Man,that sucks.Hope he makes a full recovery. It sounds like he’s in a bad place at the moment.

I’m far from an expert, but a full recovery from something like a nervous breakdown can take years. At that, I’m not sure how “full” any recovery can be. God bless, Rampage.

I am still shocked with all of this..

I really hope Rampage can get his shit together(mentally)..
I feel for him, along with his friends and family, and am happy to hear the support he is getting…

GET WELL RAMPAGE!!

If rampage is mentally broken, then we might not see the same rampage ever again =/

True, even if he comes back to the cage, he may be a shell of himself.

This has gone from wacky incident to sad story way too fast.

What was the “thing with Chuck Liddell” that was mentioned by the interviewer?

by Kelly on Jul 20, 2008 9:54 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

i’m guessing the passing out during the interview thing

by travo on Jul 21, 2008 12:07 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Liddell was sick and on some crazy medication. His dumba$$ handlers still let him do that show.

by JV on Jul 21, 2008 7:00 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

He will be back as he said he won’t take 9 months off again. This is working out perfect for Dana! if its true that he wants Chuck to be champion again now there is no Rampage to stop that! So its Chuck v Griffin if he beats Evans but what about the 2 silvas???

by Tony on Jul 20, 2008 9:55 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

All that work to finally get to a real title and now that he lost it he’s gone nuts. that sucks. I hope we get to see him straighten up and fight again.

Hmmmm. I really don’t understand this at all.

by RyanHobbs on Jul 20, 2008 10:04 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I really hope this guy can get it together with time. He is a great person with a tremendous personality. There has to be more to what is going on than that loss.

by halljam2 on Jul 20, 2008 10:07 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

atleast he didn’t take a gun to school or something. Could have been a lot worse. I’m sure he will get well soon.

by nafe on Jul 20, 2008 10:08 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Driving a truck in the side walk and crashing into cars but not kng anyone is like shooting a gun at a bunch of ppl but missing. Let’s not get carried away, what page did was hideous.

by linx on Jul 21, 2008 7:00 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Dana never really answered the question and skirted around it…..that is when he was asked what he(Dana) saw when he bailed him out?

Dana White said he flew right out and “knew” something was wrong. What did he do, bail him out, say “wow Rampage is is desperate need of help”, then leave? Then sometime later OTHERS intervened and got police involved again to take him to metnal observation?

by fightfan on Jul 20, 2008 10:10 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Dana doesn’t have to babysit I give him that. How about hiring a psychiatrist and other medical professionals to work with these people that are going through all these problems. He says at the sport gets bigger and people get famous, the larger the problems, etc. etc. What can the UFC do as an org to help these people deal better with the circumstances?

by halljam2 on Jul 20, 2008 10:23 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

he used to always email me back on myspace but the last few weeks he never even read my emails. One he read and didn’t write back. I was like I guess he is busy with the fight but now it all makes sense. He is a cool guy who makes time for his fans although he never really wrote me back a lot he at least spent the time to write something until recently.

not sleeping for 4 days straight, not eating.. just drinking energy drinks and water and start having a religious break through…that would drive anyone over the edge. I mean when everyone heard about the whole highway thing they knew that wasn’t the rampage that everyone knows, and they’re right it wasn’t….my thoughts are with him and his family.

by Toad on Jul 20, 2008 10:30 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

theres certainly more to it than just the loss! On the show Rampage talked about having anger problems and where he grew up, this combined with the stardom so quickly must be a stark contrast to his past. these things happen every day but we only here about the high profile cases, Rampage will simply sit with psychologists and therapists to get to the bottom of his issues and put his mind in a more stable place.
Im not saying its as easy as this, but having worked in this field, there are logical explanations for Rampage having breakdown, it may not be as serious as we all fear, however due legalities Rampage would have to be cleared by a commission to step back in to the octagon if he is not mentally stable at this point.
At the end of the day hes a high profile athlete who has probably never had the support and direction required to deal with the highs and the lows that come with the fame.
Im sure he will be back stronger than ever!! Peace out, all the best Rampage!

