Nice camera phone video! This chick sounds nuts in the interview Cofield did with her last week. She looks a lot older than 29 too.

That was funny. Dana’s been taking lessons from Joe Rogan on how to deal with hecklers.

I’m in Wisconsin, I’m a Pats and Cowboys fan and was really looking forward to an amazing Superbowl last year, that blew up and a team I can’t stand took a great Cowboys-Packers, Cowboys-Patriots game away from me. For the record I can’t stand the Packers and I can’t stand Farve and anyone is allowed to take their anger out on me about their “star” player leaving their team to go ruin the career of yet another quarterback

Lol nice but that just is not possible here, my girl is a Packers fan and it drives me crazy. People here in Wisconsin will attack you for wearing any other team than the Packers. If I had a dollar for every Brett Farve shirt I’ve seen I swear I’d be betting money like Stinky

we were going to go to the raiders pats this year, but there were like 20 fights in the good seats this weekend in oakland, so my wife has expressed her concern for my life (I won’t back down) it’s a prisoon atmosphere in oakland. We’ll be going to 49ers/pats, and thinking of flying to san diego!

FOr those of you who have not watched the fight video of Jon JOnes vs. GUsmao from UFC 87, check it out. It was a very entertaining fight. JOnes went for many crazy moves like spinning elbows, back kicks, a real nice takedown. It was sloppy but very exciting!

THe video is either on cagepotato or fiveouncesofpain, I forget which one, but def. 1 of the 2

duece I’ll be what I want and if you’d like your welcome to try and do something about it. They are in different division and I have no problem with liking both teams. I never back down on a team whether or not they are winners or losers. I have supported the Cowboys since before their dominance in the 90’s through their downfall and up to today, for the Patriots its a little different I started rooting for them around 2000 or 2001 seasons but I won’t back down for them. When they face each other I’m just hoping for a close score that shows how dominant both teams are. You can do what you want but I have 2 games to watch a week and twice as much trash to talk so I don’t see how I lose.

Never back down preview looked too lame for me the line “This is some of the best mixed martial arts you’ll ever see” was way too corney for me. I’m sitting there like, so this kid is telling this other high school kid that an underground group of high school mma is the best mma we’re going to see? Riiiiiiiite…

You should check Never Back Down out, I thought almost word for word exactly the same as you. But my mate (who has never seen MMA) couldnt stop telling me how good it was, I was like “O sure”, so he lended me a pirate copy and, trust me, it is corny, but very fun to watch. A decent movie production wise, but I think it is a great movie overall. Lots of MA in there. In the main fight at the end there are triangles, armbars, I think I saw a proper RNC, not the semi-RNC you often see. Very good and highly, highly recommended.

TUESDAY MORNING CONVERSATION****
MMAMATH, usually it doesn’t really work out much, but before you jump on me, bear with me. GSP/BJ. Both have beaten sherk, hughes, serra. Both have lost to hughes. BJ finished sherk handily and so did GSP. A young not dedicated BJ submitted a then unstoppable Hughes in the first round while Hughes beat George easily in their first meeting. Since then george has beaten hughes twice while BJ ( was dominating hughes) lost. Serra KO’d george then lost badly. It all adds up to an incredible rematch. we’re going to all have different opinions on this fight, but my X factor is this. BJ is now dedicated to the fight game. He lost the first fight yet dominated the first. He is hungry and very (overly) confident. How will George react or how will his mind take BJ’s confidence? BJ coming in to avenge a loss is a dangerous man to be in there with…and george is always dangerous. I for one can’t wait to see BJ move up and down to defend two titles!

  • TUESDAY AFTERNOON CONVERSATION ****

With the Olympics in full swing, I started to think what if one day MMA was in the Olympics picture. So then I started to think about who would I want to represent the USA. Who would get the gold in each weight class. Which country would bring the best head to head matches anyways I had some fun thinking about it, what your guys thoughts.

