Probably just me but it actually looks pretty decent. I’ll see it.

Yeah was just thinking that shame it went straight to dvd, wouldn’t have minded seeeing this on the big screen.

by ruan-fiy on Jul 31, 2008 4:48 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

your right it looks like its got some good effects, as long as there some action and blood it should be alright.

by roy on Jul 31, 2008 4:58 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Looks pretty dam good to me!

by JV on Jul 31, 2008 5:08 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I don’t know, resident evil extinction was so bad, and don’t get me started on highlander. I look at movies by directors and actors, and this one just don’t have any good between the two. Good for randy though, at least he’ll probably get all good words and praises in this thread (something missing from the kimbo movie thread LOL).

by linx on Jul 31, 2008 5:19 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Well Randy’s stock has just gone up.

If this film adds to his popularity (i.e. if it does well) then Dana won’t want that kind of pulling power anywhere but firmly in the UFC.

Ive always liked these kind of movies linx. Like Troy, 300, Alexander, Lord of the Rings.

by JV on Jul 31, 2008 5:23 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Troy=awesome!
300=awesome!
lord of the rings=awesome! (all three)
alexander=not so much

by linx on Jul 31, 2008 5:34 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

The gay sh*t in Alexander kinda killed it, but the story made up for it.

by JV on Jul 31, 2008 5:51 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

funny how all the ones that arent true you dont like…or way off the real story line. its history bro lol…you gotta know what really happened to know what real history is…alexander was the most accurate out of all of them…..except LOTR..that is fictional..but was good ofr course

It will be crap like every other mummy spin off.

by DB on Jul 31, 2008 6:42 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

3rd lord of the rings took me 5 times to get through without sleeping. the others you mentioned were all good!
A SPECIAL THANK YOU:
to all my buds at mmamania for answering todays question. A vey special thanks to linx for the great compliment! Maybe I’ll come up with one more question for tomorrow to finish off the week!!!
PEACE, time to cook dinner and go to work. actually took a nap today (considering I got home a 5 and slept 90 minutes before my son wanted breakfast!
thats what I forgot to add about myself, work all night, take care of my 6 year old (summer break) all day…can’t wait for school to start, poker tourneys and sleep!!

by kevin doesn't know shit on Jul 31, 2008 7:16 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

LINX i liked all those movies as well as gladiator and braveheart. tombstone is another “guys” movie that cant be missed. usually when a movie goes straight to dvd, theres a reason, the producers dont think it can cut it at the theaters, plus there’s a new mummy 3 coming out soon and im sure it as all the bells and whistles.

by b.w. on Jul 31, 2008 8:14 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

b.w. Tombstone is probably one of my favorite movies. I was also thinking Gladiator, but had a brain fart and didnt put it.

by JV on Jul 31, 2008 8:21 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

kevin, Return of the King was a great flick! And I hear you with the kids. I didn’t complete my little bio cuz I was at work. My name is James, 38, single father of two little girls ages 10 and 12 (their Mom is an exotic dancer and decided “career” was more important than family). I get up at 6, get them ready for swim practice, go to work (where I post for an hour on mania!) get home, fix dinner, spend time with kids, put them to bed and head to the gym if i can get a sitter. I’m dreading school, cuz helping my youngest with her homework is like another full time job. lol Am no longer a restaurant chef (until the kids get old enough to watch themselves-long hours in that biz), but still do private catering for people. That kind of sums me up.

by chefdaddy on Jul 31, 2008 8:36 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Santiago, you should try to learn history from books, don’t count on movies to give you accurate history accounts (you got to be kidding me if you think the movie alexander was an accurate account of history). read a book, I watch movies for the story line and to be entertained, if I wanted to catch up on my history (which was my favorite subject in school and I can probably school you on it) I’d read a book.

JV, I’m actually a very open minded person and did not mind the g@y stuff in alexander, I just didn’t like it because the movie felt very slow, not enough action for a battle movie and the story line was lacking much. I also loved braveheart and gladiator, and I should add bewolf to that list as well, there are many more but can’t think at the moment. I watch movies a lot, I’m a movie freak and like all types of movies.

Kevin, the LOTR trilogy was great, but I had many friends complaining also, I guess if you read the book you’d enjoy the movie more, if you had not than there is a chance you may not like it, so I understand in case you did not read it, and you’re welcome about the compliment, I meant it.

Chefdaddy, I feel for you man. It must be really bad to lose your lady to a job (and a dance job in that)! But you’re a real dude brow, good thing you’re taking care of your kids as you should!

by linx on Jul 31, 2008 8:58 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

linx, she left years ago, and trust me I’m quite ok with it! She’s a bit mental (but you know what they say, crazy in the head=crazy in the bed), did the same thing to another guy after me. Has no contact with her kids at all. Deadbeat moms do exist (she owes me over 30k in child support). I wouldn’t have it any other waythough. To say I was a wild child is a big understatement, so my kids really put my life on an even keel and made me grow up!

by chefdaddy on Jul 31, 2008 9:34 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Chefdaddy big props to you for stepping up and being the MAN! I have 2 kids 1 of which is a little princess, but my wife is here with me. I can’t imagine having 2 girls and raising them by myself.

