Randy Couture is gonna be on Inside MMA tonight!

Dean Lister hurt his knee, and wont fight THales Leites at the UFN.

by john on Aug 1, 2008 5:52 PM EDT up reply actions

Good… That was a pointless fight anyways. Why don’t they have him fight Alemedia.

by BNF on Aug 1, 2008 6:10 PM EDT up reply actions

BNF: I would really love that fight!

by john on Aug 1, 2008 7:13 PM EDT up reply actions

and now on the next “as the mma world turns”. MMA WEEKLY is reporting that there is most likely to be more positive drug tests coming out of both the affliction banned card and elite xc’s last show. some of afflictions fighters have come back clean, but none of the big ones except vitor. FOOP is saying that the a.a./fedor fight schedueled in oct, is most likely to be scrapped because of a lingering hand injury to fedor. it sounds like there might be a big name or two that might come back positive. stay tuned till aug. 11. that is supposed to be the date when all tests are back.

by b.w. on Aug 2, 2008 12:26 AM EDT up reply actions

Fedor is hurt! Looks like Arlovski will fight Barnett!

by john on Aug 2, 2008 9:32 AM EDT up reply actions

Arlovski vs. Barnett as a main event and 50% pay cuts. Sorry to say it, but Affliction will be done very soon.

Mania, are you taking a break??? Unexceptable…

by BNF on Aug 2, 2008 10:52 AM EDT up reply actions

i almost got a hard-on for fedor/a.a. (almost), but a.a./barnett would be good too ,just not as great as fedor/arlovski.

by b.w. on Aug 2, 2008 11:23 AM EDT up reply actions

so a semi-chub is the logical conclusion

by Punch You in the Ovaries on Aug 2, 2008 11:58 AM EDT up reply actions

ha! something like that.

by b.w. on Aug 2, 2008 1:49 PM EDT up reply actions

Its not for sure yet. THis could just be a rumor. It will take one hell of a hand injury to sideline the Last Emperor, Russian Experiment, Cyborg or whatever otrher bad ass nickname u want to call him!

AS of right now, I still believe that Fedor will fight Arlovski, but Barnett vs. Andre isnt a bad back up.

by john on Aug 2, 2008 5:54 PM EDT up reply actions

Speaking of Cyborg, I would expect her to be failing her drug test any day now. haha

by naturalshadow on Aug 2, 2008 10:50 PM EDT up reply actions

I’m with you Arnold….I know I might be the only one, but I’m with you bro! I can’t wait to head to MN!

I know it’s Brock’s backyard, but no way he should be billed ahead of the Florian/Huerta scrap!

by TonyDrip on Aug 1, 2008 6:30 PM EDT up reply actions

Brock should os stayed in wrestling. I hate when they overhype a guy as if he was the great white hope. Brock, Kimbo… let them prove themselves before we start getting all hype. There are way better fighers out there that we should be checking out such as the Huerta/Florian or GSP/Flitch fight. Let’s not make MMA into one big freakin soap opera. This is not the WCW :op

by KazMcnasty on Aug 2, 2008 12:31 AM EDT up reply actions

It’s weird to me to keep seeing comparison’s to Kimbo. NCAA Wrestling Champ vice 30 second bum fights. Getting beat up by a lobotimized tard with a dumbo ear vice getting close to a stoppage on a former HW UFC champ. Hey, I don’t like when Brock refers to himself in the 3rd person as much as the next guy, but the Kimbo Brock analogies are tenuous.

by Punch You in the Ovaries on Aug 2, 2008 2:25 AM EDT up reply actions

I understand that Huerta-Florian and GSP-Fitch are important fights. But you should also learn to differentiate Brock Lesnar from Kimbo Slice. I admit both are quite freakshows, but if you would pit one against the other, Brock will turn out to be the more legit MMA fighter. Kimbo should have just went into professional boxing. But then again, who are we to question what he does?

by TheNegation on Aug 2, 2008 5:44 AM EDT up reply actions

that was gary shaws original plan. to get some exposure from mma for kimbo and then move him to boxing. i wouldnt be surprised to see kimbo in the boxing ring someday.

by b.w. on Aug 2, 2008 1:17 PM EDT up reply actions

I read somewhere that Fedor has a lingering hand injury and that the Arlovski VS Fedor fight might be off because of it?… anyone else hear anything more?