My Picks for U.S.A.
Heavy Brock SAY WHAT YOU WANT .. I HATE RANDY and WHO ELSE IS THEIR
Light Heavy Rampage
Middle Henderson
Welter Hazelett
Light Penn

by PHIL on Aug 12, 2008 2:05 PM EDT up reply actions

wow, good thought, but the olympics IMO are not as relevant as they once were. I didn’t watch the opening ceremony and watched the last 2 minutes of USA/china Basketball. That a way to be origianal and have a conversation too, I actually liked it!

by kevin doesn't know shit on Aug 12, 2008 2:33 PM EDT up reply actions

Have you ever watched olympic boxing? It is horrible. I would hate to see how the IOC butchers MMA. I just don’t think it would be possible to have GOOD MMA in the olympics.

by DDT on Aug 12, 2008 2:38 PM EDT up reply actions

I agree but I’ll take Fitch at WW and throw in a FW division for Fabor. As far as Brock for Heavy, maybe.. I’d like to see him rematch Mir, if he gets caught in a sub again then I take Mir for Heavy.

by O damn he got caught on Aug 12, 2008 2:43 PM EDT up reply actions

Fitch at WW sounds better!

by JV on Aug 12, 2008 2:47 PM EDT up reply actions

Kev, you need to catch that GSP/Hughes I fight again. Hughes was by no means dominating that first round up until the arm bar.

And that is coming from “Mr. GSP Hater” himself, as some would like to proclaim.

And for the Olympics guy, I am a HUGE fan of McLovin but to rank him as the #1 American WW is just insane. There are at least 7 ranked ahead of him.

by ViolentMike on Aug 12, 2008 4:02 PM EDT up reply actions

the olympics have been on a decline, but so far they are off to a great start with real high ratings.

by roy on Aug 12, 2008 4:03 PM EDT up reply actions

Ohh I didn’t mean to put McLovin I meant Hughes…..
That is a JK. I do Like Hughes but not to represent at this time.

I did not rank him #1, I just said I would want him if I where to choose the team. Am I biased? Yes, I just do not like any other US WW better than him. Who would you choose over him? I have already seen the result of Fitch and GSP. The only other WW I would choose would be is Diaz.

by PHIL on Aug 12, 2008 4:20 PM EDT up reply actions

  1. american hw would be josh barnett gold or silver
    lhw rampage gold or silver
    mw henderson silver or bronze
    ww fitch silver
    lw bj gold
    fw faber gold

thats who i would send and what medal i think they would get

by john on Aug 12, 2008 7:00 PM EDT up reply actions

The sport would be over if it went to the olympics and it would have to be amateur as well so all you’re favourite fighters wouldn’t be allowed there. All the boxers are amateurs anyway so I’m guessing it would be the same pretence for MMA. Helmets, no beatings, it would be better to have BJJ in the olympics and let them go until they get submissions, that would be all good. They’ve got wrestling so I would see why they couldn’t have BJJ its a lot more interesting to watch.

by linx on Aug 12, 2008 11:53 AM EDT up reply actions

I agree. I’ve never been a big Tito fan and have become even less of a fan of him as of late, but when he was on top of the UFC LHW division he was the main reason people became interested in american MMA. People who liked him bought PPV’s to see him win as well as hopefully watch him lose, and at the same time both the fans and haters became aware of all the other good fighters the UFC had. Love him or hate him, (IMO) business wise he was one of the greatest things to happen to the UFC.

by the_mexicutioner on Aug 12, 2008 11:54 AM EDT up reply actions

I think people miss the fact that they allowed him to dodge his competition ie. Liddell for so long and this was the only reason he was on top. Had he faced Liddell earlier he would have been nothing more than he is today lol getting spanked mid fight also must not have been the greatest feeling knowing he’s the only guy who ever got such a move put on him.

by Cogito Ergo Sum on Aug 12, 2008 12:59 PM EDT up reply actions

IMO, it could have been anyone, the marketing and the promo is all the company. Tito just had to show up and perform, anyone in his position performing well and picking and choosing his opponents for wins at that time could have been the catalyst for the beginning of the UFC’s break through.

by fxdfp on Aug 12, 2008 12:37 PM EDT reply actions

Dana made Tito? Are you retarded? I think Tito is just as big an idiot as everyone else but Tito was a top MMA fighter and a pioneer of the sport long before Dana White was in the picture. Dana White may have made the UFC what it is today but he did not make Tito Ortiz. That is absurd.

by DH15 on Aug 12, 2008 12:39 PM EDT reply actions

It’s not absurd, it’s the truth. Unless Tito went out, hung his own posters, did his own commercials, set the venue etc… he didn’t make himself. The UFC built his career, if it wasn’t for Dana signing him, paying him, and sticking his ugly mug up as the poster boy for the UFC back then, he wouldn’t be where he is today. Take Tito Ortiz out of the picture, back when he fought Wanderlei for the UFC LHW championship, substitute other said fighter in for Tito. Are you telling me Wandi couldn’t have carried the company to success given that position?? It’s crazy to credit Tito Ortiz as a pioneer of the sport when he’s not even about the sport, Ortiz is all about collecting a pay check..

