This guy has the worst octogon entrance ever.

by the_mexicutioner on Jul 17, 2008 9:16 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

worse than Phil Baroni?

by "Mr. NC-17" on Jul 17, 2008 12:22 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Close tie I guess.

Baroni looks like such a baboon, WWE style in his entrance. Then he goes in and gets his ass kicked justifiably.

The Texas Crazy Horse is a cool dude.. He’s been in this sport for a while now.. Had some good fights in pride..entertaining..the only knock on him.. is the O’brian fight.. I’ve been trying to get that fight out of my head for a while now.. Brock..humm I don’t know how he’ll stay green for?? IF/ when Brock gets Heath on his back.. the can in end right there.. he was ragg dolling Mir..but had the incorrect stance and Mir..got him with the Knee Bar.. I just don’t see Heath doing the same thing.

I am with u as usual Phil! Do we ever disagree? lol
I am very interested in this fight because Hearing seems to Finally be training the right way. I couldnt even recognize his face in the Kongo fight, he was slimmed down and looked great! I am just not sure that it is enough about the POWERFULL and improving Lesnar!

Phil, great pick up on Brock’s stance against Mir….I expect at least those small mistakes to be corrected.

I am very interested in this fight!

as big and strong as Brock is, I think experience will prevail in this fight. Kudos to the UFC for not pulling a Kimbo with lesner!

by kevin on Jul 17, 2008 11:17 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

This fight is Brock’s. Only a few HWs in the world could have pulled that knee bar that Mir got on Lesnar, and Herring isn’t one of them. In a way Lesnar is like Koscheck, in that when he decides he wants his opponent on the ground, the opponent ends up on the ground, no questions. At least this time Herring will get pounded out when Lesnar puts him on his back instead of getting calluses on his taint from being humped for 15 minutes like O’Blanket did to him.

by PW on Jul 17, 2008 12:05 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

pW: great points. I actually dont think Mir deserved to win against Brock…I think Mir was another hammerfist or two from being dead and Mazzagatti bailed him out with a Terrible call….I think brock got cheated out of that fight and Im not even much of a fan of Brocks

by john on Jul 17, 2008 12:12 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

A former UFC Champion and a class act like Mir is going to get a few more seconds more than normal people fighting in the UFC. The do the same for most big name guys who they know are experienced and know if they should be giving up or if they can pull something off. Its obvios that it was not the wrong decision as the end result was Lesnar tapping out and Mir not sleeping. Although yes Lesnar probably could have killed Mir there but still the same probably could have been said for when Mir fought Sylvia he may have been killed but he submits people so you have to think he’ll pull it off and give him the extra time as long as he is still working from the ground

by Smokes on Jul 17, 2008 1:40 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, but that’s not my point. The reason Brock was robbed is because they STOPPED THE FIGHT, took away points from Brock, then restarted it allowing Mir to regain his composure and catch him in a submission!

The fight should not have been stopped, and Brock would have pounded Mir into the mat! Mazzagatti copmpletly bailed Mir out of that fight and that is BS…I dont care if you are a former champion or a new fighter, you dont bail someone out of a fight that just sucks!

Worste Refereeing of the year took place in that fight, and there has been a lot of bad ones this year, but that was by far the worste!

by john on Jul 17, 2008 3:43 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

JOHN. totally agree. mazagatti is usually one of the better refs, but he blew this one and even worse has never atoned for it. to my knowledge he has never admitted that he made a mistake in this fight and has always defended his stop in the action and point deduction. if a ref would just once say " i blew it on this call" he would get alot more respect from the fans imo.

by b.w. on Jul 17, 2008 4:51 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Absolutely! He stands by that call, and thats what makes it even worse. Mistakes happen and being a referee isnt easy, but like u said, man up to it, and I would respect you a lot more and all would be forgiven.

I dont even really like Brock, I root for him because the division needs ANIMALS, but I dont root for him, butr I dont feel that anyone who put blood sweat and tears in the Octagon shoudl get ripped off like that…what a disgrace.

Thats why the Nog/Mir match up is just a sham! Mir doesnt deserve it! Then again if we wait till someone actually deserves to fight Nogueira, that title wont be defended for years, so bring it Mir!

No way that mir’s “wu shu” defeats Nogeira’s families “Wu Shu”………Reference to FEARLESS, damn that movie gets me hype! I love that stuff!

by john on Jul 17, 2008 8:21 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I agree. That point deduction was just strange. It almost looked like Mazagatti was going to stop the fight, but saw that Mir was still defending himself, and had to bail himself out for stopping the fight by taking away a point from Lesnar. I am not saying that is what happened, but I do remember thinking it when I watched that fight.

