As long as he doesnt start ducking Machida then I have no problem with Forrest being champ! Good representative of the sport, gives some pretty good interviews.

I am curious to see if he can successfully defend the title, or will he be a 1 pump chump? I am not sure, your thoughts?

by john on Jul 19, 2008 10:16 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I don’t think he will have a long reign. Perhaps one defense and that’s about it. His skill level is just not at the same level as a GSP, an Anderson Silva, a Nogueira and so on. He doesn’t have anything that he is truly amazing at. He doesn’t possess knockout power in his hands, nor does he dominate on the ground. Heart can only get you so far, before dominating skill takes over and I think that’s where his weakness lies.

A short reign imo.

agreed!

by john on Jul 19, 2008 10:29 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Me too, I just don’t see him getting past many of the major names such as chuck, machida, wandy, rematch with page (yep), rematch with shogun (yep), to name a few. I really think he’ll be a one time champ only. but I’m starting to like him more and more, too bad though, I just don’t see him keeping the belt at all. But I do believe he is ducking machida already (yep), just by saying he wants ‘nothing to do with that guy’ which in no way was a sarcastic statement. I really don’t see how a fight has to be offered first and rejected to be seen as ducking, if someone says ‘I don’t want to fight that guy’ and no fight was offered already seems like ducking to me.

by BNF's B_tch aka LINX on Jul 19, 2008 10:36 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Great post LINX!

Out of all the fights u mentioned, I think the best chance Forrest has of defending his title is against Liddell!

Forrest is a big/strong dude, and maybe…I mean maybe, could possibly take Liddell down, try and keep him down and work his ju jits which will be the only advantage he has over Chuck. Chuck has been taken down and held down by big strong dudes like Randy and Rampage, If Forrest copuld do that, it would be his best shot at successfully defending his title!

I really want Shogun or Rampage to get a rematch witrh the gump…especially Shogun!

by john on Jul 19, 2008 10:42 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

oh man, I’d love to see shogun getting a rematch with forrest, but unfortunately (and rightfully so) he’ll have to work himself back up the latter, by the time he’d be eligible for a title shot forrest is going to be long gone. Maybe he’ll be able to get a rematch once forrest looses the belt?

by BNF's B_tch aka LINX on Jul 19, 2008 11:00 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, thats what I wqas thinking. Hopefully once Forrest looses the title, Shogun will get a rematch.

Linx: who do u think out of the possible contenders at 205 that Forrest has the best chance of defending his title against….I would have to say Liddell. YOur thoughts?

by john on Jul 19, 2008 11:04 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I agree that all of those guys have the advantage against Griffin, but I would’nt be shocked if he beat any of them. There’s something about Griffin, he beats guys and after the fight I’m thinking how exactly did he do that? Somehow he just keeps going. I don’t expect him to be a long run champ, but I do think he’ll be around the top for some time.

by Jrandolph on Jul 19, 2008 11:09 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

John, I think he would have better chances against Rashad Evens if he gets through Chuck LOL.

by BNF's B_tch aka LINX on Jul 19, 2008 11:22 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think we should have all learned not to count Forrest out of ANY fight by now. He will always come into a fight in great condition, he has no holes in his game, and will always have a smart gameplan and execute it. He should be no worse than even money against anyone.

by PW on Jul 19, 2008 11:36 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Linx, your funny man. You said you weren’t going to hate on Forrest then you basically said everone at 205 will beat him… LOL. Didn’t you learn your lesson. But I actually agree with John. I think his best chance of defending his title is agaisn’t Chuck. After that, it is Thiago in 09!

Hey and that website you told me to watch Affliction on is in Portugese???

by BNF on Jul 19, 2008 11:48 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

you can change the language to english, go to the FÓRUM section, and at the bottom left hand corner you should have a drop down menu that will allow you to change it to english.

PS: regarding forrest, I said I can’t hate on him as much as I used to, not that I wouldn’t hate on him anymore :p

by BNF's B_tch aka LINX on Jul 19, 2008 1:13 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

What website is this???? Seriously let me know I’m in the UK and can’t get a hold of it.

by Holdin_Ropes on Jul 19, 2008 3:38 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think he would have a good shot at beating Wandy. Wandy is a small and short lhw so I think Forrest could get him down and lay on him and GNP. I think Chuck is as big as Forrest and I think Forrest would have a hard time taking him down and I’m not sure he could keep him down. Two or three years ago I think Chuck would eat Forrest, but now with him getting older, Forrest might be able to get the job done.

by brac on Jul 19, 2008 4:45 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Holdin_Ropes, it’s fight2live.net. but the fights won’t be available until tomorrow. I’m off for the day, see yall tomorrow where I should be known as linx only :)