by O damn he got caught on Aug 12, 2008 2:10 PM EDT up reply actions

AS A MATTER OF FACT, DANA DID MAKE TITO. BEFORE DANA WHITE WAS INVOLVED WITH THE ZUFFA PURCHASE OF THE UFC, HE WAS BOTH TITO ORTIZ AND CHUCK LIDDELL’S MANAGERS.

Sorry for the caps…

by ViolentMike on Aug 12, 2008 4:06 PM EDT up reply actions

Since when does a guy learn how to fight from his manager? Did Don King teach Tyson how to fight when he was knocking everyone out that was put in front of him in the 80’s? A manager “manages” the fighter, takes care of their business affairs and makes sure they get the best fights for their client. Dana White did not teach Tito or Liddel how to fight anymore than A-Rod learned to swing a bat from Scott Borus or T.O. learned to catch passes from Drew Rosenhaus. Give me a break.

by DH15 on Aug 12, 2008 4:49 PM EDT up reply actions

No one’s saying that he taught them how to fight, we’re saying that he is directly responsible for Tito Ortiz fame/media success and for marketing/selling the name “Tito Ortiz”. Main stream wouldn’t know who Tito Ortiz was if it wasn’t for Dana White. Dana White is the reason Ortiz gets to pick and choose which org he wants to fight for, and why their scrambling to sign him for the selling power of his name. IMO Dana is a miracle worker cause Ortiz has never been the most exciting fighter to watch (don’t get me wrong he’s had good fights, but he’s never been the MOST exciting).

Dana White is a marketing genius. There is no denying that. But I am so sick of hearing people blow smoke up his ass like he is a God. He is an egomaniac and the constant spoon feeding of Dana White ego juice makes me sick. There are plenty of businessmen out there that could have done what Dana White did. But there is well under 1% of people out there that can fight like Tito Ortiz or any other fighter in the UFC for that matter. The UFC is where it is at because of the fighters, Dana White (not the only guy who made the UFC a success by the way) just knew how to market them.

Best girl ever I love her!! Tito lost to Machida and they knew he would because Tito didn’t have the answer to his style.. and they set that fight up only because of that.. why didn’t he make his boy Chuck fight Machida and let Tito have his rematch with Rashad? because he is afraid! It’s all about Danas personal feelings, jealousy is a very ugly thing!

by RoB on Aug 12, 2008 4:03 PM EDT reply actions

Because:

a.) Chuck was injured
b.) Chuck is in line for a title challenge (contrat stipulation, I believe), Machida needs another win or two before a title shot
c.) Tito was never going to sign another contract with Zuffa. Thus, Zuffa didn’t care who he fought as long as a win by Tito didn’t screw up a title shot for another fighter (a la Rashad).
d.) to show that Tito is not all that in the Octagon anymore. Like you said, no answer for Machida’s style

So basically any excuse will work for you because you know Cuck is has no answer for Machida. Now I get it and Chuck is fighting a smaller fighter who plays into Chuck’s style unlike Machida. So as Bob said before your abcd comment.

No. Rob asked why didn’t Dana (Joe Silva) make Chuck fight Machida. Only point a and b deal with Chuck at all. Moreover, point a. puts an end to any line of questioning as to why Chuck didn’t fight Macida on that particular card (injury). At no point in my answer did I infer that Chuck has no answer to Machida. I simply. pointed out why Tito was fighting Machida as opposed to Chuck.

Ok Tito didn’t want to sign a contract because he knew he wouldn’t get the money he deserved, and because Dana has a beef with Tito and thinks that Tito is an idiot for wanting more $$, he would make sure Tito got opponents that would be stylistically bad for him in every fight.. there are many matchups that he would have a better chance at winning than the Machida fight! .. And it’s hard to be succesful and focused if your boss is against you! even now that he’s gone he’s still talking smack! bad businessman and no proffesionalism whatsoever

Kenny Florian’s “MMA LIVE” show is really clopse to getting a time slot on ESPN or ESPN 2. Its about time mma goes mainstream and gets its very own show on ESPN!!!!
