HIGHJACK ALERT! jake shields is now saying that he hasn’t signed to fight john alessio and could face a top 185lb fighter from another organization. didnt say what org, or what fighter per mmaweeekly. another day in as the mma world turns!

Yeah, Alession said he’s not fighting him in Sept. I guess his arm just came out of a cast not too long ago and he said he wouldn’t be ready to fight Sheilds. Sheilds would have beat him in the first anyway. Kind of a one sided match up.

sounds good to me. ive read rumors that he could fight at afflictions next show in oct or frank trigg in strikeforce(hope not). who in affliction could he fight thats a top 185 fighter, linland?

I’m now hearing Lindland at Affliction with Belfort claiming to have a broken hand from the Martin fight.

Why isn’t he headlining fights…he could KO Kim-Joke.
by mikeybear on Aug 14, 2008 6:16 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Im going to assume you are talking about Kimbo. There is no question that Kimbo would cripple that guy. Seriously, I dont know why so many people count him out. He has serious standup.
by enzo-enormous on Aug 14, 2008 6:49 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
actually he has decent technique…its funny how he is able to knock out fat ass and roidhead nobodies on the street yet a man like james thompson who was ko by brett rogers and has one of the weakest chins i ahve ever seen. kimbo could no put his lights out…for 3 round he pummeled him and nothing.roy would run over kimbo. i have respect for him trying to fight in MMA but giving him that much credit…is unfounded and just plain old band wagoning.

I am having a hard time even believing that there are people on mmamania that still haven’t realized that Kimbo is an absolute hack. He has no real skills, and will be killed in his first fight against a c level opponent. That is just the truth. Personally I don’t dislike the guy, and if I was him I would take the money too. He would be stupid not to. The point is that anyone who has trained, or even just watched mma, for over a year can see that he just doesn’t have what it takes.

He would not last a minute with any of the UFC heavyweights.

Chucks got a mohawk, Rampage has a big chain, he’s got a pot belly. Everybody wants to have a trademark these days.

Chuck has his trademark beer belly too.

It is almost proportionate considering Roy is a HW as well.
I see no problem with his War Belly!
by RipTheSystem on Aug 16, 2008 12:09 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Might have something to do with a guy named Brock Lesnar….
by The Beast on Aug 14, 2008 6:19 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Beast, thats exactly why!!! And there will be more HW’s that will turn the other way.
by JV on Aug 14, 2008 6:56 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Well, my feelings are that if he came to the UFC that may match him up with Lesnar right away to test him and if that is the case I think he would rather go to affliction and face a b level fighter, because you know he wouldn’t fight fedor… There are other hw’s that would punish him but I think Lesnar would get first crack. Just my opinion but that’s how I see it. Herring, Nog, Kongo, and even Mir would beat this dude.
by The Beast on Aug 14, 2008 8:43 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
yeah he is scared of lesnar, so he will go tp a promotion with fedor barnett aa sylvia.yeah he won’t fight them at first but if he wins he will get matched up with them, maybe he went to the promtion with the best hw’s in the world.

I heard he is having a C-section next after his Affliction fight.
by the_mexicutioner on Aug 14, 2008 8:30 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
He’s actually not that bad. He’s a better than average wrestler, exceptional take down defense, and above average punching power.
by Gregg on Aug 14, 2008 9:27 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
ive seen him fight. for him to look like that he has to be better than average.

I don’t understand, did they want him to lose weight?
by Michaelthebox on Aug 14, 2008 7:36 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
They wanted him to lose the War Belly.
by RipTheSystem on Aug 16, 2008 12:08 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
He needs it to keep the fighters out of reach.
by Diesel Power on Aug 14, 2008 8:45 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Maybe the dude just has a tiny pecker and doesn’t want to look at it.

His submission game is also very underrated. Hard to imagine but he’s got some jits and speed.

how does anyone’s gut get that “pregnant looking?” This almost reminded me of Chuck at the weigh ins before he fought Rampage…