How can anyone say that forrest doesn’t have a chance of defending his title, he beat rampage. Rampage up until the 5th of July everyone thought was unbeatable. In comes forrest and beats on Shogun who is one of the only guys to beat him and forrest beats on him. Then steps up to the plate and beats on rampage, who hit him with his hardest punch and forrest didn’t even close his eyes.
If forrest can beat shogun and rampage who is going to step up, there is chuck, wandy, machida, thiago and maybe rashad. Are any of these guys any tougher than rampage, I don’t think you should count forrest out. He has earned that belt and gone through some tough guys he didn’t win by luck he beat them up from being the better fighter.

Hopefully everyone listens to the video before commenting so they can take it in context.

So, THEY DAY HAS ARRIVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven’t been around because my wife had surgery on Wednesday, and my dog hit a car on Sunday, so I havent been at work sinc Wednesday. Really wish I could have been talking more about the best day in MMA history, but believe it or not, even for me, family comes first. LOL, of course it does, and it better for everbody!

I can’t believe that Hermes Franca is +110. And holy sh*t, he is +130 on Bodog. WOW!!!!

I got some on him, and now I have to make a deposit, which SUCKS!!!!!!! I was still playing off of my $100 bet on the Giants in the Super Bowl when I finally signed up. I just can’t pass up tonites event. I am going to have a parlay chock full of favorites, like 5 of them. And then while watching Afflicion live, I will be placing my bets inbetween the fights so that way I can attempt to maximize my profits for the totally 1 sided fights. Nog will not lose. He is actually -1500 on Bodog, still -1000 on Betus. Also, I do not see how Josh Barnett can possibly lose his fight. I might have Babalu on my parlay, but I will not be betting on him straight up. I am nost likely leaving the Lindland fight alone.

JOHN and PHIL, I am about to take my car for an oil change and what not. I am going to try and give you a call while I’m waiting. Be on the lookout!

PW and BNF: I agree to not count Forrest out, and this is not me hating on him, but you would have to admit that even as champion, he would still probably be an underdog against most top light heavyweights whenever he defends his title, and thats not the way its supposed to be. When champions like BJ, GSP, Silva,Nog defend there titles, no doubt that they will almost always be the favorites to win the fight.

My Question for you all:
What contenders could you see him as the favorite against?

Not hating, just curious to see your responses

by john on Jul 19, 2008 3:26 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

The only guys I can see Forrest being the fav. against at the present time is Evans and Jardene. Those are the only 2 that come to my mind right now that I think he would not be considered the underdog. I think Chuck, Machida, Rampage, Wandy, and Shogun would all be favored to win against Forrrest.

by brac on Jul 19, 2008 4:50 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I said it in my post above, I don’t think Forrest can be less than even money against anyone right now. He is good at every aspect of MMA, so there is no way to say that any fighter has an inherent advantage over him before the fight even starts.

by PW on Jul 19, 2008 6:25 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I would duck machida too, unless he beat a top 5 LHW, cause right now he’s just smoke and mirrors

by Ro-J on Jul 19, 2008 10:41 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Come on dude. Do you really think he can duck him? Or would? Other than faking an injury he can’t duck him anyway. Joe Silva makes the fights. It’s MMA not Boxing.

BIG NEWS!!!!!!!! Pay attention!

Yushin okami has broken his hand and therefor is out of the title fight against Silva…. Instead Silva will face patrik Cote!

by john on Jul 19, 2008 10:30 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yushin did that on purpose when he heard he’d have to go against the spider :)

by BNF's B_tch aka LINX on Jul 19, 2008 10:37 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

He probably punched a wall till his hand shattered! lol

Cote is going to get KNocked out Silly!

by john on Jul 19, 2008 10:38 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i hate Cote, he’s always saying “i finish fights, i knock people”, yeah right you didn’t do sh1t with Almieda. Silva will knock his ass out and prove Patrick is a fake knockout artist.

by Ro on Jul 19, 2008 7:05 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

LOL! Yeah, he figured that not only his hand will be broken if he fights the Spider. IT’s like in the wars, if you get yourself shot, that’s you’re ticket to go home…

by TheNegation on Jul 19, 2008 8:58 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

That sucks. I think Okami would give the Spider a much tougher fight than Cote. Cote is to short and the Spider will light Cote up with his reach and over power him in the clinch.

Yeah he does say that……He compliments Silva the first 99% of the interview then adds that he hates him in the last couple seconds.

