Let it be anyone, let it be anyone…by far the most explosive/exciting fighter in the lightweight division.

I agree…wanderlei at 155 would be lightning, damn weird looking, but lightning, nonetheless ;)

Its funny that wanderlei pronounces Rashad….Hashad!
by john on Aug 13, 2008 7:51 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
yeah, the “R” in portuguese when it is the first letter of a word is pronounced as an “H”. He’s learning, give him time :)

him and page has so much history in being rivals, I’d rather watch him vs page than shogun vs page.
by linx on Aug 13, 2008 9:58 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Do they have a version of this in english?

WANDY: “I want to fu_k chuck. errr fight chuck” LMAO.

Wandy is a true warrior…assuming that Rampage fights Shogun later this year, & Chuck beats Evans for another shot at the belt w/Forrest. I hope they give Wandy the winner of Silva vs Machida with the winner getting a title shot. I feel that Wandy has the style that would force a stand up brawl with Machida that would make for an interesting fight!
by Pierre on Aug 12, 2008 10:45 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
me too! I wanted the wandy vs machida fight taken place instead of the thiago fight. Wandy would gain a lot with a win against the dragon!
by linx on Aug 13, 2008 10:01 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think rampazge will whoop silva but I rather want to see the rua fight first I think rampage would destroy rua but both fights worth the money

WAnderlei will basically demolish everyone that the UFC places in his path. Did you see what happened to The Dean of Mean the last time. Dude was in a coma I think, poor Jardine…

Everyone except Chuck, right?
by the_mexicutioner on Aug 12, 2008 11:00 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yep, everyone except Chuck…But I think he’ll do better next time, hehe!!
by TheNegation on Aug 13, 2008 2:08 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think he’ll fight chuck smarter next time, Liddell’s going down! Besides, barring the possibility that maybe Chuck turns out to have the longevity that couture did, he’s got to start feeling his age soon and it’s gonna show in one of these fights coming up here real quick I think.

I HOPE and PRAY Chuck can beat Rashad, and come back and beat Forrest for the belt….then we can see Wandy vs. Chuck in a 5 round title war!!!! I also want to see Wanderlei vs Rampage again in the UFC maybe for a first title defense?
by Chadx23 on Aug 12, 2008 11:01 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I agree. I think all of that is very possible. I still think Chuck takes Wandy in the rematch though. I would also like to see Wandy vs. Rampage 3, but right now I think Wandy would kill him. Rampage needs to get his head straight. Probably the best time for Chuck to fight Rampage though. haha
by naturalshadow on Aug 13, 2008 3:53 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
word, that fight would be awesome, i think Wandi takes it in a five rounder, chuck was done after 3. he had punched himself out and Wandi was just walking him down like the terminator. thats why chuck took him down he was gassed, if that had gone 2 more rounds Wandi by KO
by The_Cannibal on Aug 13, 2008 2:14 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
How can anyone not like this guy. I think Machida would take Wandy and I think it would be a frustrating fight to watch for us fans. I hope that fight doesn’t have to happen. Wandy vs Chuck for a title would be great though.
by Punch You in the Ovaries on Aug 12, 2008 11:03 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I think Wandi would take it to Machida and put him in a coma. I would love to see that fight, but we will have to wait because Thiago gets first crack and as my boy linx says, Thiago FTW!
by BNF on Aug 12, 2008 11:31 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think Wandy has the best style to crush Machida. Eventually Wandy would force him to commit and stop running (being elusive) and then crush him.
by naturalshadow on Aug 13, 2008 3:55 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Machida would have a great chance at submitting wanderlei
by john on Aug 13, 2008 7:13 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Wanderlei’s submissions are pretty underrated.. he’s been in with some great jits guys and still come out on top. Most of his loss’s are due to strikes cause of his brawlin nature. Either way, it’d either be a great fight, or Machida running for 3 rds and jabbing his way to a decision.
by O damn he got caught on Aug 13, 2008 9:52 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
his english is kinda improving, better then other interviews.

