UFC Countdown 87 for 'Seek and Destroy' on Spike TV this week

"UFC Countdown" to the major "Seek and Destroy" pay-per-view (PPV) event this weekend will debut on Spike TV on Thursday, August 7 at 11 p.m. ET.
The hour-long special presentation will provide a glimpse into the preparation and training camps of the fighters set to headline perhaps the biggest mixed martial arts show of the summer.
Here’s the official description:
"See Georges 'Rush' St-Pierre as he trains in his hometown to defend his UFC Welterweight Championship at UFC 87: SEEK AND DESTROY against Jon Fitch. First time Welterweight title challenger Jon Fitch prepares to take on the fight of his career. Also see Heath Herring and Brock Lesnar as they get ready for a Heavyweight battle."
Of course, we’ll also get to check out some footage of the camps for lightweights Kenny Florian and Roger Huerta –- a 155-pound number one contender eliminator match that UFC President Dana White anticipates being a possible "Fight of the Year" candidate.
UFC 87: "Seek and Destroy" is set for the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn., on August 9. MMAmania.com will provide all the coverage you can handle, including LIVE blow-by-blow UFC 87 results of the main card action on fight night.
Come check us out.
For those who miss the "Countdown" premier it will re-air on Thursday, August 7 at 1 a.m. ET and Saturday, August 9 at 6 p.m. ET.

I wonder why it airs on THursday instead of the regular day, Tuesday? I wish it wasnt at 11:00 on THursday. I try to go to bed as early as possible on thursdays so that I can wake up to a FRIDAY! Especially this week cause My Eagles are playing the steelers in the preseason, and I am dying to get a look my team, and I like this years preseason cause I will get to watch a lot of Kevin Kolb!

No kidding! I can’t remember the last UFC countdown i actually watched on tv. Spike plays them so late, I have to watch them online from another source. Start them at 10:00. I can get enough beauty rest going to bed at 11:00.

Just jokes man…I’m a huge Steelers fan, so I had to bust your chops a little.

DREAM has signed Gilbert Yvel and it looks like he will eventually fight his teammate Alistar Overeem, that will be an awesome fight with excellent Muy tai displayed! He signed for 3 fights!

Here are my predictions for the individual bonus awards at UFC 87:
Fight of the night will be hUERTA VS. Florian
Submission of the night will go to Maia
KO of the night will come out of the Kongo vs. Elverson match up. Its really ashame that this fight wont air because Kongo is an amazing Kickboxer and Elverson is a Muy Tai fighter who hates wrestlers. These 2 are going to stand tow to toe and exchange punches, Knees, Kicks and elbows till someone goes down. Its a travesty that I have to watch Manny/amerson instead of this fight!

And I won’t get to see any of the build up or get to see it live. You’ve got to feel for us British :(
I will only get to see the fight using the usual video sites. I’m gutted, f_@king hate this part. Especially as GSP is fighting in one of his hardest tests to date

Get Setanta. Its only £13.99 a month and all the events are live around 3am. Does mean that you have to try and stay awake after a Sat night out and you get all the Premiership.

I hate Setanta, because of them, Bravo doesn’t get to broadcast live events.
You have to pay £13.99 per month to watch any UFC event including the free ones. Setanta wanted all the rights. Setanta doesn’t show anything else of interest to me.
As I have a young family, it is impossible for me to stay up throught the night.
On a promising note, BT have a Broadband, Telephone a freeview package for £24.50 per month and that includes Setanta channels.

But Bravo never did the events live, it was a cut 3 hr show the night after which meant you couldn’t use the Internet the day after. So even if you didn’t know the results you could figure out if a the main event was going to a decision by how long was left in the programme. Live events are better as the round breaks are a minute and you get the swing matches.
£13.99 isnt too much if you convert it into USD and mutiply it by 12, im sure our American friends would be happy to pay $85 for all UFC events.

$85 for the whole year. damn you brits are lucky. i would stay up till 3 am for only $85 for every ufc ppv. im so jealous.

I forgot to say there was a delay in Bravo’s broadcast and LMAO at working out the main event. It was easy to work out lol.
The US conversion is x 2 which would make it $335 per year

lol You don’t know my wife.
All electrical items need to be switched off when we got to bed. She can’t sleep knowing that something electrical is still on.
Maybe its not feel for the British, just feel for me :( lol

Hey I need some info, I just joined BetUS.com and I’m wondering about the “FP” checkbox. Is that freeplay? Does this mean that you don’t have to wage anything, but can still see how much you could’ve won?

It’s strange that the “Countdown” show is on a Thursday in the US, as it aired last night (Tuesday evening) here in Canada on Sportsnet at both 7:00 and 10:00 pm EST.

I’m a little mad about Huerta running his mouth so soon but I think it might be a smart business move on his part.
by Cogito Ergo Sum on Aug 6, 2008 3:08 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
“smart business move” might works in Huerta’s favor if he does win this next fight against Florian. Since he already run his mouth and if he does lose, then UFC will have gained a leverage against Huerta.

Mike Swick fights like a girl. Better yet he doesnt even fight. He gets by. Swick can keep on living his dream through Fitch cause thats the closest he will ever get to the 170 title.