Heath is a really funny Kat!

F***in WAR HUERTA!!!!

by john on Aug 1, 2008 3:24 PM EDT reply actions

Now I’m OFFICALLY.. more than ever.. HYPED to see UFC87!!

No wonder Dana .. put Roger into this position.. as one of the poster boys ofthe UFC.

1. He has a good look

2. Crazy ass story

3. He fight his ss off.

add them all up.. Grand slam homerun!!

I don’t really know which fight I want to see more.. Fitch/GSP or Florian/Huerta.. this card holds IMO to figths that can be canidates for " Fight of the year ".

Heath’s comment was funny about wreslter’s.. He lost to Jake O’brian.. ???

If the Heath that fought and amazed the Japanese fans in Pride shows up and fight Lesnar.. Lesnar is in for a real tuf fight..and test of where he stands today amongst the top talent HW’s.. but if the Heath that couldn’t stop "the blanket O’brian’s takedown..and like 60 mounts in 3rd’s shows up.. Heath is in BIG TROUBLE.

by PhilQNY on Aug 1, 2008 3:33 PM EDT up reply actions

If Lesnar devotes himself to getting a takedown, I’m not sure there’s a sprawl good enough in the HW division to stop it. If he stands to prove he’s a real MMA fighter, Heath could teach him a lesson. With the loss to Mir, I think he plays it safe. Brock by silly looking hammerfists in the 1st.

by SirMixaLot on Aug 1, 2008 3:25 PM EDT reply actions

holy f**k. poor huerta. florian’s going to beat him worse than his stepmom.

by eightyproof on Aug 1, 2008 3:35 PM EDT up reply actions

in a sense you underestimate huerta completly….maybe florian is technically better.probably is anyways…on thing i do know about ppl with that type of background…you literally have to kill them to beat them..huerta is a man no fear of man. huerta has got issues…guy like him are disturbingly aggresive and hell bound….regardless of the outcome this is probable gonna be one of the best fights ever.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by santiago69us on Aug 1, 2008 4:37 PM EDT up reply actions

This will be the ugliest we ever see Huerta’s pretty mug. No matter how determined, it won’t matter when the ref stops it. I like Huerta, but I don’t think this matchup comes down to heart.

by Punch You in the Ovaries on Aug 2, 2008 2:07 AM EDT up reply actions

Serious issues yeah. W/c probably makes him more dangerous. The guy’s been through adversity ever since he can remember. It’s as if he’s got nothin’ to lose in this fight. He actually sounded this way in one of his intervies, sayin that he really doesn’t care if he ends up in the UFC or not after this fight. So if little Ken-Flo thinks that he can put the pressure on Huerta from the moment the bell sounds, then good luck to him.

Not sure about that one, I think if it goes past rd 2 Herring wins, we’ll have to see how a big guy like Brock holds up if this goes the distance.

by O damn he got caught on Aug 1, 2008 3:46 PM EDT up reply actions

I was at 81 and I was impressed with Lesnar in ‘what a freak of nature/ brute strength’ way, but outside of the hammer fists- what did we really see? When I saw the first on tv for the first time last week it looked more like a frantic ‘I don’t know or have anything else to win this fight’ feel to me. He’s had had all this time to train, but he won’t be up to par. He is strong as hell though, if Herring cathes it the right way- maybe….

by DSmith on Aug 1, 2008 7:16 PM EDT up reply actions

Brock was a little green back then. This time around, we’re gonna see a “phase 2” mutation of Brock.

