as well. I dont like Rashad but I do hope that he puts up a good fight. Or at least gets knocked out in exciting fashion. ;)

by enzo-enormous on Aug 21, 2008 11:06 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Chuck def’ won’t have to pin him against the cage as you say, Jason. Chuck has about as much power stepping backwards and counterpunching as anyone. Noone has probably tried that lateral movement thing against a power puncher though so that may work. Chuck probably wouldn’t know how to handle that as most fighters would probably just walk straight into his power.

by PJJ on Aug 21, 2008 11:32 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Your right on that point and to add to that, Chuck is a counter puncher mostly. He needs people to come at him a bit before he really gets going, kinda like the Spider. Rashad will be poking in and out trying for points mostly and I think he will just try and win on the cards at the end. Fighters watch old fights and the Jardine fight will be what he will try and emulate I think to win, but he doesnt bring to the table what Jardine did and Chuck will expect that. So, in the end Chuck will win either on the cards becasue he is prepared for Rashads dance dance revolution attack or he will daze him with a counter and jump all over him and finish it.

Rashad can’t finish Chuck he doesnt have the power anywhere near what Wandy has and Chuck took his best, so its Chuck all the way just when will be the question. Then a massive fight for the title and Chuck will win and become the greatest ever and we can stop talking Randy.

by Cantrim on Aug 21, 2008 11:46 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Rashad in my humble opinion should follow Bisping to 185.

by WB on Aug 21, 2008 10:14 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

i disagree, sorry!! but Liddell has some of the best footwork in the sport along with the best hand speed just look at some of the combos in his last fight against wandi! The only way rashad is goin to be too fast is if he actually runs around the octagon!!!
Chuck has beat the best andhes goin to go out chmp, mark my words!! I think rashad is a worthy opponent no doubt, as anyone with no losses should be!!

I’ve watched Chuck every paperview for the past 6yrs and there is a noticeable decline in his footspeed ever since the first Tito fight. If you know the fight game and are in tune to a fighters footspeed and handspeed you can see significant decline in Chucks. Plus he’s coming off of a bad hamstring pull, (which I have done 4 times and it never really seems to heal correctly) we could see a significant decline in Chuck’s footwork. Don’t get me wrong, Chuck is my favorite fighter ever since I moved to San Luis 6-7 yrs ago, but I can look at a fighters progression through the years and take note of diminished abilities. I can’t stand Rashad, but he is going to make Chuck look slow.

by StabToTheLiver on Aug 21, 2008 11:46 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

What makes Chuck dominate the 205 is his size. The way his shoulders are placed makes him easy to through those crazy angle straight and overhand rights. Rashads size is too small for 205 just like Wandi. He is fast and would be faster at 185lbs, I don’t see him standing in front of Chuck and swinging, he will try to take him and down will get caught by either a leg kick or uppercut. If Liddell beats Rashad, Dana should give him a title shot againt Forrest on November 15th, that event needs a main event.

by DanaBlk on Aug 21, 2008 11:54 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Im sorry jason but i disagree with you, i dont think there has been major decline in his footwork, for sure he will be under pressure with the hamstring, but at no point yet in his career has he struggled with his footwork, as that is how he creates his crazy angles for punches!!
You cant say that against wandi his footwork was off and his hand speed certainly wasnt, rashad will test that out anyway as he doesnt generally stand still. so we will find out who is right jason, but i see rashad finding it difficult tobe elusive with the iceman, not many have!!!!

I CANT BELIEVE THERE IS NO TALK ABOUT THE MACHIDA/THIAGO SILVA FIGHT. THE WINNER OF THIS FIGHT IS GOING TO BE THE NEXT LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION.

Rashad to take it by KO!? Really? Bold comment to make so fair play to you for putting it out there, but i just don’t see it.

IMO the only way Rashad can win this is by decision, and thats if Liddell can’t land anything big like in the Jardine fight.
