Carlos Condit: 'I can deal with any one of those guys in the UFC' (Audio)

Note that 24-year-old doesn't say that he can defeat the top-level talent ... yet.

I really like condit as the best WW in the WEC, that said, I have one comment:
I can name at least 15 WW’s in UFC that can beat you, enjoy your WEC exposure, bulk up and get a mans body then think about UFC!

ok name them. i can thin of 5 for sure. kos, gsp, fitch, diego, thiago and maybe karo and hughes. i’d like to seem him compete in the ufc. he’s certainly worthy.

so you named 7, very easily mind you. I’m not taking away from his accomplishments or potential, but he’s young and IMO too small for the big leagues.

Carneiro, Davis, Swick, Hazelett, Dong Hyun Kim, Fioravanti, gono, anthony johnson …. i think any of these guys would win most of the time

I think he is top 10 and at such a young age thats an amazing accomplishment considering how good the welterweight division is.

cmon john be realistic. he wouldn’t be top 10 in ufc…never mind world. I’ll prove it too.
He has accomplished a lot and the sky is the limit!

Condit would be Top 10 in the UFC, NO DOUBT ABOUT IT! Also, I would take Kos and Thiago off of the list that would definitely beat him. Heck, even Diego wouldn’t beeat him 10 out of 10 times.
Kos would have no idea what to do against him. Everytime Kos fights a striker, he takes them down and lays on them. Whenever he fights a BJJ guy, he stands and trades. Well, Carlos’s muay thai is waaaay nasty than Josh and his loopy overhand right, and Carlos has very slick BJJ which would scare Josh away from the takedown. He’d have no where to take the fight and Condit would make him pay for it!!!
Plus, The Natural Born Killer is a finisher, finishing 21 of his 22 victories.
NOW, its time for me to go read that article and/or audio.

Kurt Angle (Trigg (who I hate could beat him!!)
by kevin doesn't know shit on Jul 30, 2008 2:56 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Carlos is still young. There is no need to come over to the UFC when you are only 24 unless you are TRUELY ready to make a run for the title. Otherwise, you will come into the octagon unprepared, lose a couple of fights in a row and find yourself out of the UFC. Around the ages of 29 – 32 is typically the peak of a MMAist’s career. Carlos is 24, he has time.
Carlos’s management is being very smart. He WILL go to the UFC when he is completely ready. Jake Shields and Carlos Condit are both recognized as Top 10 WW’s for a reason.
by ViolentMike on Jul 30, 2008 3:16 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Condit vs Hazelett would be CRAZY when the fight hit the ground, but I think that even Carlos would prefer to keep the fight standing, where he has a distinct advantage.

I think everyone is forgetting Condit’s strongest weapon… Meanmuggin…
But honestly I like watching his fights and think he does need tested, not by the top 5 WW’s but give him the gate keeper, let Karo have a throw at him.
by Arnold on Jul 30, 2008 3:34 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
There is no one else left for him to beat in WEC. Whats he gonna do, fight Larson and Prather every other match? Condit already beat Trigg. Besides, you will never know if he can beat the big boys if you keep him down in the minor leagues. The guy is top ten, no doubt. The bottom half of Kevin Dont Know Shit’s list starting with Serra (aside from Penn) are all guys Condit is capable beating now. Id even add Hughes and Kos to that list. I think they should put him against Karo ‘The Love Handles’ Parisyan, and after he gets him in a sick armbar everyone will know he belongs in the UFC.

by kevin doesn't know shit on Jul 30, 2008 2:41 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
IMO, Fitch and St. Pierre are the ONLY two WW fighters that can beat Carlos 5 out of 5 times. He can easily pull of wins over any other guy. Mike Swick and Anthony Johnson, lol.
In addition to my post above, Condit has the INTANGIBLES. He has the killer instinct and he has heart, neither of which can be taught.
by ViolentMike on Jul 30, 2008 2:50 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I agree. He is a very smart and deceptive fighter. IMHO he and Miguel Torres are somewhat similar wrt intangibles. Condit always appears to be trying to set something up – he’s like a chess player (as is Torres). If he was in the UFC he’d probably be ranked between 5th and 8th in his weight class. The WEC deserves more recognition as it easily has the second best overall roster in MMA in North America.
by Muscle Dolphin on Jul 30, 2008 2:58 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Id rank it more like fourth, being after Affliction and Elite XC, theres only a few guys in WEC who are really solid, Jens Pulver, Urijah Faber, Miguel Torres… am i missing anybody?
by brendan (on TheNEgation's case) on Jul 30, 2008 3:33 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Paulo Filho (often ranked second in the middleweight division overall behind Anderson Silva), Brian Stann, Jamie Varner and a few others. Personally, I believe that they have a lot more depth than EliteXC and as of right now Affliction is a “one trick pony” – not a true organization since it basically only has one weight class.
by Muscle Dolphin on Jul 30, 2008 4:04 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah but Affliction is all HW’s and WEC is all the lower weights so that doesn’t make sense how one could be more important than the other. As well the WEC has a bunch of fake champions all except for Jake Sheilds. So I think Jens, Urijah, Miguel, Din, Condit are all solid reasons why WEC is better than EXC
by Cogito Ergo Sum on Jul 30, 2008 4:13 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Id take Lawler, Frank Shamrock, Ninja Rua, and Nick Diaz over all those guys anyday of the week

