Keep the Leben Videos coming!!!! If you don’t like it, don’t watch it, and better yet, don’t comment in the thread!!!
Who’s Mania pulling for in this fight? Did we just get a hint?…
I’ll tell you who I’m rooting for in this fight. Wait. Do I really need to do so? I think everyone knows…

Lol, I’m rooting for Bisping so of course I don’t like Lebens videos (isn’t it a known fact that you either like Leben or hate him?), so I’ll continue to comment. That and I can’t help but laugh everytime I see that shot of Leben up on a mountain doing some bruce lee like pose’s at the beginning. Just looks ridiculous IMO. Anyway, Bisping’s gonna drop him like a toilet seat.

I like Leben in this fight…but Bisping has a good chance of winning. I guess that chin will finally get tested against some real power.

Leban’s alright, but I’m pretty sure Bisping will win a decision. Stick n’ move.

I like Bisping, plus I usually pick against Leben to break VM’s ballz, since he got me when Bisping abused my fellow countryman Sakara!
In reality, I do believe that Bisping will win this fight!
by john on Jul 30, 2008 5:06 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Correct John. You will always go against Leben just to break my balls, yet I will NEVER let go of your 1/2 hour on convincing me that Herring had no shot to beat Kongo! LOLOLOL And I kept saying that Kongo has no takedown defense and I can totally see Herring laying on Kongo for about 9 minutes, which would get him the win. I lost $40 on a fight where I was going to bet on Herring, who was the underdog…

alright guys, taking my son and his new dog “guero” to the park. latin readers fill in the guys what his dogs name is. for those of you that missed this, hopefullly mania can repost one last time!
’
WED. MORNING CONVERSATION WITH KEVIN:
WOW, great lists yesterday guys, few surprises: Machida made quite a few over rated lists, as did coture…not disagreeing, and Kimbo didn’t make everyone’s hyped list!
I got good idea to keep us mmamaniacs interested again today. I got at least a dozen, but what if you could ask mmamania one question. Only one guys, maybe we;ll get lucky and get a few answered. heres mine:
.
.
Did the UFC "pressure" you to change your name to mmamania, or did you do it on your own?

What is the reasoning behind the long lags (occasionally) with the posts making it up?

Mania and all posters: Here’s my question. MMA has, as Rogan puts it, revolutionized the martial arts. It has discarded techniques that don’t work, and has emphasized that a well rounded approach (normally with a base in 1 area) makes for a better fighter. In the past, Royce showed BJJ as dominant, while others such as Hughes brought wrestling into the mix. My question (s) are where will the sport be in 10 years by way of technique? is there something out there that can move the sport forward that is as of yet untested/untried? Kind of like how the West Coast offense revolutionized football? Or are we likely to see a “rotation” of the main 4 fighting techniques (BJJ, wrestling, Muy Thai, boxing) take turns in dominance and popularity? Or could Machida be the forerunner of the future with his style? There you go, have at it!

Kevin-
Your dog is named caucasian? Hahaha.
Chefdaddy-
I think there will be a cyclical rotation among the 4 disciplines you mentioned. I think Jeet Kune Do is the essence of MMA… Just my 2cents.
Odamn-
I like Leben (my top 5) but I think Bisping will work alot of angles and chip away at him. Bisping better not stand right in front of him or its tweety birds flying around Bisping’s noggin. Bisping by decision.
by OJR on Jul 30, 2008 1:54 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Chefdaddy: Good Post man.. I like your question.
When I look at pride in the beginning is was " Rickson "..10 years later it was " Fedor ".. I think all the styles that we have on the board.. with Chung Lee’s style is all MMA pretty much needs.. We have BJJ, Muay Thai, Wrestling, Boxing, Karate(Lyoto’s)(Chuck..Kempo.. honorable mention) Sambo, Judo. This sport will be out of Control 10 to 15 yrs from now.. and my brain will need gig’s to hold all the MMA info.
The Fitch’s, BJ’s, Florians, Gomi’s, Sakaraba’s, Wandy’s, Lyoto’s, Rampage’s, Chuck’s, Lyoto’s, Fedor’s, Silva’s, GSP’s, Henderson’s, Nog’s..and company are the product of 10yrs + of MMA in Amercia and abroad.
This is the Golden aGe of MMA.. the future fighter’s will be the seed’s of the above named..

good post buddy, it’s what my “ATM” calls me at work. ATM as I call him is a mexican cat that has lost around 5-6000 to me so far this year, and raiders football hasn’t started yet. Man it’s good to be from Boston!!!!

