b.j. is hawaiian. do hawaiians consider themselves asian-americans?
by b.w. on Aug 6, 2008 1:29 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
No, hawaiian’s are hawaiian, I think their closer to an indian/tribal culture than they are to an asian culture. I could be mistaken..

thats what i thought as well. maybee this dude thinks b.j. is from japan or china. irst and foremost he is an american imo.
by b.w. on Aug 6, 2008 2:07 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
They are considered polynesian I believe. That lumps them in with other island culture around Southeast Asia.
Not what you generally consider Asian.

My eyes might look a little on the closed side when I puff, does that make me Asian too?
by ViolentMike on Aug 6, 2008 4:52 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I saw them officer, it was a couple of “ASIAN GUYS!”
by Jrandolph on Aug 6, 2008 7:52 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Calm down there buddy. Last I checked, BJ Penn is from Hawaii. Do you know in which Country Hawaii is located? U.S. of AMERICA!!! That would make BJ Penn an Asian American! I said Asian. I was referring to the Japanese Bantamweight fighters that refuse to fight Faber. Are you on high blood pressure medication? That was funny how you spelled dum as well. And how do you know I’m not of Asian decent?

Jay Dee “B.J.” Penn (born December 13, 1978 in Kailua, Hawaii) is an AMERICAN professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner who is currently the Ultimate Fighting Championship Lightweight Champion. He is known for his flexibility, balance, proficient striking, high-level of BJJ and general well-roundedness.

Aren’t all the brothers named B.J. or something?
by the_mexicutioner on Aug 6, 2008 1:49 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
All named Jay, or something like that, B.J stands for Baby Jay, cause he’s the youngest.

I am pretty sure BJ Penn is part Korean or something on top of being Samoan.

Hey Kahaluu Caz!!!!! U should apologize to RedDog for your reallllly rookie comment. Or at least find another angle to bash RedDog if u didn’t like what he wrote.
by THORAZINE on Aug 6, 2008 5:08 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Im hawaiian guys and yes he has hawaiian but also korean, have you seen his mother. In hawaii most of us have asian blood in us due to the asians who migrated in the past to hawaii, if BJ was pure hawaiian trust me you would know it. So yes he is asian technically. Redog it’s all good! i do apoligize for jumping the gun and did not mean to fuel any fires, PEACE!

OJR, the comment was never meant to turn into a cultural or racial thing. I was trying to say that I want to see Faber fight these Japanese fighters around his weight class that get a lot of hype and I think he would win. I’m sorry if anyone was offended.
by RedDog on Aug 6, 2008 4:02 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Only the over sensitive were offended, I knew exactly what u were refering to. If u said something like “all the over-hyped Japan fighters” no one would have over-reacted.
I would luv to see the Japan fighters fight here.

RedDog-
No biggie. Your last post cleared that up nicely.

Thanx guys…I definately won’t make that mistake again. I didn’t think the terminology through well enough because I wanted to be first to post :)

Rampage might be charged with manslaughter in the hit and run the other day. A lady had a miscarriage. dont know how to spell that sorry, but im not sorry
by dtrain on Aug 6, 2008 12:32 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Mania tell this dude you posted this like a week ago, but it said nothing about manslaughter.
by BNF on Aug 6, 2008 12:39 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I read about that and I think it’s complete bullshit, from what I understand he side swiped her car, doing no physical damage to her what so ever, she has a miscarriage and it’s his fault??? How the hell do they figure, women can have miscarriages for all different kinds of reasons this chick is a gold digger, it’s very unfortunate what happened to her, but it really doesn’t sound like she has any business blaming this on rampage. I’d like to know if she’s a smoker/non smoker, drinker etc..
by O damn he got caught on Aug 6, 2008 1:31 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
First, smoking and drinking can cause birth defects, not miscarriages. Second, if she has a pile of medical reports that show she and her baby were healthy up until Rampage hit her then he has a serious problem on his hands. Most states, California included, have laws protecting fetuses. At the very least she will win a civil suit against him.
by PW on Aug 6, 2008 4:10 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
True PW. Just because you are a fan of a fighter, doesn’t mean he didn’t majorly fuck up. I like Rampage, but I side with the victim on this one. I don’t think that Rampage will face a manslaughter charge, but he should have to pay for his actions.