Ok Mo, someone with some insight, I have a degree in psy and know a little something. It could be a number of things, diagnosing it accurately is the most difficult and important task. I’m guessing bipolar or thyroid, but it could be just lack of sleeping and eating and maybe just what everyone’s been saying a ‘nervous breakdown’. Who knows? close family members may know if it’s been a problem before or what it may be. After about a week of testing they’ll have a good idea what the issue is and will most likely be treatable. I’m pulling for the guy, more now than when he was in the ring or cage.

by THORAZINE on Jul 21, 2008 3:40 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

FASTING, ENERGY DRINKS AND EXTENSIVE SLEEP DEPREVATION… yup that could do it to. Lets just all hope that was it.

by Ian on Jul 20, 2008 11:06 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

“Thing With Chuck” I think refers to Nyquil on TV interview. Wasn’t good.

From every interview that I’ve seen and from TUF, ’Page seems like a really good dude, I hope that he gets it together.

by TheProfessor on Jul 20, 2008 11:42 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

The thing with Chuck was about the breakfast show his advisors let him go on while under the influence of the “Nyquil”, although it was construed that Chuck was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Simply he had the cold and had taken Nyquil to help him sleep

I don’t know, but maybe Rampage isn’t cut to be a star. He’s no longer just a fighter, he is a superstar. He went from fighting in Japan where he was only known by the hardcore fans to beeing UFC champion after two fights and defeating the biggest name to date, appearing on a TV show and having a truck with a huge photo of him and an action figure. Him losing the belt made all of this look like nothing and he snapped. Correct if I’m wrong, but I think Oliver McCall cried inside the ring on a fight against Lenox Lewis, so, what I’m trying to say is, to be succesfull, the mental part is more important than the physicall and technicall part (and Rampage got all the physicall and technicall tools) no matter what sport you are in, and right now Rampage doesn’t appear to be so mentally tough (I don’t know if I spelled it correctly, if not I’m sorry)

by Cristiano from Brazil on Jul 20, 2008 11:49 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I remember that Lewis fight, that was really strange. Fame can really mess with a person’s head too, just look at Britney Spears. Did you guys know she used to be really hot? haha

by naturalshadow on Jul 21, 2008 3:12 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Some of the younger visitors to the site also may not know that Michael Jackson used to be black. Poor bastard went nuts, built an amusement park, got a chimp, started messing with kids (allegedly) and turned white.

Yeah but Rampage isnt the sort of fighter who trains between fights either so that puts further pressure on his mental state and physical to get ready for a fight! I dont think Rampage has ever really been mentally tough or prepared for the highs of the ufc, or atleast mentally aware of where he is at, if he was this would have been avoided!
He needs a new starting point in his life, get all aspects of his life in order, when he first came to the ufc, if you remember he said he wanted the big cars the fame and that he had missed out on it!! Now he has had alot and very quick, he just wasnt ready for the whole picture, hel get his head sorted and get a good team behind him, Dana will make sure of it!

by mo on Jul 21, 2008 1:00 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

anyone who has been in 200 street fights and won them all and feels the need to say that on tv might have some mental problems to begin with. have any of the people on this site been in over 15 fights in their lifetime? if you answer yes to that question ask yourself what drives that urge to fight? usually ego. ocasionally survival but usually ego mixed with booze. everyone has an ego but some are more fragile than others. rampage has a fragile ego that has literally fucked itself with the constant reassurance of his failure. his title defined him and what is he now with out it? a train wreck.

by Ro on Jul 21, 2008 8:25 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

do any of you see any comparisons between rampage and kimbo slice in their fighting styles besides rampage being a decent wrestler. page is wierd… he’s a striker slash wrestler who sucks at jitz and sucks at scrambling. how long can someone like that be champion? he’s not complete like silva, penn, gsp, and fuck it, even forrest! forrest is a more well rounded fighter even though he’s not as dangerous. rampage is a refined street brawler. what do you think kimbo will be in 3 years? just some food for thought. i don’t get the rampage hype machine.

