Why is there a press conference for UFC90..when will still have UFC88 and89 to go?
by PhilQNY on Aug 19, 2008 12:20 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
yeah its a shame that this event is been promoted before a quality event like UFC 89. By the time UFC 90 rolls around, I will be so sick of hearing about it!

I like Cote a lot and I’m looking forward to the fight and the card for 90 but it’s way too early to be hearing about this event when we are over 2 weeks away from 88 and then there is 89 which is a deadly card as well. I think the UFC is going a little overboard with their Silva hyping…he doesn’t need it. They hype Cote cause they want Silva’s win to look that much more impressive.
by Buster Bluth on Aug 19, 2008 12:38 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
This is Anderson’s worst match yet. I think Leben can take Cote. Given what the odds could be on this fight, I would love to bet $500 on Cote and win about $1.2 mill.

Why do you guys care so much about the promotion of this event???? We are on a MMA site and there are stories about MMA, WTF. There have been pleanty of threads about Leban/Bisging and Chuck/Rashad. Leave it to the guys on here to find absolutly anything to complain about!!!

Dana Confirmed that Mike Swick (who I cant stand) will be fighting on this card but no opponent was given.
Question: who do you think will be Swicks opponent at UFC 90? I say give him Koschek! I dont care if they train together or not, time to fight! No one else is even available, unless they want to feed Swick to Penn at 170 lbs.
what do u guys think about Swick’s opponent?
by john on Aug 19, 2008 1:55 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
THats a good one! Is he free to fight or is he already booked to fight someone else in the near future?
by john on Aug 19, 2008 2:50 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I’d take McLovin over Swick. In reference to John’s suggestion about Swick fighting Koscheck, they should start making these dudes that train together fight each other as well. The UFC needs to put it in fighters contracts that they have to fight whoever Silva puts them against. If they choose not to fight that person, they receive a penalty of some sort. This isn’t fucking boxing. If you dont want to potentialy fight someone you train with, fight in another weight division or another promotion, simple as that.

I think it would kind of make sense..cuz both beat Burkman..of course Mclovin in spectacular fashion..and swick in snozzer.. but both did beat Burkman.. Swick has a name.. Dustin has a rising stock potential.. It would make sense to me if now they were matched up to fight.
by PhilQNY on Aug 19, 2008 3:31 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
mex: I totally agree. I like the idea of the contract clause and a financial penalty for turning down a fight. only thing fighters housl be able to turn down is the date of the fight. I can understand not being ready to fight on a certain date, but No fighter should have any say of who is opponent would be.
Dustin vs. Swick sounds awesome, and I would have to give the edge to Hazlett….Swick will get caught in a triangle or arm bar if he tries trhat BS “Swicking out” crap against Dustin!
by john on Aug 19, 2008 3:39 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
john, Swick would KO Hazlett faster than Kos did.
by JV on Aug 19, 2008 4:01 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah sure… Hazelett is like the microsoft stock in the mid 80’s.. Swick..peaked on the TUF show and day after.. No way.. will Swick Ko Dustin “McLovin” Hazelett today.. it ain’t happen.. I would love to see the thread that confirms a Swick vs mcLovin fight for UFC90.. Swick has what most to do from jumpstreet a punchers chance.. Dustin has so many options available to him.. it’s like he has the bat belt strapped on inside the octagon.
by PhilQNY on Aug 19, 2008 4:08 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Dustin is too young and needs his confidence built up over multiple fights before he starts stringing tough bouts together
by McArthur on Aug 19, 2008 4:16 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
The awesome thing about that potential fight is that Hazelett doesn’t even need to get the fight to the ground to submit Swick. He can just run towards him, jump up and figure out which of Swick’s limbs are most vulnerable and snap it before his feet hit the ground!
McLOVIN!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve been pulling for, and touting this kid on this site for a while now and I love the fact that since the UFC started airing his fights, he is beginning to get the love that he deserves, right Mr.NC-17?
by ViolentMike on Aug 19, 2008 4:20 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Mclovin (which is the dumbest nickname I ever heard) only options are JJ. Hes not that good on his feet. And Swick’s got good subs aswell. So IMO Swick would take that fight!
by JV on Aug 19, 2008 4:22 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
You think Swick has submission skills that can parallel McLovin’s.. Once this fight hits the mat..Swick is in trouble.. big trouble swick’s whole body is made for Mclovin to pick a limb.. submission.. coke.. whatever works.. Swick will tap fast..real fast.
by PhilQNY on Aug 19, 2008 4:29 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Jv: Swick has a basic Guillotine, mclovin has High Level ju jitsu! No doubt in my mind that McLovin would defeat Swick. mclovin got a taste of the big fight against Kos, but lost. Rebounded to destroy Burkman who swick danced around with and NOW McLovin has NO DOUBTS that he belongs and it will show in his NEXT performance. YOu will see. I feel bad for his next opponent like mike said, if its Swick, he is getting one of his Limbs snapped!

Long time no blog fellas:
Just got back from Mexico (vacation)
Thursday Thoughts by OJR – UFC 87 !!!
After watching GSP’s dominating performance over Fitch…I don’t see BJ winning and I am a BJ nuthugger.
Brock is an incredible athlete but he needs to chill with the WWE tactics (no shoving your opponent after the bell rings).
I howled for joy after watching Emerson ko Manny. I really dislike Manny G. so that was a sweet sense of satisfaction for me.
Maia’s jits is scary and McDonald (sp?) is an absolute moron.
Kongo did not impress me. Viking looked like a scared queen.
What did I miss?
Did Stinky post his $500,000.00 winnings? Hahahaha

KenFlo vs Joe Daddy Nov 15th…BIG fight.
by Buster Bluth on Aug 19, 2008 12:29 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
For real? I see Daddy smothering Kenny for 15 mins like Sherk did.
by UKmmaBOY on Aug 19, 2008 12:31 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Nope, Joe Daddy via guillotine.