Yep, Bisping is the more technical striker, and he’s got the reach. I also can see them clinching up and Leben eating a few knee’s followed by some Bisping GnP.

Don’t forget, Leben has a huge edge in foot stomp technique.
For reals though. Leben will definitely take some damage, but Bisping will need to avoid that one nasty punch that Leben has for 15 minutes. One good punch from him will put anyone on queer street. I doubt Bisping can finish him.
Leben 2nd rnd KO.
by DonnyG on Jul 30, 2008 2:29 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Foot stomps break the tiny little bones in your feet. Once you have several broken bones in your foot, you sure don’t want to kick with it and you hardly want to put weight on it.
by ViolentMike on Jul 30, 2008 4:37 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Its actually a very smart strategy on Leben’s part, especially if you face someone who uses a lot of kicks…Foot stomp him through the 1st round and by round 2, he wont be blasting u with kicks anymore!

Chris leben is really coming along, he looks much better than the anderson silva fight.. i think he can win this fight, bisbing doesn’t have knock out power, so chris will eventually get frustrated push him up against the fence (taking a few shots of course) and knock him out like he did to alexiso sakara………… by the way did anyone notice how HOT HIS GIRLFRIEND IS..!!! damnnn i want to got hawaii !!!

Just to add my 2cents.. the last time Fenny went to a decision was agaisnt Sean Sherk..He is 7-0.. all finishes. It may be small..reall small chance it going to the judges..but a much more realistic that this fight ends before the final bell.
I got Kenny. Via TKO.

I respect both of these fighters, but neither is my favorite. Both of them put on fantastic shows, and it’ll be a great striking war!!
I do, however, want Leben to win(by KO) simply because he really has come a very long way, and grown tremendously. He’s taking his life seriously now, he looks better, he feels better, and the new lifestyle he has taken on can only improve his career path, from the shit life he used to partake in. Also we will see a more intelligent Leben, which was even obvious in his last fight.
Bisping also has great athletic ability. And a great all around game, oh, and he’s also smart! This will be a great fight!!
Sorry about my rambling, and run-on sentences sometimes I do that, hahah.

It was interesting to hear that Steve English is focusing on developing fast twitch muscle fibres (which are more fatigeable) over slow twitch (more resistant to fatigue). As far as exercise physiology goes, both would be required. Leben is obviously trying to be more “Anderson Silva like” and focus on speed and accuracy. With his seemingly natural “chin” this approach seems to make sense. However, his diet (especially the day before the fight) would probably need to be pretty carbohydrate intensive so that the fast fibres have enough energy available to them on the day of the fight. The fact that someone who works out as much as Leben obviously does would still have a little bit of weight around his waist is somewhat surprising.
by Muscle Dolphin on Jul 30, 2008 1:50 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
MUSCLE DOLPHIN. well said. fast twich muscle fibers are what made roy jones and and sugar ray leonard so great. not to mention bruce lee!, but with that said there can be only so much of it developed as to have it “god given”. leben can make 170 easy imo, he just doesnt want to. if bisping handles him (i think he will), i can see leben moving down to 170. fights with him and kos and swick would be great to watch.
by b.w. on Jul 30, 2008 3:06 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I really like Bisping and Leben and honestly don’t care who wins, I just want to see a war. Kinda leaning towards thinking Leben is going to win though. Besides Anderson Silva Leben has never been knocked out, and the quality of his opponents has been far better than Bisping.
And on a side note – No questions asked, K-Flo.

Has Bisping really knocked anyone out? I just don’t see him hurting Leben’s steel jaw in this fight with punches. Leben’s ground game isn’t half bad either even though we haven’t seen a lot of it lately. I would love to see that pond hopper lose this fight and open the door for Leben fighting some real 185er for a real test…Franklin, Hendo, McDonlad rematch, oh the new TUF champ Amir. Now that would be a good test for both dudes!