The Faber-Pulver WEC event was on TSN. But this past weekend, WEC was on TSN ‘alternative feed’. Whatever that is…

Who the HELL is “aryanny” ?? They got all those known mma fighters introducing themselves and then some random pornstar skank just shows up and says her name… like anyone cares.

Was it the ever so popular and gorgeous ariani celeste, UFC ring girl
by James S on Aug 6, 2008 1:06 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
she is a ring girl, do you watch ufc at all?
by Mans on Aug 6, 2008 1:07 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
it was arianny, the ufc ring girl, she is more popular than alot of the fighters, watch a fight or two, she is LITERALLY shown all the time, and most of all she is a classy dame, no need for name calling lol
by Dave on Aug 6, 2008 1:39 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Plus Goldy feels the need to mention her name with the adjective “Beatiful” in front of her name every single time the camera shows her.
“And there’s the beatiful Arianny”

Urijah Faber is arguably the most marketable fighter in North America. He is a very exciting and talented fighter and he has a very charismatic personality. He is confident without being arrogant. He is laid back but tough. If Faber beats Brown (likely), I’m not sure who else there is for him to fight in the WEC – get Miguel Torres to go up a weight class? He is kind of in the same situation as Condit. I think that some re-alignment between the UFC and the WEC would be a good idea.

There is no featherweight division in the UFC, as far as 145ers go Fabor is the best right now. If he clears out the division then thats it, there isn’t anyone left to step up to the plate, he’s either going to move up a weight class or he’s just going to sit there and dominate.

dtrain, your knowledge of MMA is really remarkable. I, for one, am amazed how you can post irrelevent material that is a week old and at the same time post it incorrectly. Going so far as to make accusations of a very serious criminal charge to the former LHW Champion… Well done Sir.

Urijah wants to fight BJ Penn, huh?. . . I say let Urijah have BJ, that’ll knock him down a few pegs. Better yet let Urijah move up to lightweight, enter the UFC, and lose all marketability losing to the likes of Penn, Sherk, Huerta, Florian, Franca, and Griffin.
by halgnuts on Aug 6, 2008 2:49 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
he said he would fight b.j. if it came down to it. he didnt call b.j. out or anything. he’s trying to say its buisness, nothing personal.
by b.w. on Aug 6, 2008 4:02 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I really don’t think Urijah wants to move up to 155 lbs, he’s too small. Why not have those guys cut to 145 lbs… that would be more fair.
by THORAZINE on Aug 6, 2008 5:19 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Brown is a very good figher. Has beaten Yves Edwards.. Guy definitely has potential to win, but I’d put money on Faber.
by Luppers on Aug 6, 2008 3:24 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, but he beat Yves Edwards when Yves head wasn’t in the game. It was right in the midst of his span of 5 losses in 6 fights. He was losing to anyone and he just didn’t care.
by ViolentMike on Aug 6, 2008 5:00 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Tyson Griffin called out Urijah that he was scared to move up to LW and face him, LMAO!!!!!!!!! I bet the ranch Faber would pound him within rd 1. Yeah, Faber lost to him, but I don’t see that happening again. Faber is not even near his peak, and very dangerous!! SAcTown!!!!! Anyone heard of talk of Clay Guida moving down to 145 to face Faber?
by DirtbagHtr on Aug 6, 2008 9:39 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Tyson Griffin is calling out Urijah at the same time he is ducking Nate Diaz. Nate has been screaming for a fight with Tyson. Urijah would be giving up quite a bit of size if he moved to 155, but Frankie Edgar isn’t exactly a big LW and he beat Tyson. Urijah is on top of his game and I think he could KO Tyson Griffin if he decided to move up.
by Sacto on Aug 6, 2008 11:24 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
The Diaz bro’s are screaming to fight everyone. Anyone that underestimates Tyson Griffin has got rocks in his head.

Why doesn’t Faber move up to a real weight class? I guess he is content fighting a bunch of no-names. His only real test has been Pulver. And even then, Pulver is way out of his prime. Yawn. I don’t believe the hype for this kid.