So VM Condit can beat these guys 1 out of every 5 times? That makes him a contender capable of hanging with the big boys? Because of the off chance he could actually beat one of the top guys in a re-re-re-re-rematch?
by jay on Jul 30, 2008 8:36 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
“IMO, Fitch and St. Pierre are the ONLY two WW fighters that can beat Carlos 5 out of 5 times. He can easily pull of wins over any other guy.”
I didn’t say that he’d only beat them 1 time. Actually, last time I checked “wins” with an “s” at the end of it means that it is plural, meaning more than 1. It seems like English is your first language, so that is actually pretty sad.
I’m saying that he would not get dominated by them. They would be close fights, a coin toss if you will. He is on the SAME level as them and he will prove it once item time for him to be in the UFC. I think that he would beat Kos 4 out of 5 times. I see him and Diego splitting their fights 50/50.
Are you catching on to what PLURAL means?
Oh yeah, and double check your math, because you have one too many re-’s in there, you re-re-re-re-tard
by ViolentMike on Jul 31, 2008 10:41 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Condit could beat Johnson/Swick/Parisyan/Davis.. IMO. in a few more years..at the rate he is going …he’ll be up there with Big dogs.
by PhilQNY on Jul 30, 2008 2:55 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
That’s a bold assumption, being that he’s never been tested by a top fighter… I think Brock was his hardest yet.
I also don’t get how you would have him beating Johnson and Davis… one shot and Condits head would be laying on the mat.
by Arnold on Jul 30, 2008 3:39 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
a couple of knees from Condit, and they would be taking a nose dive!
by john on Jul 30, 2008 3:54 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Strikers don’t typically get knees to the face, thats wrestlers trying to do a take down. I just want to see him fight a solid striker, someone with KO power, like Davis or Johnson.
by Arnold on Jul 30, 2008 5:12 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Strikers dont take knees to the face? Come on Arnold, the clinch game is a big part of mma, and Knees are 1 of the best weapons in the Tai clinch!
by john on Jul 30, 2008 5:49 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Arnold, Rich Franklin is a striker and Anderson just about put his knee all the way through him. I think Rich’s chest is permanently indented. Condit would beat a bunch of guys on these lists more often than not. I would bet he beats Swick 8 out of 10 times.
by Sacto on Jul 31, 2008 12:52 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Ok so now you’ve compared Condits chicken arms to Silva’s clinch????
I’m a big underdog fan and I like how Condit finishes fights, but untill he fights a top 10 guy I’m not going to agree that he’ll win 80% of his fights with guys who fight every match at the top tier level.
by Arnold on Jul 31, 2008 7:47 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
oh-oh wait, I bet he could take “Chainsaw”
by Ro-J on Jul 30, 2008 2:58 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
He’s had one title defense against a noboby and in the WEC it’s hard to be a nobody because there are so few of them. He bet Alessio…uh…so does everyone else. He beat Larson but if you saw that fight Larson was no where near his level and not ready for the fight. Condit is good, yes. I’m not saying otherwise. But until you step into a UFC cage there is no way you can even begin to call out any of “those guys”. “Those guys” are the best of the best. And I have to disagree. There is no way he beats Kos if that fight was the next scheduled for him. Kos is too experienced against the upper tier of Welterweight MMA fighters to lose to a WEC fighter. The only WEC fighter that could step into a UFC cage and make an impact right now is Faber.

I think gsp would do a lot as 185 and yes i think he would beat silva i hate that everyone thinks silva and fedor are un beatable.Anyone see Fedor-Arona Come On who really won that Fight, and silva has been beat i think gsp has all the tools to beat him.Just cause gsp lost agains serra 1 people talk shit on him, what about the distruction of trigg,hughes,serra2,sherk,kos,thorofag, some on tell me why he shouldnt move up he has cleaned house at 170.I do think he should take the same steps as silva,in fighting someone lower than silva the first fight like,i would love to see gsp vs franklin, nate marquartwould be another or quarry!

I don’t think people are dismissing the GSP / Silva fight because of GSP’s loss to Serra. I think it has more to do with how dominant Silva is right now. He just DESTROYED a LEGIT LHW….who was apparently cheating a little.

True. Just ask Silva how it’s worked out for him.

He has the skills but looks way to thin. does any one know what he walks around at? he would need to bulk up for the ufc.

Carlos always looks like he is smelling something rotten. He would get tooled by at least 8 WW in the UFC.

i think carlos needs to make the jump after his next fight to the ufc

If he was that confident he could be that good in the ufc why hasnt he asked to fight there?? the ufc owns the wec and im sure they’d make an exception. Does his definition of “dealing” with any ufc guys the same way that James Irvin dealt with Anderson Silva??
Also, i had no idea his father was Bill Richardson, who was once a presidential candidate. Imagine if his dad got elected, imagine the presses questions on his kid’s profession?? lol, now that would be good

I cant believe nobody mentioned nick diaz.
GSP
Fitch
Shields
Diaz
Sakurai
Condit could beat anyone else at least 50% of the time at WW.

Dude, I bet Condit beats Fitch 9 out of 10, GSP 2 out of 10, Thiago 3.5, maybe 4 out of 10. I think he would lose however to Swick .5, possibly .75 times out of 10. Just throwing a few numbers around guys.
