Absolutely. But I think they’ll feed him one of ‘em chumps first before bein’ fed to the likes of Hardonk. But I definitely ain’t underestimatin’ the abilities of this guy Cain.

Valesquez fights great but gives mild interviews…

by THORAZINE on Jul 21, 2008 3:52 AM EDT reply actions

I agree, hopefully he’ll get better as he gets more experienced. I think the UFC needs to start showing their fights and by theirs I mean Cain Velasquez and Shane Carwin.

by JV on Jul 21, 2008 6:44 AM EDT up reply actions

Yeah I agree! jV: u must be proud of your Chicano brother Vallasquez! U should be happy, you have a legit heavyweight to cheer for now, you dont have to cheer for Eddie Sanchez anymore. lol, just kidding.

Cain is the Truth… I was so impressed with his wrestling. If his striking is really at a K-1 Level then he will be a rising STAR in a division that needs him!

Eventually we will probably see Valesquez vs. Carwin…that will be an awesome fight!

by john on Jul 21, 2008 11:25 AM EDT up reply actions

Cain vs Carwin would be bada$$!!!

by JV on Jul 21, 2008 11:32 AM EDT up reply actions

Cain vs Lesnar anyone?

by chefdaddy on Jul 21, 2008 2:27 PM EDT up reply actions

THat would be a great fight as well

by john on Jul 21, 2008 5:02 PM EDT up reply actions

a fighter with a white pride tat would be considered a nazi, racist….funny aint it.

by texen_1 on Jul 21, 2008 7:31 AM EDT reply actions

Are we going to hear this every time Cain’s name comes up??? I wouldnt give a dam if a fighter had a (white pride) tattoo. I’m Mexican, and Chuck Liddell is probably my favorite fighter. If Chuck got that kinda tattoo I could care less, the man goes in there and fights.

by JV on Jul 21, 2008 7:59 AM EDT up reply actions

Yes we are going to hear about that every time his name comes up. Getting a tattoo like that is provocative.

Its not just a tattoo. It is a giant banner across his chest. The tattoo is intended to be divisive and it is divisive. And as a human being he should be criticized for it.

The people in this country who are the true non-racists are disgusted by any attempt promote or denounce one race or ethnicity at a time. That is what that tattoo does.

However I could really care less what some fighter has tattooed on his chest. That dude is a bad mofo and I am stoked that he whooped the Irish Blanket’s Arse.

by DonnyG on Jul 21, 2008 6:45 PM EDT up reply actions

didnt you hear? Yushin Okami just got a “Yellow Pride” tattoo :0 !!!!!

by brendan on Jul 21, 2008 10:07 PM EDT up reply actions

did i not explain his tattoo already?

brown pride means he does girls in the butt and he is proud.

u know’

- he ride the dirt roads.

- he is the conductor on the pooh pooh train.

- he gets in the backdoor without even knocking

- he has his brown-belt in ju hits pooh.

- he is the mayor of brown-town.

and he is damn proud of it! why does everything always have

to turn into a racial debate?

I thought it meant the same thing just with dudes.

by DDT on Jul 21, 2008 6:33 PM EDT up reply actions

it’s funny when people gets tats (brown pride, white pride, etc.)
for their color of their skin rather than their heritage. if i see a guy with a brown pride label, i would say well what kind of brown are you? hawaiian, mexican, brazilian, peruvian, etc.? it makes more sense if they label their heritage rather than just the color of their skin like mexican pride, brazilian pride, irish pride, etc.

by Ro on Jul 21, 2008 8:45 AM EDT reply actions

I think that the UFC is banking on Carwin, Lesnar and Velasquez to be the saviours of the HWY division. In that sense they are ahead of the competition. Affliction seems to just be interested in matching up “whatever is availabe” at the time. That is not a sound business model.

by Muscle Dolphin on Jul 21, 2008 9:09 AM EDT reply actions

I get seriously pissed off everytime i see this guy, as a “white pride” tattoo would have gotten the person throwned in prison yet when its “brown pride” nobody even dares to mention it.

by LanceLegweak on Jul 21, 2008 9:47 AM EDT reply actions

Folks, there is a bit of a philosophical difference between “white pride” and “brown pride.” Mainly, the folks who historically wore stuff like “white pride” are also the same folks who historically oppressed minorities or harbored ill-intent toward them. As a result, the natural inclination for us today is to assume anyone who wears a mantra like that also harbors the same ill-will toward minorities. The term “brown pride” historically doesn’t mean that the guy wearing that mantra also harbors the same sort of ill-will toward white folks. It typically refers to pride in heritage and overcoming society’s barriers. It’s really not the same reference.

by Higuy on Jul 21, 2008 9:59 AM EDT reply actions

So, what you are trying to say is- brown people can be proud of their history of being dominated by the white man… wait what the hell are they proud about? But, The white people can’t be proud of their history when at one point in time, every inch of land in the world has been owned by the white man.
There is blood on every colors hands, not just the “white man”.

by newguythegunman on Jul 21, 2008 12:12 PM EDT up reply actions

I believe the correct term is “Sour Grapes” it’s really not any european/english person’s fault that the chinese took gun powder and made a firecracker, while the white guys made a gun instead. Also, had any other race come across that edge first, i’m sure something similiar would have happened in reverse. but this is a moot point, who cares, history is history, and this is a mma post anyway = /

CAIN VELASQUEZ V SHANE CARWIN.

by dirtydarkin on Jul 21, 2008 8:26 PM EDT reply actions

It’s two early to jepardize the careers of either of thes young guns. Give it a year and that fight will happen.

by DB on Jul 21, 2008 10:56 PM EDT up reply actions

I don’t know about being proud of the whole gun powder thing.. Considering how many lives have been lost and ruined because of gun powder, perhaps it is better to honor the folks that decided to use it as fireworks instead of an instrument of mass killing.

Besides, without gun powder, maybe our nations would start settling conflicts by sending their top figher into an octogon cage and settling it there. They could make it a PPV and make a ton of cash, as well as saving lots of lives. And in this scenario, the US still stays a powerhouse.

by Higuy on Jul 22, 2008 9:20 AM EDT reply actions

How can it be ok for this guy to have “Brown Pride” across his chest and no one say anything. But if it was a white guy and it said “White Pride” he would be called a racist? Just like Matt Hughes holding up a White Boy shirt and every body blew up. I guess you can be proud of your color as long as your not white? BS