Where did you get that info? If true. that means if BJ is fighting in December and not against GSP.. he will be fighting another top WW.. I wonder who?
by PhilQNY on Aug 19, 2008 12:31 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. You and I were talking about this earlier Phil..
I think john suggested Koscheck..
He is the only ‘higher end WW’ that is not booked to fight before the years end.(that i can think of).
by Stagger-Lee on Aug 19, 2008 12:37 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
kos will get hurt!! thank god!!
by kevin doesn't know shit on Aug 19, 2008 12:48 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Kev: personally I wouldn’t want to give Kos that much cred and hype for BJ Penn fight. It may just be him.. cuz of how we have Diego and Alves fight soon. Kos rounds out the top5 current UFC WW’s. I would much rather see BJ vs GSP or BJ vs Florian this winter.
by PhilQNY on Aug 19, 2008 1:00 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
you guys will laugh, but after BJ beats GSP, he’ll call out anderson, then my 2 favorite fighters will go to war…and I think BJ will win!!!!
by kevin doesn't know shit on Aug 19, 2008 1:05 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Florian has nothing for BJ. At least Kos has a lay-and-prayer’s chance.
by Pat on Aug 19, 2008 1:06 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Kev: I’m a Huge BJ Penn fan.. He is a fighter’s figther..and today’s champ of champs.. But I’m a Bigger Anderson Silva fan.. The King of Champs.. This is aonly match up realistically I don’t see BJ Penn winning.. he can beat Silva.. I just don’t think if they were ever to square in the next 2 or 3 years.. he would lose to Silva IMO.. BJ would suffer the same fate as Silva’s last 7 opponents.
by PhilQNY on Aug 19, 2008 1:33 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I dont want to see Penn vs. silva because I feel that it is one of the few fights that Penn wont win. Then again, he could take silva down and then it would be a very interesting ground war involving 2 high level jits guys
Very much looking forward to Machida vs. Silva as well at UFC 89!
by john on Aug 19, 2008 1:41 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
PhilQNY, this is how I see it as of now!
King – Anderson Silva
Prince – GSP
Jester – BJ Penn
by JV on Aug 19, 2008 3:57 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
JV: I don’t know if Jester would be good fit for the prodigy.. You and agree on Silv’a postion.. GSP and BJ are neck and neck and can swap 2nd and 3rd all the way up to their fight.. that’s why they need to fight..and fight soon.

mmabay.co.uk is reporting it.
the fight will be at UFC 91 and it’s supposed to be in Boston…crazy!

Also…on the same site there’s an interview with Machida and he says he’s going to knock out Silva…bold prediction. Here’s the quote.
"I love to fight aggressive fighters, because the more aggressive they are the better it is for me. It suits more my style. He continued: "I’m going to over power him, I know Thiago is a very tough guy, but I’m gonna put on a strong pace. I know when I hit him, he is going to feel my hard punches and my hard kicks and I’m gonna look for a knockout."
by Buster Bluth on Aug 19, 2008 12:58 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
On their feet – Machida wins a boring decision, via running and point fighting!
On the ground – If Thiago gets it there, it will be a vicious GnP win for Thiago!
by JV on Aug 19, 2008 3:54 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
That is going to be a big fight for sure. I’m trying to clash their styles together in my head, but can’t decide a winner.

WOW! Thanks for the heads up Buster! I am assuming it will be UFC 91. any news on the location?
Ken flow is a warrior and this is a good way to get one of these former #1 contenders back out of the title picture and find out who deserves a second shot at their title hopes. I would like to see Kenny win because he is a warrior who deserves a shot at BJ and Joe was already Dominated by Penn.
Kenny taking this fight shows true warrior spirit and Championship material. It reminds me how how Chuck opted to fight Babalu when he alreday had a title shot risking his big opportunity. Take notes Karo! “YO Bro, u know who the F I am?” I dont want to fight Fitch, I will take the easy fight instead (so he thought)! lol

that is what I’m researching now john, great conversation coming tomorrow. with all this hype, I’ll never live up to it!

Gotta go with florian on that one. Am I the only one who likes this kid? He gets no love, save for his show, and tons of hate for winning fights on cuts (anyone know how many that was exactly?) And, by the way, that is a completely legal way to win a fight, like it or not. If some of you don’t like the winning by cuts, be mad at his opponents, who know going in that it’s a possibility, and still not stopping it.

So Anderson Silva wanted to fight Cote, …..interesting.

I think it’s just hype, when DW started speaking about that the look on the spider’s face was like WTF? DW talks more than he should sometimes, but I think he’s just trying to create more hype for the fight, as I guess many are not that interested since most of us feel it’s a cake walk for the spider (and it is really :) )
by linx on Aug 19, 2008 1:49 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Im still interested no matter who the opponent is! I mean come on its THE SPIDER!!!!!
by JV on Aug 19, 2008 3:50 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
i believe it because anderson always welcomes guys who will stand and trade with him and cote is that guy we all know he he was fighting okami what okamis plan would be and that would be to take anderson down and lay on him for five rounds
