WEC 35 medical suspensions and injuries from NSAC

ufc 86 medical suspensions

The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) today issued its medical suspensions for the WEC event that took place from "The Joint" at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Sunday, August 3, revealing that several fighters will need to take mandatory time off to lick their wounds.

Some more than others.

In fact, Hiromitsu Miura sustained "orbital blowout fractures" as a result of his four-round war with WEC Welterweight Champion Carlos Condit. That sounds excruciating.

Here’s the complete list of injuries and their medical instructions:

Carlos Condit -- "The Natural Born Killer" must serve a minimum medical suspension until September 3, 2008, and there's no contact allowed until September 25 because of left eyebrow and left lip lacerations.

Hiromitsu Miura -- The Japanese fighter must clear a nasal and left medial orbital blowout fractures with an ophthalmologist or no contest until January 31, 2009. He must serve a minimum medical suspension until September 18, 2008, and there's no contact allowed until September 3.

Brian Stann -- "All American" must serve a minimum medical suspension until September 3, 2008, and there's no contact allowed until September 25.

Marcus Hicks -- "Wrecking Ball" must serve a minimum medical suspension until September 18, 2008, and there's no contact allowed until September 3.

Micah Miller -- The American Top Team (ATT) product must serve a minimum medical suspension until September 3, 2008, and there's no contact allowed until September 25.

Carlo Prater -- He must serve a minimum medical suspension until September 18, 2008, and there's no contact allowed until September 3.

David Terrel -- He must serve a minimum medical suspension until September 3, 2008, and there's no contact allowed until September 25.

Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases.

mmapayout is reporting that the wec has signed a new tv deal with mexico. wich is futher proof that zuffa really is going global and trying to make mma the biggest sport in the world. it also stated that the wec has alot of mexican fighters and fighters from hispanic decent (condit). give the wec a couple of more years with events like the last 2 and soon they might be able to test the ppv waters like cross-promoting with the ufc ( if you can call 2 companies cross-promoting that are owned by the same co.) kinda like strikeforce/elite, the same, but different? anyway the more exposure the better., and ive heard from some latino fans that seem thirsty for mma coverage in their respective country.

Miguel Torres has the potential to become a superstar in Mexico. Zuffa makes things happen. I have no doubt that with Lorenzo Fertitta working full time with Zuffa that the UFC (and to a lesser extent the WEC) will continue to totally dominate MMA in the forseeable future.

yes, with boxing on the decline, torres could become the next julio ceaser chavez. even guys like condit and diego sanchez, who are american, but from hispanic descent, can still become big stars in mexico like delahoya and othes.

A guy on ESPN Page 2 just wrote a story about the decline of black boxers, while Hispanics are stronger than ever. Maybe an event or two in Mexico would onvert some of those passionate boxing fans to MMA.

Pros and cons of an event in Ciudad Mexico: On the one hand we wouldn’t have that time zone issue that we do with the UK events. The downside is that Mexico City is about one and half times the altitude of Denver, meaning fighters will gas much quicker up there.

Thanks to Brandon Vera and Karo Parisian…………………… fighters are suffering the consequences such as Marcus Hicks, James Irvin and others to come

Refferees are so reluctant to stop fights prematurely that they are now letting the fights end them selves with vicious knock outs and several and I mean several unanswered blows.

Two fights on this card alone went on longer than they should have, its dangerous for the fighters who make a living fighting