He is basically saying Silva is so god dman good at everything he does that he hates him for being so good!!!

by fightfan on Jul 19, 2008 10:22 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

He says it all in good fun. You can tell he has nothing but respect for the p4p best. Every time I hear a Forrest interveiw, I gain more respect for the guy. He’s a class act and I hope he shocks the world and has a long title reighn. At least till they give Machida a shot.

his attitute is starting to get on my nerves.. he just earned 400.000 bucks without even finishing a guy whose knee was basically in pieces.
and he punches with the strenght of a 13 years old girl.

right now I am really looking forward to see a guy like chuck or thiago silva beat the hell out of him..

p.s. machida would beat him as well, but without ass whooping..

i’d like to see forrest punch you. Then maybe you can say that he punches like a 13 year old girl. Or after you wake up, you can tell us how bad that hurt.

get off the rampage bandwagon. Everyone keeps whining about the fight, he lost, get over it. he had one knockdown that was it. Forrest outmoved him and was the more agressive fighter. Oh yeah, wonder how his leg is too?

I can see the 205lb title changing hands a few times in 2009

by braveheart on Jul 19, 2008 11:54 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Absolutely. I think the winner of Evans/Liddell will win. Then they will lose on of their next fights, probably to Rampage, Wandy, or Machida.

by halljam2 on Jul 19, 2008 1:08 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I’d love to see Forrest fight Silva some time down the road, when both of them are well established at 205.

by FedorsFan on Jul 19, 2008 12:32 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Well established? Silva maybe but I think this is going to be a one or two fight thing for him. I would say Forrest is pretty well established considering it is the only weight he has ever fought at in the UFC. He did fight a few times in other orgz at heavyweight against like Dan Severn, etc.

Nothing like stoping it at that to start shnit! I would have liked to seen the rest of that video, key word I hate him for it, it’s not forrest starting a fight with him, it was forrest saying how good he is, and he hates him for it! he didnt mean thast he hates him want’s to fight him. I hate how they do that

by bisnatch on Jul 19, 2008 1:14 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

forrest wont have a long rain…. actually i dont think anyone can because the division is so stacked… it seems that 1 persons style always seems to beet another for example…. forrest v rampage (forrest won) rampage v chuck (rampage won) but chuck v forrest (probably chuck IMO)

the only person i can see havin a long rain is machida (depending on how he does against a big hitter like chuck or wandy)

I think Shogun could hold the title if he gets back in the old shape of his. Otherwise everyone would be open to getting beat. Yeah, maybe Machida, with lots of 5 round decisions.

by ufcmn89 on Jul 19, 2008 3:25 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

And yeah, I don’t think anyone is actually thinking that Forrest “Hates” Anderson. Girls say this to me all the time when I tell them how easy it is to not gain weight even though I eat deep fried Mars bars daily. They say “I hate you” or when I ace an exam without studying, they say “I hate you” they’re jealous of me, but they also want to be with me and love me deep down…so I don’t know what that says about Forrest. Maybe he’s gay, but I have no problem with that, it’s just not my thing. It’s not impossible that Anderson is gay too. Hell, there are lots out there.

by dave on Jul 19, 2008 2:29 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I can’t hate on Forrest he has got mad heart. No one will ever see him not give it his all. I think he beat Rampage fair and square and if Rampage or anybody thinks he didn’t then Rampage should have stopped him.

He is screwed as far as his division goes.. no one has a chance for long.

I just looked at the weigh-ins on mmaweekly. I think the Sandman will only have a slight weight advantage over Silva. Silva’s arms actually looked bigger than the Sandman’s and Silva weighed in at 206 lbs. If weight was going to be a problem he would have come in small like Hendo does. he usually comes in around 202 at lhw. Silva was actually 1 lb. over. This could be a barn burner, but I see Anderson Silva winning this fight.

CROOKED, CROOKED, CROOKED!! No fighter should win a fight by an ILLEGAL move! Disqualify Burns, especially after he was warned. Johnson did not loose that fight, even by the score card.

If this is allowed to stand – the UFC is no better than the crooked practices of boxing. DANA fix this or no one will believe this sport has any integrity!

by Jeff on Jul 19, 2008 10:23 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

A mistake is different that being crooked. Dana has nothing to do with stupid ref calls or bad judgments, im sure he isnt happy about it either.

Comparing this fight to rigged boxing matches is a bit of a stretch.

by Cantrim on Jul 20, 2008 2:55 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I think everyone counts Forrest out and thinks he wont last very long because he doesnt go in there angry and trying to intimidate others, hes a goofy guy with a way different personality than a fighter, thats why everyone dont think he will last long as the champ and why after ever fight were like, how did he do that? Its cause the other fighters try and be tough as well.