by TheNegation on Aug 2, 2008 6:15 AM EDT up reply actions

I just think huerta and family need family counseling! Dr.Jennifer melfi. Id watch it on Dr.phill
Maniac id like to see brock go 3 rnds i don’t think he could

by DBG on Aug 1, 2008 3:44 PM EDT reply actions

I dont think Brock would have much trouble going the 3 rounds. With his amatuer background and his WWE wrestling(Have some long matches even if they are fake) he has shown hes got a lot in his tank. Herring is the one with the problem. You got some dude as big as Brock laying on you for 15 mins, that has got to drain you.

by NorthStar on Aug 1, 2008 6:18 PM EDT up reply actions

He doesn’t know his family. He has been orphaned since he was 12. His father said all I need is my woman and my crack pipe, kicked Roger out and he had to go live on the streets or with gang members- whoever would take him in. He doesn’t know whatever happened to him dad. And Roger has said in interviews that he hasn’t seen his mother since he was 5 and won’t know her if she was right in front of him. It say a lot that he’s not a serial killer really.

by DSmith on Aug 1, 2008 7:21 PM EDT up reply actions

So how did he make it to the U.S.? Illegally? Across our borders? Does he have a green card?

Well just sit back and relax for after this, you’;; get your wish. We still don’t know though if it’s Huerta or Florian who’ll move up to be #1 Contender. I do hope it’s Huerta though, for I see a lot of potential. I just can’t miss talent when I see it.

Lesnar has NEVER had a positive drug test. Not as a college wrestler, not in the WWE wellness program (for whatever that’s worth), not in the NFL and not as a professional fighter.

by PW on Aug 1, 2008 7:25 PM EDT up reply actions

Barry Bonds has never had a positive test either. I doubt he’s juicing now but back when he was in the WWE there’s no question he was juicing.

by GSP4Prez on Aug 2, 2008 4:44 AM EDT up reply actions

bonds hasnt tested positve cuz he never got tested. he has admitted to “unknowingly” taking roids in court. he claims he thought it was wheat germ or b-12 or some sh!t that i cant remember. brock has been tested and has never come up positive.

by mma maniac on Aug 1, 2008 3:53 PM EDT reply actions

As long as he doesn’t get to excited and blow his wad right out of the gate, with his training routine, I def. think he could go 3 rounds.

by brac on Aug 1, 2008 5:30 PM EDT up reply actions

watching countdown talk about huerta’s past while showing stock footage of poor mexican children picking for crumbs on the streets was almost vomit inducing. then huerta goes off on an emotional rant saying “FUCK YOU MOM, FUCK YOU DAD, FUCK MY STEP MOM, FUCK ALL THEM, HOW DARE YOU!” while he is saying all this you can tell he tries to force the tears to come to add to the emotion of the moment. huerta had a tough childhood but i guarantee it wasn’t nearly as bad as the stock footage they showed during his segment of pigs walking through dumps and homeless children. it’s obvious the UFC production crew coached him to play up the sympathy card like they always do with him.

by bubba on Aug 1, 2008 3:56 PM EDT reply actions

and how would you know what he has really been trough?

by shamo84 on Aug 1, 2008 4:37 PM EDT up reply actions

I get what he’s saying. The superfluous footage makes it seem less sincere. However, the backgrounds do get people involved. Hell, I was rooting for Houstan Alexander even though I knew he lacked skill because of his signle father of 50 girls story.

by Punch You in the Ovaries on Aug 2, 2008 2:31 AM EDT up reply actions

ya go take a walk through the streets of Mexico and see if you think they are trying to embelish what he went through.

by GSP4Prez on Aug 2, 2008 4:58 AM EDT up reply actions

I’m in Albuquerque so I have. My point was that the purpose of the footage was to tug at the heart strings. I said it was superfluos meaning unecessary, not embellished. When the purpose of the video is so apparent that annoys some people. I then went on to say that I get it. I like the background info. And it makes it easier for me to turn my non-MMA friends into fans.