Every time I see anything about Herring it just reminds me of that kiss! That was some messed up sh!t, and Im glad he knocked that guy out.

by JV on Jul 17, 2008 9:38 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

JV: yeah, u cant blame him for that….That was funny as hell, and I have loved Heath ever since I have seen that! Heath is a kool kat, he used to live in Amsterdam for a little while, training with the Dutch Bangers….he was a tough fighter in Pride and he had a rocky start in the UFC but has shown much improvement lately.

However, Brock is just a MOnster, who scares the crap out of me.

Should be a very interesting fight.

by john on Jul 17, 2008 9:48 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yea, I dont blame him for that f**cked up sh!t. And yea, he is a cool dude. Its just when I see something about him, thats the first thing that pops into mind.

by JV on Jul 17, 2008 10:16 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

The bad thing for Heath is Lesnar’s wrestling skills are incomparable to O’Brien. Lesnar is a very strong and explosive collegiate wrestler. We will see Herring get blanketed like he did in the O’Brien fight but this time he will take bombs which will be no good for him. He needs to keep it standing, that is the only chance he has.

by halljam2 on Jul 17, 2008 1:41 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

u r right. stand up is Heath’s only chance. I doubt he will be able to stop the takedown, but once Brock takes him down, he will have to control Heath, and Heath is tricky cause he is always rolling his way out of bad positions and then scrambling to better positions. Brock NEEDS to control him, if he does that he will get the win!

by john on Jul 17, 2008 2:24 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Just ask Nogueira about Heath’s stand up.

by the_mexicutioner on Jul 17, 2008 4:01 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I don’t see Harring holding up agaist Brock’s raw power. Mir scramble well into the knee bar because of his BJJ skill and I don’t think Harring has that same level of foresite from move to move. I expect to see a lot of hammer fist from Brock to Harrings face in the G&P = ref stoppage late in the 1st.

Off topic: I am so tired of champions being coaches on the TUF reality show. Not saying this has anything to do with what happened with Rampage but it does have to put a tremendous amount of pressure on the champions and top contender. They are fighters not coaches. I would hate to have to deal with all those guys who have been locked up in that house. Not to mentioned the coaches need to be focused on their own training and not be concerned with all the other crap. Just watch how frustrated the coaches get on the show. Most of these guys have no coaching experience at all. Hell, Big Nog can hardly even speak english. In addition to to the mental game look at the layoff the champions have been forced to deal with. Nine months for Rampage. It will be nearly that or more for Big Nog. These guys should be fighting three times a year and focus on their own fight game.
One more bitch I have is why does UFC.COM have Randy listed as the champ. Give me a break! I love Randy but he is not coming back. They are just doing that to cover their butts for legal issues. If I was Big Nog I would be pissed.

by Chainlink on Jul 17, 2008 10:27 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I agree.. and as well as others about " current champs " being coaches. On the UFC.com thing..Big Nog can’t even catch feelingss about it.. it’s all politics. As Fedor should and will " inflict death on Timmy ".. Affliction’s next card would be Fedor vs Couture.

by PhilQNY on Jul 17, 2008 12:32 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I really hope your right about the Fedor/Randy card. That would be sweet.

Brock by masterful ownage…

by ntvmma on Jul 17, 2008 11:33 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Jake O’ Brien, Nog and Kongo all took down Heath in their fights, leaving Heath 1-2 in those three fights in the UFC. Brock Lesnar is a better wrestler than Kongo by leaps and bounds, and should be able to take down Herring and dominate him from the top position. I think Herring has a hell of a chance if he can stuff the take downs and keep this fight standing, then Herring will have the advantage.

This fight will be electric. Period.

by "Mr. NC-17" on Jul 17, 2008 12:24 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Well Herring is about 1 inch taller, and Brock is only gonna be 15 lbs heavier according to the ufc web site. I don’t think this is as lop sided as people think. I think once the staredown happens everyone’s gonna realise that Brock isn’t really that much bigger than Heath. thicker def, but it’s def not lop sided.

by O damn he got caught on Jul 17, 2008 1:54 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Agree there, if Heath can weather Brocks initial charge and make it through the first round, I think he can win. Heath is a tough guy and takes a good punch, no one count him out just yet.

by Rubberman on Jul 17, 2008 3:44 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

brock is going to lose

by bubba on Jul 17, 2008 2:52 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

It might only be 15lbs difference in total bodyweight but the comparison of explosive muscle fibers is pathetic

A 1.0 litre standard car and a super car weigh roughly the same. Exactly.

Muscle isn’t everything, but having a championship wrestling background, extreme cardio and the best coaches/training partners in the world takes all of this to an elite level

Take them both to the gym and see what happens

I’ve got £500 on lesnar

by Dave on Jul 17, 2008 8:24 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

give this fake fighter/wrestler (cock bresnar) a good old Dutch beating Heath!!!

by onpoint on Jul 18, 2008 7:48 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

onpoint

Lesnar will destroy Heath. It won’t even be a contest. Lesnar will knock him out and give Heath a Dutch oven after he is laying unconscious!
