I’m excitied for this fight. I’ve watched some of Rousimar’s nonUFC fights and he’s a beast! I’m not saying he’s going to beat Dan Henderson, in fact I do believe Hendo will come out victorious, but Palhares can definatley make a fight out of it. I truely believe he can be a major factor and perhaps even a champion at 185.

If it’s Palhares that you’re talkin’ about, I really doubt it…I doubt that he would be champion that is, hehe!!…I’m waitin’ for Hendo to win this one because it’s a step closer to HEndo-Silva 2!! I’m really itchin’ for that fight to materialize, or Hendo-Franklin wouldn’t be half that bad either!

I agree that Hendo will most likely win this fight, but I have been very impressed with Palhaes. In all likelyhood he won’t ever be champion, but it’s definatley possibly. The guy has increadable skills, and there’s no telling where he’ll go. I’m picking Henderson to win this fight and to rematch Anderson down the road. I think of all the middleweights out there Dan Henderson has the best shot of beating Silva. He has all the tools and if he utilizes them propperly he has a very good chance of beating the Spyder. Just don’t sleep on Palhares and definatley don’t think it’s a walk through for Hendo.

Well Henderson almost had Silva back then. I’m countin’ on him to dethrone the Spider. But IMO, The Spider also has vastly improved since their last fight[see Irvin’s demolition].

i too have been wanting that do-over fight w anderson! yes hendo got caught and credit to anderson, but something tells me hendo didnt go in there with the respect that anderson deserved and thats why he got caught. hendo was pounding him and had complete control for a while so something tells me he can do it again. Though hendo controlled anderson better than most have, anderson calls franklin(who didnt touch him it seems) his toughest opponent. It appears anderson was completely disrespecting hendo with that and he didnt even want to shake his hand when the fight began. something tells me he has bad blood w him due to hendo vs noguera…idk what else could it be?

blah, you should watch the Franklin vs Silva rematch again, you’ll see that Rich was the most technical striker A. Silva’s fought yet and why he keeps saying it was his toughest fight. I also think Henderson and even Lutter had Silva in worse spots but Franklin did land some shots and it was a pretty even fight until he got caught. Overall I’d say Silva just gives Rich the credit cause he’s an all around good guy.

I’d really like to see Hendo vs. Franklin. That fight appeals to me much more than Hendo Vs. Spider II.

Dan put on the best performance against Silva than anyone had attempted. He was and still is a great fighter. I hope he gets another title shot. I just don’t see anyone else giving Silva a run for his money like he did. He just slipped up at the end, got tired, and tapped. Damn, up until the last round, it was an even score in my bood. Dan getting round 1, and round 2 going to Silva. Either way Hendo is going to be a handful for any fighter. And, I don’t care what Silva says about Franklin being his most difficult fight. I know damn well Hendo gave him a better fight. No disrespect to Franklin.

I hate to say it but Henderson is 38 yrs old and doesn’t seem like he can push the pace like he use to without getting tired. I dont see him as the fighter he use to be and technically he’s not really getting much better.

Agreed! He’s been a disappointment since joining UFC.

well he fought rampage and anderson silva, those guys can make anyone look bad
by brendan on Aug 19, 2008 12:42 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I hear u brendan, but he still looked liked his wild swinging style hadn’t evolved and he gassed early in both fights, regardless of the who he fought, he shouldn’t gas.

Hendo finally ends his streak of title fights.
I think this fight has the calibre to be very boring.

Dan went from 2 belt champ in Pride to possible gatekeeper of the middleweight division in the UFC. Hopefully Dan won’t go Cro Cop on us and start getting some Ws.

WAR Danny boy!! Time to put this Palhares hype to rest!!
by TheNegation on Aug 18, 2008 8:49 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Palhares hype! is right! Just cause Palhares pulled a good sub on Salaverry, all of a sudden he can beat Hendo? Hendo is going to KO this guy.

Jv: Just cause you have only seen him fight Ivan, doesnt mean he isnt a very tough and skilled fighter. U wait n c, Hendo is going to loose this fight!

I hope we get to see how Palhares’ stand up is. I know hes a beast on the grounds buit i wanna see if he cant take a shot and if he can deliver some. Either way im picking Rousimar with the upset.

el “toquino pequenito” or watever he is, he was awesome in his last fight, but hes too short for 185, needs to drop down to welter weight!

This is slightly off base, but there has been a lot “who gets the next title” talk in just about every weight class. I was thinking about the non-title shots I most want to see in each division.
Nick Diaz v Tyson Griffin
John Fitch v Karo (if he beats Yoshida) also, Swick v Rumble J.
Maia v Yushin Okami
Page v Wandi has to happen – Hendo/Rich in either class
Brock v Gonzaga – I also want to see him fight Cain, but not until they are both ready for title contention.
Nothing to do with titles or # 1 contender fights, just matchups I would like to see.
WAR HENDO
by efisher on Aug 18, 2008 9:25 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Isn’t that supposed to be Nate Diaz?
by TheNegation on Aug 18, 2008 11:27 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Dana has already publicly stated that Okami is next to get a title shot.
Karo will not beat Yoshida, you heard it hear first!

If Hendo was a better wrestler, he’d have a chance, but he’s NOT. Hendo has never dominated other GREAT wrestlers to the extent GSP has. Besides, I think Hendo is starting to go down hill and GSP is still going up. It would be one hell of a fight though, that I’d love to see.

Hmm, I’m going out on a limb here and saying that Palahres beats Dan Henderson. He is more athletic, faster and stronger with much better BJJ then Hendo. Hendo does have the wrestling edge but that does not mean he is impossible to take down, many people have done it. The only way I see Hendo winning this is if he manages to keep it standing and either land a vicious right hand or a nasty left hook. Hendo does have the experience edge, but I believe Palahres will rise to the occasion and not let the pressure get to him too much. If Palahres manages to get it to the ground with him on top, Hendo will be in trouble, guaranteed. Palahres has a crushing top game.
Palahres by submission, round 3.

this is one of the biggest fights in hendos life
he has to get a win
just like wanderlei did against jardine
this will be a very interesting fight… although he looked good against rampage and faired the best that anyone has in the ufc againt silva, he still has to get a win
another loss would push him way down the ladder possibly even out of the ufc
a win on the other hand sets up a match against franklin… win that and you get silva hendo 2
by bigjohn on Aug 18, 2008 10:40 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
wasnt hendo prides 203 pound champ and 180 pound champ? do u really think hendo couldnt cut to 170? i bet he eventually does and then takes on bj penn for the ww title at the end of next year man hendo and bj could u imagine that scrap woooooooooooooooooo

Someone is getting a LITTLE ahead of themselves. Last time I checked GSP was the WW champ.

geez you went pretty far down the rabbit hole with hendo/bj lol
by brendan on Aug 19, 2008 12:45 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think Palhares will win this fight, his ground game will give most of the MW division trouble. Henderson would have to keep it standing for his best chance to win and I don’t think he will be able to do so.
Dan is a better fighter at LHW; winning a round against Anderson (particularly in the manner Dan did) does not mean he will do better in the UFC as a MW.

I think Toquinho will sub Hendo like F. Shamrock did in Contenders (Grappling event).
While hendo is training and partying, Palhares is only training:

Here’s hoping Palhares and Hammill both pull hammies and Hendo and Franklin get to fight at a 195 lb. catch weight.
