No wonder Condit is thinking about the UFC, with a pay of 22k to show & 22k to win as champ.

by JV on Aug 4, 2008 4:21 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

True, but his pay would probably go down a bit in the UFC. I don’t see him standing a chance against the likes of GSP, Penn, Alves, Fitch, etc.

Personally, I would like to see a rematch between Condit and Larson.

Miura probably spent $5k just to get to Vegas.

by RealDrew on Aug 4, 2008 4:22 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

i hope miura gets a nice performance bonus(i believe he will and deserves it) and will probably get a fight of the night bonus. i think cantwell should get fighter of the night bonus and bowles gets submission of the night bonus.

its a crime to only pay Miura $5,000. Dana should be thrown inj jail for that one!

JOHN. ask and ye shall recieve. lil nog is repoted to be fighting matyushenko at affliction 2. a worthy challenger indeed.

by b.w. on Aug 4, 2008 9:07 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

vERY WORTHY! looks like Affliction 2 will feature a bunch of competitive fights! I amn very happy about this match up. Nog deserves to fight the best and it was a great move by Affliction to sign Vladamyir because he is one of the few top lHW’s not signed to the UFC.

Goren Rejlic was going to cut down to middleweight to face my boy, THales Leites at UFN 15 in September because Dean Lister got hurt, but now Goren also got hurt. The UFC said that tHales will still compete at UFN but they are still trying to find him an opponent!

Very impressive…the kid should go a long way. He is also very humble and that makes him more interesting. I would like to see him fight more name guys though.

by john on Aug 4, 2008 5:40 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

yeah thatd be interesting, of course hed have to bulk up to LW but i dont see him having any trouble there. id love to see him fight donald cerrone at LW in wec. i feel cowboy is gonna be one of the brightest future stars, it would be great to see if grispi could hang with him. Also id like to see both those guys go into the later rounds

He could be on TUF if he doesn’t violate the Clay Guida rule.

by PW on Aug 4, 2008 7:41 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

whats the guida rule. too old or to much ufc experience/exposure.

by b.w. on Aug 4, 2008 10:04 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, he got left off on season of TUF, 5 if I’m not mistaken, because he had too much experience. Apparently, this did not apply to Mack Danzig.

I heard Ike Reese, a former NFL player, say that “most football players only make after taxes around 150,000 a year. How could you expect a person to live off that?” He should take a look the childrens’ allowance Dana gives these guys. How can they even afford insurance?

by Gregg on Aug 4, 2008 6:12 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Being from the greater Dallas area where Ike Reese made his bones as a special teams/nickel corner on the Cowboys Super Bowl teams, I can say that Reese is a clown’s ass. This one night I was out with some buddies and we ran into Reese while he was hanging with some kids that looked like they were about 12. Don’t ask me why, I guess he wasn’t good enough to get his butt kissed by grown folks. He had them play the ‘do you know who I am’ card on his behalf, then tried to start a fight with us. Later he drove home, dropped his little friends off before their curfew, then went up his own front lawn and into his living room.

Sorry PW: I am from Philly, and I too have ran inito Ike Reese on numerous occassions and he is a real cool dude. He is very fan friendly. I stopped to say whats uph and he ended up talking to me for like a half an hour, in tOwer Records.

Now he has a sports talk show on Philly’s sports radio WIP, and he dopes a really good job!

He may have made his bones in Dallas, but He calls Philly home!

by john on Aug 5, 2008 7:13 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I got it wrong. It was Ike Holt here in Dallas, not Reese.

zuffa needs to pay their fighters more money

by Ramon on Aug 4, 2008 8:48 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Ike Reese played for the Eagles and Falcons. He never played for the Cowboys. Nonetheless he’s a horse’s arse.

by TBN on Aug 4, 2008 9:25 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

My bad. I mistook him for Isaac Holt. The above story holds true for some dillhole named Ike from the early 90s Cowboys.

MMA fighters in general need to be paid better. The sport is still a baby. The money will hopefully come in the next couple of years. If someone like Tony Hawk can make millions riding a skateboard, there is not doubt in my mind that someone who is an actual athlete can make the same amount.

by The Killer on Aug 4, 2008 10:55 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Hawk’s millions come from endorsements, video games and his own product line. It’s not as if every professional skateboarder gets that kind of money.