He doesn’t want to fight Rampage until he is ready. That is why we are hearing about Rampage vs. Shogun. He wants another big name, but most are booked up. I wouldn’t mind seeing him fight Rich Franklin (assuming he beats Hamill) in December. There is a big name that would move him closer to a title shot.
by BNF on Aug 12, 2008 11:22 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I didn’t think of Rich. I would love to see that.
by Punch You in the Ovaries on Aug 12, 2008 11:59 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah but fighting Franklin would move him closer to a title shot at MW. And I can’t see him against Anderson anytime soon… unless they aren’t as close as they once were. He seems to be in Maia’s back pocket now.
by JRK on Aug 13, 2008 9:10 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
No, Rich is fighting at 205 in his next fight.

Nobody has brought this up but I think they are trying to set up Franklin vs Henderson on the Superbowl card. Franklin vs Wanderlei doesn’t make sense to me. With all the booking tht has taken place, I have no clue what there going to do for a opponent for Wanderlei.

“For me a fight with him is a please because I don’t like him.” That’s one of the funniest lines. He says it so easily. I’m glad to hear he’s fighting, but it sucks that we have do wait until December, I hope he fights for a #1 contender spot so that hopefully we get to see him 3x next year.

Sherdog the best website??? Come on Wand, this site is where it’s at!
by theCloser on Aug 13, 2008 12:13 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I can’t wait to see Wandi fight again. I think that Rampage and Shogun will face off and Wandi might get a title shot. I only say that he might get a title shot because there is no one else for him to fight. Shogun and Rampage would be having a rematch. Plus, Rampage was only beaten by Shogun once. They both recently lost to Forrest Griffin too. It would make sense for them to fight just to see who is lower on the totem poll after they both lost to the same competitor.

RyanHobbs, I noticed your Sunday discussion topic was chosen and posted for debate on a certain website in competition with MmaMania … traitor!!!! hahaha Just messin’ with you. I gotta agree with you though; I always kinda thought of the WEC as an unofficial minor-leagues for the UFC anyway. You know how when a player in MLB isn’t doing so hot, sometimes they drop down to the minors to prove they still got it? The UFC should follow a similar pattern. Imagine the matchups! Imagine the fighters that Zuffa would still have under contract! BTW, any good fighters coming out of Alaska?
by RedDog on Aug 13, 2008 5:06 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
hahahaha that’s funny that you noticed that. I discuss stuff wherever there is news haha. Ne wayz. I don’t really see any good fighters coming out around here right now. The only fighters that I can even think of that have made it to the UFC is Sam Hoger and Rob Yundt. They aren’t looking like top fighters right now. But yeah I certainly think that the WEC idea was a logical way to go about things.

they won’t anounce the fight before chuck fight rashad. but if Montreal gets this card it will be CCCRRAZZZZZYYYY!! LA TABARNACK!

Wandy is an exciting fighter but I still love Rampage. I admit he beat dominated Rampage twice but there were no testing for steroids in Japan and rumor has it 50% of the fighters in Pride were using. You don’t have to take my word for it but thats what I know. Also, Rampage used to train with Jiu-Jitsu fighters so his stand up wasn’t as polished as it is now.
Rampage at 100% would be almost unstoppable. The only question now is he 100% from all that has happen? Alot happened in that week after the fight with Forrest and I thought there was a possibility we weren’t even going to see Rampage anymore. To see him back in action so soon kinda makes me nervous. Does anyone know who he trains with now?
I think Rampage will destroy Wandy if he looks as ripped as he did when he fought Chuck. When he fought Forrest he looked a little on the soft side but he still gave Forrest a battle.
Wanderlei is a legend and I can’t take that away from him. His fights are always exciting and explosive. Its funny because now he seems so nice and soft spoken outside the cage. I never got to see that side of him in Pride.

Wanderlei is everything we all love in this sport. Warrior 1st class. I agree that it doesn’t matter who he fights – it will be amazing.

Wand is awesome.
He looks like the stuff prison nightmares are made of, but seems like the nicest guy around. He ALWAYS comes to fight. I’m looking forward to watching him fight whoever they put in front of him.

The best story about Silva was from Don Frye on the Pride Decade DVD.
He knew that Silva was such a badass so when he saw him in the parking lot he assumed that they might as well fight and get it over with.
Silva walked up to Frye, said hi and offered him a piece of gum.
Wanderlei Silva is a class act and a total warrior. He deserves to be the LHW champ.