by Punch You in the Ovaries on Aug 2, 2008 11:53 AM EDT up reply actions

Still dont think he can and would love to see it just cause you train with a 155 lb doesnt mean you have the same stamina college wresteling is a lot different then mma big guys dont have the same stamina expetially if there is a couple choke atempts, gettin hit,and wrestelin, plus the addrenalin dump

I just really don’t like that guy. I like intelligent people. Every UFC employee has that on him.

by GodDamnMike on Aug 1, 2008 5:21 PM EDT up reply actions

I don’t know how smart he is, but every since he has came to the UFC, he’s been nothing but a nice humble guy and is asking for quality opponents. He seems to be taking this attempt at mma very seriously and training hard. I def. won’t be taking a beer run during his fight. I’d like to see him get a good win and then fight another credible opp.

by brac on Aug 1, 2008 5:35 PM EDT up reply actions

Totally agree brac. I am very impressed with the way Brock has handled himself so far. I am so curious to see how he preforms this time around. And the only beer run I will be doing is in between rounds when I run to the fridge to grab another!

by DBG on Aug 1, 2008 5:28 PM EDT reply actions

This card is unbelievable. The only thing that would have made it better is if Brock was fighting either Shane Carwin or Cain Velazquez. And if Herring was fighting Gonzaga or Werdum or Vera (if he hadn’t fought @LHW last UFC).

This is the company that started it all. If it wasn’t for the UFC, we wouldn’t be where we are today. They were the guys at the forefront, the guys that went everywhere to sanction the sport, they were the guys that put the money behind it and that were $40 million in the hole when nobody else believed in it. But I believed in it with them and I’ve been blessed to be a part of this. My goal used to be to fight in the UFC one day; now the goal is to become the UFC world champion, and it’s just two fights away.

by kama kaze on Aug 2, 2008 12:17 AM EDT up reply actions

did you hear what Herring said? word for word… “its gonna be like godzilla and king kong! kuzsSHHHH!” LMAO! Heath is the man for knocking out that dude that kissed him but Brock is just going to DINO-maul him. I’m sorry he’s just going to pick up where he left off with Mir. its inevitable.

Brock Lesnar came into the UFC with better collegiate wrestling credentials than anyone else in the UFC, with the possible exception of Koscheck. He had a former HW champ beaten until The Moustache intervened with some poor refereeing (big surprise) and now he’s fighting a very talented and experienced fighter in Herring. It’s not as if Dana is throwing him in with a bunch of chumps like Mimbo has fought.

by PW on Aug 2, 2008 1:50 AM EDT up reply actions

I think Kos has the best collegiate record in the UFC

by DSmith on Aug 2, 2008 1:56 AM EDT up reply actions

KOscheck sucks…And, oh yeah. I’m a hater. So watcha gonna’ do about that? Sorry folks, I just don’t want Kos to win his next fight. Hope the UFC gives him what he’s askin’ for sooner, and that’s BJ Penn.

by TheNegation on Aug 2, 2008 6:36 AM EDT up reply actions

I don’t care if you like him or not, I’m not his biggest fan either- but he has the best collegiate wrestling record of anyone in the UFC period.

by DSmith on Aug 2, 2008 3:17 PM EDT up reply actions

I don’t care if he has the best record. Lesnar also has one of the most impressive wrestling resumes in the UFC, but a lot of people hate on him too. IMO, past records and glories are bullsh1t becasue what matters is the Ws in the octagon!!

by TheNegation on Aug 2, 2008 6:33 PM EDT up reply actions

ur right PW, i would almost go as far as saying that Brock got robbed from a win. Mir was getting destroyed and would have been finished, 1st second of the 1st round. no shame in that loss. just some accidental misplaced strikes.

by kama kaze on Aug 2, 2008 6:51 PM EDT up reply actions

He won the 2000 NCAA Wrestling Championship. He wasn’t beating up fat guys in his back yard. Huge, fast, coordinated and a proven athlete. Sprinkle on training and hew will start winning and be a train to stop.
