New beginnings: Affliction signs IFL lightweight Chris Horodecki

Tom Atencio has been snatching up IFL refuse like he's browsing an estate sale.
His latest score is lightweight superstar Chris Horodecki, who is sure to bring some fire to the land of big-name heavyweights when he debuts at Affliction 'Day of Reckoning' on October 11.
Horodecki (12-1) debuted with the International Fight League back in June of 2006, going 8-1 and looking sensational in the process. At just twenty years old, Horodecki has already made a name for himself in mixed martial arts, evident in the courtship that followed the demise of the IFL.
Among the suitors were WEC, Affliction and the American Fight League (AFL). Even World Victory Road got in on the action, who considered Horodecki as a potential opponent for lightweight diety Takanori Gomi at August's 'Sengoku' event.
While an opponent has yet to be named, Affliction still has plenty of options, both stateside and overseas. I would expect an announcement in the coming weeks, but with the way Affliction has been moving to get this card assembled, it could happen in a matter of days.
Affliction "Day of Reckoning" takes place on October 11 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada and features the main event of Josh "The Babyface Assassin" Barnett (23-5) vs. Andrei "The Pitbull" Arlovski (13-5).

This kid is something else, with the right training and fights he could be a Top 10 P4P someday.

Yeah, someday, but not just yet. He never really fought top-shelf talent in the IFL. I think that’s the reason why the WEC courted him and not the UFC. Give him a couple/few years and he’ll be ready for the big boys.

No doubt that this kid has an extremely bright future ahead of him. I wouldnt mind seeing Affliction match him up against Savant YOung.
WAR pOLISH HAMMER!

A rematch with Shad Lierley would be great also.

yeah, they were great fights. Shirley is tough! THank GOD THe Polish Hammer isnt led to be slaughter by Gomi, that would have been a disaster!
Question: has he ever fought Savant YOUng in the IFL? Savant is already signed to Affliction so it would be a feasable match up!

I dont think he has, but I think Horodecki would beat young a lot quicker than Hominic did at Affliction.

so do I, but it would be an exciting match up stylistically! Imagine Chris when he is like 25 years old? he will be a MONSTER! I think he would hold a title some day!

He’s just of Polish heritage, although he has yet to get a giant tattoo proclaiming it.

It’s quite scary, he has the face of an 8 year old! I never followed the IFL so i’ve not heard of him.

The nicknamne “Babyface Assassin” would have been perfect for him if it wasnt already taken by Barnett.

he is a great striker with alot of heart he still needs to work on the ground game a bit but he is very young and should be a great fighter in time.

(not trying to offend anyone or downplay this fighters talent) but he looks like a 12 year old in the face. haha I just thought it was kind of funny. Good luck to him though.

In other Affliction news:
Neither Tim Sylvia nor ben Rothwell will compete at Affliction’s 2nd show. However both could still take part in the organizations 3rd show in march on the East Coast (Hopefully Atlantic City)!

JOHN. damn john, whos left? a.a./barnett for sure i think, tito hasnt signed yet and vitor may not fight linland. signing heiron, hodecki, and nelson to fight just make them look like the ifl jr.

BW: Relax, it will still bne a great card:
Tito will fight Babalu, the only reason it is held up is because i dont think he is allowed to negotiate yet with other companies because of his UFC contract makes him wait like 30 days after it expires before negotiations start. But Its pretty much a done deal and Tito will fight Babalu/
Affliction 2:
Arlovski vs. Barnett: winner is promised a title shot against Fedor
Buentello vs. Roy Nelson (solid fight)
Tito vs. Babalu (I promise this fight will happen)
Nogueira vs. Vladimir the Janitor (awesome fight!)
Lindland vs. Belfort (but I dont know if Vitor will be cleared).
This card will be very interesting by the time its made official and I think it will easily sell more then 100,000 ppvs!

oh yeah. i almost forgot about lil nog and the janitor. if this card stands im still in. i think it will hit the 100k ppv sales mark this time as well. having it in vegas is a better idea than some think. with alot of former ufc stars, their live gate should be improved as well.

thanks but its not like I have some inside sources or anything like that (actually I have 1 but he only hits me with news like once every 6 months). I just frequent different mma news sites during the day and I pass along info that I think that other mma fans like me would like to know about. GIves us something a lil extra to talk about! I get news from as many credible sites as I can, but I only do my blogging on this site! No other site compares to mma mania!
Thanks for the props, lots of people on this site hate me for it! lol