Hey you all. I am a total Rampage fan by far. Love him to death and cant wait to see him recover. Now I do have some friends that work out there and are very close to what is happening and what not. I am really not sure how much of this is true but from what I can tell most of it if not all of it is. My first reaction was please god I hope not but thinking about what Dana said and what these people said it makes more sense then not…….

Word is that when Rampage was bailed out of jail and went back to his home he had what only can be called a “mental breakdown”. Supposedly sources close to him stated that he said that “after what had happened to him on the freeway that nothing would ever be the same and that if somehow ending it all would be better.” There was also supposedly comments about him coming back in reincarnation or something to that affect. About god saving him by letting him do life all over again. What Dana is saying about when he saw him and stuff he said “holy shit” that is because he was at the time in an institution being evaluated and was in fact in some sort of straight jacket that he has to be restrained in because of fear of hurting himself or someone else. Seems like all the pressure and the lack of sleep had broke him down.

Now take it for what it is worth you all. I know some of this doesnt sound plausible but the people that is fact said these things have no reason whatsoever to lie about it. In fact they have never lied about any information before concerning legal troubles that any of the fighters had got into. And no please dont ask because I am sorry but I can not tell you who said it or who they work for because these people will definitely be fired for revealing any of this. These are good people and also are big fans of the UFC and Rampage and knowing personally what they do for a living it makes all the sense in the world….. Anthony

Dang dude, It sounds like it could be reasonable, if so, rampage is gone, there’s no quick recovery for that, in all his interviews after the fight he sounded all depressed and stuff also, like he wasn’t himself at all. I feel bad for the guy, he’s a great fighter and seems like a great person. Mentally he put his self to high and losing broke him down, and is making him question everything. He’ll Never be the same rampage.

Love and respect. It sucks when an idol lets you down, but you have to still treat him like a brother.

by EazyEismydad on Jul 21, 2008 5:11 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

i’m worried that Page may not be 100% confident as the way he was back then when he comes back to UFC after mental breakdown.

by Ro on Jul 21, 2008 8:16 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Rampage will recover from this. He just needs time, the worst that happened is in the past now. He is still young and he will come back strong from this. He has touched the bottom and he will never go there again, my heart and thoughts go with him.
Time will heal.

im 40 now & when i was 16 my mother had a break down & till this day she is not the same person! on that note i am very concerned 4 RAMPAGE ! i wish him & his family the best! weather your a fan or not people need 2 be respectful! really hoping i dont see some of the usual garbage on here because it could happen 2 anyone at anytime!! i must also add that some of danas views are messed up but he seems 2 be very sincere! lets just hope the ufc keeps being so supportive??? PEACE!!!

Something similar happened to my friend.
He is bi-polar with manic/psychotic episodes.
He got very religious, didn’t sleep for days but was all good when he took his meds.

by JimmieGreens on Jul 21, 2008 10:32 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Maybe Page’s only chance to recovery is by taking meds. And that could be a problem with all the testing it’s being done. If the testing becomes an issue then it might take a while to see him back.

by Cristiano from Brazil on Jul 21, 2008 12:23 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Dana White is the most unprofessional individual ever. If he curses again I am done with the UFC. He has absolutely no class and gets mad when people curse after a win/lose. Very bad businessman, very bad fight cards, in which fights make no sense. I dislike Dana a lot

by Matthew on Jul 21, 2008 1:51 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

This is one of the classiest things Dana has ever said.

He says he doesn’t even care about the UFC in this matter, its not about business it’s about the life of one of their friends.

Also, UFC puts together arguably the best fight cards.

Affliction put together a huge card on the weekend, the production values sucked, the commentating sucked, Megadeath just cheapened the sporting angle, and many of the fights were poorly planned and mismatched; Dewees against Lil nog?
What the hell?
