No one in the UFC will be able to beat lesnar. He’s just to strong and athletic and has that wreslting background. All he has to do is train in his sub defense. Fedor is the only person that would be able to beat him.

Nog anyone?
Come on man be serious. Anyone with good Jits will cause him serious trouble. GG, Werdum, Nog, Mir to name but a few.
Yeah he is a beast but he did not show me anymore ground skills this time out. I mean how hard is this guy training his BJJ, isn’t lesson 1 to get your hooks in when you’ve got your opponants back?
He looked like a chump on the floor, a big strong chump but a chump never the less.

“Anyone with good Jits will cause him serious trouble.”
Lay-and-pray can nullify jits. Just look at guys like Koschek and Sherk. They only lose against fighters they can’t take down (Hughes, GSP, Penn). But who can stop Brock’s takedowns? IMO It’s only Fedor. I’m not saying Brock will only lose to Fedor, but beating Lesnar is not as simple as having jits. The more experience he gets, the harder he’ll be to sub. The best strategy against Lesnar’s charging attack is a Machida-style elusive counter-striking.

No one in the UFC will beat Lesner? You mean besides Frank Mir.

Yes, I meant besides Mir. I wanted to have the first comment so I didn’t want to waste time by stating the obvious. Had I done I might have been second like you.

Slow down! I am NOW a HUGE Lesnar fan, but lets be realistic. He can still be stopped by guys with good jits that are able to withstand some punishment. If I were Brock I would stay away from match ups against:
Nogueira
Mir
Werdum
Gonzaga
Everyone Else can COME GET SOME!!!!
I wouldnt mind seeing Brock beat Randy’s greey ass like he stole something!

Sorry i just realised i pretty much posted the same comment as you above.
100% agree… anyone with good BJJ will cause Brock fits. Particularly GG because he has got the size as well.
by Nick J on Aug 12, 2008 9:22 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Nick J: I too think that Gonzaga is a very dangerous fight for Lesnar at this stage of his career! Not only does he have great Jits and size, but he also is very powerful and it will take some power to pull off certain submissions against Brock.
Brock vs. Kongo will be his next fight. Although its a stylistic nightmare for Kongo, he is still a top 10 UFC heavyweight, so Brock beating him will continue to move him up the ranks. If Kongo wants a “titl” shot then he is going to have to improve on his game before stepping into the cage with Brock! Kongo is going to get abused and he doesnt not have the toughness to not get finished by Brock, like Heath did!

I just dont see it with GG. He always seems to gas out. I dont see him being able to withstand the constant pressure. Randy messed him up with his dirty boxing and his nose destroying slam. I also saw him gas against Werdum. He caves under pressure, bottom line.
I could see the Kongo fight, but I dont see him being able to handle Brock on the ground. Kongo has decent standup but Herring flew across the ring when he got hit with the straight right. I see Kongo trying to bang, then taking a big shot. Herring got a really good knee in against Brock followed with a couple pretty clean punches and it didnt do anything to him. He just tossed one back and put his face back in the mat.
He will be a dominator until he fights someone with skills like Fedor. We will just have to wait and see because I dont see that fight for some time now.
Also, Nog, he could do it. The problem with Nog is that he always takes a beat down and then somehow survives and gets the win… If he could get past the beatdown again, he could do it. Submission would have to be a leg one, tho.

fred are you on drugs Herring was hand picked for him since he has no ground game mir stopped him quickly and any of the top graplers will do the same
by wayne on Aug 11, 2008 11:29 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
He had no ground game not has. Think about it the guy trains full time and everyone knows he can wrestle and it looks like he can punch from what we saw on saturday. So what does he spend his time on? Sub defense. We’re talking like 20 hours a week on sub defense. That’s all he has to improve on at this put. And by the way I have been off drugs for 20 months now.

Yeah grats Fred. Keep it up. I just quit smoking 6 days ago, so I understand the effort that has to be put into something like that
I agree with you also. I personally feel that Mir was handed a gift from God or something. He was getting a pounding and then took advantage of an amateur mistake. They never should have been stood back up anyways. I really think it would be different if they fought again. He has to be learning something. There is also no question that it would be extremely difficult to step away from the straight wrestling aspect and go straight to jits. If he can just learn some subs and practice his escapes… he will be a really tough opponent for anyone.

“To be honest, halfway in the third round I got up and walked out of the arena and went to my hotel. The fight wasn’t the most exciting and I wanted to get out of there before everyone else was getting up to leave.”
This is a quote from Matt ‘The Tool’ Hughes on his blog. He is refering to the GSP/Fitch fight. Typical Hughes dickhead mentality.
Fox News has a ton of great MMA stories. Kind of surprising.

I thought it wahs matt “the dickhead” huges. Anyways, he knows he can’t beat GSP or for that matter any other top 10 welterwieght anymore so he is just jealous.

I think it is Funny everyone who thinks BJ will beat GSP, What a waste of time. Cant we move on. BJ did nothing after the first min in their last fight. GSP will finish him this time GARANTEED!!!! THEN WHAT"oh uh well BJ wasnt really ready this time he forgot to train" “lets do it a third time”
CANT WE MOVE ON???
by b-real on Aug 11, 2008 11:35 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I think it will be much closer than that. Right now I would give a slight advantage to bj. Even if you disagree with that you still have to admit bj is the most likely person to beat gsp know.
by fred on Aug 12, 2008 12:10 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I meant slight advantage to gsp.
by dana is cheap on Aug 12, 2008 12:14 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Huge advantage belongs to GSP. Don’t forget, on top of everything GSP can do, it will be a 5 rounder…

Penn will abuse GSP on the feet, that fight has lay and prey decision written all over it.
by O damn he got caught on Aug 12, 2008 11:01 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Doubtful. I see GSP training more than ever to shut Penn up. I like Penn and GSP but I see Penn getting a beat down. I really do. It will be good for maybe the first round, then its all downhill. Penn will gas. Happens everytime. It will be much harder for him to gain weight just to fight GSP. He will be weight drained and that will make his stamina even worse. Just not a good plan for Penn. Maybe they can do it at a catch weight. That should even the odds a bit eh?

what a lackluster show! the huerta vs. florian fight almost put me to sleep. lesnar’s first round was exciting but after that a pretty boring fight that should’ve been stood up a few times in the last 2 rounds, but miragliotta was the ref so that kind of incompetence is expected. gsp and fitch put on a pretty good show, it was one sided but at least it was 5 rounds of action. emerson’s KO was in the opening seconds was the highlight of the night. all in all one of the worst cards i’ve seen in years. on paper the match-ups looked good, but they didn’t live up to the hype

Thats harsh, the Mcdonald fight was awsome to watch. Added into that the guts of fitch, the outright scaryness of Brock i think it was a good night of fights.

He’ll have to deal with a guy who’s stronger, faster, better jitsu, and taller than sherk. Both of them have come along way and GSP will take it. BJ will go undefeated at 155 for the rest of his career.

After all the segments on Fox News condemning MMA and its brutality, they now have an MMA segment?

I think he died of internal bleeding from all those knees to the kidneys. Or maybe it was the punch he took in the eye from the incredible hulk? He doesnt feel “chipper” that is for sure. haha