BTW, Braveheart is the greastest movie of all time!

by BNF on Jul 31, 2008 10:25 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Braveheart and Tombstone are 2 of my favorite movies, but straight to dvd does not mean the movie is bad.

Exhibit A : Boondock Saints

by naturalshadow on Jul 31, 2008 11:03 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

BNF and naturalshadow, Braveheart and Boondock Saints are two of my all time favorite movies! Seen ‘em both a dozen times. We better get back to MMA talk before people start wondering WTF. UFC Unleashed is on right now. I ALWAYS thought you guys were joking about Eric Schaffer’s nickname being “Ravishing Red”. I can’t believe it’s real! That’s hilarious. Oh well, time to watch Anderson Silva whoop on Marquardt.

by chefdaddy on Jul 31, 2008 11:39 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Man chefdaddy, your more manly then the fighters you post about. Props man, it takes a real man to step to the plate for that sort of thing. I’m still 18 so i can only imagine…

by newguythegunman on Aug 1, 2008 12:12 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i should rephrase that then. most ACTION movies that go straight to dvd suck. i have never seen boondock saints and i take that it is a drama or mystery. there are alot of good dramas that go straight to dvd, alot from IFC and SUNDANCE channels. with 2 good endorsements though, i will def be checking boondock saints out.

1 more that went straight to dvd that is one of my all-time favs is THE SALTON SEA w/val kilmer.

by b.w. on Aug 1, 2008 1:13 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

YEah santiago, Linx is right. Hit the books!

by TheNegation on Aug 1, 2008 6:57 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

b.w. it’s a mix of action and comedy. You HAVE to check out the deleted scenes at the end of the disc, absolute riot. It also has Billy Connolly in it! If you guys aren’t old enough to remember his stand-up comedy act, you’re missing out. So may I suggest Pale Blue Scottish Person. Take your bong hits and be ready to laugh til you snarf your drink out of your nose!

by chefdaddy on Aug 1, 2008 7:27 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

BW, a friend gave me a Salton Sea DVD and praised it as the greatest movie. I hadn’t heard of it and still have yet after months and months to watch it. I will have to finally check it out.

by PJJ on Aug 1, 2008 12:19 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

by PJJ on Aug 1, 2008 12:19 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

by chefdaddy on Aug 1, 2008 1:51 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

mystic and shawshank were freat, but not straight to dvd. and the SALTON SEA is the best movie no one has ever heard of.

Definitely not! In any category!…Dark Knight for movie of the year!!Very dark indeed! And Heath LEdger’s Joker approach was sick!!

Well I have admit.. it doesn’t look too corny.. I wonder if Randy will demostrate some GnP in this flick. I’m surprised Wandy wasn’t casted as a villian in this flick.. he got the grill for it.

It looks quite a main part Randy has.

I didn’t think his part was so big.

Good on him, hope his acting is up to scratch

the entire Lord of the rings triogy is garbage in my opinion. Good special affects, and how they brought it all together as well. But the story sucked. Watch clerks 2, Randall does a gives a perfect, example of the movies.

by LOKIE on Jul 31, 2008 7:57 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

thank you. i’ve been stoned for saying as much. the third one is one of the worst movies i’ve payed to see in my adult life and it won something like 8 oscars. the books aren’t even that good. they’re little more than hinly masked christian sermons complete with monsters and midgets.

by clayton on Jul 31, 2008 8:21 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

looks like awful tripe to me. i’ll almost definitely be seeing it.

I did’nt see Huerta in the trailer. Should’nt they have at least given him a mute role or something. You know just to be “fair”?

by Jrandolph on Jul 31, 2008 8:35 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I cant stand bad acting, I think I’ll set this one out. I mean it is a prequal to a sequel. Couture is NOT going to be a good actor. Also it pisses me off because at the time this movie was made Couture backed out of his contract with the ufc. the very contract that he signed and agreed to. Then he lied about bonuses that he did receive. Dana White had to bring receipts of cashed checks to a press confrence to clear his name. I used to respect Captain America. Now I see him as a liar. I hope Fedor kicks his ass.

why do i think of the movie rocky when i think of randy vs fedor?? i really hope he does not take that fight, i really do. randy is a great champion, hes an icon, but i just think his time is up. as for the movie, i dunno, doesnt look to bad, but i always hate prequils to a movie. as for 300, troy, alexander, i agree those were very great flicks. again i gotta repeat tho if u want accurate history, never watch a movie but obtain a book. but if you really, really think about it, how do we know any of it is accurate???!!! with that being said, i agree on the comment about alexander. it wasnt as good as the others, could have been better written, but i still liked it. as for the gay hint, just to fill you in on life during those times, it wasnt an unusual thing to have happen during those times. it was acceptable. it did create a lot of buzz about the film and some historians were upset because they hinted of the gay society in the movie.
